A surprise

Hilde opened her eyes and ed. ed. It was her birthday She reached over and found the other half of the bed empty. She frowned and rolled over. Duo was gone. She sat up then fell back on the pillows, smiling as she thought about the night before. It had been wonderful. She stretched like a cat, sliding her hands over her body. She closed her eyes and thought of him. She sat up. Where was that boy? Hilde slid out of bed , grabbing her robe, slipping it on as she walked from the bedroom. The house was quiet, really quiet. She frowned as she went into the kitchen. No Duo anywhere. She shook her head, maybe he was in the yard. She went back to the bedroom and grabbed some clothes. She slipped into the shower. As the hot water washed over her body, she sighed. He didn't even stick around long enough to wish her happy birthday. She shrugged as she turned off the water and stepped out. Maybe he forgot. The shop was really busy right now. It must have just slipped his mind. She dressed and went out into the shop, greeting all the employees. She looked around the yard, when one of the workers came up to her.

"He's not here, Hilde. He said he thought he'd be back by lunch time."

She nodded and thanked him. She wandered back to the house.
As soon as she was out of sight, one o f the guys walked up to the other one.

"You know, Joe, I don't like doing this. Duo should know better. She's gonna find out and........."

"She won't if we keep quiet. Besides if he pulls it off she'll know tonight. Be sure your there at 4."

"Yeah, Yeah." He said as he went back to work.
The day went slowly for Hilde. She made lunch and waited for Duo to come home but he didn't come. She put the extra food in the frig and started to have her doubts about the whole situation. She shook her head and stomped into the computer room and sat at the desk. She started to do the work she needed to do.

At 4 o'clock the doorbell rang.

Hilde sighed and went to the door. As she opened it and was surprised when a messenger stuck 2 dozen pink, white and yellow roses in her hands along with a note. She stepped back into the house and looked at the flowers. She laid them on the table and fumbled for the note. As she looked at she recognized Duo's wild scrawl on it.

She smiled as she tore it open and read the note. After she read it she went to find a vase big enough to hold all the roses. After she found one, she went to get dressed. Someone was coming to get her in an hour. She didn't know what it was all about , but her heart fluttered in her chest a little bit. A little from fear and a little from nerves. She found a black strapless number from the last fancy party they had attended on Earth. She held it up and giggled. She had knocked the socks off all the pilots and a few diplomats, too. Relena had been jealous and had said so. She had made her promise that Hilde would let her wear it sometime. Hilde had agreed, but only if she wore it for Heero.

Relena had reluctantly agreed.

Hilde slipped it on and stood in front of the mirror. She adjusted the top so she had some nice cleavage showing. She turned back and adjusted her hose so that the seams ran straight down the middle of her legs. She slipped on her black strapless shoes and stood in front of the mirror again. She grinned, Duo wouldn't make it through the night.
At precisely at 5 PM the doorbell rang, Hilde gathered up her bag and her jacket and went to it. As she opened it she was surprised to see an man dressed in a white suit, and a limo parked on the street behind him.

"Miss Schbeicker?"

She nodded as he took her arm and escorted her to the car.

"Mr. Maxwell has arranged for your ride, tonight. My name is Peter and I am your driver for the evening."

He helped her into the car and then said ,"Please make yourself comfortable. We will arrive at our destination shortly."

He made sure she was settled and went around to the front of the car. He took a deep breath and climbed into the drivers seat. He glanced at the girl in the back, knowing Duo Maxwell was one lucky son of a bitch.
Hilde leaned back in the plush leather seats and smiled as she ran her hand across it. Duo had out done himself this time. She wondered where the next stop would be. She relaxed a bit as the car drove along, listening to the soothing sounds of the classical music playing on the speakers. Her mouth shot open when she saw where the car pulled up. It was the most expensive hotel in town. It was a restaurant on the top and several party rooms. She was pretty sure they weren't staying here but still......

She was broken out of her awe when Peter opened the door and help her out of the car. He lead her to the door where they were met by the doorman. He looked her over and smiled. "Miss Schbeiker, I presume?"

She nodded.

"Come along." He said as he grasped her arm. She turned to Peter who smiled and waved, letting kno know he would be there later to take Duo and her home.

The doorman pulled Hilde into the hotel and took her to the front desk. "Miss Schbeiker."

The woman looked up and smiled. "Come along with me ,Miss."

Hilde at this point was dazed and confused. She had no idea what was going on. At first she thought it was a joke, Duo's way to get her out of the house, but now she didn't know. The woman lead her to a large ball room, and opened the door. "Enjoy your birthday, Miss."

Hilde stepped into the room with her mouth open. It was huge! People were milling around. Some who she recognized some who she didn't. A waiter passed her and slipped a glass of Champaign in her hand. She looked around the room, trying to find Duo, but her spotted her first. He hurried over to her and pulled her into his arms.

"Hey, babe. Happy birthday!" He kissed her soundly on the lips, causing her to spill her glass a bit. "How do you like one of your birthday presents?"

She looked up at him, "Oh, Duo! It's great. But why? I would have been satifi......"

He put his finger to her mouth, "Because, babe, there is so much more. Oh by the way, you look wonderful!" He said as he planted a kiss between her breasts, "And I can't wait to......" He trailed off as another kiss was placed there.

"Duo Maxwell!" came a shout, pulling him from Hilde's cleavage. He looked in her eyes promising more later. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself.

Dorothy Catalonia walked over to him and stuck her finger at him. "When's this party going to get started?" She paused as she saw Hilde. "Ah! The guest of honor has arrived. Time to begin!" She retreated as Duo pulled Hilde towards the center of the room.

"Duo!" Hilde cried as she was pulled to the center of the ball room. When they reached the center, Duo Hoisted her up on his shoulder and yelled to get everyone's attention.

"HEY! EVERYONE! HERE'S THE GUESS OF HONOR! HILDE!"

Everyone stopped what they were doing and raised their glasses and clapped. Some yelled Happy Birthday. Hilde's face turned bright red as she held on to Duo. He helped her off his shoulder then pulled her into his arms. The room got quiet as they stood in the center.

"Hilde," Duo said, softly, but loud enough for everyone to hear. "I arranged all of this for a reason a special reason."

Hilde looked up at him, "For my birthday?"

"Partly, but for something else." He looked at her as he dropped to one knee in front of her. "Hilde." He grasped her hand." I love you and I think it's time I made an honest woman out of you."

Hilde frowned at him, "I....."

"Shh, Hilde..... Will you marry me? I want you to be my wife."

Hilde looked at the man on his knees in front of her. She looked at the small black velvet box he held out to her. She gulped and said." YES!" Then leaped into his arms, knocking them both on the floor. The entire room burst in to spontaneous cheers and laughter.

Duo rolled Hilde over to her back and kissed her, then he put the ring on her finger. He pulled her to her feet and pulled her to the buffet table.

"Come on, babe! this is your night! Let�s eat and dance and just have fun!"

The party continued late into the night.
After the last guest stumbled out into the night, Duo and Hilde followed them out. Peter and the limo was waiting. Duo grinned at Peter as they climbed into the back. Peter slipped into the front, closed the smoky-colored window between them and started down the scenic route home.
Duo pushed Hilde down on the soft seat, kissing her neck. "I've all ways wanted to make love in a limo. Are you game?"

She nodded as he continued to kiss her neck, working slowly to her cleavage. He reached around and grasped the zipper of the dress. He pulled it down slowly. She was slowly becoming exposed to him. When the zipper was down far enough he pushed down the top, revealing both of them to him. Two hours later the exhausted couple climbed out of the limo. Hilde walked slowly to the house as Duo gave the driver some extra money for the extra time. He followed his girl into the house. He grinned as he saw the trail of clothes, she was leaving behind. He watched as she fell on the bed and rolled over to face him. She opened her arms as he came across the room. His clothes had taken the same path as hers did and they lay in each other arms , naked all over again. It was dawn before the two for them fell into a deep exhausted sleep.
Hilde opened her eyes and looked into the sculpted chest of Duo Maxwell. She kissed the hard skin and lick the closest nipple, causing him to jump.

"Morning, Duo."

He looked down at her, "Hmm, Don't stop. What way to wake up."

She giggled and started to move down his body, when there came a pounding on the door.

She sighed as did he.

"Who can that be?" Duo asked , frustrated.

They climbed out of bed and made their way to he door. Duo was mumbling under his breath as he pulled it open. To his surprise and Hilde's, all the pilots and their girl friends stood in the door way. Relena smiled as she pushed past Duo and into the house. The rest followed.

Duo closed the door and looked at them. "Why are you guys here?"

He stepped closerHildHilde and pulled her into his arms.

"Well, we are here because sometime last night you proposed to Hilde and told us to all come for breakfast."

Hilde's hand shot to her mouth. "Oh, hell, I remember that."

Duo looked at her, "Which one?"

She rolled her eyes at him, And kissed his cheek. "Both you silly baka!" She turned to the group ."I am not prepared to feed you all." She sighed.

Trowa stepped forward. "No need to worry. We came prepared." He held out two bags of groceries. Relena grabbed Heero's arm and pulled him toward the kitchen.

"Heero and I are going to cook."

Heero glared at her . Relena turned and looked at him with an equal glare. "Shut up, Yuy. You will do this."

30 minutes later, the food was ready . As they all sat down to eat Hilde smiled. She looked over the group of people filling her small kitchen, then over to Duo. Who could want more? She had her heart's desire and great friends. Friends that would do anything for them and they would do anything for. Life was good and she was happy. She looked around and caught Duo's eye. He winked at her and blew her a kiss. She watched all the happy faces and took a bite of the food Heero and Relena had made.

Life just couldn't get any better than this.

A great guy and great friends. Hilde smiled totally content with her life.
