Heero Yuy was walking back to his house, from his job at the contraction site, he had worked a sixteen hour shift, he was feeling rather tired, it had been a hot day all day long. His feet tingled in his steal toed light brown lace less boots, he had them costume made to fit to his foot the way he liked it so he didn’t have to worry about shoe laces coming undone or tripping on them while working high up. He wore skin tight light blue jeans that he could tuck into his boots, he had on a green tank top that he could tuck into his jeans. He had on a dark blue jacket that looked like it could be worn by a pilot of a fighter plane.
He had his orange hard helmet under his left arm, he had his right fingers curled around his forest green lunch box. Normally it was a nice evening where he lived, tonight it decided it was a good time, to let the earth have a drink of water, not even the big city was left out of this.
So Heero was walking home in the rain, he had the collar of his jacket pulled up over his neck, the rain was rather cold, and hard. So he decided to put his hat back on his head so it could at least give some kind of protection against the water that was determined to blind him from seeing where he was going.
It seemed like the rain wasn’t having any thoughts of actually letting up either, Heero had seen on the forecast that it was going to rain this morning while he drank his green tea and ate his raisin brain for breakfast. Heero always liked to watch the weather before he went out, even if it was normally always perfect, he knew there could be a fluke no matter what. Heero always tried to stay pre paired for anything.
He has to be this way, as he is taking care of himself, he has been taken care of himself all seventeen years he had lived on this planet. Mostly well as far back as he could remember he took care of himself mostly his uncle passed away when he was seven in a war, he was shot through the heart. His parents…. Heero just knew they died, he never even got to meet them, then Uncle J as he was suppose to call him adopted him at seven from the orphanage.
Heero learned quickly he didn’t want to live with his Uncle J he seemed to not have time for him ever, he learned everything from his real uncle on how to live on his own so when he turned twelve, Heero ran away, to San Francisco, or this was the city he stopped at after he ran, from the small town in California that he had been taken to by his uncle J.
Heero was doing well for himself now he got the construction job when he was thirteen, the manager of the company had come to find his abilities with his hands and tools were brilliant. Heero loved working with his hands, he was also very good at fixing up cars and panting them.
Heero’s small frame was nearly blown over with a strong gust of cold wind, he staggered over on one foot his arm fell into the brick wall next to him which was an old factory wall, he was also drenched with more water causing his jacket to stick to his bare arms. Heero was still three blocks from his house, it was around three am in the morning, so the streets were nearly abandoned by now and empty besides for the millions of rain drops and the occasional street light that helped Heero see where he was going even in the rain.
His hat had slid down over his big dark blue eyes as he was blown into the wall, his dark brown hair was also plastered over his nose and some stuck to his mouth he had a very odd hair cut. Though on him it made him look very sexy none the less. At the moment his hair and hat had completely blinded his view of anything.
Heero managed to right himself against the wind, he brought his hand up to adjust his hat, he heard the flick of a knife, then a voice call over the rain and wind, in front of him “Give me all you got,” the male voice ordered Heero. “Don’t move your hat from your eyes” they added “Stay perfectly still and you won’t get hurt.”
Shit Heero thought what could he do, “listen I don’t really have…” Heero began.
“Shut up just let me take what I want, don’t make this harder on yourself then it needs to be.” Heero heard the determination in the male’s voice. He could tell he didn’t want to do this but he was desperate.
“Hey, if your hungry I can buy you food?” Heero offered him, “Or you can have what is left in my lunch box, you don’t have to steel it from me. Or threaten me,” Heero said calmly. “I won’t let you steel my cash, I know you don’t want to do this.” Heero kept the helmet over his eyes it didn’t matter if he could see or not, he was ready to fuck this boys world up if it needed to come to that though.
“How the hell do you know, you don’t know anything about me!?” The males voice was shrill and annoyed, Heero could tell he was a boy now probably fifteen years old or so or younger. Still not to much younger then him, the rain seemed to turn into a water fall Heero felt himself shiver his body really longing to get warm and dry now. “Maybe I want your shit so I can sell it for a hit! Now shut up and let me take your jacket!”
Heero blinked under his mass of hair that was like a blind fold pressed to his eyes, when he said let him take his jacket, “Well for one I know your not a very good thief because you would have knocked me out and mugged me by now. Also your asking me to let you steel from me. So that is another red light to me that you really don’t want to do it. Also, I wouldn’t be mugged so easily anyways, now please clam down. If you need help I can help you.” Heero said in his monotone voice that left to the imagination what Heero might really be feeling.
“Oh really and what makes you think you won’t be mugged so easily!?” The boy made to step forward, “enough talk!” he said and made to slice at Heero’s gut with the knife, as he did this his wrist was caught, the arm was bent around and the boy was forced to drop the knife when he felt the metal like clamp go between the pressure point in his wrist it fell to the ground with a clinking sound. Now the boy would be staring down at the dark wet pavement. Heero lifted the hat off of his head, to see he was retaining a very skinny boy though he had a long mass of hair that was stuck to his back, which had no shirt but a black vest he had on some torn up pants that went up to his knee caps he had on black news boys cap.
“To hasty,” Heero told the boy who struggled and tried to kick back at Heero.
“Let me go, I just needed a jacket, and food, I am desperate!” Heero could really see this and hear it in his voice.
“Well explain it more to me and I can help you like I just said,” Heero had stepped on the knife handle. In case the boy did get away and tried to do something to him.
The boy sighed, “fine,” his voice sounded somewhat defeated clearly this guy he picked out was no match for him after all even if he had seemed to be a push over. “Its my sisters they are cold and hungry. I need to find one more jacket at least.”The boys voice was filled with so much emotion of letting out the secret he had sisters to a strange man that he sounded like he was trying not to cry.
“Well, you didn’t find one that you could take now did you?” Heero wondered his grip going firmer on the boys arm. “So where are your sisters, I can help you all if you like,” Heero said to the boy the rain seemed to turn into a light mist still both boys where now chilled to the bone.
“I AM NOT TELLING!” the boy yelled at Heero, “Hell no way, I won’t have anyone trying to take advantage of them either. We don’t have anything to offer anyone, we are beyond poor, clearly scrapping and stealing is the only way can live. So let me go I’ll find someone else.”
Heero sighed thinking about it, wasn’t that big of a deal to just give away his jacket now was it, this boy didn’t have one either, “Why one more, you don’t have a jacket either,” Heero pointed out.
“I don’t care about myself, so long as my sisters are safe and warm, which one isn’t so I need this jacket.” The young boy sighed his arm was getting tired of being pulled back this way he felt a dull ache in his shoulder.
“Alright fine, I’ll give you my jacket,” Heero relented, “but not the one I am wearing, this one means to much to me. I can give you and your sister a jacket. There is a coffee shop outside of where I live you can wait there and I’ll go to my apartment and get them if you like?”
The boy relaxed in Heero’s grasp, “Alright, that sounds like a deal then,” Heero let the boy go who spun his shoulder around trying to get the ache off of it. “Jeez you sure are a strong one, wouldn’t think that by looking at you.”
“Its my biggest weapon I must say,” Heero’s blue eyes sparkled back toward the poor boy. Heero could tell he was a very big mess. Even in the flashing of the lighting. He couldn’t tell what color the boy’s eyes were. His face looked handsome none the less. “Well come along,” Heero said and began to walk, he heard the pitter patter of the boy’s bare feet hitting the pavement. No shoes either he thought this was to bad no wonder he didn’t hear him coming, they got to the apartment by now the rain had decided to let up. It seemed more storms would be rolling in.
“I’ll say,” the boy said putting his hand on his own head which his hat was very wet. “Look I am really sorry for attacking you like that or threaten you. It was awful of me, I just don’t normally resort to such tactics, I was just so desperate it was the last straw, no one was willing to lend a hand for free, I was sick of taking it in the ass for a fucking jacket, or blowing some jerk off for one. So this was my only other way of doing it.” The boy rambled on and on, Heero could see he was shaking his teeth chattered as he spoke, “Also might I point out we aren’t use to cold here so of course its even worse. Who would have thought it would get this cold, I tell you the wind and air seem to just be moving on and on you know, never stopping and I suppose it won’t stop cold from coming now will it?” Heero noted that the boy was just rambling he really wasn’t wanting an answer per say, as he just went on talking after he asked his question.
As they got closer to Heero’s apartment the streets were lit up with the orange yellow glow of the street lamps and the coffee shop that was open twenty four seven. There was other stores on either side of it but were closed down they were only open nine to five.
Heero got a better look at his attacker as they stopped under the white lights of the coffee shop, he was a pretty bad site that was for sure, he wondered if this boy ever had a bath in his life, his eyes were the cleanest thing on him and they sparkled out at Heero from under his hat, a brilliant amethyst. His body was all banged up and bruised his face was no acceptation. Heero thought there was a diamond in the rough under there when he looked into those eyes, something just clicked in his heart he had to help him even more if it was possible but he’d have to gain the boys trust first.
“Alright, you just wait right here, I won’t be very long alright,” Heero said when he could finally cut into the boys endless chatter, as they stood under the awning of the Coffee Shop.
“Oh alright I sure will,” the boy nodded then looked around he seemed a bit out of his element or maybe he was making sure no one was coming for him, all it seemed was he looked paranoid.
Heero then quickly turned on his heals, he went across the street to the three apartment buildings that were each three stories tall. He would enter in away that this boy wouldn’t even be able to tell which building was his.
Heero came to the eastern building they were all made of dark red or brown brick, he climbed up the steps to his one bedroom apartment, he stuck his key into slot 0101. He turned the lock and opened the dark brown door. He came inside, and shut it behind him, he turned next to him and flipped on the light, the room was a studio, with the living room to the right of him which was rather big, to the left was a nice sized kitchen area with a place for a dining room table, then there was a hall way that led from the center of the kitchen into the bedroom which was at the end of the hall, then there was bathroom on the left hand wall. Heero set his lunch box down on the counter then he went to the closet and he took out two jackets. Heero removed his work hat and hung it on a hook in the closet. Then he turned around he walked to the door he also grabbed an umbrella. He grabbed the loaf of bread he had just bought, also got some cheese and some lunch meats and put them in a sack.
He then opened the door again and walked back outside, the air was still wet, with mist, it seemed it was warming up a tad, as the early morning started to grow old, but the clouds seemed to stay very dark the rain must of thought this city was about dew for a near flooding. Heero thought the smell of fresh rain water mixed with sea water smelled really good.
He came down the metal steps, holding the idioms over his arms, he saw the boys small form huddled under the window with his arms around his legs his long hair was over his shoulders on either side sticking to his chest. Water droplets dripped from the rim of his hat. Heero thought no one would notice him at all unless you were really looking for him.
He seemed almost like a ghost of the streets or something with how he huddled under the window like this. Heero stopped in front of the boy, “Here is your jackets I also brought you an umbrella and some food.” Heero said holding everything out for the boy to take.
The boy stood up, when he walked toward him, “thank you so much!” he reached over and grabbed everything.
“Before you run off!” Heero said as he turned to bolt. The boy seemed to stop in mid run.
“Yes?” He said hoping he wasn’t going to make him suck him off after all.
“Would you have coffee with me tomorrow morning?” He wondered hopefully, “I am not to much older then you I believe, I wouldn’t mind talking with you more, maybe you could learn to trust me.”
The boy set his foot down on the pavement, to think about it a moment, no one ever asked him this before, he was in a hurry. “Well we will see alright pal I need to get going now, thanks again I am sorry,” He said and bolted off into the darkness.
Heero watched those long thick locks sway back and forth tell the vanished into the darkness, his heart felt really worried now for this boy. “Be safe” he whispered after him before he turned to go back to his apartment, now finally feeling the effects of working sixteen hour shifts for three weeks straight. He was ready to crash and take it easy he had two days off now.
As Heero lay in bed an hour later he couldn’t help but wonder and worry about that boy, he couldn’t even seem to relax now, it annoyed him too, he never even knew he was alive tell tonight, He had said he’d mug him for his money, even tried to cut him. Yet he just couldn’t relax,” Heero growled frustrated as he was very tired he couldn’t get this boy off of his mind. He tried to tell himself clearly he lived this long so what is another night of him not being watched after. Heero shook his head and rolled over and looked out his window and watched the rain streaking down the glass like little rivers, finally this lured him into a much needed rest, but this boy and his eyes were ever alive in his mind.
