Labyrinth
By KrazyKat001
(Inspired by a sudden thought of what it would be if Goku and Vegeta played the roles as Sarah and Jerdeth.)
Prologue
Goku flop onto his bed, gritting his teeth as he strains to hold back his thoughts. He wanted to yell out his frustration off his parents who practically forced him to stay at home so he could babysit his baby brother.
Why me? Why can’t they keep their pheromones in check? It’s bad enough I have less freedom, and even worse, overhearing my parents sexual activities at night… every night.
He sighs, half-groaning at the thought.
Ever since Goku was discovered by Bulma at a very young age, he was taken in as her son, and pretty soon, he was introduced to his adoptive parents.
More like re-introduced.
Bulma and Yamcha are his parents and now he has a new baby brother named Trunks.
Funny name, if you ask me. Poor kid’s gonna go through a rough time for having that name.
Ever since the day he met Bulma, he immediately regret it. Had he known this is the life for him now, he wouldn’t even stop the strange girl riding inside a monster device.
Oh well, too late now.
“Hn.” Goku winkle his nose, disgusted at the limited freedom he has. Sure, he gone out earlier and came back later than he intended. It wasn’t even his fault, really.
Boy, mom was sure mad! All I wanted is to train but, no, my parents forbid me from doing it at all. I am not ‘a mindless nuts ‘n’ bolts fighter with any sense of respect Responsibility, responsibility, responsibility. I take pride in my training, woman!
Goku gaze at the ceiling, lost in thought. A tiny chime is heard from downstairs. Absently, he inwardly counts the chimes. 11 p.m. He can hear his parents quite clearly downstairs, giggling eager for their anniversary dinner. Goku groans as he hear the sounds of smooching, he face-palm his face.
Why won’t they just GO already?
The door shut rang beautifully to his ears.
Finally.
Goku sighs in relief.
At least I have some freedom around here.
He sat up, glancing at his door. He head out the hallway and enters into his brother’s room. He peeks at the cute bundle of joy in the crate.
Trunks giggle at the sight of his adoptive brother. Goku grins, he plucks the baby out of the crate, singing lullaby softly to the baby brother in his arms. If anyone else over-heard him, they wouldn’t be able to understand. Not even his parents knew that Goku had never truly lost his memory. Goku smiles knowingly he develop a close brother bond, closest bond in saiyan terms, to Trunks as he sings to him in Saiyago. Trunks yawns cutely before going back into his dreamland just as Goku reached to the ending of his song.
He cradles his brother, staring softly. Goku walk around the room, bouncing gently.
The red obi around his waist rustles. His black gi blends nicely in the darkness. Goku furrows in concentration. At last, a black, sleek tail is free and is now wagging its tip in slow motion. Goku mildly glance it, relieved from its discomfort, and found himself reminded of how many times his parents had to cut off his tail during his adventures. He is very lucky for hiding it this long.
No one, NO ONE is ever going to take this away from me again. To lose it again is shameful, to have it taken away from me is agony. To lose that extra limb is like losing a sense of self.
He knows his parents mean best but … enough is enough, you know.
Trunks coo his sleep, forcing Goku’s attention in his arms, smiling again. Staring for a long time, he said softly, “I wish someone would take us away from this hellhole… then I wouldn’t have to keep hiding like this anymore.”
Just as he put his baby brother back in his crate, he heard an eerie whisper echoing in all direction.
“As you wish.”
Goku whips around in alarm, tail sending off goose bumps. Searching for the source, he quickly settles into his fighting stance, glance side-to-side, slashing his tail in warning.
A gust of windblasts behind him, haunting laughter mocks the young saiyan. Goku snaps around to find Trunks missing without a trace. Everything in the room rustles along with haunting laughter.
Goku summons ki in both hands, whipping around for the forms he had just missed.
Their ki are erratic, there’s no chance of spotting them in one place dammit! What in the hell is going on here?!
Then, all of a sudden, the room quiets down.
Goku senses an overwhelming ki behind him. Turning around in cautious manner, with ki still burning in both hands, he finds a flaming-haired man, mildly shorter than him. He wears a red cape over a majestic armor and present a cruel smirk.
“Who are you?” The young saiyan demands, “What have you done to Trunks?!”
The man laughs. “You know who I am, Kakarott. After all, you summon me.”
At first, the young saiyan stare in confusion. Then, quite suddenly, Goku blinks in shock, lost all concentration to the ki in his hands as it dissipates into thin air. “No… You can’t be…”
“Don’t believe what you see? I must say I’m disappointed. Look around you, Kakarott, do your eyes deceive you?”
The room darkens. Goku sees countless of red eyes glow everywhere. Figures with humongous shapes wears loincloths, all have tails on them, all wore smirks and snickering. Goku’s pupil grew livid, pale at the sight. “It’s not real…”
“Oh, but it is.” The smirk held its place.
“Why are you here? What do you come here for?!”
“Did you forget already, Kakarott?” The flamed-haired man chuckles in amusement. “We’re here to take you away from this ‘hellhole.’” The room howls in laughter.
Goku’s whole body went numb, he shouts, “I didn’t really mean it! It was only a figurative speech!”
Laughter dies. Vegeta glares. “What said is said. Besides,” he sneers, “you ARE aware of who we are, of WHAT we are.”
“…” Goku frowns, peering around. “They’re not exactly the saiyans I’ve heard of.”
It’s true. The saiyans, according to my programming, look more civilized and deadly than the ones in front of me. Although, these saiyans seems a bit aggressive and savage, more in touch with their primitive self except for the royal guy in front of me who resembles too strongly of Vegeta. I thought members from House of Vegeta were wiped out along with Planet Vegeta. I mean, it’s the only rational explanation why no one bothers to search for me.
Vegeta stare at him with a passive expression. “Were you not raised on Vegetasai?”
“No. Not really, why?”
Vegeta snorts, amused. “I suppose you never heard tales passed down by your father then.”
“Huh…?”
What my father has got to do with this?
“Tales of sorrow and woes about brats wishing away their sibling, parent or slave to the Underworld,” the man replies mockingly as he checks his gloved nails then looks up, smirking, “Hell, it’s not everyday we find someone your age wishing yourself away along with your brat. Heh.”
Goku blush beet-red, “He’s my brother, not my brat! What the hell were you thinking?!”
The audience jeers at him. Vegeta frowns. One of the tall saiyans step behind Vegeta, whispering in his ear. Vegeta’s eyebrow raise slightly at the news. “Not saiyan? What use will he be?” he mutters irritate. He then turn his attention back to Goku, smirking, “I guess we’ll have to change that.”
The crowd of saiyans howls excitedly.
Goku’s confused and wary, “What’d you mean?”
Then man rubs his chin thoughtfully. “We’ll turn your brat into a saiyan. However, why not make this interesting?” The crowd quiets down. “How would you like to play a game?” Vegeta smirks widen in a knowing manner.
Goku was stunned, speechless. Bewildered, he asks, “What?”
“A compromise. After all, your wish is my command. If you and your brother want out, you must play in my labyrinth, solve it under a time limit, of course, and rescue your brother before he completes his change into a saiyan. If you fail, you both are live with us forever. Either way, you’re coming with us. What say you, Kakarott?” He held his confident smirk.
After careful consideration, Goku releases his fighting stance. “Bring it on.”
Out of nowhere, Vegeta summons a clock. “You have thirteen hours. Remember, everything is not what it seems.” He snaps his fingers.
Goku whips around as the room vanishes, along with Vegeta and the saiyans, and finds himself in clear daylight at the borders of the labyrinth. Shock awe overwhelmed Goku’s entire being at the sight of red sky, twin sister moons, and the familiar kingdom of Vegetasai from his programming.
But it’s not Vegetasai. Vegetasai was gone. I’m the only saiyan left, how can this possible?!
