It was a nice summer evening: warm with a slight breeze, no
irritating bugs biting her, just calm and colorful as the sun was getting ready
to set. Times like these made her thankful to have a private balcony. ‘If only
it could stay so serene.’ Her face soured at the thought. ‘No androids tonight,
Bulma,’ she scolded herself. ‘I have better things to
think about.’ She took a deep breath as she leaned back in her patio chair.
‘Are we really going to do this?’ she asked herself. Even
though the idea excited her more than she cared to admit, she couldn’t deny the
nervousness. Whether she was just anxious or worried, she couldn’t tell.
Whatever it was, it certainly wasn’t fear.
‘Bulma Briefs doesn’t fear
anything,’ she thought with a laugh until old memories of being absolutely
terrified popped into her head: meeting Popo, Piccolo
taking Gohan, Nameksei
exploding. ‘Okay, so who’s counting?’ It was unimportant, because she was not afraid of possible extreme
embarrassment. ‘Wait. Am I trying to assure myself or change my mind?’ Either
way, her heart wouldn’t slow down, and the butterflies in her belly were going
full force.
A few months ago, she never would’ve imagined she’d be
sitting here about to invite another man to share a night of passion with Yamcha and herself. How they’d reached this point in their
relationship was rather interesting.
Things had been in a funk since her desert bandit had been
wished back to life. She had been the one to suggest they spice things up, but Yamcha caught her completely by surprise when he mentioned
ménage trios. The idea was tossed aside for the time being, but the more Bulma thought about it the more the idea fascinated her.
Soon any attractive person she saw was inserted into a very vivid and illicit
daydream. It was brought up again not much later and the possibilities hashed
out.
If they were to
actually do this, it would have to be someone she trusted not to sell out to
the tabloids or try to blackmail her father. Yamcha
had thought she was being paranoid at first, but once she pointed out what
effects bad publicity could have on his baseball career, he decided it wouldn’t
hurt to be cautious.
He wanted someone who wouldn’t be uncomfortable around them
later, someone impartial, preferably a stranger. Bulma
shot that suggestion down with the last requirement, though. It had to be
someone who was without a doubt disease free. There was really only one
possible option, and it was one that Yamcha wasn’t
too sure of.
“Vegeta??
You can’t be serious!” he had said.
“I understand he’s not your first choice, but think about
it. He’s not out to ruin daddy’s company. He’s not a friend who will feel
awkward around us or vice versa later on. Hell, we’re lucky to get a grunt or a
curt ‘move’ if we’re between him and the fridge when he’s hungry! And I know
for a fact that he’s 100% healthy. Dad did extensive testing on him after he
blew up the gravity simulator.”
“What makes you think he’d agree to it anyway?” he had
asked, not bothering to hide the exasperation in his voice. She only shrugged.
“Well, there’s no harm done if he doesn’t. I’m sure he’d
just chalk it up to human weirdness or something.”
He told her he’d have to think about it, and he did. Yamcha thought on it long and hard. He hated to admit that
what she’d suggested actually made sense. He could only imagine how weird it
might be hanging out with friends after allowing them access to their most
intimate moments. Could they even resume being just friends afterwards? What if
they decline the invitation? That would surely make things awkward between
them.
And even if they decided they would be okay with it, who
would they ask? Krillin? Goku? Yeah, that wasn’t happening any time soon. He had cursed
under his breath a few times that Bulma didn’t have any girlfriends.
It was about a month before he finally made a decision.
Although liking the idea in theory, Yamcha wasn’t
sure that he wanted it enough to be willing to put aside all the animosity he
felt toward Vegeta. Unfortunately for him, Pandora’s box had been opened in a sense, filling his
girlfriend’s head with all sorts of uncharacteristically naughty ideas. She
wanted it even if she pretended as though it didn’t matter. Bulma
had always been an open book to him, and he knew how she felt, just as he knew
when he came back from the dead that things had somehow changed between them.
He would do it for her, he resolved. He’d do anything for her. He told her he
wanted to.
A bird landed on the railing in front of her, pulling her
attention away from the now orange clouds. She glanced down at her watch.
“8:30. He ought to be eating right now.” Bulma
got up and went in her bedroom, making sure to check herself in the mirror.
“Girl, you look good enough to eat.” She turned toward the door, laughing at
her own bad joke.
She went downstairs and headed straight for the kitchen. To
her surprise, it was empty. Then she heard the explosion come from the den.
‘Ah!’ Sure enough, there was Vegeta sitting on the
couch with a lap full of food watching some cheesy action flick. Of all the
earthling habits he could’ve picked up, zoning out in front of the TV as he ate
was one she never would’ve pictured him doing. ‘Even homicidal aliens need to
pass the time, I guess.’ She plopped down next to him on the couch leaving the
width of a person between them.
“Whatcha
watching?”
He made some unintelligible noise with a mouthful of food.
She fought to not roll her eyes. It’s not like she really expected him to
respond anyway. Food usually wins out over anything else. It was the first rule
she learned when dealing with Goku, and judging by Vegeta’s manners, it appeared to be a Saiyajin
thing.
She shifted, twisting toward him just a bit, and propped one
foot up on the coffee table. He gave her a sideways glance but quickly turned
all attention back to his food. It was almost gone.
“Is it any good?” Bulma asked. He
shrugged and stuffed an entire egg roll into his mouth. There was only one more
left. She rested her elbow on the back of the couch and propped her head up with
her hand. She watched as he devoured the last egg roll.
Obviously she was waiting for something. He swallowed and
grabbed the bottle of water to wash it all down. After guzzling the whole
thing, he looked at the woman next to him. She was just sitting there watching
him as if it were the most interesting thing she’d ever seen. It was annoying
the crap out of him.
“What?”
“I was just wondering…” she trailed off momentarily. “Do you
ever get lonely?” His eyes narrowed and chest expanded as it took in the air
needed unleash his thoughts, but she spoke again before he could respond.
“I know. I know. You’re a cold-hearted bastard who doesn’t
need friends and whatnot.” She smirked as she recounted in her own words what
he had told her when he first moved in. She’d offered her friendship, but he
wasn’t interested.
“That’s not what I’m asking. What I wish to know…” She
leaned her head further to the side, exposing more of her neck, as she bit her
bottom lip and smoothed her hand down her shirt. “..is
do you…” She scooted closer to him. “…get
lonely?” She raised an eyebrow to help emphasize the word.
He stared at her silently. Analyzing, she realized. She
smiled at him.
“I have a proposition for you.”
~*~
Vegeta paced back and forth inside
his bedroom. Her offer was tempting. “No strings,” she’d said. “Just sex. Your hand can only do so much,” she’d said.
Vulgar woman! Although he had to admit, she had a point
there. Still, why was she offering such a thing? He inwardly shrugged as he
acknowledged that he knew little about human culture. From what he’d observed,
it was all over the board. For every behavior, there was a polar opposite.
The only catch to all of this was that her human companion
would be involved, but they were only to give attention to her. He wasn’t quite
sure what she had implied with that statement. Did she assume he might want to
fuck her friend? Or was she assuring him that Yamcha
wouldn’t try anything? Vegeta wasn’t certain and
really didn’t think on it too much.
The question was whether or not to accept. He admitted that
he was intrigued, but did he trust her? Oddly enough, he realized he did. She
left him alone when he asked, provided him any necessities; besides, her
sincerity was obvious in her smell when she slid closer to him on the couch.
She wanted him. “Of course, she did,” he snorted.
“Ah, fuck it.” It’s not like he had anything better to do.
And after having the possibilities dance around in his head, it would either be
his hand or her tonight. Might as well do something different
for a change.
