Cepheus: this
story once was posted on my account on FF.net, but due to the higher rating of
my seventh chapter, it got deleted. After many months of me thinking about it,
I decided to never post this fic again, because it couldn’t be helped the way
it was, and I hadn’t the time since I had already four stories up. But now,
after speaking with a fellow authoress, I decided to post this fic again, in
this site where I can write as much graphic details as I want. It had been
already up but due to some error in the AFF.net account, all the reviews and
the chapter got deleted.
Be aware that this has no BETA and I will try my best.
Have a look at my other fics on this site!!!!

I am Nothing
Chapter 01= Realizations
“So... Tyson Granger did it! He gained the BeyBlade
World Champion title with his team! The BladeBreakers are the new World
BeyBlade Champions!”
Jazz Man’s voice echoed through the whole stadium, piercing
all people’s ears, while Brad Best and A.J. Topper made remarks about the
match. They were not the only ones stupefied about the result of the last match
between the Japanese boy and the Russian brave teen, and they were excited as
well.
It wasn’t often the Champions were defeated by some
unknown opponents, this was something never happened.
“The Wolf eat it’s tail,
Brad!”
“You can say it aloud, Top!”
Kai was deaf to the cheers of the audience, too lost
in his thoughts to even bother; his eyes watched at the majesty of his flaming
Beast who was flapping her wings above his head, fire coming out from her tail
and her feathers, and stared in admiration of her beauty -her golden eyes were
shining with happiness, her feathers burnt from the fire, her tail whirling
behind looked like pure silk; she was absolutely glad to be free again.
Kai shook his head and coming out of his stupor he
tentatively raised his hand, which was holding his BeyBlade tightly. He was
deeply afraid, afraid the mighty Beast would not return to him again, not after
what he’d done to her and to the Japanese team.
His relief couldn’t be greater as the Phoenix turned
her warm eyes to him and with a high piercing cry flew towards him, already
curling into a ball of energy, returning into her chip without hesitation.
All around him the other Beasts, now free from Wolborg’s grasp, floated in the air, completely unnoticed
by the crowd -normal people couldn’t see the mythical creatures. Plus, the
spectators were cheering Tyson so they couldn’t notice a thing.
Following Dranzer’s example the Sacred Spirits turned
to their masters and curling into balls of energy they dove back into the Bit
Chips, their souls warming up the Bladers’ hearts.
Kai merely glanced at the relief clear in his fellow
bladers’ faces, too caught with his own to care, questioning himself on the
words to tell Dranzer so the Phoenix could understand his grief. ‘Dranzer...
I...’ he couldn’t express what he
was feeling right now, there was too much pain, too much grief and humiliation
to be spoken, there was regret since he let himself fall for Black Dranzer,
plus he felt he didn’t deserve the creature’s trust anymore.
They’ve been friends ever since he was a baby, he
couldn’t recall a single moment where the two hadn’t been together, but he’d
crushed their friendship in order to gain pure power.
<<Don’t say anything else, Master,>> was the warm answer of the wise Phoenix as she glowed lightly, <<you’re
forgiven>>.
Kai felt a smile linger on his lips, ever so slightly
that no one noticed it, his heart full of the warmth he’d lost for so long all
the while he was connected with the dark Bey. It was only now he could notice
how badly he messed up, how much deep and important was the bond between him
and the red Phoenix -they were to be together, no matter what.
His attention shifted from his Bey to his teammates, who were also greeting back their companions
-Tyson standing there in happy bewilderment, unbelieving he was the winner, as
his great Dragon flew all around him, surrounding his master as he danced in
joy, smiling excitedly.
Maybe that match helped him grew up, maybe he matured,
maybe now he could understand, maybe…
Tyson finally defrost and throwing behind his head he howled
aloud, expressing all the happiness he was feeling, jumping around like the bad
copy of a rabbit while he hugged everyone on his way.
Kai sweatdropped slightly
and shook his head, Tyson would never change, after all he was Tyson…
Turning to the others he saw Max almost crying as he
clutched his fingers around his faithful Bey, joy mixing with relief as he ran
around, matching Tyson’s own display of happiness.
After running around both find their way to each
other, and stumbled on the floor carelessly, laughing and yelling excitedly.
The Chief was in a corner, tears running freely down
his cheeks from invisible eyes as he hugged desperately his laptop, still not
believing they won, not caring at all if his Beast kept yelling, “<jeez
Chief, calm down! We won! You don’t need to freak out!>”
Then there was Rei. He was simply standing there, the
only one who did not lost his Beast during the fights, a soft smile lingering
on his lips as he rested his head on the wall, near the watchful and caring
eyes of his former teammate Mariah, his white fangs
shining as he sighed deeply.
No matter he was still hurt from his fight against the
Falcon from the Russian team, he wanted to be there so he could cheer his
friend Tyson, in the fight that would decide the doom of the World -and Tyson
was the winner, he made it against odds, he reached the top becoming the
Champion.
Mariah met his eyes and then looked down at her Beast,
now back in the place she deserved, a smile flashing on her face too as she
looked up at her teammates, but they were too busy
greeting their protectors to pay attention.
Kai suddenly felt a rush of tiredness and looked
sharply away from them. They looked so… happy, he thought bitterly. So
happy a shadow of their joy could even reach him, but it was faint and light
-he could not feel the way they were feeling.
His crimson eyes followed the battle field to the
opposite bench, meeting the sight of the Russian team.
During Tyson’s fight with the redhead Kai’s mind was
filled with memories so powerful and strong he thought he’d lost his mind
-memories blocked away for so many years were flowing back, finding their way
to him and mixing and twirling around.
But whilst this wasn’t that bad, since he could now
recall all the things that were once unclear to him, there was one single thing
that alone shocked the slate haired blader to the maximum.
No matter how strange it was, no matter how incredible
it could appear, he was a friend with the Demolition
Boys.
Friend.
Funny how he refused to befriend with others because
of his training at the Abbey, just to discover at the end he had friends
there.
That dreadful night, the first real glimpse of memory
he recalled whilst Boris presented him to Black Dranzer’s Bey again, he wasn’t
alone. When he picked the dark bey, determined to
control and enslave its powers in order to escape from
the Abbey, he wasn’t the only blader in the room.
Bryan, Ian, Spencer… Tala.
They were there with him that night, standing some feet away pleading him not
to use the horrible power of the Bey, not to unleash her devastating desire of
destruction, but Kai couldn’t pull away, her power was so fascinating, so
charming, she lured him to her and used him to free herself from her prison.
She’d needed someone with a strong soul to feed of,
and she chose him as her master, knowing her counter part was also in the hands
of that boy. He was the vessel of a power he couldn’t even feel the presence,
he was the only one who could help her raise from her
ashes…
And as he gave her not just his strength but his mind
as well, forming a bond with the Beast, his memories had been pushed back, and
forgotten. He couldn’t bear her fierce power since he was merely a child, and
he collapsed, and the Beast returned to her cage, to wait until her master was
ready to take her in the World.
The other Demolition Boys were caught in the middle of
the enormous power the Dark Phoenix unlashed, so their memories were stolen
too, to be used as dark energy, making them faint deadly.
Half the Abbey fell down that night, because the power
of the children’s memories was enough to permit the yami
being to rule over the place. Until it stopped, she couldn’t feed anymore on
them since they were out of order.
She returned to her chip, knowing her power would be
released again -she had just to wait, some more.
Kai felt guilt raise in his
throat, it was all his fault.
He knew the reawakening of the Dark Being helped not
just his memories to resurface, but also his friends’ own, but he couldn’t make
himself look straight into Tala’s icy blue eyes to ask him if he was right.
What if Tala and the others were still blind? What if
they were not remembering anything?
Or worse, what if they hated him because he was the
cause of their memory loss? What if they hated him for abandoning them inside
the hell hole, while he lived a much pleasurable life outside?
<<You have to take your chance and ask them,>> Dranzer’s charming voice chirped, <<We will
connect and ask>>.
The crimson eyes teen knew she was right -he couldn’t
live cowardly, he needed to ask and face whatever
answer he would get.
Kai reached out mentally, linking his own thoughts
with the Beast’s own to touch Tala’s, and with a last hesitation he brushed Wolborg's mind, ‘Tala…?’
There was silence for a moment, then
Tala’s voice echoed through Kai’s and Dranzer’s connection.
‘Kai?’ was
the uncertain answer. ‘You… do you remember?’
The slate haired blader found his way to the redhead’s
eyes, meeting them with his crimson ones, and saw no hatred nor anger into them
-just clear azure pools, but he could read the deep emotions in them as if they
were still children -still friends.
There was happiness shining into Tala’s eyes, and a
warm feeling of friendship, and Kai knew instantaneously he was holding no
hatred towards him.
They were… still friends.
‘Da,’ he whispered back, ‘I do…’
Tala’s face melted into what Kai knew was a smile, a
faint but a true one, and he smiled back feeling he was finally back with the
ones he belonged to.
‘Me too…’ Tala
replied, then he turned his gaze to Boris, fearfully
glancing at him.
Kai followed his gaze and as he took the hate filled
look the violet haired man was sending to Mr. Dickinson and Tyson he couldn’t
but shudder slightly.
He knew Boris was as bad as he had been when Kai was
young, if not worse, and both he and Tala knew too well how he used to take a
defeat, but no one of them could know what he was going to reserve to a loss
like that.
They were both deeply afraid and their faces mirrored
the same pale expression of doom. What would happen if Boris decided to snap
against the BBA and Mr. Dickinson?
There wouldn’t be time to warn them, there wouldn’t be
time to protect them from his anger -but Boris wasn’t the real problem.
It was Voltaire, Kai’s grandfather.
‘I am afraid,’ Kai whispered absentmindedly. ‘I am really afraid’.
He meant it. For how much he wasn’t used to express
such feelings with anyone, it felt somewhat good to share the fear with the azure
eyed teen on the other side of the battlefield, it helped a lot. Tala was
feeling that way too.
‘I know,’ he replied. ‘I know’.
On the stands, in-between lotsa
of cheering people, Robert from the Majestics looked intently at the two
captains, his brow furrowed in confusion. He could easily see the two were
sharing some kind of emotion by their eyes -he was good reading faces, this was
why he felt he could understand Kai more than his teammates-
that meant they did know each other.
It was not just a short cooperation coming from Kai’s
betrayal for the Russian team, it was something deeper
than that.
Ever since the german met
Kai, he felt there was something in him that couldn’t be explained by
Tyson’s remarks, ‘he’s just a sourpuss, loner and stubborn… he likes to be
alone all the time no matter what we try’. He knew there was something more
than what Kai showed to the world, and as patches of his past were revealed to
them, Robert realized it went down deep.
Robert saw Boris just twice,
and too further away from him to be able to have a proper look at the infamous
enemy and still, he knew he was evil. He could read it in his eyes, in
the way he spoke and moved, each gesture controlled and analyzed to appear nice
and caring, but Robert knew better -he was rotten inside.
Robert made a note to himself to speak privately with
the slate haired blader once out of the stadium. He knew Kai respected him more
than any other blader around, because he was the older and he was mature.
“Yaaaah!” Tyson howled in satisfaction, “You’re spaced out! Hug
move!”
He launched himself on the unaware Kai, hugging him
tightly and Kai hoofed being squeezed by his younger companion. He hadn’t seen
it coming, and he was paying the price for that.
“Yay! Group Hug boys!” that was Max.
The remaining BladeBreakers ran towards the other two
and jumped on them, hugging each other breathlessly, making the older boy lose
his mind connection with Tala.
It was deeply annoying, it was unnerving, but at the
same -it felt good. He felt somewhat safe in the hug, as a part of the group,
something he never let himself feel.
When the others finally let him go, seeing he was
turning a suspicious shade of purple, he shook his head to make the flush
disappear and looked again at the Demolition Boys, finding them staring openly
at him: he felt deeply embarrassed by the BladeBreakers’ display of affection
and blushed, seeing faint smirks on the pale faces.
His right hand slipped in his pocket pulling out a letter.
It was plain paper written in black ink, but it was hell itself. He thought a
lot about writing it, in the end deciding to actually do it, but he remained
unsure until now -but as he looked at his friends at the opposite side of the beydish he felt determination resurface. He wouldn’t let
Boris hurt them anymore.
He would give the letter to Mr. Dickinson.
It was a complete description of all the things not
just Kai, but also the other kids at the Abbey suffered, the training, the punishments,
even the torture. It had been hard to write some things down, but he did, and
now it was ready to be taken.
It was the evidence the BBA needed, Kai was sure
otherwise they would never find it by themselves. Voltaire was just too good
hiding things.
His Beast knowing his determination connected again
with Wolborg, but also with Falborg, Seaborg and Wyborg. Kai sighed and looked
fiercely at them all.
‘I’m gonna have Mr. Dickinson read this,’ he explained, ‘I wrote down all that’ concerns the
Abbey: I will free you, even if that will be the last thing I do… I will make
Boris and Voltaire pay’.
‘You sure?’ Bryan
asked as he glanced at him concern hardly showing in his eyes.
He nodded ever so slightly, turning to the older man
and stepping towards him; the other BladeBreakers were dancing around, not
caring about him, but Mariah frowned looking at him as well as Mr. Dickinson
and Bruce, who left his place in the stands to come down and cheer his son.
“Do you need something, my boy?” was the gently demand
of the wise old man. “You seem pretty concerned…”
Kai swallowed the huge lump in his throat and with no
words spoken he handed the letter to the BBA’s chairman, who took it confused.
He noticed Kai’s hand trembled slightly, and Kai always was in control of his
emotions.
“Please,” Kai whispered urgently, “read it as soon as
possible, it’s really important…”
With that he turned to the beydish
as Jazz man’s voice echoed in the stadium again, “Now the two team captains
will shake their hands! Come on guys, let’s cheer two
teams who made their best!”
Kai passed near Tyson, Rei, Max and chief, who looked
happily at him, with an unreadable expression, his mask again hiding his
features, stepping forwards as Tala did the same, but then he noticed -some
abbey guards were gathering around the rest of the Demolition Boys, and two
were advancing with Tala too.
“<What's happening?>” Kai hissed, eyeing
suspiciously at them.
Tala peered behind in a flash, “<dunno,>” was
the lightly worried reply of the Wolf.
The red haired teen offered his outstretched hand to
Kai, who took it with no hesitation and gripped it tightly, the contact making
his stomach squirm.
“<You did a hell good job in that match, Wolfie,>” he whispered, truthfully. “<It was a shame you
lost to him, though… you have to stop being so nice,>” Tala smirked lightly.
“<The same with you in the match against
Spencer,>” he replied with a pout. “<You would know not to risk things
out -plus Spenc’ was a little disappointed you
decided not to fight>”.
“<I knew they would win, even if Bryan lost it a
little too much,>” Kai shook his head disapprovingly.
“<Tch,>” Tala sniffed.
“<You know how’s he when he starts to get angry… he loses his mind, we all
know it too well>”.
Kai raised one eyebrow quizzically and releasing his
friend’s hand he turned, ready to made his way back to his team, when…
… someone grabbed his arm,
forcing him to stop.

Cepheus: that
was the end of the first chapter. Rate and review if you liked it, it’s even five
pages longer than the original version! It’s still smaller than I am used to,
but having the chapter down already made it hard to me to add more to the plot.
