This is torture to read! The angst! But it's too well written...so I keep reading the train wreck that is Heero. Y'know, I keep seeing a warning about WAFF, but aside from Randy (who I feel sorry for already because he really seems like a sweet character) I keep waiting. How in the world is this going to turn into WAFF? Even if Hee-ass does "see the light" as it were, he's dug himself in a bit deep at this point. If he admits anything for Duo it feels like it would almost make the whole situation worse. Even if he does get things straightened out with Duo, he is in no way stable enough to carry on a relationship, certainly not one where Duo's going to benefit any at least.

As to your Author's Note "chapter" (sorry, read everything in one night. :P), it really doesn't matter how smart you are anyone can fall into a situation like Duo's. That's all conditioning, and I completely agree with your instincts with him. I mean hell, on a much milder level I can name a number of friends who all have college degrees who are still working menial jobs simply because they've been conditioned throughout their lives to feel that they don't deserve anything better than what they already know.

So here's hoping you get back to this fic someday, and wishing for a happy ending (even if it doesn't fit. ever the optimist)

Don't you just love ppl who don't know what they are talking about? I myself am an avid Gundam Wing fan and I understand the characters all to well. That is the reason I fell in love with the series in the first place. I agree with your POV on this. All of the chararters had lives before the war. Duo had nothing. All of the pilots knew how to make connections to secure themselves for after the war. Duo did not. The other pilots all had someone to care for them and love them uncomditionally that survived the war. Duo did not. Duo's life was nothing but tragedy before he got onto that Sweepers ship. Living as a street rat, the gang you hang out with gets killed by soldiers or the plague, the Maxwell Church massacre, it's no wonder the kids messed up and addopted the name Shinigami. All those who've ever cared about him died. I can perfectly understand why Duo would turn to a life of crime, drugs, and prostitution. He's running away to a place that's safe for him. A place that he knows. Because for him, it was his first home. Duo says it quite plainly himself "I may run and hide, but I never tell a lie." No ones ever helped him to move on....Thankyou for letting me rant. This is a great fic and have enjoyed reading it.

Realistic. Heartbreaking. I just read all nine chapters, because I hadn't seen this fic before. All three of them are broken, torn and remade in fragments from the war. I can't hate Heero, nor Relena, or blame Duo for what he's done to cope.

The Gundam boys are not a bed of roses. You can't do what they did and come out whole. Thank you for recognizing that.

I hope that they can heal each other, forgive each other. Please keep writing.

I love your story...and for all thosw that don't like your storyline welll they don't have to read it....me, I find it very real

It was fun watching Duo cringe when Relena spelled out her suspicions. I chuckled at Heero's reactions in the kitchen, knowing Relena probably thought she was making him jealous. Okay, I might have that all wrong, but I just love the mental images of their expressions and of the elephant in the room. I love the angst and buildup. Thanks for updating this. It can be a pain not having privacy when your muse hits.

Wow. Your warnings were legit weren't they? I usually can't really commit myself to angsty stories so completely because it starts manifesting itself in my RL, but I couldn't resist with this. Its so gloriously dirty and you just want to immerse yourself in the filth of the streetlife to protect Duo, but he'd prolly punch anyone that tried. Anyways, I am loving this, update when you can.

Oh, and all the comments about Duo's choice of life? Don't worry about it, 02 is a LOT of peeps favorite character, and people get protective of him. I know I get testy when people make 03 Quatre's puppy. (Weird, I know, sorry.) Your arguments are valid, but people who don't want to see him in a tough situation are going to ignore any story that puts him there, especially if its by his choice. Anywho, had a grungy blast reading this, keep up the good work, and I can't wait to see the reunion of the pilots.

Awesome- i hope it gets finished someday. I felt the relationships were really deep and complicated which i love. excellent writing skills.

This is gorgeous and suspenseful. It's like this big, crashing, rollicking train wreck where you know that no one will walk away unbroken. You've made me feel sorry for Relena. Shame on you!

Seriously, though. I'm enjoying this story. It's hard to watch Duo destroy himself as much as Heero's destroying him. It reminds you of watching Leaving Las Vegas with Nic Cage where each drink just pushes the inevitable another step while dulling his pain.

Please, please keep this coming. I'm only sorry it's taken me this long to discover this fic and read all seven chapters.

I've been hoping for an update for this fic for so long! The drama that's playing out here is so thrilling to read, especially with the suspense at the end where Relena feels Heero may be cheating on her. I hope to read more soon!
