Very well written and expressed. I always like your stories, the'r always simple and descriptive, but this was by far the most different and well thought out fic of them all. Oh, and about the 9th chapter to Heart of Fire, it was not really rushed, but it was so as not to bore the readers who went through 8 chapters of stuff already. The fact that Vegeta cared brough Goku back. He knew Vegeta was there through his words gathered the strength to get out of Tarneus' head. Remember, he was witing for Vegeta. As soon as he knew he was looking for him, through the bond, he waited for him. It was their bond that brought them together. His feelings made him weak, and that's why he was easily over powered by his dark side. I hope that explained enough for you.
