I'd follow the thread, especially if it was licorish...or given to me by my dead, many greats grandmother in a secret tower room of my castle home through a hidden door revealed by a glowy rose and who had a habit of being in another room then the one i run to and wearing her hair super long and white and attaching said thread to a ring and the thread being magic and invisible to other people...
