Chapter 9
Upon entering the bathroom Heero set Duo down on the toilet. Duo merely slumped down and leaned against the wall as Heero went to start the shower so the water would warm. Looking over at Duo he sighed and began to strip to his boxers. This was not the situation that he had imagined when he thought of showering with Duo. Sighing he walked over to the mournful form of Duo and removed everything but Duo’s boxers. Feeling ashamed when he thought of how easy it would be to have his way with the boy.
‘Oh well’ Heero thought as he tried to banish the images of the long haired boy writhing in pleasure beneath him.
“Stand up Duo.”
“NO!”
“Maxwell standup you need to get that glue out of your hair.”
“NO!” At this point Heero had to remind himself that his friend was very upset and that he couldn’t just throw him into the shower.
“Alright” Heero said as he switched tactics and in a gentle voice, as gentle as an ex-terrorist/assassin can sound, said “Duo, if we don’t get this glue out of your hair now than it will have to be cut out later.”
That seemed to do the trick and Dou got up, shuffled into the shower and stood. Grabbing Duo’s brush and shampoo Heero walked in the small shower. It’s a good thing that they were both thin otherwise they wouldn’t have fit. After adjusting the water temperature some Heero began the arduous task of combing through the tangled mass Duo’s hair had become. It took almost two hours but Heero was finally able to untangle and ‘de-glue’ Duo’s hair. Duo said nothing the entire time. Numb, that was the only word Duo could think of to describe how he was feeling. After conditioning the American boy’s chestnut mass of hair Heero guided Duo out of the shower. Sitting Duo down on the toilet seat once again Heero began to dry Duo’s hair. Heero was enjoying the proximity to Duo but sincerely wished that it was under different circumstances. After getting out most of the water Heero again began to gently brush through Duo’s hair as he prepared to braid it. Yes, Heero had observed enough times to be able to braid, he’d even practiced on Duo while he was sleeping. Duo could sleep through a gundam battle at times.
‘Shit!’ thought Heero as he looked down at Duo’s hair. It had been cut at an angle. ‘Well it’s got to be fixed.’
“Duo” Heero murmured softly as if he was talking to a child (a/n I don’t think this is ooc I call it instinct!!) “your hair is cut at an angle”
“so” Duo muttered weakly.
“We need to even it up.”
“NO!” Duo yelled as he jumped up ready for a fight and on the verge of hysterics “HE’LL BE MAD AT ME!”
“Who?” Heero was quite puzzled at this out burst.
“Uno”
“It will be ok”
“NO! You don’t understand!” Duo was looking around wild-eyed.
“Hush, Duo. Your hair will be much better after we get it even,” and as an after thought he added “Uno would want your hair to be even.”
“You promise” Duo asked as he looked at Heero eyes full of tears.
“I promise” Heero could feel his heart breaking as he looked into those melancholy amethyst eyes.
As Heero carefully cut Duo’s hair he vowed that he would get Wufei for what he had done to Duo. He had gone too far and seeing Duo in so much pain made Heero furious. While Heero was deciding on what to do to Wufei he failed to notice Duo and that each time a piece of hair hit the floor a tear accompanied it.
“You know Duo, you needed a trim anyway. Your hair was already uneven” Heero said trying to sound optimistic.
“Look, I know you don’t mean what you’re saying. You just feel sorry for me. Well listen I don’t need your pity or anyone else’s for that matter. You probably think I got what I deserved. You feeling-less android! You can’t be human because you’re just too Fucking perfect! ” Duo spat out venomously.
Heero was shocked. Not just by the harsh words but also at the effect they had on his body. Tears had forced their way out and had begun to trail from cobalt blue eyes. He had never expected anything like that from Duo. Quickly he finished and sitting the scissors down turned to leave. Reaching the door he stopped and turned to Duo.
“For your information,” Heero began in a low voice devoid of emotion, “I told Chang not to do anything to you or he would have me to deal with. I personally believe that this went too far. I’m sorry he did it and once I’ve finished with he will be to. I AM a person and I DO have feelings…”
Duo was shocked. Had he heard Heero correctly? He turned and tried to look Heero in the eyes to see if he was lying but was hindered by Heero’s curtain of brown bangs.
“Oh and if you care I suffer because of my so called lack of emotion. It makes it very hard to tell you that I believe I love you.” And with that Heero turned on his heel and walked out of the apartment without another glance.
