::: Theory :::
Goku was happy to see Vegeta again, happy in a sense that he didn't particularly like. A feeling had begun to grow within him, a foreboding in his gut that told him something wasn't right. When Vegeta returned, though, everything seemed to be somewhat normal. Goku could tell that nothing had happened between the two men he could disagree with. If anything, Vegeta seemed more calm than he has been in weeks.
When he asked him about Renjiamori, though, Vegeta didn't answer him, he just said,"We'll talk about it later."
Goku wasn't convinced, he couldn't be sure that Renji is so innocent. In all honesty he was ready to leave the planet. However, he knew that to leave without attending the ceremonious party they've planned would be rude, and it wasn't an option.
Somewhere in the other room he heard Vegeta say he was going to train. Goku declined joining him before Vegeta could ask. Vegeta gave him a queer look when he walked in on where Goku was sitting, but didn't argue with him, for once. That made Goku uncomfortable.
Vegeta told him, "You know how to find me."
Goku nodded and Vegeta left.
Now, thought Goku, What do I do? Do I try to talk to Renji? Do I try to find Jeremel? I don't know anyone else... Do I explore the planet a little? Goku huffed, bored and disturbed.
He decided to explore, but not the planet, the mansion. They'd taken a look around before but they didn't see everything. Goku had a place in mind and he headed straight to it. He wanted to see it before when Vegeta had been with him, but the room had been ignored on purpose, with Vegeta pretending to have missed it. Goku let him at the time but now is his chance to really look into the room with the picture of Vegeta's father in it.
The door was only half ajar again. His curiosity piqued and so he gently pushed it the rest of the way open. He turned the light on as he walked further into the room, but turned back and shut the door behind him before proceeding. It went much further left and right than he'd thought. and there seemed to be a lot more pictures on the wall than he had noticed before. Still, the picture of Vegeta's father held him captivated for some time. He'd never imagined someone could look so much like Vegeta before, but still look so different, too.
When he finally tore his eyes away he noticed a very nice desk to one side of the room with papers and pictures on top of it. As he drew closer, he became surprised at what he found. In the midst of all the paperwork was a picture of a man who looked like him, and the name under it read "Bardock: father of Raditz and Kakarot." Goku picked up the picture and looked at it strangely. The man, his father, looked so familiar to him, as though he'd seen him before (and not just in the mirror).
His head swam, no, now it throbbed. Where is this coming from? Goku fought over the dizziness but his knees still hit the ground, hands and elbows following quickly after.
Visions ran through him mind, but none of it made any sense. Renjiamori was there with a younger Vegeta. Then Vegeta's father, with Jeremel, but everything blurred out too quickly and scattered into something else. There, there's his Vegeta, smirking at him as usual. Why- Why's the picture fading? Then came images of Raditz and Frieza- and- and Bardock! He's trying to say something- what is it?!
Moments later Goku snapped back to reality to find himself sweating profusely, face-down on the ground beside the desk. No time at all seemed to pass. All of those things had just seemed so real, like he was right there with all of them, like a memory, or a premonition. He struggled to catch his breath but stood up as soon as he was able.
The room was back to normal although he felt a little weak. He ignored it and continued to look around. He quickly saw something else on the wall opposite of himself that he wanted a closer look at. He was shaky, but he still crossed the distance and beheld the framed picture, much like the one of Vegeta's father, but smaller. He couldn't help but smile at the picture. Vegeta in his youth looked so strange to him, almost like when they'd first met. There was no smile on his face, nor smirk, nor frown, nor lines on his face of having done any of the three. He saw only a rare serenity that he knew only from being intimate with him. To have captured it in a picture made it even more special. The Prince was wearing all black, no armor, and the background was dark, making it look as though it hadn't been a planned photo, but Vegeta looked at ease and Goku fell in love with the picture the longer he looked at it.
"No one's supposed to enter this room."
Goku turned to the voice in surprise, he hadn't detected any one coming. "Renji," he nodded, "I didn't know that."
Renji smiled at him and said, "You're an exception I will make, though." He walked towards him and knew immediately what he was looking at. He commented, "I've always loved that picture of him."
Goku looked back at it and asked, "How old was he in it?"
Renji shrugged, "Probably twenty-five."
"You knew him then?"
"Yes," Renji nodded, "I took that picture." Goku's jealousy returned but before he could say anything or let silence make the situation awkward, Renji added with a light laugh, "'So handsome and strong. And kingly. Vegeta always was too much for me."
Goku wondered, "What do you mean?"
"Well," Renji said as he walked away in a different direction into the room, "He's a Saiyan, I'm a Likor, and as such it's naturally a difficult mix." Since Goku knew not what to say, Renji carried on with, "Some things we simply will never agree on. Although we understand one another, we still found it difficult to mesh."
Goku watched him and listened intently, but Renji only said as much. Goku asked, at his pause, facing him now more fully, "What was Vegeta like?"
Renji smiled at him as he walked closer. He guessed, "I could ask you the same question, but I think that our answers would be very similar."
Goku smiled and said, "Well, what happened here means a lot to him, I'm sure."
Renji just smiled sadly for a minute before he finally decided to delve deeper into the conversation. He asked, "How long have you been together?"
"Oh, us? Uh," Goku looked off a bit, hesitating to answer. He pretended to guess as to not embarrass himself further as he answered, "Two, no, a little over three years..."
Renji was a little shocked, but not surprised, if such a thing could exist. Shocked because he felt as though it could have been both less and more time with the way they behave and talk about one another, but he lacked surprise because of Vegeta and his ways. He offered, "That's very good," after a moments stalling he added, "He and I only dated for four years before he left."
Goku grew a little confused and so he asked, "Where did he go?"
Renjiamori picked up something off of the table in front of Goku and feigned interest in it before casually answering, "We probably shouldn't be talking like this."
Goku nodded in understanding but said, "I really just want to know. Vegeta never talks about his past. I ask him but..."
Renji laughed light-heartedly, put the object down, and admitted, "It's not you, you know. Vegeta thinks that by not acknowledging his past then it doesn't exist beyond himself, but he doesn't realize that he carries it with him everyday by hanging onto it like that, instead of letting it go."
"He's mad at me, Renji," Goku whispered aloud on accident.
"No, Kakarot," Renji shook his head, "He's mad at Frieza and he's mad at himself."
"I don't think so," Goku answered with acute resolution and explained, "I've known him for longer than you, if you only dated for four years. He's let all of that go."
Renji frowned, and thought, Know him... but said, "It's not so simple. Maybe it's what you don't know that he's mad about, and not what you think at all."
Deep conversations like these really aren't Goku's thing, but he was wise enough to understand that Renji was hinting at something, and he didn't know how to respond, though he tried desperately to think of something to say.
Eventually Renji opened up again and offered him this speech, "Vegeta's been dealing with his past his whole life. He's perfectly capable of handling himself. He doesn't need someone to father him or mother him. He doesn't need anyone to baby him, but he won't admit what he really needs, and what he really needs is a lover and a friend, someone he respects, who will respect him."
"I do-"
"It doesn't matter if you convince me of it. He has to be convinced."
"What did he say to you?" Goku suddenly wondered.
"About you?" Renji laughed, "Not much." He could see that Goku was growing annoyed with him, which was good because he was doing it on purpose, trying to push his buttons, (which they say cannot be done.) He went on to say, "Vegeta never told you about our relationship and I told him that he should have. That's why I sought you out; I knew that you would come here if you cared for him half as much as you say you do, and here I found you."
More irritated than he could remember when having a normal conversation, Goku asked, "So what your point?"
"I wanted to tell you that I'm happy for you both to have found one another. I am a little jealous of you." Goku held his breath for a moment while Renji hesitated to continue, letting it out only when he said, "You see, he thought of nothing else for years, nothing but escape and victory, nothing but recruiting you and ending Frieza. I was so crazy about him and together we were wild and headstrong but that was back then, when young men are mostly foolish and we thought we knew it all and had it all planned out.
"His plans were a little different from mine, though," Renji explained, "and I never knew it... until he left me behind."
Goku wondered what he meant exactly but he didn't have to question it for long before Renjiamori finished his tale, saying, "He did it on purpose. I never wanted to admit it to myself, but eventually, after Frieza was dead and he never tried to contact me, I had to accept the truth. I can admit I've been a bit obsessed with figuring this whole thing out but, if someone said goodbye to you the way he did to me... and you expected him to return... it would tear your world apart. I had already had my world ripped to shreds five years before. One day I figured it out- I learned a lesson, Goku, and the lesson is, just like Vegeta always used to try to teach me: You are all you've got, so don't get wrapped up in anything besides yourself and your own future."
Goku was in no way a better mood having heard that than he was earlier when he only wondered what speaking to Renjiamori might be like.
"I'm sorry, Goku," Renji shook his head, knowing this conversation must be difficult to bear, he added, "I have waited so long to speak with him and it didn't go very well. It's my fault, I'm either too much of this, or too little of that. Any time it's just right is because his moods deems it."
Goku laughed, he couldn't help himself. "That's funny!" he exclaimed. Things were getting way too serious for him. He had to let this roll off of his shoulders for now and so he said, "Don't worry so much, Renji. If you and I worried as much as Vegeta did, we'd never accomplish anything."
Renji was just about to speak ever more seriously before Goku had interrupted him with a positivity he could never possess. Suddenly he found himself laughing as well and he sighed a little. He stole himself away as quickly as he came after that.
::: Damn it :::
"How was your workout, Vegeta?"
Normally Vegeta would say something along the lines of, "Want to find out?" or "You could have watched," but tonight he responded with, "How was your talk with A--Renjiamori?"
Goku laughed in spite of himself and answered, "Good!" to which Vegeta made no response, and simply headed for the shower.
Goku waited until the water was warm and Vegeta was already in it before he appeared right behind him. He grunted, "You're not showering alone are you?"
'Not any more," Vegeta growled playfully.
"Seriously," Goku purred, "I've been thinking about this all day."
Vegeta tried to act innocent and uninterested but it only spurred Goku on more.
Goku chuckled and then suddenly slid his hand down Vegeta's back, "I want to play with your tail," he purred into Vegeta's ear sensually. Goku's hands were gentle and exploratory at first and Vegeta had to bite back several moans. After a minute of light handling Goku's grip grew tighter and his tugs were more forceful, rendering Vegeta more helpless than he'd like to admit.
Vegeta couldn't get enough of his touch, everything was just right. It'd been such a long time since he'd had his tail, the sensations he received felt unbelievable and his reactions became nearly uncontrollable as Goku wrapped his own tail around Vegeta's and put it to work while his hands travelled further down. He pushed Vegeta up against the bath wall and he used the water spray to help lubricate his fingers so he could gently prep Vegeta.
Vegeta reached back and took Goku's tail for himself as Goku began to push inside of him with practiced skill. It became difficult for him to focus because of the way Vegeta was tugging on his tail. When he put it in his mouth, Goku started getting more rough with him, impatient to get things going. Both men moaned in a communicative desperation.
"Do you want my cock inside of you?" Goku pressed him more firmly against the wall as he held his dick in one hand, ready to proceed.
Vegeta didn't respond with words, he just helped Kakarot guide himself inside of his tight hole, looking back over his shoulder at him.
Goku kissed his lips as fully as he could, swallowing Vegeta's cries as he was being fulfilled. Once Goku got in as far as he could the first time he pulled back watching Vegeta's face intently as he shoved his length completely inside of him with his second thrust. Vegeta whimpered and moaned and squirmed, but he pushed backwards onto Goku's lap, his tail now tight around Goku's arm, to let him know he approved.
Goku hadn't realized his own tail was wrapped around Vegeta's waist, he was too busy burying himself balls deep inside of him over and over and over again. Sex with Vegeta is always amazing, but sometimes, it's euphoric. Like now, inhibitions are out the window. Goku knows how Vegeta likes it, Vegeta knows how Goku wants it, and both men get the ride of their lives- the perfect partner. Even if it's rough, Goku knew that Vegeta knew that sometimes their sex isn't just sex- it's making love.
Goku almost said it, he almost told him that he loved him, but right before he went to speak Vegeta moaned his name. He lost his nerve so he just kept fucking him with all he had, pushing him closer to that wave. He saw the signs in Vegeta's face and heard it in his voice, he was so close.
"Cum for me," he whispered gutturally, and his eyes lit up as Vegeta's fluttered for a moment. He kept up his pace, trapping Vegeta in this one spot, until he felt his body give in and he rode Goku more freely, feeling the bliss instead of trying to create it, letting it all out instead of holding it all in. Goku was mesmerized by his face and he couldn't help leaning in to bite gently onto his neck, as gently as he could, and he continued to pound inside of him, now with longer, more deliberate strokes.
Vegeta's mouth was agape and Goku's lips found his in a tongue kiss that made both men moan. Goku couldn't help it, he came inside of Vegeta, locking up for a moment. He pulled back, knowing he should pull out, but he pressed his way back inside of him in ecstasy, the feeling was so new and so hot and so right.
He pulled away, knowing Vegeta was done allowing himself to be pushed into a wall. He expected Vegeta to be angry with him, but Vegeta just turned around and kissed him like he usually would.
He said, "I need a shower," with a smirk, "now get out."
Goku smiled, kissed him again and left.
::: Maturity :::
Gohan sat outside with Trunks and Goten as they ran around just like they did when they were young. Trunks wanted to get away from Capsule Corp. for a little while, so they played outside of Goku and Gohan's homes. Pan ran around with them, trying to keep up.
Goten asked Trunks as they stopped to take a break, "Have you heard from your dad?"
"No, what about you? Has Goku said anything?"
"Grandpa!" Pan yelled.
Gohan smiled at her and Goten answered, "Naw, I don't think we'll hear anything from them about what's going on. Do you think it's going well?"
"Well, if it isn't, then they'll have to deal with the wrath of two full-blooded Super Saiyans!" Trunks laughed.
"Super Saiyan!" Pan cheered.
Goten chimed in, "Super Saiyan," lifting Pan off the ground and running around with her.
Gohan thought about what the boys said and got a strange feeling, like something wasn't quite right. If there was trouble, would his dad call for their help? He hoped everything was going well, but, this involves Vegeta, and Gohan knew better than to assume anything ordinary.
---
The week flew by quickly. The party is tomorrow already. Since the celebration is being held in his home, Amori kept so busy with preparations that he hardly got to see Vegeta or Goku at all since their last meeting. He was disappointed by that. He knew that convincing Vegeta to stay a little longer after the celebration would probably not go well. He would be stepping on Goku's emotions more than he'd like to, still he couldn't help wanting to try. He decided he would ask Vegeta if he would stay, but he didn't know how to get him alone again.
It didn't help that he never knew where he would be, it was much easier to guess where Goku was at any given moment, and, surprisingly, the two men did not spend very many moments of the day together. When they did get together it seemed to be both far and few in between and random and private.
Renji decided to eat lunch quickly and then go find Goku first. He figured he'd find the man in the kitchen, talking to the cooks about what they were making for dinner, since lunch was just served. They hadn't really talked since Renjiamori walked in on him snooping around the other night, so this should be interesting. He found that he was right in assuming where he is, and he smiled to himself as he watched Goku salivate over a snack he'd just been brought.
"Hey, Renji!" Goku waved to him as soon as he entered the room. Renji walked closer and said hello. Goku somehow knew he wasn't here just for small talk, and a still small voice made him ask, "You're wondering where Vegeta is?" It was like he could read his mind, but he wasn't even touching him. He's never been able to do that before.
The look of surprise on Renji's face told him that it was true, and Goku wondered where that had come from. Renji answered, "Well, yes, I am, but I would still like to talk to you if that's alright."
"Sure," Goku smiled, and the chefs left quickly. He could tell Renji still has feelings for Vegeta, although he tries to hide it under the pretenses of missing him and needing to see him for one thing or another, but Goku still liked the man. He guessed he could see how he and Vegeta could have been together.
Renji sat down at the table with Goku, facing him. "Eat," he gestured. "I'm happy that you like the food here."
"I do! Thanks!" Goku exclaimed as he finished off the small meal quickly.
Renji was all too used to Saiyans eating habits and wasn't fazed by how quickly he'd scarfed it down. He said, "The ceremony will finally be done tomorrow, then we can all relax," he subtly dropped the hint that he might be staying longer.
"Everyone seems happy," Goku replied simply.
"Yes," Renji nodded, but didn't push the conversation.
Goku wondered, "Did you do it all for Vegeta?"
Renji thought about it before he answered, "Yes, and no. I did it for my own satisfaction and yes, I did it for him. I wanted to make something right for him the way it was made right for me. I got back some of my own inheritance when Frieza was killed, since I had worked with his enemies, but no one was going to give Vegeta back what was owed to him.
"The man I bought the living from was on his deathbed and he refused at first, out of spite."
"How did he come across that money?"
"He was a Saiyan, a prophet, who tried to talk King Vegeta into taking his advice about the Saiyan Empires riches. He essentially stole the money in the end anyways, with paperwork the King had no idea that he'd signed. He'd survived by hiding away soon before Frieza came and killed them all. Once his prophesy came true, he became obsessed with his own wisdom and he angrily stayed in hiding only to slowly go mad. He had lost his place with his people and he could no sooner give the money to Vegeta himself than use it in the time he had left. Eventually I was able to talk some sense into him and he finally decided that the price I would pay him for it was worth more to Vegeta than hanging onto a grudge."
"Oh," Goku said in awe.
"It worked out," Renji smiled, "I know Vegeta doesn't need the money. It's the sense of closure that I thought most important."
Goku nodded, but only remarked, "You mentioned that before."
Renjiamori began to say something, but the words fell short of his lips.
Goku said, "Vegeta's in the gardens outside."
Renji sat in silence for some time thinking about so many things. He wasn't too distracted to be suspicious of how Goku knew the things he did, though.
Goku spoke again, saying, "I can sense him. He can sense where ever I am, too, at any moment. We can sense you and Jeremel and anyone else we know whenever we want."
"A ki detection?" Renji asked, baffled.
"Yes," Goku nodded. After another moment he started to say, "Hey, Renji, I," but then hesitated. Renji remained silently waiting. Goku opened up to him, saying, "I think that if your talk with him didn't go well, you should try again. I guess that's why you wanted to know where he is. I've been trying to give him space, not because he asked me, but because I don't want to be in the way."
Renji was floored but nodded, "Thank you for understanding." When Goku smiled, Renjiamori excused himself and left.
As he headed towards the gardens he thought of nothing else but Vegeta and what they would say to one another. He needed closure himself, he guessed. The time seemed to be both long and short before, instead, Vegeta found him wandering around.
Vegeta stood staring at him, waiting for him to start. He had expected him to come find him one of these days. They had so much to say to one another, but neither man would start off the conversation.
Finally Amori said as he stepped closer, "Stay here longer...?" It was both a question and a command. He added, "I want to spend more time with you." Vegeta didn't answer, so Amori continued, "I know this was unexpected of me to drag you here in the first place, and to ask you to stay longer is rude, but...I don't feel like we've gotten a fair chance at seeing one another since I've been busier than expected. That is one of the main reasons I asked for you to come out here."
"I don't remember it being a request," Vegeta replied cooly, needing to say something. Amori laughed shakily. Vegeta was cold and this wasn't the first time Amori had dealt with this attitude but it still hurt. Vegeta changed the subject with, "You said you wanted to ask something of me?"
Amori shook it off visibly, unwilling to talk about that, and said, "Not right now."
"Why not?"
"Vegeta," Amori insisted, "now's not the time."
Vegeta didn't push the topic, instead he turned away from him and stated, "I don't know if I will stay after tomorrow."
"May I ask why not?" Amori would do anything to keep the question out there. He felt like he was one step away from begging but it would be worth it, if it came down to that.
Vegeta shook his head, he didn't want to answer such a blatant question with a blatant answer yet. He knew this was coming, why didn't he have a response? Finally he said, very unlike himself, "I just don't know, yet."
Amori took a deep breath while trying to find the right words. A part of him didn't want to admit what he was about to say, but he'd already made a pact to himself and to Vegeta that he was no longer going to let anything be left unsaid, so he managed to explain, "I was hoping you would understand. We don't have all the time in the world like we did when we were young. The older I get, I've realized you have to make the time and effort to see someone you care about when you can and you don't waste opportunities thinking that another chance will come along."
Vegeta just stood there like a stone figurine, head upright and proud, face devoid of emotion.
Amori went on to say, "Just... consider it."
At some point in time during his speech Vegeta's eyes turned to him but then he turned away. He wondered why Renjiamori seemed so earnest, it was a little unlike him, but considering what he's asking, Vegeta could understand him thinking this important. In fact, Vegeta knew he was right about everything. Once Vegeta leaves with Goku, they will never see each other again. Vegeta has been thinking about this since he saw Renjiamori's face the first time. He struggled within himself but finally admitted very quietly, "I do want to... stay... We'll see."
That answer was enough to satisfy Renjiamori for the moment.
Only Amori or Kakarot could make him feel this way. This is partly why Vegeta didn't want to be involved with Goku in the first place and it's the whole reason he's so torn. He is his own boss, but he's been considering both the consequences of pissing off and/or hurting Amori or Kakarot or both no matter what move he makes. He decided that some things simply need to be done, and that one or the other (or both men) will just have to understand.
"You're not making this easy," Amori walked closer to him.
Vegeta felt the change in the air and turned fully to Amori. He replied, "You said yourself that it wouldn't be."
Amori suddenly hugged him because he knew Vegeta would allow it. He whispered with emotion and honesty, "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do to make it better."
Vegeta clung onto him without thinking. He knew Amori was hurting, and he could feel a cold stab in his own heart as he acknowledged that this was his fault. He squeezed him back for a moment before pulling away.
Then Amori did what Vegeta knew was coming. He kissed him, full on the lips, for long moments, until it all settled in, and the damage was done. Then he released his lips, looked into Vegeta's eyes and said, "I'm not sorry, you know, for anything."
Vegeta chuckled a little and said, "I know." He couldn't admit to him that he'd enjoyed that or say anything more on the subject. He just looked into Amori's eyes and enjoyed the sight for the moment.
Amori wanted to kiss him a million different ways and keep him here. A part of him hoped that Vegeta would leave Kakarot, but he knew it wouldn't happen. He could tell that Vegeta's relationship with Kakarot wasn't finished, it had barely even begun, but his relationship with Vegeta was quickly coming to an end.
How dead he felt inside! How could he hope beyond hope of this ending any less bitterly? Tears. He knew it would end in tears. Still, he had here and now.
So he kissed Vegeta again, more fervently. Their tongues glided against one another, sloppily at first, until they recognized one another once again, and their bodies crushed together tightly. A last kiss for old times sake. It seemed to last forever. Vegeta moaned unashamed and Amori held onto anything and everything he could get his hands on. Vegeta felt through his hair and took in his scent and thought about all the incredible times they'd had, how wonderful a man he is, and how much he taught him about life.
But he's not Kakarot.
Amori ended the kiss and told Vegeta he had something he had to take care of, but that he hoped to have an answer by tomorrow. Vegeta agreed to his terms and said goodbye. As he watched him leave, he wondered how long he could stay out in the gardens without Kakarot joining him to ask questions.
::: Concerned with Facts :::
Goku knew. He knew all through dinner yesterday and all through the night. He knew this morning when he woke up and this afternoon as they got ready for the celebration. They both dressed quickly and were waiting around for the call. Nothing kept his mind off of it for long. He had barely said a word to Vegeta. He found himself staring at him more often than not but Vegeta paid little attention to him.
He couldn't take it anymore- it's eating him up inside. How could he kiss Amori? If it was nothing why didn't he just come out with it and say so? If it was something why couldn't he tell him?! Still, it happened, and that was enough to upset Goku, regardless what comes of it.
He wanted to talk about it more than anything. Ignoring it wasn't an option, especially when they'd be stuck together in the same few rooms all night! He needed to know where he stands with Vegeta right now, before they go. He needed to know if he was expected to stand beside him all night. He wanted to know if Vegeta planned on leaving him later in the evening to be alone with Amori.
He didn't know if he could stand by and watch as Amori steals him back.
"Vegeta," Goku blurted, unable to control his emotions on the subject any further.
Vegeta stopped what he was doing and slowly looked at Goku, his shoulders grew tense.
"....." Goku stalled but the look on his face said it all. Vegeta saw his anger, jealousy, confusion, and most of all, hurt.
Vegeta looked uncomfortable but still began bravely by saying, "Look, Kakarot, it's not what you think."
Goku stammered, "Why did you kiss him?"
Vegeta answered foolishly, without thinking, "It just happened."
"Why?" Goku was awed and all the pain he thought he'd felt before increased and swelled up in his chest.
Vegeta shook his head and could come up with no answer.
Goku asked, getting more and more upset by the moments, "What now?"
"What now?" Vegeta asked, and his struggle to bear this conversation was worse than Goku's.
"Yeah," Goku shook his head over and over again in disbelief, he managed to choke out, "Am I supposed to just let this go?"
"Yes!" Vegeta growled loudly, "That's exactly right. Why it happened isn't important, it just did, now let's move on."
"I don't know if I can handle that," Goku felt panicky, his limbs shaking slightly as he spoke.
Vegeta licked his lips and desperately replied, "What other choice is there, Kakarot? It happened."
He wasn't sure what else to say to get Vegeta to either one, admit that he has feelings for Amori, or two, convince him that he wants only him, whichever is the truth. He finally said, "How can I just let this go? He has feelings for you. He wants you to stay here with him."
"Kakarot-"
"I don't know, Vegeta."
"What don't you know?" Vegeta growled again, anger fogging his mind. This is another conversation he didn't want to have. He managed to say, "Amori and I haven't seen each other in decades, Kakarot. I thought he told you the story of how I left. You had to have known that he would kiss me, you had to have known that he's why I was brought out here."
"Yes, he's told me more about your past than you have," it was Goku's turn to growl. "So Huntre was right," he answered in jealousy. His mind was clouded as he argued, "Everyone here is laughing at me? They all knew about you and Amori and I didn't." Suddenly his voice grew louder and quicker as he cried, "I kept asking you about your past! You keep telling me no, but I'm obviously gonna find out! What did Huntre mean about Raditz- can you tell me that? What about Gohan?!" He saw a flash of shock in Vegeta's as he continued, "You thought I didn't know! Damn it, Vegeta, I'm tired of you treating me like an empty-headed, worthless, LOW CLASS SAIYAN!"
Neither man noticed their power levels rising drastically. Vegeta, enraged, retorted, "I TOLD YOU A LONG TIME AGO NOT TO GET INVOLVED WITH ME!"
"FINE!" Goku let out his energy in a sudden blast Vegeta had to defend against. It left paintings on the wall to come crashing to the ground, and furniture pushed back. None of this went noticed as he said, "I'll go to this thing tonight with you but-"
"No, Kakarot, listen," Vegeta interrupted again, realizing that this was not how this conversation was supposed to go. He stumbled to find the right words and all he managed was, "I want to be with you."
"I'm not so sure you do, " Goku said, turning away and looking dejected.
"Can we do this later?" Vegeta offered, drained and confused himself. He didn't know what to do or what he was supposed to say.
Goku shrugged, uncertain what was happening. Why put this off? They put off everything that requires emotion or stability. What difference does it make?
"I... want you," Vegeta admitted, "but I don't want to talk about this right now."
"When do you ever want to talk about anything with me?" Goku wondered harshly, his eyes boring into Vegeta's.
There came a knock on their door and a voice came through. "Gentlemen," it trembled, "You are being summoned now, are you both ready?" The man on the other side hadn't heard anything that was said but that power that he'd felt had gone throughout the entire building. Anyone in their right mind would be afraid to come near it.
Vegeta's eyes held onto Goku's for some time before finally Goku answered the man, "We're coming." He said to Vegeta, "I'm gonna try to let this go for right now."
"Okay," Vegeta whispered, and let him lead the way out the door.
It was clear to the man they were in some sort of spat, but the reasons remained unclear. Goku's tail bristled behind him and Vegeta had to remind him of it so that he would keep it under control.
Goku was defiant at first, but put it away before they reached the grand halls for the celebration. Suddenly his world was turning again, even as he was walking. he saw... Jeremel laughing and saying something on a large, well lit stage. He saw Amori and Vegeta standing together, their eyes fixed on Jeremel. People were screaming and Goku wasn't sure if it was out of glee or horror. He tried to make out the words, but it was fading away.
When he came to it was much like before, his head throbbed for a moment but the pain went away. He'd hit the floor at some point in time and Vegeta was bent over him, asking him what was going on. Goku shook his head and answered, "I don't know. It's nothing, I'm fine."
So as not to make a scene in front of the servant, Vegeta said nothing and helped Goku off of the ground.
A few minutes later they entered into one of the biggest rooms Goku had ever seen. He turned to his right and there was the stage he had seen in his vision. He hardly noticed the people cheering and clapping as they entered. Amori intercepted them before anyone else could and they followed him through the room to their table. There were many other tables spread about, and most of them were distinctive, saying which one belonged to which guest. In front of them stood the stage, the same stage Goku had just seen in his vision. A good ways to the left of their seats there was a stairway leading to the stage.
Vegeta sat down beside Goku. He tried awkwardly to hold his hand, which Goku allowed, still unsure how he really felt about everything, plus he said he would be cool. After a few moments though, Vegeta squeezed it one time before releasing it altogether. Goku saw Amori saying hello to him, but whether he said hello back or anything at all he couldn't be sure. He knew he at least smiled, though. He watched through a haze as Jeremel appeared and beckoned for Renji. The two of them talked for a few brief minutes before Jeremel ceremoniously took the stage.
Vegeta sat back down and Renjiamori came and sat with both of them. He smiled at Vegeta but neither man said anything. Goku grabbed onto Vegeta's hand, Vegeta didn't let go, and Amori noticed.
The clapping and cheering turned to murmuring and chatter as Jeremel took his sweet time on the stage before saying a word. People whistled and shouted and rattled about.
Jeremel's voice echoed throughout the room, the projector behind him showing him in all his glory to those without the privilege of having closer tables. The first thing he said was, "People are still getting to their seats. Weelll, I want every one to be sitting down when I say what I have to say." He laughed and the whole crowd roared along side him. Everyone sat down quickly and grew quiet after that.
The second thing he said was, "We all know why we were invited here today." The guests began to clap but he cut them off with, "After I'm done everyone can clap and cheer all night, but for now, like I said, give me your undivided attention." The hush grew faster and more solid then before.
The third thing he said was, "We're here to celebrate Master Renji's grand conquest! But! That is not the only reason you have all been brought here tonight."
As Jeremel looked at Vegeta and Renji, Vegeta let Goku's hand go.
Then, Jeremel's speech truly began with, "Let me tell you a story," and his lip snarled a little and his smile grew ugly. Amori looked at Vegeta confused but Vegeta stared at nothing but Jeremel.
