Legacy
How did he get himself into these kinds of situations? He and Roy had been on a mission, completely unrelated to eh civil wars going on around them, when they stumbled onto the army. Thousands of men, marching in close formation to invade their torn country. Ed drew a transmutation circle and Roy burnt it into the ground. Roy weakened quickly, having been shot in an attempt at peace-keeping; his wound simply refused to stop bleeding.
“One more effort, Colonel, one more.” Ed encouraged, “Bring them to me, baby.” The flames flickered behind and around the army, pushing them closer. They flicked out with Roy's consciousness, but it didn't matter, they were close enough. After placing Roy in the middle of the circle, Ed knelt and prayed to whomever was listening to spare his lover's life. A single tear fell as he clapped his hands and placed them on the circle.
A flash of blue light and a red circle flared and pulsed outwards. Screams were cut short as a 5 mile radius became nothing but dust. Minutes, hours, days later, Roy dragged himself up from unconsciousness to find himself alone, except for a huddled, lifeless form in a red cloak. He crawled over and held Ed in his arms. A bitter smile flashed across his face as he snapped his fingers.
When the defending army arrived, two bodies so melted together as to be unrecognizable, surrounded by desert; the enemy had simply vanished. The only identifiable features remaining were two State Alchemist watches melded together, as inseparable as their owners, but still bearing the names of Edward Elric and Roy Mustang.
