CHAPTER 10
CHAPTER 10
A few weeks later Zechs was over at Wufei’s house. He had moved back to his apartment in the city and now it was easy for Trowa and Zechs to see each other. Trowa was sitting on the couch and Zechs was preparing to go when he remembered something that he had wanted to mention to Trowa.
“Hey Trowa?”
“Hmm?”
“One of my friends is hosting a party tomorrow night and I was wondering if you’d like to go as my date?”
Trowa glanced up to see Zechs regarding him. Zechs turned and looked at Wufei, “Oh and Wufei, you and Ami are invited too.”
Wufei nodded. “Sure we’ll go.” He answered before returning to his book. Zechs looked back at Trowa. He lifted one of his eyebrows as he waited for Trowa’s answer.
“I’d love to go.” Trowa said smiling.
Wufei watched in satisfaction. He was glad that Trowa and Zechs had gotten together. They were just right for each other. Zechs could make Trowa smile and Trowa’s silent support in times of emotional stress gave Zechs a pillar of strength. Wufei smiled and went back to his book.
“Is it a formal event?” Trowa asked. Zechs nodded and Trowa frowned slightly. He didn’t like getting dressed up. Zechs noticed his frown and laughed. Trowa smiled at Zechs. “I don’t know if I know how to act properly among the aristocrats.”
Zechs waved his worries away. “Just use your natural charm. They’ll love you.”
Trowa blushed and looked down. “Thanks.”
“I have to be going now Trowa.” Zechs said. “Nice to get to see you again Wufei. Bye, my love.” Zechs said as he kissed Trowa on the cheek. He gathered up his jacket and let himself out the door. A few minutes later Trowa and Wufei heard the sound of his car driving off into the night. Trowa sighed. He felt so empty after Zechs left when they had been spending time together.
Wufei noticed Trowa’s sigh and hid a grin behind his book. When he had a straight face again he said to Trowa, “Sorry to see him go?”
Trowa nodded, “I know it’s unpractical because I’m going to see him tomorrow but I just feel so empty when he leaves.”
Wufei nodded, “I know how you feel, that’s how I feel after spending time with Ami sometimes.”
Trowa looked at him. “You know we are just two romantics? We try to be strong and where just pushovers at heart.”
Wufei nodded. “I know; but I would have to deny it under oath.” Trowa raised his eyebrows and gave a small smile.
Wufei sighed inside. No matter what he tried he couldn’t get Trowa to laugh, in fact he could barely get him to smile. Sometimes he envied Zechs ability to make Trowa smile. He wanted to make Trowa happy but how could he when he couldn’t get him to smile?
Wufei noticed Trowa’s faraway look and asked. “Are you sure that you want to go to this party Trowa? It doesn’t sound much like your cup of tea.”
Trowa nodded. “Yes, I’m sure I want to go.” He answered. Then after a pause, “If only to please Zechs.”
Wufei laughed. “I thought so.” Trowa half-heartedly threw a pillow from the couch at Wufei. “Don’t forget you have to go too.” Trowa reminded him.
Wufei smiled, “I know, but Ami has always wanted to go to one of those snobby rich peoples parties so I figure why not? This is the only way we’ll ever get invited. If she’s happy then I’m happy.”
Trowa shook his head. “Well in that case...” Trowa said sarcastically. “Anyway I’m off to bed.” He said.
Wufei waved and went back to his book. On the way up the stairs Trowa thought about his acceptance of Zechs’ offer. ‘What if I make a fool of myself?’ he wondered. Would Zechs hate him forever? ‘Stop thinking so negatively.’ Another voice scolded. ‘If Zechs had thought that you couldn’t handle the situation he wouldn’t have invited you.’ He argued to himself until he had gotten into bed. ‘Well there’s no sense worrying about it now’ he thought as he shut off the light. Surprisingly it wasn’t very hard to get to sleep. In his dreams he was dancing the night away with his blonde angel in his arms.
The next morning Trowa awoke around ten. He slowly wandered downstairs to the kitchen where he was glomped by a fast moving object. Trowa winced as he felt the air being squeezed out of him. “Hi Ami.” He said. Ami let go of him and stepped back. She dropped a curtsy and looked at him. “Well?” she demanded. “How was my curtsy?”
Wufei walked up beside her and threw an arm around her waist. “Don’t mind her,” he said, “She’s been practicing all morning.” He leaned over to whisper in Trowa’s ear. “She’s trying to fit in with the upper class people.”
Ami swatted him. “Don’t pay any attention to him.” She told Trowa, and then ran out of the room. Trowa heard rustling cloth and a second later she came back in holding a dress. “Isn’t it gorgeous?” she breathed. Trowa looked the dress over. It was a floor length chiffon dress of periwinkle blue. It certainly was nice looking, it also looked expensive. “Did Wufei buy that for you?” Trowa asked. Ami nodded.
Wufei looked at the floor sheepishly. “Well you know we couldn’t go looking like slobs.”
Trowa grinned at him. “You’re going soft in your old age.” He informed Wufei. Just then the doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it,” yelled Ami running wildly out of the room. Trowa and Wufei followed at a more sedate pace. When they arrived at the front door they found Zechs just being admitted by Ami.
“Hello Zechs.” She said cheerfully. “Come on in.”
“Why thank you.” He said. Then glanced up and saw Trowa.
Trowa walked over to quickly embrace Zechs, and then asked curiously, “I thought you weren’t coming by until later. Not that I’m not glad to see you.” He said quickly.
Zechs smiled. “I thought we could go out shopping for a nice suit for you. I love the one you have,” he quickly added. “But I saw this one a while ago that I think you will look stunning in.”
Trowa blushed. “I don’t know.” He said looking sidelong at Wufei. Trowa didn’t want to embarrass him. Wufei just smiled and waved him towards the door. “Go on.” He said. “Go have fun.” Trowa smiled at Wufei and thanked him then followed Zechs out the door.
That afternoon Zechs dropped Trowa off at Wufei’s house to get ready and went back to his own place to prepare himself. A few hours later Trowa had just finished getting ready when he heard Wufei and Ami call him from downstairs. He walked onto the landing to see Wufei, Ami and Zechs waiting for him.
Even though Zechs had helped Trowa pick out his new suit it still took his breath away to see Trowa in it. He was dressed in a suit of dark green that matched his eyes perfectly. It hugged his body showing off his thin and muscular frame. His eyes gleamed like emeralds in the soft light. Ami leaned over and nudged Zechs. “You’re drooling.” She whispered with a giggle. Zechs straightened and glared at her before returning his eyes to Trowa.
As he descended Trowa felt all eyes turn to him. He was kind of embarrassed but tried not to show it. He looked to where Zechs was standing. ‘My god.’ He thought. ‘He looks wonderful.’ Zechs was dressed in a suit of black satin that reflected the light when he moved. His platinum blond hair flowed in shimmering waves down his back and his eyes shown like sapphires.
Wufei turned to Ami. He cast an eye over her. “You look nice love.” He said. She did look nice in the floor length blue gown and silver snowflake earrings. The neck was low cut so that it was appealing but not too revealing. She was also wearing a tight necklace of pearls. Wufei offered his arm to her. She smiled and accepted it.
As she accepted his arm Ami checked out Wufei. He was dressed in a nice white silk shirt that clung slightly to his frame and a midnight blue pair of pants. He raised his eyebrow, “Well?” he asked her.
She smiled. “You, are a sexy beast.” She told him. He flushed slightly and guided her towards the front door.
Zechs looked at Trowa and offered his arm to him as well. “Shall we go?” he asked. They moved outside after the other couple.
Zechs pointed Wufei and Ami to their car and then led Trowa to theirs. He had once again rented limos. Trowa waved to Ami and Wufei. “See you there.” He said. They waved back and climbed into the cars and drove off.
