Ah-ha! Now we're getting to the part of the story I've been wanting to see! Personally, I'm glad the action's backed off a bit now. There's been too much going on for Roy and Ed to even begin thinking about being together. Now both they and Al and Noa have time to figure things out! :) I feel really bad for Roy. He knows he's gay and in his heart of hearts wants Ed but society has beaten him down so much that he thinks he can't live and love like he wants to. so sad. Maybe he'll figure something out on the trip back to the States. Is Roy going to leave the military? Is Ed going to go with Roy to visit the reservation? Is Roy's grandfather still alive? I wonder what he would think of Ed...
Ever since I saw the movie, I've wondered about when Ed and Al stopped looking for the bomb. It had to have happened. My thinking was like Al's; they are just two people who can only accomplish just so much and two against the whole world is asking a bit too much. There had to come a point when they realized just how hopeless and impossible a task it was and given up the fight. I wondered if Ed ever regretted coming back to this world to try and reclaim the bomb. I mean, he and Al gave up everything they had ever known to get the bomb back and, once that became an impossibility, it had to hurt like hell to realize that everything they'd done, everything they'd sacrificed, had been for naught! (Also, I imagined that when then bombs were dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima that that just had to kill their souls. I know they felt responsible for all of it, classic Elric angst. But that's getting a bit ahead of things...) I guess the big question now becomes what do Ed and Al do with their lives now that the search for the bomb is no longer the driving force in their lives? How do you give up your goals and carry on? How do you just live? (In Ed's case, I hope it's with Roy! :D)
Update soon!

I'm at a loss for words, and trust me, that don't happen often!!
When I saw that this story had been updated it took me a minute to remember that it was one of the ones I read. Once I had remembered, I thought of Izzy and then had to re-read the end of the last chapter to catch back up.
Thank you for updating, I admit I wasn't looking for it, largely due to the amount of FMA yaoi I've been reading XD I've kinda forgotten some of the stories I've read. Please don't wait so long to update, I really like this story and I loved the interaction between Al and Ed at the end of the chapter. And the interaction between Roy and Ed, that was good too. Ah hell, it was all good. (*has been awake going on 20odd hours now, forgive me if I'm rambling*).
Basically, the gist of the review is, update soon please!!!

Another chapter, yay! Anyway you should be pleased with this chapter, I just hope that you continue soon. You scared the hell out of me when it looked like Ed had died, how could you kill Mustang though? That was mean, I always liked him just because he could always get a rise out of Ed. Oh well, at least Roy Taylor and Ed can work on getting together, geeze kiss the golden boy already! I love this story and can't wait for the next chapter :)

Right, I'll try again, I wrote this really long kinda insane review *Sleep deprivation from not being able to stop reading your story* but as I tried posting it, AFF chose that moment to go into its apparently daily updating so it didn't quite make it up. So I'll condense what I said cos I can't quite remember. Love this story, just spent many hours reading all 23 chapters, you must update soon please. Your chapters are really long and I needed to take breaks so my backside didn't fall asleep but it was still good. I bow to your obvious talent and to Zakai for being your Beta. I love how you killed off Mustang, so undignified to get hit by a car and die on the way to the hospital but he deserved it for everything he did to Ed. I couldn't believe that you killed off Izzy, I was like nooo, and then you shot Al and I was like WHAT??? *Did I mention the sleep deprivation?* I was so glad that the seniore got what was coming to him and I was cheering Roy on.
You handled all the angst so well, you could feel (or at least I could) some of their pain. But I loved the softer moments too, between Ed, Al and Izzy. It was so sweet, I was in fits when she mashed Al's crotch and didn't understand what she had done, so like a child.
Ok, sleep's now tugging at me and I can't remember what else I wanted to say so, congrates on the brilliant story, please post the next chapter soon.

You need encouragement you say? Here. *hands over an enormous big box of it* The rest of it will come FedEx. I hope you've got a spare room or three to hold it all! :D
*stares dumbfounded, hand clutching chest* Oh my God. I can't believe it. It's just...oh my God! Mustang! *voice trembles, eyes well with tears* I...I just...I can't believe he's gone! ROY!! *breaks down into wailing sobs* Run down by a car, drowned in his own blood. *shakes head sadly* How ignoble. The mighty Mustang brought down by such an ordinary thing. So hard to believe. wow. SO did not see that one coming! :) It really hurts to know that my hero, my superman, my adonis on a pedestal is only human after all. ;_; Roy standing in a beautiful meadow just waiting to cross over. At least I have this one last pristine image of him. I'd like to think that Mustang was there to keep Ed from crossing over, to goad him into wanting to live and go back. I don't know. It's like this was Mustang's last gift to Ed before he left for good. (Damn that hurts to say!!) I do believe that Mustang really did care about Ed and would do just about anything for him. He just didn't love Ed the way Ed loved him. (Damn that hurts to say even more! T_T)
*sigh* Roy Taylor, what am I going to do with you? *bangs head on desk in frustration* Answering by not answering is not an answer you turkey! RRGH! :) I love him but I so wanna knock him upside the head right now! :D I was kinda hoping that that crack in the head he got from the door would help him make a decision, make him choose, but I guess not. You have to follow where your heart leads you, Roy. No one should live a lonely life. It will be hard on you both, probably more than I can even begin to imagine; but if you love each other, it will be worth it! :) (Look at me handing out trite cheesy advice! LOL!) Ok, confession time. When I read Roy's fears of what could happen to him and/or Ed if they were found out, I was suddenly reminded of a scene from Brokeback Mountain, well, two scenes actually.
SPOILER ALERT! SKIP THIS PART IF YOU DON'T WANT ME TO RUIN THE MOVIE FOR YOU! :)
The first scene was when Ennis, played by Heath Ledger, was a child and his father took him to see what had happened to (or what I believe the father and his cronies had done to) some poor guy who was suspected of being gay. Why in God's name would a man subject a child to this?! scared straight (literally) my ass! ignorant son of a bitch. The things they did to him were unspeakable and I cringed to imagine how horrific his death must have been. The second scene was when Ennis found out Jack, Jake Gyllenhaal's character, was dead and, based upon his memories of the first scene, Ennis imagined that Jack had been murdered in spite of that bitch wife of Jack's saying it was a tire iron accident. pish. The bitch was so lying! grr!
END SPOILER
These two scenes really do make me fear for Roy and Ed. Roy wants to take Ed to South Dakota but, given that Brokeback Mountain took place out west and people from very rural areas tend to not be very open to things considered outside the norm and given the time frame we're in (mid 1920s right?), that might not be such a good idea. *sigh* Ok, Ok, I'm sorry. I'm getting way too in to this (again) but I just did some googling and society was awful to gays and lesbians back then! Not that things are a walk in the park nowadays but that's beside the point. My point is that Roy is definitely justified for feeling this way and wanting to approach this slowly and carefully. I feel for him, for them, and wish them well! :)
You have no idea how happy I am that the Seniore is finally dead! AND by Roy's flames too!! WOOHOO!! YESSSSS! :D
Update soon!
