Part IIIII IIIII IIIII III
::: Wrecked :::
Goku…
Renjiamori? Goku thought as he began to open his eyes. There was a fog in front on him distorting his vision. He could barely see the sky much less the birds or trees and other lesser things around him.
Yes, Goku, I have something to tell you. Our last conversation wasn’t finished.
Goku sat up, thoroughly confused, he thought his father was the only one who could get into his head. He couldn’t see him like he can usually see his father. It’s almost morning… He’s been having a fitful sleep. Maybe he’s hallucinating.
Renji laughed and explained, It’s really me, Goku, the man came into view as a vision, as though he was standing right there, and he smiled handsomely and added, Don’t be upset about me. Vegeta doesn’t blame you. You can’t blame yourself.
Startled, Goku sputtered, Renji, I-
You tried to stop me, I know, but I made my decisions and I do not have any regrets.
Almost ashamed, Goku added, You saved our lives, Renji, thank you.
Renji smiled as though he thought nothing of it, and said, It’s an honor. There’s something I wanted to tell you before, something that I realized about Jeremel, but it was only confirmed upon his last attack on us.
Goku nodded his head but he was still uncertain if this was a vision or if it was actually happening.
Every time he lets out a big attack he does have to leave, drained, because his power source is elemental, like mine, but also like yours in a way. I never realized before how similar our influences are, on an atomic level. You’ll have to maim him on the planet so that he can’t leave, and then you can defeat him.
What do you mean?!
The moon, it’s a source of power for him in a different way from you and Vegeta because he’s only half-saiyan. He doesn’t have a tail… I’m still not quite sure how it works, but, from my understanding he uses it to his advantage, to hide himself, somehow.
Goku wondered, to himself, ‘Is that why I knew about Namek?’ but he asked Renji, Are you saying we should blow it up?
Well, yes, that probably wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Goku didn’t fully understand. He asked, How… how are you talking to me?
He suddenly heard twin laughter and a familiar voice spoke to him and said, Kakarot, it’s not hard to find me, if you’re looking. Renjiamori found me straight away and asked if I could help deliver a message… Now do you understand, my son? This is not your imagination…
Father? Ok. I understand, but…
Take care of Jeremel, son.
Renjiamori! Father!
“Goku…”
“Dad…”
“HAH!!” Goku woke up with a fright. Strange, he felt like he was already awake. Goten and Trunks are staring at him in such a peculiar way. He smiled his best goofy smile and scratched the back of his head, “How long have you boys been trying to wake me up?”
“Uh, not too long…” Goten replied nervously. For Goku to be sleeping in like that is a bit abnormal but he seems to be okay in his youngest son’s eyes. Finally he said, “We can’t find Gohan anywhere…”
“Gohan,” Goku sighed. He had just told him he has feelings for Renjiamori… and now Renjiamori is dead. Why didn’t I go to Vegeta last night to talk to him? What is wrong with me? I’m supposed to be there for him and for my son, and I’m always off doing something… more important to me.
Trunks spoke up, “My Dad’s been looking for him. He says the last place he saw him was with my Mom in her lab, but that was hours ago.”
“Vegeta! Did he talk to Gohan?” Only then did Goku notice it was nearly mid-day. He got more sleep than he’d planned on.
Trunks shrugged, “I think so, but mostly he’s just been pissed off about you, to be honest, and, uh…”
“He hasn’t been quiet about it,” Goten explained.
Goku frowned and said, “Okay, boys. Thanks.” He stood up and felt out Vegeta’s location. It’s time that he starts paying attention to what’s going on around him, instead of what’s going on inside his head. He put a hand on each of their shoulders and ITed to Caps. Corp. where Piccolo and Huntre and his men have been waiting.
The space-warriors saluted him when he arrived and asked for their next mission with grievous faces, they had only learned about Renjiamori a few hours prior.
Goku, who was surprised to receive such a welcome, shook his head and said, “I can’t tell you what to do. It’s your lives on the line and if I were you I’d just stay out of the fight. Jeremel doesn’t seem to be concerned about you and I’d like to keep it that way.”
Huntre tried to speak but Vegeta, who joined them the instant he sensed Goku, halted him and said, “Go, all of you, find something useful to do with yourselves. It’s my turn to talk to Kakarot.”
Everyone, including Piccolo and the youngest Saiyans, knew that was the nicest cue to leave they would ever get from Vegeta and they all took him seriously and left straight-away.
Vegeta angrily invited Goku inside for a chat. Goku gulped, feeling uneasy at what Vegeta might have to say to him, and obeyed without a peep. The tenseness in Vegeta’s shoulders let Goku know how truly upset he is, although he remained quiet upon entering the building. He hurried to his quarters where he had a large overly comfortable office, a place where he would read and think, where no one else had ever been besides Trunks once as a child. Goku noticed how tidy everything is, all expensive wood and plush cushioning, but not gaudy or too upscale, with a manly feel to the room and all its furnishings.
“Have a seat, Kakarot,” Vegeta demanded as he sat in his own chair. Goku was forced to sit alone on the comfy couch and knew not where this was going.
Vegeta, however, was quick to say what was on his mind and he began with, “Your eldest son barged into Bulma’s labs today and took things against her will. I’m not even sure what he stole and the woman is a wreck right now. Apparently he was forceful and secretive.”
“What would Gohan want from her labs?”
“I don’t know, Kakarot!” he yelled and the veins bulged on his arms as he gripped his fists.
“What? You think I know?” Goku asked, taking the hint, “Just because I have certain abilities doesn’t mean I just know things like that!”
Vegeta jumped up from his seat and yelled, “Then what good are your powers?”
“I’ve been asking myself the same thing!” Goku screamed right back, standing up in confrontation with Vegeta. They glared each other down, face-to-face before Goku got a hold of himself. “Vegeta,” he withdrew from their heated-discussion and his voice fell into a whisper, “I’m sorry…”
“I don’t want to hear it, Kakarot,” he scolded, crossing his arms over his chest, unable to back down the way that Goku could, but he backed off significantly. Although there was pain in his voice, Goku could tell it wasn’t directed at him. Vegeta looked pensive as he said, “You refuse to tell me what you know… So how can I be of any help to you…with this?”
Goku shook his head and said, “I’m just as confused about everything as you are…”
“There’s nothing to be confused about, damn it!” Vegeta replied hastily, “You have a source and you’re arguing with it! You don’t argue with where your talents come from, Kakarot, you accept them and let them work through you!”
Goku thought hard on Vegeta’s advice and he smiled, “I’ve never thought about it that way, Vegeta.”
Vegeta scowled and turned away from him, still pouting and angry.
Goku let emotion take over him for a few brief moments, and approached Vegeta quietly. He wrapped his arms around him from behind before he could change his mind about making a move so bold. Vegeta was too shocked to push him away. The feeling of being in his arms was wonderful; his warm hands gripping his biceps, his strong hands gripping him and keeping him close to his chest. For a moment Vegeta relaxed into his body and let his scent fill his nose. Goku’s chin pushed against the side of his head gently, and he breathed in deeply and it had a calming effect on both men.
Long moments went by without either man saying a word. Goku’s grip wouldn’t cease and Vegeta didn’t want it to, but he couldn’t respond, either. Ironically he was too worried about whether or not Kakarot was reading his thoughts to form a completely coherent one.
Finally Goku spoke aloud, breaking the silence but not his hold, “I make the wrong choice even when I try to make the right one. I’ve been feeling so lost and out of control.”
Vegeta replied, quietly, “You’ve always made the right choices when it counts.” Goku smiled at the compliment. Vegeta pulled away from his hold and Goku let him free as he said, “You’ve made yourself that way out of control.” And in his eyes Goku felt that he had to acknowledge that as true. “Nothing changed except you, until now. Renjiamori dying meant more to people than you know.”
“I know, Vegeta,” Goku sighed. “Gohan… he told me he…”
“Yes,” Vegeta smirked, but it seemed more a fond smile, and said, “I figured that out when he flew at me angrily and blamed me for letting Renjiamori die.”
Goku squeaked and wondered at the turn of events. Vegeta is okay with Gohan loving Renjiamori? He even seems happy about it. Is he not mad at Gohan for coming at him in such a way? How could his son say something like that?
“I corrected him…” said Vegeta, still smirking, and although Goku knew he was hurting, his philosophy explained why he handled it so well. He added, “In a way, it was my fault, but,” he brushed it off, mentally, “I know Renjiamori. He’s fine. He’s probably even got his body up there and has already contacted many of his people. Still, Gohan surprised me very much. Not so much that he was interested in Renjiamori, just that he took it so harshly… There must be something between them that we weren’t noticing before.”
Goku nodded, “It’s possible.”
“Well,” Vegeta frowned again, “That still doesn’t explain him barging into her labs like that, Kakarot. We need to find out what he took.”
Goku nodded, “I can find him right now.”
“Take me with you.”
“Of course,” Goku smiled, wondered why all things with Vegeta weren’t resolved so easily, and they were off.
By the time they got to Gohan he was passed out in the middle of the woods with a needle in one hand and a newly grown tail flapping about in contentedness behind him.
“Gohan!” Goku gasped. Unexpected is not a strong enough word to describe the scene. “But why would he want his tail back?” he asked Vegeta.
Vegeta was quiet for some time, many answers coming to him, though he wasn’t sure which were the most accurate. He said, “There are probably more reasons than even he would admit to.”
Goku turned to Vegeta and asked, “What do you know about my son that I don’t?”
“A lot,” Vegeta chuckled, and Goku didn’t waste his time being jealous about it, he just listened; “I know that he was always a bit more curious about his Saiyan heritage than you. I also know that he’s a more calculated fighter than you are, but also not as knowledgeable. He only trusts his gut when it counts, the rest of the time he’s stuck between two worlds, and since one of those worlds doesn’t exist anymore, he’s forced to figure out what it means to be Saiyan without ever knowing if what he feels is right or wrong.”
“What do you mean?” Goku asked, thoroughly engrossed in this conversation.
“You raised him, you tell me,” Vegeta smirked, “Why would he be this confused to think such a drastic change was necessary? Or perhaps we should wake him up and ask him ourselves.”
“You’re saying I’m the reason he did this.”
“No,” Vegeta explained, “I’m the reason he did this. Because of my existence, he knows there’s more to himself than being an Earthling. He knows there’s something inside of him that will never go away until he satisfies his own personal journey in finding out what kind of man he really is. You, however, never helped him, so he has had to do it on his own, without permission and without any explanation. Besides, why should he feel obligated to explain anything to either of us? We keep most things secret from our families as it is, so why shouldn’t he?”
“But… but he stole that needle,” said Goku, and although the needle itself made him go blue in the face, the happiness of his son was much more important. “Was this really necessary?”
“Who can say? Let’s leave him,” Vegeta offered and began to turn and fly away.
Goku wondered why Vegeta suddenly wasn’t so angry any more but he couldn’t focus on it for long. He followed close behind and they were going at a leisurely pace, almost too leisurely. Although Vegeta was silent, Goku began blurting out his confessions before he could stop himself, “Gohan had a strange talk with me before Renjiamori died. I wish I knew more about Gohan and about Renjiamori… I know he was only trying to help, but I was so blinded by your approval of him. I couldn’t see what I was doing to my relationships with everyone else, including you.”
Vegeta heard him, but had nothing to say and so Goku continued, “I felt threatened by him, Vegeta. I thought that you would… leave me for him. I thought that he was going to take away everything that we had.”
“What did we have, Kakarot?” Vegeta replied, disdainfully over a cold shoulder as he kept on flying, “You never told me any of this meant anything to you.”
His words always hurt the worst, and Goku reacted to them reflecting that pain, “You’re so hard to talk to! How could I tell you anything when I was always so busy trying to figure out what type of mood you’re in?”
What mood I’m in? Vegeta thought, and felt the strange air of déjà vu, instead it is years later, and here he is talking to another man who says he’s interested. He barked, shaking himself from his thoughts, “You’re more unavailable than I am!” and his anger surfaced, and defense mechanism kicked in, “So! I understand perfectly! You wanted proof that I cared for you above everyone else at a time like this?”
“Vegeta, I” Goku gulped before deciding to just come out with it. He said, “I wanted confirmation that we existed beyond the bedroom.” Admitting something he probably shouldn’t, he said added in a muddled explanation, “I didn’t know what I wanted from you, at first, I thought that this was gonna be a fling. I thought that it might satisfy some temptation I had been trying to but couldn’t resist. I never thought you’d take me seriously. You fought and fought against me even trying to be with you in the beginning. I didn’t know if it was because you liked playing games or because you knew…”
“Knew what?!” Vegeta growled as he halted in mid-air, his heart rate rising, “Knew that this was all a fun hobby for you at the end of the day- is that what you are trying to say, Kakarot?!”
“No!” Goku blurted, embarrassed and overwhelmed.
“So you never really wanted to be with me, is that it? You just wanted to fuck me just to see what it was like?” Vegeta sneered, obviously more privy to the idea than Goku thought he would be. He had hoped Vegeta hadn’t even thought of it.
“Vegeta,” he scrambled to explain himself, “I just didn’t know what it was going to be like. Don’t you see? Something inside of me told me to try to be with you, even against my better judgement, and once we crossed that line, I knew we could never go back. But I didn’t want to! I still don’t want to! You’re everything to me! Being with you means the world to me!”
“Forget it! You’ve got some nerve…” Vegeta scoffed, offended, but there was more to it than that, more going round and round his mind. He remarked, “If you had been a more sentimental fool for your part I might have forgiven you for admitting this, but you willingly telling me that this meant nothing to you just sealed the deal.”
“Vegeta… That’s not what I meant at all,” Goku said, seeing his defeat, but unwilling to accept it.
Vegeta, though his anger was surprisingly controlled, managed to say, “I used to let all of my hate fester over you, Kakarot. I was so guarded against you because I ALREADY KNEW that you didn’t know what you wanted from me, but to hear you actually say it… makes all the difference. How can I allow myself to feel anything but hate towards you? You wasted my time, deliberately—”
“Vegeta, damn it, no, you’re gonna listen to me, now!” Goku yelled, cutting him off in his speech. He knew he’d royally fucked up [pardon the pun], but he wasn’t willing to let those be his last words, “I’m trying to say that I love you!” and the look on Vegeta’s face changed ever so slightly. Goku couldn’t tell how he was feeling, or what he was thinking, so he just let the dam open and words raced from his mouth; “I didn’t realize it until recently. And it wasn’t Renjiamori and it wasn’t Gohan and it wasn’t Piccolo or the boys or our wives that made me realize how I felt about you- it was you. You drew me in. I wanted you because of you not some desire just to have you, but I didn’t understand that, so I tried to make up other reasons. Once we got into the relationship, you were so bent on keeping us a secret, and I didn’t know how to bring it up.
“I have always been closer to you in ways I’ve never been with anyone else. I have always had this understanding of you that I never could quite explain and I didn’t know what to call it. I just didn’t know what all of that was until now. All those vibes I get from you, the rush of talking to you, and the way we are when we’re together… I’m in love with you, Vegeta, and it’s not something that’s going to go away. It’s not something that I’m just going to wake up from one day and change my mind about. I’ve always felt a connection with you that I can’t explain to anyone else because I don’t think they’d understand. I never needed anyone else’s approval except for yours! You balance me out.
“But, you fight me on everything every chance you get. You argue with me and try to push me around. You’re mean to me, usually for absolutely no reason. I didn’t get it. I didn’t get why you were always so harsh. Now I see it; you care about me, too. You spent a lot of time invested in me, and I never paid attention to it before. You wanted me to listen to you and take your words into consideration, and you think that I don’t, but I do! I see where we went wrong. I want it to work. I’m sorry for all those things I said to you.”
Vegeta was dumb-founded to say the least and completely caught off guard. He couldn’t believe his ears and his heart didn’t want to believe them, either, for his sanity’s sake. Emotion welled inside of him. Could this really be happening? Is Kakarot serious? Could he really love him?
Goku added, solemnly, “I know I said some terrible things, Vegeta. I’m glad for the man that you are, I’m glad to know you, and I want you in my life as more than just friends. I need you in my life, Vegeta, don’t you see that? I couldn’t walk away from you if I tried.”
“Hoh…” Vegeta finally responded, “You’ve done it before. You’ve walked away from everyone in your life- HOH!” he cried angrily, suddenly getting a hold of himself, he did what he always does, and denied every attachment he has with him, “I’m not going to do this with you! For the last time, leave me alone! You’ve embarrassed me enough! I have more important things to think about! Why don’t you try patching things up with your children and stop pestering me over these meaningless matters?!”
Goku couldn’t stop him from leaving, and he knew better than to try. He almost wished Renjiamori were here to calm Vegeta down, or to take some of the blame in the matter like he had been. Why is he only just now seeing what a strong character Renjiamori had, and what great skills he used in conducting himself in conversations, even ones as uncomfortable as these?
Still Goku thought of a million things to say that he didn’t. No, of course only the most pig-headed statements came out of his lips, and Vegeta only heard the bad parts. How could he blame him, though? Why should Vegeta trust him again? Was that the type of honesty Goku needed to be sharing with Vegeta? Every time he tried to make the situation better, he only succeeded in making it worse.
::: Process :::
Gohan awoke alone in the woods [as per usual] but felt a million times better and a tad bit different. That’s when he realized what he’d done and he took some time to admire the handiwork of Bulma and his Saiyan heritage, come back to life. It was getting to be dinner time, not yet dark enough for the moon to have any effects, but he figured he should find some cover soon.
The thought of Renjiamori was still fresh in his mind, and he knew it was not something that would escape him with time. His heart was crushed, his mind nearly defeated. As he soared through the sky, wishing for a separation between himself and his thoughts, Vegeta appeared in front of him. He hurled Gohan to the ground before he could even blink. The crash he made didn’t hurt him so much as it had startled him and he only had a moment to wonder what Vegeta had to say before the man began talking:
“So, boy, do you feel better, now?”
Gohan grinned at him as he stood out of the little crater his body had made, but there was sadness in his eyes. He replied, “I feel a lot number than I did earlier.”
Vegeta smirked, he understood that feeling, but he still started up with him and said, “Don’t ever do that again. You scared the wits out of Bulma, and I had to get your father to bring me out here to see you. You know he can’t handle needles.”
Gohan was saying, with a clear undertone, “You got him to use one, somehow,” and his mood was something Vegeta hadn’t seen in the young man, before.
“Don’t get smart with me,” Vegeta “humphed” as he drew in closer to him. He was curious about the change the more he heard him speak, so he asked, “What’s your goal, anyways? Fighting Jeremel won’t bring back Renjiamori.”
“Who said anything about fighting him?” Gohan’s voice dripped with venom Vegeta wasn’t used to, and the young man admitted, “I’m going to kill him.”
“Are you now?” Vegeta spoke as he quirked a brow in mockery of Gohan’s plan. “I’d like to see it happen, but he’s way out of your league.”
“Are you telling me this because my Dad had a vision or something, or are you just trying to tell someone what to do since, you know, you don’t get to do that very often?”
Vegeta slapped him, open palm, straight to the cheek and across his ear, and that was taking it easy on him. He said, as Gohan’s ear rang in pain, “I’m telling you because you’re being irrational. That last blow would have killed you if it weren’t for Renjiamori. Use your anger to deal a heavy blow, yes, but fighting blindly will only get you killed, too.”
“Someone has to do something!” Gohan blurted out, his shoulders shaking in his anger, “You and my father are too busy arguing about the obvious so all we do is stand around! And when he gets here we wait for him to attack! I’m going to go all in. I’ve made my decision.”
Vegeta asked, ignoring Gohan’s declaration for now, “What do you mean ‘arguing about the obvious’?”
“Come on Vegeta,” Gohan shook his head at him, and there was such dismay and yet such a certainty on his face, Vegeta only listened earnestly, “The secret is out, now. We all know you two were together. It only made sense for you to be. Trunks confessed he has feelings for Goten and they’re going together, now, too.”
“That’s interesting,” Vegeta mused, not taking Gohan’s opinion too seriously.
The young man could tell, and so he figured there was no better time, and told him how he really felt about it, “I don’t see why you had to make this so difficult for my Dad. He’s simple, you know that. All those invisible walls you use to keep yourself back, he can’t see them- he doesn’t understand all that. He just feels things out.” A calming clarity overtook the dark shadow on Gohan’s face for a moment as he explained, “That’s just the type of person he is, he goes off his gut, and if his gut is telling him something’s off, of course he’s gonna act on it. So he broke up with you,” Gohan smiled sadly, “It never should have come to that. Things wouldn’t have been so public if you had handled the situation from the beginning.”
Vegeta knew that Gohan had talked explicitly to Renjiamori, but he was still astonished by what he was apparently knowledgeable about and what he had to say. He was too shocked even to reply, so Gohan continued speaking.
“The problem is that you go off your instincts, too, just the same as he does, except you’re so busy trying to stop bad things from happening to yourself, you don’t realize the good things that fall into your lap. Pardon the pun,” He half smiled, “I, on the other hand, am far too much of an observational person to not realize when I’ve met my match. I fell in love with Renjiamori, now I finally understand what all the fuss is about. I am sorry I blamed you; you know I didn’t mean it. You were just the only person I knew who would understand, just like my father is the only man who can truly appreciate and satisfy you, even with both of your flaws and all.” Suddenly Gohan became very serious and said, “I’m stricken with anger, Vegeta. All of my hate has surfaced, and it will not be satiated until I do something. I will not back down or ignore it. I will not deny it and let it swell up inside of me, just to ooze out of my pores one way or another.” Without delay Gohan left.
Vegeta felt that his words had put him under some sort of spell. It was almost like talking to Renjiamori, all those years ago. He stood deep in thought for some time, well hidden beneath the canopy of the leaves under the darkening sky, with many things on his mind to consider.
::: Waves :::
“Gohan, what do you think you’re doing?” Piccolo asked him gruffly as soon as he landed beside him. Vegeta had just talked to him an hour earlier, but when Piccolo approached him about it he seemed rather reluctant to discuss all of their conversation. Piccolo went to Gohan wearily as he lay at the foot of one of the largest tree trunks, well underneath the foliage in the shade, hiding from from the moon and he looked as though he was dozing. Piccolo knew better and he paused patiently for a reply.
“I’m waiting,” was all that Gohan said.
“Why did you need your tail back, Gohan? You can’t control the Oozaru form…” Piccolo stated matter-of-factly.
“What does it matter to you?” Gohan replied in a grumbling voice.
On this inside this conversation hurt Piccolo but he dismissed it as he said, “So you think you loved him, huh?” and he smirked. He hated to see Gohan like this; he just wanted to get the young man to understand it isn’t the end of the world, necessarily… yet. “You told me you didn’t have any feelings for him.”
“Yes,” Gohan sighed, “I lied. I don’t expect you to understand…” Piccolo remained silent, he could tell Gohan was trying to decide if he should really open up to him. To his satisfaction he decided to and finally said, “I know that it seems ridiculous. I hardly even knew him. But I’ve never felt anything like this before. Not with Vegeta. Not with Videl. We never even kissed, but I can think of nothing else. I never got to tell him how I feel. I never got to express how much just a few days in his presence changed me.”
“I don’t see any change in you, except for this anger that you’re letting control you.”
“What have I done, Piccolo?” Gohan looked him dead in the eyes for the first time in their chat, and they were pools filled with pain, and his jaw was set. He did look different, but Piccolo couldn’t place how and he didn’t understand the question. Luckily Gohan continued anyways and looking away he said, “I haven’t done anything bad or hurt anybody. I’m not… losing my mind. I just want to kill Jeremel, is that so bad? That suddenly I have no fear of death? I’m willing to take the plunge, no matter the freezing temperature or crushing depths of the water.”
“Gohan,” Piccolo sighed, “You’re right, I don’t understand. I just want you to think this through, that’s all. Don’t go out there and waste your own life, when you could be helping Goku and Vegeta take care of this mess.”
Gohan chuckled a little to himself, “What good are they? They aren’t doing anything about this,” with the lift of his chin his eyes seemed to stare ceaselessly into the nothingness of the darkness around him, and he said, half to himself, “I’m surprised by you, Piccolo. I thought for sure you’d try to tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about and that I don’t really love him.” Piccolo didn’t respond, but Gohan went on to say, “I couldn’t pin-point the moment I realized it, and I can’t explain the emotion itself, but this…” he looked back up into Piccolo’s eyes and the Namekian saw the turmoil there, even in the shadows, and Gohan said, “This waiting around thing is not gonna work for me. I don’t care if I don’t know how to use the Oozaru form. Maybe I can learn. I haven’t done it since I was just a boy, it should be different, now. Besides, it’s something new that neither of them have tried yet and if you need to stop me, just cut off my tail again.”
The cynical tone in Gohan’s voice bothered Piccolo very much and somehow he was suddenly reminded of a time when he’d come across Vegeta, alone, perched high atop a cliff, sitting at it’s very tip, letting his legs hang over. He hadn’t thought of that night in years. There was such a parallel in Vegeta’s behavior that night, and Gohan’s right now. He thought it might be best to leave him alone. So he simply said, “I’m here if you need me Gohan, but it looks like you’ve got a lot on your mind.”
Gohan nodded in his direction, still never diverting his unfocused eyes, and said, “Thank you, Piccolo. I know you care, but you can’t help me with this one.”
