This was an amazingly beautiful story. I absolutely loved it. The emotion was poignant, the characterization was beautiful, and the descriptions were a delight. I'm amazed that you are not flooded with reviews. I guess readers nowadays are like the men that visit the glory holes - in and out without so much as a thank you. But I'll linger a little longer and say thanks for the good read. :)

Overall, I loved your story. Ed and Al were very fleshed out, very real, and they effectively drew me in. Beautiful descriptions, though you have to be careful to avoid wanton repition. The resolution, however, left me feeling a bit uncertain as to the boys outcome. Still, a wonderfully crafted story. I'd love to see more from you, particularily with this pairing.
