Reviews for Monster 2: Resurrection

Wow everyone is seriouly trippin' in the chapter! I'm not sure of these are just A) insane greusome visions that preclude the ultimate resurrection of "satan," or B)if it's really happening. Personally I get the impression that this is C) a stunt meant to dredge up feelings of horror and remorse for taking the lives of people who were once dear to them, (hence why Gokuu saw Bejiita and Bulma saw her father) Or even D) All of the above. I was never good as multiple choic. Anyhoo, great compelling, thought provoking chapter. It was particularly vivid, but I guess blood will do that every time.

Another fabulous chappie! One thing that really strikes me about this story is the extremely atypical father son dynamic between Gokuu and his sons. I really like how juxtapposed Gokuu and Trunks' relationship is when compared with that of Gokuu and Gohan. Even in his swirling madness, Gohan still respects, loves and all but worships his father, or at least his memories of him. But again because of his insanity he and Gokuu can no longer have a true relationship or even normal conversation.

Then there's the complete opposite with Gokuu and Trunks. Unlike Gohan, Trunks is of relatively sound mind and body. He's spent more than enough time with Gokuu where they could have developed a real, healthy father son relationship. But instead, Trunks not only doesn't worhsip him, has no fod memory of him, and he hates him.

Gohan always seemed to remind Gokuu of the good in him, the inspirational hero in him, while Trunks always makes him feel flawed, inferior, and less than what he might have wished he was.

I just think it's a really interesting way you've set that up in the story. (Not sure if that's what you were intending but I think it's awesome)

ALSO! I meant to mention this long ago, so I'll do it now. I think it's strikingly unique the way Gokuu deals with his always lingering feelings for the "late" Bejiita. I love how he'll jump back and forth between feelings of anger, shame and remorse, then talk at great length about how much he misses him. A fact that was made SO very clear a few chapters ago when he fantasized about what he'd do to Bejiita's till surprsingly sexy corpse if he ever found it. Some how Gokuu missing Bejiita enough to want to fuck his "lifeless" body just to be with him again screamed "I love you" is a strange and sweet and somewhat sick way. ^_^ Just thought I'd let you know.

Great job on everythnig. I can't begin to praise the craft, love and care you so obviously wove into every word of this story.

    *off to read chpt 6*

How do you do it? Just how do you do it? I had my hands to my mouth in terror the whole time! Haha, really this chapter is terrifying. I can tell the words and images were just flowing as you typed this. The descriptions, the emotion, the pure...horror was amazing! I am so inspired to go write my own chapter of terror right now from reading this! I LOVE IT! So...yes...great stuff!

Hmmmmm, I have a feeling it wasn't acutally Trunks that pulled the prank (if you want to call it that), but I certainly think he had something to do with it, or at least had knowledge of it. *shudders*

O.o...what the hell? Other than Bulma telling her history of she and her father, I don't recall the old man being in the story before. Did someone go and dig up his dead body? Yuck, either way.

I know who would want to mess with Goku's head like this, and parts of the reasons why, but certainly not all, and I am hoping to find out soon!!!!

LOL. And yet again Camaro you manage to surprise me. Starting off the chapter with Goku complaining about how the bathtub is too small? Hilarious! I almost expected the bath to have bubbles in it too, and then I laughed my ass off when it did.

Ewww... I don’t blame Goku one bit for trying to bitch out Trunks after that. What a way to end your bath. Now, how DID the little SOB manage that I wonder? Oh, I also found his “I’m a little sweet child and never do any wrong” charade around Bulma to be interesting. OMG! EWWWW! I’m totally freaking out at the leeches right now. I despise them. Well, really, I despise all slimy worm-like creatures, but can you blame me? Oh, that little bastard... if the object of that scene was to get me to dislike Trunks for the time being, you definitely achieved your goal Camaro.

You know, if I was Goku when he turned around and saw that foot, I would have walked out of the room pretending I hadn’t seen it and complained in a loud mutter about going to watch tv or something until I fell asleep (while trying to sound like I thought everyone else was asleep and I was only talking to myself). As horrible as it may sound, I would have left Bulma there and pretended nothing unusual had happened. Kudos to Goku for actually moving towards it. Oh, and on a side note, my dislike of leeches is nowhere close to my dislike of maggots (ewww).

Well, that last part was definitely a surprise. Why on Earth did the body’s appearance change from Vegeta’s to Bulma’s father’s? Did Bulma even see Vegeta, or only her father? And why DID it take Bulma so long to wake up? Either way, I’m glad that I would have been in the living room by then. I was looking forward to a new chapter from you sooner, but you always seem to make up for any waiting. I look forward to the next chapter!!

CHPT 4 - Another fabulously written and thought provoking chatper I must say. One thing I always loved about your stories is that you can so dramatically change the world the characters are in, while still keeping their personalities and bizarre circumstances somehow gounded in reality. It's really a gift how you manage to juggle all the insane, gruesome, or angsty happenings in the story, but still take the time to really and truly delve into and psycho-analyze the minds of all major and not so major characters. All while still keeping the dialogue and prose "fresh" and interesting. My hat (if I wore hats) is really off to you in this chappie! *off to read next one*

AAHHH...I loved this chapter so much...and now I'm terrified, haha. You say I'm good at horror? YOU are! Wow, I'm all by myself here and freakin out after this chapter! Ok...now that my terror is know, on with the great writing.

"I will say though, I was almost thankful for it, gazing around dismally at the scene, at the bloodied, circular stains of fingerprints on widow glass, at pieces of skin still wiggling in the wind, dangling from the walls where brains were liquefied from force. Jagged, torn strips of flesh blew like pieces of forgotten confetti at a child's birthday party, so at home in the mass horror of their surroundings, drifting this way and that as though they had every right to do so, no contrast with the world they inhabited."

Great imagery here. Being a fan of detailed horror myself..hee hee, I really liked this scene and the pure gross gore in it. Great great.

I enjoyed your paragraph before this chapter. You use a program that uses no spell-check? Well, I am impressed because I see very few errors in this story, as well as your other stories, too! I thought that Goku's views on Religion and Science was very interesting and well-worded. In the end, those who abuse others over beliefs or ideas truly are weaker and ignorant. I liked those paragraphs. Let's see...I wrote down the things I really liked in this chapter. Ah...Trunks is Sid Phillips..you know, from Toy Story. He's the creepy kid who mutilates toys and destroys everything around him. And yes, as Goku says, that drawing of Vegeta on the wall IS horrifying! The kid is just scary...and that scene scared me, too. Which is good! The details and descriptions of Vegeta's decaying body being alive is very haunting. I could totally see this scene being in a movie and giving people nightmares for weeks...so, good job at that. So, yes, I loved this chapter and it makes me very excited for future events!

Woo! It's me finally. (chainsawgames on AIM) I just discovered aff was working the other day and I'm finally able to read this again. Anyhow, I'm certainly enjoying myself. I do have a few qualms about the rather volumous amount of... *thinking* Goku is doing. Not that he *is* thinking, but it's a lot of... I hate to say it, rambling. I was starting to lose interest and ended up just scrolling through a bunch of it. Sorry, but I'm not very good with lot's of introspection in stories. I like the action, and fortunatly, there's also quite a bit of that. I think I am suggesting you try to focus more on what's happening than what's in Goku's head. It *is* interesting, and I saw a number of really insightful things being said, but I can only take so much of it. I know from personal experience how easy it is to get caught up getting into a character's head, but I still can't help wishing it was more condensed. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to finally getting to see Vegeta again, but I'm also wondering what happened to the 'real' Vegeta. Did they combine? Is he in hell? What happened to him...? And whoever else was with him... Was it Zarbon? I can't remember. Anyway, just wondering where they went, and looking forward to the next chapter or fifty. =P

Thanks Camaro. That was awesome. I love the feeling of restlessness throughout all the chapters I've read so far. A kind of foreboding like the foggy, uneventful parts of a horror videogame when you expect there to be monsters, and there are none...yet. I've grown so accustomed to the cynical, skeptical, lustful, world-weary Goku you created that he is like a real person I want to hold conversations with.

Most stories seem to be so focused on plot that all segments of the story have some kind of important function for the development of the plot. But I appreciate that for all the outrageous things that you write, you don't stick to that strict framework. Goku's thoughts about religion and science and his observations about human psychology in general are one of my favorite things about the Monster series.

I also had to smirk at those paragraphs you wrote about Goku's fantasies about Yamcha; were you just teasing those people who only care about the sex scenes? It's nice to know Goku has self-control left anyway.

I look forward to the reunion of father and son, Camaro-style. At least I have the assurance that you have a high distaste for incest. :) had to say that

    Take care comrade

To Lola: *pointedly looks the other way*

To Camaro: You’re very welcome :)

    And now, onto the review.

“Jagged, torn strips of flesh blew like pieces of forgotten graffiti at a child's birthday party...”

Interesting phrase, but I think you meant confetti (LOL).

Hmmm... so Yamcha knows Goku’s secret huh? Goku really shows (or thinks about showing) a little of his naughty side here and I love it!

“And then it dawned on me that both science and logic, and religious beliefs, in themselves, where ultimately, crippling blind faiths when you came down to it.”

Exactly! Why do we have to choose to solely believe in one or the other, or either of them? Whatever happened to thinking outside of the box and keeping an open mind? See, it’s for reasons like this that I truly love your stories and that makes them unique. Each chapter makes me rethink something about myself and I enjoy that.

Now, how does Trunks know that ‘Vegeta’ is from Goku’s dreams? And if so, why can’t Trunks ever see his face? I can’t help but think that’s significant somehow...

*sigh* Of course the government would keep a body that was potentially the cause of ‘SIN’ if it was essentially dead except for the brain activity... idiots. I mean, the man is literally coming back to life, albeit very slowly, and they think it’s something to celebrate, with maximum security around to protect them. *shakes head*

Another great chapter, and I think I might have gotten my question answered about who that third “M” was. Of course, I wouldn’t put it past you to change that :P Later!

*shivers* Oh, the idea of Goku and Yamcha... Girl, you sure know how to turn on your readers. It seems to me that Goku has repressed a lot of his sexuality, and I'm almost afraid that he could take it out on Yamcha and either end up hurting him or killing him, one.

Dun Dun Dun...HE LIVES. Fucking bastard. Boy, you really know how to make a girl love and hate a bad guy all at the same time. I can't wait for him to take Goku on his wild ride. ^_^

    Great chappy, love.

I met her in a club down in old Soho
where you drink champagne and it tastes just like Cherry Cola
    C-O-L-A Cola.
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance.
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said, "Lola"
L-O-L-A Lola, lo lo lo Lola
Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy,
but when she squeesed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo Lola
Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand
why she walks like a woman and talks like a man
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo Lola
Well, we drank champagne and danced all night,
    under electric candlelight,
she picked me up and sat me on her knee,
She said, "Little boy won't you come home with me?"
Well, I'm not the world's most passionate guy,
but when I looked in her eyes,
I almost fell for my Lola,
Lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo Lola
I pushed her away. I walked to the door.
I fell to the floor. I got down on my knees.
I looked at her, and she at me.
Well that's the way that I want it to stay.
I always want it to be that way for my Lola.
    Lo lo lo Lola.
Girls will be boys, and boys will be girls.
It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world,
except for Lola. Lo lo lo Lola. Lo lo lo Lola.
Well I left home just a week ago,
and I never ever kissed a woman before,
Lola smiled and took me by the hand,
she said, "Little boy, gonna make you a man."
Well I'm not the world's most masculine man,
but I know what I am and that I'm a man,
    so is Lola.
Lo lo lo Lola. Lo lo lo Lola

Oh...no, no, no Goku. Don't do that with Yamcha...You can't be that desperate, can you? And if the Devil is coming back with revenge on his mind, how much worse will it be if he founds out you've been playing the harlot? Especially if he is making this return trip just for you?

Yikes...Trunks has a little TOO much insight when it comes to 'Vegeta' and Goku. I do have to wonder how all that information is being passed onto him. It's creepy to think about.

Scientists...they can be so stupid at times. Why, oh WHY would you keep a body that should be decaying for over two years? Let alone, three or four? Wouldn't someone find it unnatural enough to want to destroy it? Haven't they ever heard the line 'curiosity killed the cat'? Ah, well, they have all just acheived the Darwin Award.

    Excellent chapter Camaro!
