Gemini Rising
Bulma hung up the phone. \"Well, it sounds like that wraps up the legal end of it,\" she said. She turned to Gokou and ChiChi. \"At least the two of you will be able to go out without Gokou being arrested now.\"
\"Finally.\" ChiChi sighed. \"I hate imposing on you like this, Bulma. At least now we\'ll be able to sleep in our own home.\"
Bulma smiled. \"It\'s no problem. And I\'m glad that Vegeta will finally be able to leave the grounds too. In the mood he\'s been in, it\'s getting hard to tolerate him around all the time.\"
Vegeta wandered into the room. \"I heard that,\" he snapped.
Bulma turned to face him. \"And I hope you heard what the lawyer said about staying out of the public eye for a while.\"
Vegeta frowned. \"Hmph. I don\'t need any stupid lawyer to protect my ass. I can take care of myself.\"
Bulma glared at him. \"Just stay out of trouble. I don\'t really want to spend another six hours on the phone.\"
Vegeta grumbled under his breath and walked out the door. Bulma just shook her head and turned back to Gokou and ChiChi. \"He\'ll be fine,\" she said. \"I\'m sure he\'ll find a way to blow off steam without causing trouble.\"
Gokou put his arm around ChiChi. \"Yeah, don\'t worry about him,\" he said. \"I can\'t wait to get home; maybe Gohan or Goten will want to come over and spar for a while.\"
ChiChi sighed. \"Gokou, you were just in trouble for fighting. Is that all you can think about? There are other things you can do with your time.\"
\"I suppose there are,\" Gokou said. He picked up ChiChi up and flew toward home. \"But I can\'t think of any right now.\"

Covered by deep shadow, Tales carefully approached the house before him. It was a modest home, with a clothesline full of clothes outside. He peered carefully from the edge of the woods and searched for any sign of movement in the house. Seeing none, he stepped out into the open.
He gave a heavy, shaky sigh. The heat was overwhelming, and the desire to mate was starting to affect his mind. He knew there were no saiya-jin women left, but he had to have someone, even if she was human. He also knew that he wouldn\'t even be able to approach a human woman looking like he did. He had to try to blend in at least a little better.
Tales walked up to the clothesline and took down an orange gi. It looked familiar, but he couldn\'t place it or the symbols on it offhand. He tossed his boots and cracked, worn armor into the woods and pulled the clothes on. The material was soft and light against his skin and provided room for movement. Despite the fact that there was no place for his tail in back, he decided he like the human clothes. And, the clothes would help him conceal his tail a little better.
He suddenly caught sight of someone approaching the house by air, and ducked quickly into the shadows alongside the house, hoping that he hadn\'t been spotted. He crouched low to the ground and waited.
Tales heard someone land in front of the house, but couldn\'t see who it was from where he was. As the front door closed, though, he heard voices drift out the open window.
\"Gokou, you are not going to bother Gohan or Goten just because you want to fight, and that\'s final!\" A woman\'s voice shouted. \"You need to stay home where you belong.\"
\"ChiChi, I can \"bother\" my sons any time I want,\" Gokou retorted. \"And I have yet to see a time when spending time with me has been a bother to them.\"
Tales could hardly believe his ears. \"Kakarott? This is Kakarott\'s home?\" Curiosity got the better of him, and he peered carefully in the window.
ChiChi and Gokou were standing in the kitchen with their backs to him. As he watched, Gokou walked over to the phone and started to dial a number. ChiChi gave a frustrated sigh and left the room.
The brief glimpse Tales got of ChiChi was enough to get his hormones racing again. He sat down on the ground and took a deep breath. He really didn\'t feel like fighting Gokou again, but he hadn\'t seen any other women for miles. He started to get up, but stopped quickly when he heard the front door bang shut. Peering around the corner of the house, he saw Gokou power up and take off into the sky.
\"What a fool!\" Tales whispered to himself. \"He\'s leaving his mate unguarded in the middle of our mating season.\" As he stood up, he heard ChiChi in the kitchen, banging dishes around. He nerved himself and quietly opened the door.
ChiChi didn\'t hear him come in. She tossed a load of plates into the sink, muttering angrily to herself. Tales walked up behind her and circled her waist with his arms.
ChiChi gasped and spun around. Her look of surprise faded into one of relief. \"Oh, Gokou, it\'s just you. I thought you left to meet Goten.\"
Tales realized that things could work in his favor if he could keep up the charade of being Gokou. He smiled gently at her and smoothed her hair back. \"I decided it was more important to be here with you,\" he said quietly.
ChiChi smiled at him. \"I\'m glad. You\'ve been in too much trouble lately; I\'d just as soon have you home.\"
Tales gazed at her. \"I\'d like nothing better.\"
ChiChi looked at him for a moment. She watched the lustful sparkle dance across his eyes and sighed. \"Now I see,\" she said. \"You came back home because you\'re lusting again.\" She rested her head on his chest. \"Well, I guess it\'s as good of a reason as I\'m going to get to keep you home.\"
Tales reached around and undid ChiChi\'s sash. \"I can think of something you can do to fix that,\" he whispered.
ChiChi smiled at him. \"I suppose it\'s the least I could do; I know you don\'t like being kept home, I just don\'t want you in any more trouble.\" She pulled away from him and opened her top teasingly. \"I\'ll meet you in the bedroom.\"
As she retreated down the hall, Tales swallowed hard. He slipped out of his clothes and paused for a moment, letting his tail twitch anxiously behind him. As he started to follow her, he realized that his tail would give him away - Kakarott didn\'t have his tail any more, and his mate must surely know it. He carefully wrapped his tail into a bun and rested it on the small of his back. He just hoped he\'d be able to move it around as he needed without her seeing it.
Tales headed down the hall ChiChi had taken, peering into each room. He found the one that ChiChi was in after only a moment, and slipped inside. ChiChi was hanging her clothes carefully in the closet and had her back turned to him. Quietly, Tales pulled the curtains on the window shut. Noticing the darkness in the room, ChiChi turned to him.
\"And you\'re even in a romantic mood, ne?\" she asked. \"Well, I can certainly handle that.\" She laid herself carefully on the bed, being sure that Tales got a good look at her whole body.
He began to sweat and tremblingly approached the bed. He was so eager he could hardly control himself. Being very careful not to let ChiChi see his tail, he climbed on top of her and thrust himself deep inside her.
ChiChi gasped and hugged him tight. She marveled at how passionate he was and how his thrusts got stronger each time. He acted as if he had never had sex before. She lovingly kissed his neck and twined her fingers into his wild hair. It was the one thing she loved about his hair; it was so wild and thick, yet soft and flexible at the same time. She closed her eyes and let the intense feelings inside her body overwhelm her.
Tales began to slow down a little and let his thrusts settle to a slow, gentle rhythm. He ran his hands over her soft, smooth body and praised the twist of fate that left him in bed with his worst enemy\'s mate. He began to get sleepy and let himself fall back onto the bed. He winced a little as he crushed the coils of his tail.
ChiChi opened her eyes just in time to see Tales wince in pain. \"What\'s wrong?\" she asked.
\"Nothing,\" Tales gasped. \"Just a little muscle twinge.\"
\"Here, let me feel,\" ChiChi said. She reached around Tales\'s back to feel his muscles.
Tales quickly flicked his tail to the side. \"No, no,\" he soothed. \"I\'m really all right. You just rest; I need a nap myself.\"
A small flicker of disapproval crossed ChiChi\'s face. \"I don\'t know why you\'re always acting like that, Gokou. No matter if it\'s a small or a huge hurt, you never let me help you.\"
Her look faded as Tales cupped her face in his hands. \"I\'m a strong man,\" he said. \"I wouldn\'t trouble someone as beautiful and loving as you for a little twinge.\"
ChiChi smiled. \"I love you, darling.\"
\"I love you too,\" Tales whispered. He pulled her possessively close to himself. \"I\'m never going to let you go.\"
ChiChi watched him doze off, then rested her head on his bare chest and fell asleep herself.
*
Goten wiped the sweat from his brow, and just barely dodged as his dad threw another punch. He tumbled to the ground and sat there for a minute.
\"What\'s going on?\" Gokou asked. He offered his hand to his son. \"You\'re not fighting up to your usual today.\"
\"Sorry, Dad,\" Goten replied. \"I guess I kind of miss Bra. I haven\'t seen her all morning.\"
Gokou smiled at Goten. \"I know how you\'re feeling,\" he said. \"You go on back to her. I\'ll head home for a while. Maybe Gohan or someone will want to spar later. I want to give ChiChi a break for a little while.\" He winked at his son.
Goten smiled back and jumped into the air. \"Thanks, Dad!\" he called, then waved and took off.
As his energy trail faded, Gokou faced his own home and sped off into the air. He did miss ChiChi, he admitted to himself. Maybe she\'d want to take a little break from the housework.
It was only a few moments before he landed at the front door to his house. It was very quiet inside, but he wasn\'t concerned. ChiChi didn\'t normally make a lot of noise as she went about her daily chores. He opened the door and stepped inside, feeling out her ki to determine where she was. Strange, he thought, there was another ki with her. Perhaps Gohan came home for a while, he thought. He headed in her direction.
*
ChiChi stirred slightly. She thought she\'d felt another presence in the house, but now she wasn\'t sure. Everything seemed quiet and still. She relaxed and ran her hand down Tales\'s back. As she neared the area where she expected to find a tail spot, she encountered warm flesh and fur. Startled, she peered over his back. She gasped as she spotted the long brown tail curled carefully on his back. \"What in the name of Kami?\" she wondered. \"How did his tail grow back?\"
Out in the hall, Gokou approached their room. He started to get a bad feeling in his gut, and he hurriedly stepped inside and scanned the room. To his shock, ChiChi was lying nude on the bed, cuddled up close to another man - in fact, another saiya-jin, he determined, as he caught sight of the tail behind him. \"ChiChi!\" he exclaimed.
ChiChi jumped at the sound of her name. She looked around and spotted Gokou in the doorway. \"Gokou?\" she gasped. She glanced back at the saiya-jin sleeping next to her. \"My Kami...\" she moaned softly. \"How...\"
Gokou was beside himself with confusion. He didn\'t know what to do. \"ChiChi, why...\" he demanded.
\"Gokou,\" ChiChi said. She didn\'t know what to say. \"If you\'re really Gokou...then who...\" she glanced back at the man next to her. Aside from the tail, she couldn\'t tell the difference. \"He looks like you...he sounds like you...\"
Gokou walked closer and realized that she was right. It was like looking into a mirror. He hesitated for a moment; suddenly an image came into his mind, and image from a battle long ago. He saw Tales staring defiantly at him and preparing to attack even as he readied his own attack. As if in slow motion, he saw the scouter shatter on Tales\'s face, revealing a mirror image of himself a split second before Tales was blasted through the Tree of Might.
He gritted his teeth in anger as reality surrounded him again. \"Tales,\" he spat.
\"Who?\" ChiChi asked.
\"Someone who doesn\'t deserve to be alive, let alone with my mate!\" Gokou screamed. His anger pushed him immediately into the second level of super saiya-jin.
Tales felt the huge upsurge of power and leaped awake, just in time to see ChiChi leap off the bed and cower in a corner. \"ChiChi, what...\" he began. He shielded his eyes from the intense yellow glow in the room. He peered around his hand and saw a golden haired Gokou standing at the foot of the bed, his every pore oozing power.
\"Shimatta!\" Tales cried. He leaped off the bed and moved to a defensive position, though he knew it was useless.
\"I told you I\'d never forgive you!\" Gokou screamed. \"Do you really want to die this badly?\"
\"You\'re the fool who left her alone during the mating season!\" Tales shouted back. \"I can take much better care of her; she\'s mine now, you back off!\"
Blinded by rage, Gokou dove head-first into Tales, knocking him through the wall and out into the yard. He never hesitated, but continued to pummel Tales, pounding him farther and farther into the ground.
ChiChi hurriedly pulled on a dress and jumped out the hole in the wall to where the two saiya-jin were fighting. \"Gokou, stop!\" she cried.
Gokou stopped for a moment and looked back at ChiChi. \"Why?\" he asked angrily. \"He doesn\'t deserve any mercy. After what he\'s done, he deserves to die by my hands.\" He raised an enegy-filled hand above his head, aiming it straight for Tales\'s chest.
Tales closed his eyes and futilely braced his arms to defend his battered body from the attack. Nothing happened. After a few seconds he opened his eyes, and to his amazement saw ChiChi standing beside Gokou, holding his arm back with both of hers. He scrambled out of the shallow hole he was in and stood up.
\"Thank you, thank you, ChiChi,\" he cried. \"I knew you cared about me.\"
Gokou\'s nostrils flared with anger. \"She just doesn\'t want me fighting,\" he spat. \"She\'s my mate, and that\'s final!\"
Gokou suddenly sensed another powerful ki approaching. Seconds later, Vegeta dropped out of the sky and landed beside him. \"Kakarott!\" he exclaimed. \"Starting a fight without me? You know I\'d never pass up the exercise.\" He looked over toward Tales to examine their opponent. \"What in hell...\" he started.
\"I\'ll handle this cheating, undeserving trash, Vegeta,\" Gokou said. \"You just sit this one out.\"
Vegeta grabbed Gokou by the arm. \"Who the hell is he, Kakarott?\" he demanded. \"He could pass for you any day.\"
Tales used the moment Gokou was distracted for his advantage. With one smooth, quick motion, he snatched ChiChi from where she stood and took off into the sky.
\"Kuso! Baka yaro, come back with my mate!\" Gokou started to power up again.
Vegeta stopped him again. \"His power level is much smaller than yours, and I doubt he can sense ki. Let him think he\'s escaped, you may take him off guard and run less chance of hurting ChiChi.\"
\"I don\'t care about all that!\" Gokou yelled. \"I\'m getting ChiChi back!\"
Vegeta slapped Gokou sharply across the face. \"You don\'t care about ChiChi getting hurt?\" he snapped. \"Quit letting your anger control you - if you stopped to think for a minute you could have probably ended this by now!\"
Gokou settled down slightly. \"He had sex with my mate,\" he seethed. \"I told him once long ago that I would never forgive him for his crimes against the earth. His crimes against me call fis dis death.\"
\"Kakarott, I can tell that you know very little about him, just by the way you act toward him. Is that how you\'ve settled your battles before, by attacking someone head on without knowing anything at all about them? And besides, if I know ChiChi, she\'s not just going to sit back and let him carry her off.\"
Gokou sighed angrily and looked in the direction Tales had taken ChiChi. \"He\'s a saiya-jin, like us, Vegeta. I doubt that she\'s much of a fight against him. I could defeat her when I was a kid - and he\'s at least that strong.\"
Vegeta lifted into the air. \"Then we best not waste any more time. Just calm down so he doesn\'t see us before we get there.\"
*
Tales stopped to rest along the bank of a stream inside a dense wood. He hadn\'t seen anyone following him, which puzzled him. However, he was too tired and injured to worry long. He gently sat ChiChi on the grass and collapsed to his knees.
\"Tales?\" ChiChi questioned.
\"I can\'t go much farther,\" Tales panted. \"Kakarott will find us for sure here, but I had to talk to you without his interruption.\"
\"It\'s going to make him even angrier that you kidnapped me,\" ChiChi pointed out.
\"I know,\" Tales sighed. \"But I\'m as good as dead anyway. I just had to know...before I die...how do you really feel about me?\"
\"Tales,\" ChiChi sighed, \"I don\'t know you. I thought you were Gokou the whole time I was with you. I can\'t feel anything toward you.\"
Tales fell to the ground. \"Then there\'s nothing else for me,\" he said. \"Even if by some miracle I escape from Kakarott, I\'ll never survive and find another mate now. I fought for so long until I found you...I give up.\" He let his head fall to the edge of the water and closed his eyes.
ChiChi got up and pulled him into a sitting position. \"Don\'t talk like that,\" she scolded. \"Whatever you did to make Gokou hate you so much, I don\'t know; I haven\'t seen a demonstration of it yet. You\'ve been nothing but kind to me. And if you are willing to recover you won\'t have any problem finding a nice woman.\"
Gokou and Vegeta watched from the cover of trees some distance away. Gokou squeezed his eyes shut, but Vegeta saw a tear leak out from under one eyelid. \"Why is she acting like that toward him?\" he hissed. \"She should be leaving him there and running home.\" The tears started to flow more freely. \"Maybe she really does want him over me.\"
Vegeta smacked him on the back of the head. \"Listen to what they\'re saying, idiot!\" he scolded. \"She\'s just being kind to him; she hasn\'t found fault in him yet, and frankly neither have I. The only thing he\'s done is let his instincts take over and let himself crawl into bed with a claimed mate.\"
\"You don\'t know him,\" Gokou choked out. \"You don\'t know what he\'s done.\"
\"Whatever he might have done in the past, I guarantee I was a thousand times worse. Has he destroyed entire solar systems in a temper tantrum? He may have slept with your mate - did he make her suffer as an example to the people of her planet, then kill her right before her mate\'s eyes? I think not. He\'s as fucking good as you are Kakarott, you\'re just too blind from the past to understand that.\"
\"No, you don\'t understand -\" Gokou started to raise his voice.
Vegeta was paying more attention to what was going on by the river. \"Shut up and listen, Kakarott,\" he said.
Gokou fell silent, but refused to watch ChiChi and Tales. He stared angrily at the ground and closed out the world around him.
ChiChi watched the tears slide from Tales\'s eyes. \"I\'m sorry I can\'t do more for you,\" she said, \"but I love Gokou more than anything.\" She hesitated a moment. \"Tales, do me a favor.\"
Tales looked up at her through tear-filled eyes. \"Anything,\" he gasped. \"I\'ll give you anything.\"
\"Please take me back home to Gokou,\" ChiChi asked.
Tales stared at her for a moment, then looked away sadly. \"You\'re asking me to commit suicide,\" he said listlessly.
\"No, not at all. I\'ll make sure Gokou doesn\'t kill you, I promise. You\'ve been nothing but good to me, I know I can reason with him even through his anger. I\'ll make him let you live.\"
Tales heaved a huge sigh. \"All right,\" he said. \"I have nothing to lose. I\'ll trust you.\" He painfully climbed to his feet and picked ChiChi up. \"Let\'s go.\"
Gokou noticed them lift into the air out of the corner of his eye. His head snapped up immediately. \"Where are they going now?\" he cried.
\"If you\'d been paying attention, idiot, they\'re going back to your place. Come on, we can beat them there.\" He grabbed Gokou by the arm and took off at super speed.
Gokou and Vegeta landed at the front door to Gokou\'s home. A few minutes later, they saw Tales approaching with ChiChi. Vegeta sensed Gokou raising his power again. \"Keep yourself calm and let him speak first. He doesn\'t have much strength left as it is.\"
Gokou wondered at Vegeta\'s sudden acts of mercy, but set the thought aside as Tales landed with ChiChi. He carefully set ChiChi on the ground.
\"Gokou!\" ChiChi cried. She ran to her husband and embraced him.
Gokou held her close for a moment. \"Did he hurt you?\" he asked. He carefully looked her over.
\"He\'s been nothing but kind to me, Gokou,\" ChiChi replied. \"Please, don\'t hurt him any more. He\'s given up on life as it is; just let him go. He knows what a mistake he\'s made.\"
Gokou looked toward Tales. Sure enough, the saiya-jin had sagged to the ground, his eyelids hanging heavily over his eyes, his whole demeanor that of a man who had given up on everything. Gokou approached him and examined him carefully. This was not the ruthless, evil being he had fought at the Tree of Might. This man before him barely looked like he had the strength or will to even flick the seed into the ground.
Vegeta approached the two of them. He seemed to sense Gokou\'s thoughts. \"A saiya-jin\'s whole attitude can change when he\'s in season, Kakarott,\" he said. \"You saw what it did to Trunks and Gohan when we were at Capsule Corp. There\'s no telling if Tales will return to normal later, but right now he is no threat to you.\"
\"Where\'s he going to stay?\" ChiChi asked. She gave a concerned glance in Tales\'s direction. \"He can\'t survive long like that, and I really don\'t think it\'s a good idea for him to stay here.\"
\"Well the only other place outside a hospital that has a healing center is Capsule Corp, so I guess he\'ll have to come back with me. It\'ll be easier to explain the situation to Bulma and the others than to a bunch of human doctors.\" Vegeta knelt down and slung Tales over his shoulder. \"You stay here and calm down, Kakarott,\" he said. \"I\'ll take care of this. Don\'t worry, if he\'s as bad as you try to say he is, I\'ll notice right away when he wakes up.\"
\"Finally.\" ChiChi sighed.
