Title: Frühling
von Gedächtnissen
Genre: Introspective
Fluff/Sap/Some smut
Rating: NC-17 for the bit of smut
Pairing: Roy Mustang x Alfons
Heiderich
Words: 4,289
Note: This is the
continuation to Wen_Renee’s RoyxAlfons
PWP, “International Relations”. This was originally just going to be some smut,
but then it turned into a fluff-filled, introspective monster on me. XD;; I hope you all like it anyway!
Night fell
in Aquroya just as it fell everywhere else; even with
the waves of water rushing around him, the sound of the people outside,
creating a hubbub of excitement even in this sinking paradise of a town, the
moon still rose and the stars still twinkled in the sky, even in a place that
Alfons could have sworn would have everlasting daylight. They had went from
stand to stand, shop to shop, building to building, seeing everything even when
the afternoon sun was baking down on them (I’m
going to get a fit of sunburn tomorrow, I just know it), Roy dressed in his
casualwear and Alfons dressed in his own old dresshirt, suspenders, and slacks.
They were
laughing…
Laughing
together like nobody else existed in the world.
It
actually…felt sort of like a real vacation.
If Alfons had decided to dress the part, in any case…
Alone. He was alone.
The room was
empty, covered under a blanket of night, cicadas singing outside and the
stillness weighing hard on his chest. He was laying
sprawled on his bed, facing the ceiling, on which the damn fan still wasn’t working.
“Huh…?”
He blinked
once.
Twice.
The room
was the same.
It was just
him; nobody else was in it. The lights were off, the window was open, the
curtains were fluttering in a slight breeze, and Alfons was alone.
Alone…
“Roy…?”
No answer.
Where had
he gone off to…?
He had
pushed himself up off the bed, blinking his eyes again in the dim light.
Nope. Still nobody there. Still alone.
Sort of
like how he had woken up in this world. A dark room…a warm bed…a nonworking
ceiling fan…
“Mr. Alfons Heiderich?”
A handsome face met him from across
the room…watching him. Even through the thrum of the respirator, the voice was
audible…quiet, but somehow louder than even the machines that kept him in
suspension, kept his heart beating, kept him from finally closing his eyes and
ending it, right then and there.
Black hair, falling in a sort of mop
over a Japanesque face, a single slitted black eye,
and an eyepatch covering the other…
Blue and white uniform—military
perhaps?—with plenty of medals on the lapel, clean-cut appearance, soft smile…
That smile.
Alfons couldn’t speak, could only
blush…and nod his head.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you. My
name is Roy Mustang…I’ve heard everything that happened from Edward. As much as he is willing to tell me, of course.”
He was speaking in English…?
And…
Edward…was alive?! Where…?
“You don’t have to worry. You’re in Central City Hospital. You’re going to be okay…you’re just a bit
weak after the surgery.”
Surgery…?
“Your lungs.
You were dying by the time you arrived here…we managed to do an impromptu
surgery on your lungs to keep it from killing you. You’re not at perfect
capacity, though with time you should get to almost full strength.”
His lungs.
Surgery.
It didn’t take much of any thought
to keep Alfons from crying.
It was hard
to believe that that man…the man who had watched over him as a favor for a dear
friend…for Edward who was lying injured in another wing, unable to move (and
incapacitated by various doctors, nurses, and the like, according to various
sources)…was in fact the ruler of the very country he had ended up falling flat
into. Rulers always seemed to be very tough beings…strong. Strong and gruff,
like German men were raised but how Alfons never seemed to fit. Usually with a
set jaw, tall, muscular frame, and a sort of loud, almost
booming voice.
Nothing
like the gentle tone, gorgeous face, sparkling wit, and warm sense of humor
that Roy Mustang carried around with him at all times.
“You really don’t seem like a ruler, Roy.”
Alfons was sitting on the hospital
bed, playing with a few wood-block puzzles that Edward had left for him, since
the books were all read and the journals were all filled up with every sort of
fancy, equation, story, even sketch and ‘blueprint’ that Alfons could think of,
the remains lying on the side of his bed like a sort of train-wreck mess.
“You don’t really seem like a Rocket
Scientist, Alfons.”
Alfons could only puff out his cheek
at that, glaring at the snickering man sitting beside him.
“What do you mean?” Alfons asked.
“I had always pictured men of your
position to be a lot more…inflexible, like Fullmetal.”
“A scientist must be open-minded,”
Alfons said with a chuckle, moving one of his plastic pieces on the block ‘gameboard’. “Edward is a bit of an anomaly, I’m afraid.”
“Ah…so you’re saying that all rocket
scientists are as pretty as you where you’re from?”
“P-pretty?!” Alfons all but
sputtered. In his surprise, he almost flung the block-puzzle across the
room…my, wouldn’t that have been tragic. Even though Alfons was well enough to
be off the respirator, he still had trouble walking.
“It’s that feminine face. Are you
certain that all men where you’re from are—”
“I don’t look like a girl! I may
take after my mother, but I’m not feminine!”
“As you say,
Alfons. Though I did hear from Fullmetal about how well you know your
way around the kitchen…how you cleaned the house, cooked the meals…”
“I’m going to kill him.”
“With your ladle,
Alfons?”
“You’ll be next!”
It was unheard of to threaten to
throttle the leader of your country, but somehow Roy Mustang did drive him to
that brink. Much like Edward, though in a sense, a bit worse
so than Edward. Edward didn’t know how to time his quips, but Roy
had always had the advantage in the power of the Snide Remark, sending poor
patient Alfons Heiderich into fits of annoyed spurts of rage, or even whirling
him in an embarrassed blushing frenzy.
Maybe that
was one of the reasons why he…
No time to dwell in the past now. Do that
when you sleep…for now…
It was
amazing how quiet the hotel itself was. They were on the top floor, on a
private wing, but even in the mere hours of the evening, no sounds were from
any of the hallways or any of the rooms that he had passed, sending everything
around him into an eerie sort of silence…something Alfons might have expected
from one of Al’s favored horror novels, or one of those mystery novels that Roy
plowed through in a night (sending Edward Elric’s
infamous study sessions to horrible horrible shame).
Was it
really this late at night?
Or was this
hotel really that empty?
Even the
front desk was vacant as he slipped out of the building, closing the front door
with a hardly audible snap, though he really didn’t have a reason to try to
close it quietly. It wasn’t as if anyone was outside, and it was a public
place; it wasn’t as if anyone would mind if someone had closed it loudly rather
than quietly.
Sea breeze, starlit sky, cool night air…
Why was he
even out here?
Even among
the beautiful lights, reflecting off the water, and the sound of the insects
chirping hovering over his head…almost like they were singing.
Aquroya was a beautiful town, wasn’t it…the city of water.
Water everywhere he looked, soon to sink, but still surrounded with an
otherworldly air of brilliance…
Though
maybe that was just him…
“Alfons…”
A single hand,
holding out a small seashell, putting it into the chubby palms that reached for
it.
“This is a seashell—isn’t it
pretty?”
“It sure is, Father!”
This was
silly.
There was
no reason to be out here by himself…
Roy
wouldn’t have been outside this late…maybe to a nearby bar, drinking down
whatever issue he had while Alfons slept, or even…
Well.
There was
no harm for he himself being out in the night, was there? The air felt cool
against his skin, tousling his hair about and…
“Do you want to swim, Alfons?”
The little boy looked towards the
water, then to the taller man, nodding vigorously.
“Yes!”
…A swim.
A swim
sounded nice.
* * *
Alfons Heiderich had to have lived in the
driest country in the world, with the way he was staring at everything. Water
left and right, everywhere you looked…a lake, with a few buildings still
standing and one hotel still erect in the premises, with a group of older
buildings and restaurants around it…
And all the young man could do is
take his shoes and socks off, letting the water hit his toes like a little kid.
His pants were rolled up around his legs, blond hair whipping in his face and
pale skin covered in a warm pink blush—and his eyes were sparkling, glittering
in the sunlight.
“Roy!” His voice had risen to an almost
unfamiliar pitch, underlying with laughter even as he kicked his feet into the
pools for the umpteenth time that day without seeming bored. “This feels really
good! Why don’t you try?”
“You’re like a little kid.”
Alfons threw him a glare, but kicked
his foot again, though lighter this time. “I’m not like a child! I didn’t get
to do this in Germany…the big cities had very dirty water, and it wasn’t good for you to go
walking around in it.”
“Sometimes I forget that you’re from
a different world. You’ve never seen anything like this before?”
“No, nothing like
this!” Alfons laughed again, and continued in that strange language of
his—German—bubbling at a nonstop speed until Roy threw him an almost patronizing smile…
Which only made
him sputter with a flushed face, though the German still stayed, much to Roy’s amusement.
It was probably a good idea to
take Alfons Heiderich out to Aquroya. The man had
been working nonstop ever since he had been in this world, confined only to a
hospital bed, Alfons’s home, or the four walls of headquarters that he spent
his time working in. There were very few moments of wandering…few of
experiencing, few of learning…just work, work, work.
“German
Ambassador”. What an interesting title. The title for a man who did so much
more for the country than merely being an ambassador to a country that didn’t
seem to exist anywhere in the world.
His “German
Ambassador” was also the genius responsible for the current technological
advances that were popping up all over Amestris. With
Alfons’s technological prowess and Roy’s Alchemic knowledge, research has been
able to fly further than anybody could have imagined…though with his
background, it was not safe for anyone to reveal the ‘young prodigy’s’ identity
just yet.
But…
With all
the work, Alfons had hardly had the time to go out and enjoy himself.
Though the poor man seemed so tired when they got back to the hotel
room that he flopped down on it immediately and went to sleep.
Roy
had taken the opportunity then to go out and do some vacationing of his
own…mostly involving copious amounts of alcohol (Alfons was never much of a
drinker; pity, because he would have been adorable drunk). The bars were full
enough and in his casual clothes nobody even thought to recognize him (though
that was a little disappointing…imagine Alfons’s
surprise if Roy brought home a nice
young woman for them to ‘share’ amongst themselves). After all, what Fuhrer ran
around wearing simple clothing, had no ‘defenses’, and went vacationing with a man, of all people? Wouldn’t he have
been searching for a wife, instead of fraternizing with one of his employees?
Thank God
for Hawkeye’s ‘media face’, or else he would have been followed around by some
two-bit paparazzi the moment he stepped out the door every morning.
He
shuddered at the mere thought of that.
A sudden
breeze passed by his face, as well as the sound of splashing nearby, and Roy
Mustang’s current train of thought ceased, replaced by a more simple, less
work-filled one.
It was a
nice night. The air was nice and balmy against his slightly warmed skin (It’s just the alcohol; the buzz will wear
off in a little while, I’m sure), the moon was out, illuminating the waves
and the city streets…the city lights were all on as well, though they never
seemed to touch the expanse of water like the moon and stars did overhead. No
clouds…no overcast mist over the water…
It was
just…nice.
Splash. Splash. Splash.
He blinked;
that wasn’t the normal sounds of wind being carried amongst the waves.
Splash. Splash. Splash.
There it was again…
Swimming? At this time of
night?
Roy
would have ignored it as nothing if he hadn’t seen a familiar mop of blond hair
and a bare pale chest pop out of the water.
* * *
Alfons
wondered fleetingly if he should have done this. This was a public
place…well…sort of. The lake was far out, more along the backs of the houses
than the main road, easily obscured by the presence of walls, though there
still could have been someone seeing him out here, naked, water touching his
skin…he had no swimsuit, and he was certain to have indecent exposure charges
if a policeman caught him.
But he
would only be out for a few minutes…Only a few, and then he would dry himself
off with his shirt and head back to the hotel room in case Roy
got back.
Just for a few minutes…
But God,
this felt good. How long had it been since he had last been out in the water
like this…?
It must
have been back when he and Edward had been in Transylvania.
He was never much of a swimmer, but he could at least float, and managed to
stay close enough to the edge to keep himself from drowning if he got too tired
(Edward had a bit of a start a few times though…especially since he himself
couldn’t get into the water to save him if something went awry)…
His father
had always been the swimmer of the family, though. That much had always been evident. They had only been to the beach
once, but that graceful figure had been imprinted into his mind for the rest of
his days.
But
something had improved in his swimming since the last time, it seemed. He
didn’t breathe as heavy when he did a backstroke, or gasp as much for air when
he spent some time underwater and resurfaced. It must have been the surgery.
Everything had seemed to be easier even after that.
Breathing…running…walking…lifting…
Sex also would have been a hassle, if I had
been back home…
That was
certainly not the best thing to think about when swimming outside naked. The
mental image of Roy’s body,
panting, sweating, and heaving was enough to begin to send himself
into hardness—
Behave yourself. You can think of that once
you go back to the hotel room.
Though it would have been nice. Roy
leaning him against the ‘shoreline’, hard body pressed against his own, pinning
him, almost rough…
“Alfons…”
Like that.
He would have spoken just like that! In that soft, purring tone…
“Alfons.”
Well…sort
of like that…he probably wouldn’t have sounded so…well. So
amused. Usually he was more ‘predatory’ when they were having sex, not
so much…
“Having fun
daydreaming? With you floating around like that, I’m sure the entire city could
see you by now.”
SHIT!
After one and a half
embarrassing seconds of him flailing in the water like an idiot, Alfons found
himself clinging to the ‘side’ of the lake, glancing up at Roy even as the man
was inching his way towards the water, grinning down at him.
“Having
fun?” he asked.
His face
always had to flush at times like this.
“A bit.” Alfons admitted.
“Just a bit? With the way you were floating around…”
Damn him.
Damn him, damn him. He always knew just what to say, and that smile of his knew
just how to pierce its way into his heart, making a little nest in the bits of
mush that were left of him.
But Heiderichs were never the type to take patronizing lying
down, dammit. Even with smiles that gorgeous and bodies that perfect so there
and tempting…
He may have
lost his mind, his heart, and probably his salvation, but not his dignity, damn it all.
…unfortunately,
that dignity was lost too, as all he could do was throw a glare that must have
looked more pouty than angry, because Roy’s
patronizing smile only got wider.
“Care for
me to join you?”
…What?
Alfons’s
brain felt itself start to shut down.
…Especially
when Roy Mustang was already starting to unbutton his shirt.
* * *
It was
amusing just to watch Alfons’s expression as every bit of clothing had been
removed, soon sitting by the ‘shoreline’ in a small, neat pile as he eased
himself into the water.
Blue eyes
were bugged, mouth was dropped open, all the while
keeping the ‘kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar’ expression that would
have been expected of Alfons, especially since he did catch the man skinny dipping of all things, after all.
It wasn’t everyday that he caught the usually quiet Alfons cutting loose like
this; it was something that had to be drawn out as much as it could be.
And that
did feel good. Not just the feel of the water against his bare skin, but the
way Alfons moved back, as if to give him some room.
Though
giving him room just wasn’t fair. Not
when the man’s skin was glowing the way it was, with that adorable blush and
his blond hair sticking to his face. His mouth was even slackened, perfect for
a kiss.
…Which Roy
took shameless advantage of, gripping the man’s shoulders and leaning in,
leaving a dazed Alfons hardly kissing him back and staring.
Oh, the
expression Alfons had. Adorably shocked, eyes widening more,
back ramrod straight and muscles quivering in the slight cold of the water.
It was hard
to resist that…
* * *
It was hard
to believe that Roy had decided to join him and kiss him (well, maybe not—what
was it that Miss Gracia had said about Roy being a
bit of an adventurous sort back in his day? Though it was a wonder how she knew
that much about him…). After all, it was a public place, in the middle of the
night, anybody could see…
And
obviously Alfons was forgetting that this was Roy Mustang of all people. The
man was borderline shameless. This
was the man who would show up at his house, saying that it was ‘about work’,
lock his front door and then throw Alfons on the couch, fucking him senseless.
This was also the man who…
Who threw
him against the side of the ‘shore’, kissing him roughly.
Ow, ow, ow!! Not so…
It was hard
to think about his pain though when Roy’s
tongue was down his throat…
…and his
hand was touching a steadily growing erection.
Alfons
broke off, gasping.
“R-Roy!
Was zur Hölle?!”
“You don’t seem to be
minding this much, Alfons,” Roy whispered, accentuating his name with a
particularly gentle touch around the tip—he always knew that touching there
would get Alfons going faster than anything, damn it all—“Actually, if I am
mistaken, you seem to be enjoying this quite a bit.”
“We shouldn’t be doing this
out in the open!” God, he was burning up. The water didn’t seem to be cooling
him off like it had been before.
“You’re telling the Fuhrer what he should and shouldn’t do
in his own country?” A low, amused chuckle, as the man started biting down on
an exposed neck.
“Ah, aaah,
b-but…s-someone…” His resolve was wearing thin…those fingers were feeling damn
good along his underside and rubbing into the head…No, no, no…he couldn’t give
in, but…
“Nobody will see. We’re
behind the house…”
“But what if…someone
hears…?”
He should have known he’d
walk right into that one. Roy’s
hand was already clamping over his mouth, and that voice was
close…frighteningly close to his ear…
Alfons clenched his eyes
shut, refusing to look.
“Then you’ll have to be
extra quiet, won’t you?”
When he felt Roy’s
other hand leave his cock and start probing his entrance, all he could do was
moan.
“Shhh…you
don’t want anyone hearing, do you? You said so yourself…what if somebody hears
you?”
You’re not being fair. I at least lock the door and make sure nobody
can see before I molest you!
One
finger…
Would the water even work
as a replacement for lube? Roy
wasn’t small…there was a chance it would really hurt…
Two fingers…
It was almost effortless,
how Roy could prepare him, even in
a place like this. Even underwater, both of their bodies pressed up against a
wall with Alfons’s hands in fists and one of Roy’s hands over his lips and the
other stroking that spot and making him cry out, letting out muffled curses
into that calloused skin that only seemed to make the poor German shudder with
want.
Alfons wasn’t sure when Roy
had finished stretching him or when he had already entered him,
the familiar burn accentuated by a strange pressure from the water that only
added to the initial uncomfortable feeling that usually accompanied
penetration. Damn it, Roy felt bigger than usual this time…or maybe it was just
the pressure of the water fighting against it…he was sure he’d see bubbles come
out if he’d managed to look down at where his ass was being intruded.
There was no doubt about
it…something was different about this time. He could hear Roy
already grunting behind him, and they weren’t even doing much yet. Only a few thrusts
in, but something was pushing at him…he could feel it. The water pressure was
hitting that spot before Roy could, and all Alfons could do was crush his eyes
shut tighter and try to ignore the sparks forming in the backs of his eyelids.
“R-Roy…f-faster…” his moan
was silenced by a pair of fingers moving inside his mouth, almost choking him.
When did Roy move his hand from his
mouth before, anyway?!
“I think I make the orders
here, Alfons. You’re in no position to tell me what to do.”
Damn him.
Damn that mocking,
egotistical attitude of his…
All it did was make Alfons
moan harder against those fingers, and grind down on that glorious thing inside
him.
But even with his pushing
down, it took twice as long to get a single thrust in, though Alfons wasn’t
minding this one bit. Slow, intense…his nerves were on fire and his mind was
going insane.
Oh God…
It wasn’t taking him long
at all, and he was already close.
Alfons moaned against those
fingers and rocked against him, harder now, faster now…even with the lack of
speed that came with it, they were managing to come out to a decent
rhythm…Alfons’s cries, once high-pitched and almost adorably submissive in
nature, were quickly mutating into wheezing, harsh gasps.
Roy
wasn’t doing much better, himself…his voice had grown
to a low, possessive growl, accentuated with each thrust.
Pale bodies turned red,
dabbling with sweat, even with the coolness of the water…
Eyes clenched shut…
Muscles turned hard, rigid,
trembling…
Their voices grew louder…
Louder…
Louder…
Until…
Alfons snapped first,
clenching against Roy before he too
howled his release into a damp, salty-tasting shoulder.
* * *
“Alfons,
did you have fun today?”
He might have nodded just a bit too
vigorously, though for whatever reason, the man simply smiled, ruffling a
soaking wet mop of wheat-blond hair.
“Hahaha…one
of these days, we’ll go out again. When we get some time, I’ll take you out
here…”
“And we’ll swim again?” Alfons
asked.
“Yes. Yes, we will.”
…The strange thing about the way his
father looked then…that smile. The way the eyes crinkled and how his blond hair
clung to his face in the fading light…
He looked a little bit like Roy.
…Alfons wasn’t exactly sure what to
make of that.
“…Alfons?
Are you all right?”
Alfons
had to blink a few times to adjust to the darkness again…to adjust to the sound
of breeze coming through the window…to adjust to the state of wakefulness even
when he himself was awake previous.
The
in-between feeling was definitely strange…
He
had to blink before he noticed Roy’s face so close, the other man’s bare body pressing
against his.
“Y-yeah.” Damn that blush. “J-just a bit tired.”
“Well,”
Roy had to chuckle, even though the reason he was so tired
was his fault in the first place, “I did make you run a good bit…and I
apologize.”
“At
least we managed to get our pants on first…”
“I’ve
never seen you put clothes on that quickly.”
“You’ve
always been the quick-change artist, not me.”
“Perhaps
you’re picking up on it, then.”
“Maybe…”
He
felt tired…so tired. Tired enough to just lean back against the mattress and sleep, sleep the night and the day away
and never go home again…just rest in this fluffy mattress, hug onto the human
pillow next to him, and comfortably rest like that…
Rest
with Roy…
Just…
“…Roy?”
Roy snuggled to him closer.
A thick aftershave wafted past his nose…cinnamony, and just a bit like one of the spices his mother
used in the kitchen…
“Daddy,” little Alfons said with a
smile, “You smell nice.”
“…I
think I might have a bit of a father complex.”
“What
do you mean?”
“…”
Alfons
sniffed him again, and closed his eyes.
“…no
reason…”
And
that was the last thing he said before he fell asleep, content, in Roy’s arms.
