Disclaimer: I do not own DragonballZ, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
This fanfic is the property and originality of Caitlin West. But I do not own Dragonball Z. It is not my idea, but the original works of Ani Animation and Funimation, and let’s not forget the genius mastermind behind all of this craziness, Akira Toriyama. However, I did write this particular fanfic, so I would really appreciate it if you wouldn’t steal my idea. Thanks.
(Note: This story takes place in the Mirai No Trunks (Future Trunks) timeline, after Trunks returns from the past after Gohan des Ces Cell, and Trunks beats Future Androids 17 and 18 and Cell.)

Chapter 1
Trunks watched the tower as it was burning to the ground, and a cold chill ran down his spine. He realized he would have to save the people inside, but his mind and body wouldn’t listen. He ordered himself to move, but to no avail. Suddenly, he felt his body lifting up off the ground and drifting towards the skyscraper. Well, at least he was able to fly.
The cause for the burning building was still too much for him to comprehend: He had been walking along the sidewalk with his mother, Bulma Brief, carrying her shopping bags while she was window shopping. It was Mother’s Day, and Trunks had had to come up with an instant present, so being at Bulma’s every beck and call had been the best thing he could come up with. While they were walking home, there had been an explosion across the street, and Trunks had seen the town pharmacy blown to kingdom come. He didn’t realize what had happened until he saw the three figures standing not twenty yards away.
The one that seemed to be the leader was a short, thin creature. He was gold in color, and had a large muzzle that resembled that of an opossum, but he had the complexion of a lizard. He wore a long green cape and a blue gi, and held within his grasp what looked to be a ray gun of some sort. Trunks assumed this was what had been used to cause the building to explode.
The second person was another unusual creature that also looked far from human. It was mud-brown in color, and it stood about eight feet tall, with broad shoulders, a long neck, and a head that was shaped like that of a frog’s. It’s wide, toothy grin spread all around to the sides of its face. It wore a peach-colored gi, and held a glowing, transparent ball in its hands.
The third figure looked even less humanlike. He stood about six feet tall, and was very muscular. Two square clefts at the sides of his head produced steam that seemed to be absorbed into the air. The white gi that he wore stood out against his pink skin, and a sideways grin was plastered on its face.
Trunks had watched in horror as the short, gold creature pointed the ray gun at a tall building located at the end of the block. A bright light shone from the barrel, and all of a sudden, the large tower exploded. No sound, no warning; just a mind-boggling terror that would stay in the hearts of the onlookers as long as they lived.
Just as quickly as thad had appeared, the three strange creatures disappeared right into thin air, leaving a huge, burning mass of death and destruction behind. Trunks watched as fire trucks pulled up and began shooting out spray after spray of water to try to quench the flames. He knew that their attempts would be futile; the building was too tall for the water to reach the top, and people were still trapped inside. So as he flew towards the catastrophe, he had only one thing in mind: He had to save whoever was alive in that building.
He flew up to a window on the top floor and peered inside. There were people huddled under tables and chairs, too panicked and scared to evacuate the building. So, with a last chance effort in mind, he broke through the glass window, landed on the floor, and stood before the frightened captives. They stared at him in horror and disbelief.
“Don’t worry everyone!” he shouted. “I’m here to help! Here’s what we’re going to do: I’m going to take you each down there four at a time! I’ll take four of you now, and then come back up for the rest of you in groups, all right? Good. Now, I want yoou, ou, you, and you, to come over here and get on my back. That’s it. Great. Now hold on tight.”
Trunks floated out the window, then slowly descended to the ground below. After he had his four passengers safely on the ground, he went back up for the remainthirthirteen.
After everyone was safely out of the tower, reporters arrived on the scene, and almost immediately started throwing questions at him.
“What’s your name, son?”
“How did you learn to fly like that?”
“How did you save all those people?”
“Are you some kind of superhero or something, kid?”
He answered most every question as best he could, and once the excitement had died down and people began to go home, he quickly slipped away from the remaining crowd of people and found his mother.
“Trunks!” Bulma shouted, “What do you think you were you doing? I’ve been so worried! I thought you’d been burned alive!”
Trunks smiled sheepishly. “Oh come on, Mom, it’s me your talking to. Do you really think the strongest guy in the world could get killed by a little fire?”
Bulma opened her mouth to speak, but then dismissed the idea. She put hems ams around her son and said, “Well, at least promise me you’ll notify me when you’re goin a s a suicide mission, all right?”
Trunks smiled and returned the hug. “Okay, Mom, I’ll to rto remember that.”
Bulma beamed. “Great. Well, now that that’s over with, tell me: How did that building catch fire in the first place?”
“Some weird looking creatures had a ray gun or something they shot that made the building explode.”
“Hmm. I wonder who they were. Could they be some long-forgotten enemies of Goku’s or your dad’s?”
Trunks frowned. “I don’t know, Mom. I really don’t know. But I plan to find out.”
