Furher Thomas Watering (he finally has a name XD) had a new plan, a perfect plan. He'd get Envy to help him out, cut another deal. Didn't Envy want that Alphonse Elric's reject of a Homunculus? He smirked as he looked up at his secretary who held a note pad in her left hand and a pen in her right. She smiled as she sat down and as the Furher talked she wrote out notes.
Chapter Ten: Rachisuru
Roy woke up to Ed snuggling up to him. He smiled and hugged him before slowly getting out of the bed. He didn’t want to wake him. He ordered room service for them both and had it made to come up in about an hour. He was still a bit confused as to what had happened yesterday. He wasn’t quite registering what Ed had said about Furher Watering hiring someone to kill him and the others. He was also confused as to why Ed hadn’t healed immediately, like Envy did, when he was shot. That was a pretty scary thought. That meant that there was a possibility that Ed could die again and he wasn’t having that. He heard the knock on the door and opened it, taking the food and tipping the room service help. As soon as he put the food on the table, Ed started to wake up. Roy smiled. Ed never stayed asleep when he smelt food.
He opened his eyes at the first hint of a scent of food in the room. He also noticed the missing warmth that he loved next to him. He sat up and rubbed his eyes. To many thoughts swarm his head, things he had to say to Roy and things he didn't really want to admit. Things like being able to die without Yami. He knew that Roy was going to ask sooner or later about his healing disabilities that he didn't quite understand. He yawned and got up to get dressed. He then moved into the next room to see all sorts of breakfast foods on the table that the hotel provided. He licked his lips and his stomach growled.
Roy watched as the sleepy blonde came wondering out of the bedroom and instantly perked up at the sight of food. “Good morning.” He never knew, until there were words spoken, if it was in fact Yami or Ed that he woke up to. So he waited until Ed/Yami talked to him first. He had been seeing more of Ed recently but that didn’t mean that Yami never came out. “There is plenty of food so help yourself. After your done and ready we should probably go down and talk to Hawkeye and the others. But first, there are some things that we should probably talk about.” Once again, he didn’t know if he was going to get a “Huh?” response or an Ed response so he sat and waited for an answer
Ed yawned and took almost all of the pancakes. "Right.... " He said then stuffed a fork full of pancakes into his mouth. "Yami hasn't been wanting to come out lately, so don't worry." Edward said noticing Roy's watchful expression. What does he want me to tell them exactly? Edward thought as he ate almost all of the food on the table. Roy did say I could help my self!
Roy sighed quietly. He was actually relieved that Ed was the one showing himself. He didn’t mind Yami, aside from the fact that he probably had no idea what was going on and even if he did he probably wouldn’t say anything due to the fact that the person who he would probably be telling Roy about was no other then the person he was presumably hiding from. Roy almost died laughing watching Ed eat everything on the table. He wouldn’t be surprised if he ate the tabletop too. “Good.” Roy chuckled. He couldn’t help it. “Well when your ready to tell me what happened yesterday please do. I’m extremely confused and rather interested to know why my subordinates lives as well as mine are endangered.” Roy’s face was playful until he thought about the other thing that was bothering him. As much as he was afraid to hear the answer in case it was more devastating then anything he thought it could be. “Ed, why aren’t you healing like a normal homunculus?”
Edward sighed and sat back in the chair. " I guess it is better to tell you first and then the unit." Edward then rubbed his eyes of the remaining sleep and then grew serious. " The Furher got Envy to kill me. It seems that I was the person in his way. Now, it's you in his way. You and your whole unit. He has bigger plans, and the remaining homunculi are in the plan. I asked Yami about it a couple nights ago, but he said he didn't know about it." Then came the next question, which he didn't know how to answer. "Well, You can say that Alphonse didn't fail on his attempt on Human Transmutation. It just takes time to heal as a soul. I'm slowly becoming human. The longer I stay out, the harder it is for me to heal as fast as Envy or Wrath." He smiled. "Soon Yami won't want to come out at all. He's the thing that makes this body heal faster. Since he hasn't been out for about two or so weeks now, it's more human then it has been for the last year or so. " He wondered what expression he would get from Roy as he looked straight on.
Roy was drinking his coffee while Ed was telling him that he was in the way of the Furher’s plans, whatever they may be. He was quite intrigued by the fact that there was something being planned in the military that required the taking out of him and his division. He was definitely a tad bit pissed off by the fact but being who he was, it didn’t affect him near as much as it should have. He also wasn’t surprised that Yami knew nothing of it. Ed was quite serious when he said that Yami didn’t come out. What did affect him and surprised the hell out of him was the fact that Ed said he was becoming human. He had just lifted his cup to his lips and as soon as the information was relayed he took a nice big swallow of steaming hot coffee. He didn’t choke on it but he swore he could feel the muscle tissue on the inside of his throat melt away. He looked at Ed, insides still burning, with his eyes wide and watery from the heat. “What was that you just said? I’m sorry but I thought you said that you were becoming human.” Roy stared at him, breathing becoming heavier. This was not what he was expecting at all. He was overly ecstatic about the fact that Al had indeed, or eventually, succeeded in the human transmutation of his brother. Which means that Roy would have Ed completely and utterly whole again. One the other hand, the Furher had killed Ed once. And if he’s going after Roy and finds out this information, which he surely will since Envy was working with him and Envy knew, what makes anyone think that he wont try to, or succeed, in killing Ed again? Roy couldn’t lose him again. He didn’t think he could live through the pain and despair again.
Edward sighed, knowing that exactly what Roy was thinking. "Yes, that is correct." He felt a little cold on how he told Roy, but at the same, he couldn't wait to feel all of his emotions towards Roy return. At the same time, he didn't want any of them to return cause he didn't want Yami to disappear. "I know. Envy will come and try, hell maybe even succeed in killing me again when the process is finished. There's nothing I can do about that. Envy scares Yami so much." Edward shook his head and looked at Roy's watery eyes. "And Envy will be the one to try and kill you. I won't and down want to let that happen." Edward was more serious then he had been for the last year and a half. Edward sighed; it was becoming a habit, and closed his eyes. "I don't want you to be hurt again, if I die. Right now, I won't die if they try to kill me now. In a couple months or so they'd be able too. So I'm going to help you and give them hell. I'm not afraid to die. I already know how it is. It's not that bad really, but I don't want you to be hurt, physically or mentally. I love you, and I'm going to fight harder this time." Edward gave an encouraging smirk to Roy. I won't die this time. I refuse to die this time.
Roy managed a small chuckle. And reached out to brush the hair out of Ed’s face. “I love you too. It’s not your fault you died. It’s not. You really didn’t have a choice.” He felt extremely bad for the boy. He couldn’t very well tell him that if he died he would be just fine. Ed knew better and so did Roy. He would be absolutely devastated. “We better get down to the bottom of this quickly. Because without Yami coming out and giving you the immortality of the homunculi, you only have a few more months to fight.” Roy smirked. “You have got to think that I am totally crazy if you think that I’m going to let Envy fight you when you become human again. I love you and I refuse to let him get a hold of you again.” He knew that no matter what kind of protection Ed had offered to him there was no way that one could keep out the elusive Envy. But that didn’t mean that Roy wasn’t going to try his hardest. There could be a way to bide Ed more time if it was done right though. “Why is Yami so afraid of Envy?” He wondered if it had anything to do with a couple days ago. What ever it was, if it was something that could be fixed then maybe they could get Yami to come out simply to give Ed that valuable gift at least until they can get all this taken care of. However if his previous thought was right, then it was going to take a lot more then coaxing to get Yami to come out.
Edward felt his skin craw as Yami's memories flashed before his eyes. Memories he'd prefer never knowing. He bit his bottom lip and shook his head. "I'm sorry, I can't s-say really." It was hard just to say that. He couldn't image describing every detail and reason Yami, and even him feared Envy and what he could do to him. "I know I should tell you, I'm afraid you'd do something rash." His smile grew sad and his eyes a deep amber. "He'd like to talk to you, but he doesn't want me to know what he wants to tell you." He felt like he was some sort of messenger. He didn't like that, but I need Roy to talk to Yami, and this is the only way... Ed sighed as he eyes went to an in-between color.
Roy knew it was bad. He just knew it was. He gave a half smile and tried to sound as endearing as possibly trying to keep the fact that he was holding back jumping up and finding the green haired bastard right at that moment. But he didn’t. “ I promise I won’t do anything rash, being that it will only make it worse for Yami, and you. He may come and talk to me anytime he wishes. I will respect his privacy. He doesn’t need to worry about that.”
The eye color flickered between purple/gold to amber several times before resting on purplish golden color. He looked around quickly, not really sure where he was, but he did know it wasn't Roy's house. Then as if someone told him aloud he nodded and then looked at Roy and smiled. "It's nice to see you again!" Yami said with a false cheerfulness that could be spotted by the most gullible person. He then looked like he was about to run out of the hotel as he looked around again, as if checking to make sure the palm tree fiend definitely wasn't there. "I know it's bad and very unfair of me to go and hid like that. I'm very sorry. You've been very kind to me and I feel like I owe you an explanation."
Roy was always fascinated by the small transformation between Edward and Yami. He was definitely aware of Yami’s presence just by the expressions pouring from his eyes. Roy sat up straight and looked at him. “I know you’re not too thrilled with being here but I can assure you that you are safe with me. I’m not going to let anything happen to you. You can relax and you don’t owe me anything. I can understand the fact that you are scared to be here. Take your time. I don’t expect you to go pouring everything out on the table. That has to be hard for you.” Roy definitely didn’t want to rush the homunculus. He seemed to be fragile enough and if he didn’t want his counter part to hear what he was saying then it had to be something extremely personal and traumatic for him.
Yami took a deep breath. "Don’t expect me to stay out long, Envy can sense me if I stay out for more then an hour so I need to hurry this up. Ed doesn't remember much of Envy's last attack on us. But he does remember the first time. He.... He...." Yami got a far off look in his eyes as if he was looking for the words to describe what Envy did to him. "He touched me...no...us...He touched us. It felt disgusting cause I didn't want him to touch me..." Yami opened his mouth, and then closed it. "It's all healed now. It didn't heal fast cause I ran away in to the darkness. I like it better there. There's no pain there. No need to remember anything there." He shook his head. "I know what he did. He fucked me. He fucked me hard and long. He raped me.” Yami chuckled a hollow laugh and looked away from Roy, to ashamed to show his face towards Roy.
Roy sat there for a second trying to compute what was being said to him. ‘He touched me...no....us...He touched us…’ Roy took a deep breath. As much as he had a feeling that that sick bastard would do something like this he had hoped himself wrong. Not only was Yami involve with this but Ed was as well. And no one touched Ed. No one. Unfortunately he had made a promise. He listened to the rest of Yami’s story, clenching his jaw so tightly that he thought his teeth were going to fall out. It bothered him even more that this had happened more then once. He remembered Ed on the train coming here and how uncomfortable he was. He suddenly wanted to pick up the nearest thing and throw it out the window. But his demeanor change when he realized that Yami wasn’t looking at him anymore. And it looked like he didn’t want to. Quickly but gently he reached out and grabbed a hold of Yami’s chin and lifted his face toward his own. “Please don’t be ashamed for me to see you.” Roy was holding back so much anger that his voice came out in a very low tone almost a whisper. “ You didn’t do this to yourself. You didn’t bring it upon yourself. He’s just a sick bastard. And I promise you he will be dealt with when the time comes. You have to trust me.” He ran a thumb over Yami’s cheekbone. “You’ll be okay I promise.”
Yami blushed. He didn't like any kind of physical contact but from Roy, it felt good. He looked at Roy, pure violet eyes looked at Roy. Meaning Ed kept his word and stayed away. Tears came to his eyes. He felt safe around Roy. He knew Roy wouldn't hurt him at all. The tears started coming faster until Yami wrapped his arms around Roy’s waist and hid his face in Roy's clothed stomach. "I-I know" He choked, words muffled by Roy's clothes. "I- tr-r-rust you!" He sobbed. All of the emotions Ed brought were hard for him to deal with. He was after all the empty shell part of Ed's quickly healing soul.
Roy was happy it was just Yami here. It meant that He was getting and dealing with a full-fledged Yami. Yami must have trusted him enough to let Ed go away COMPLETEY. He could see the hurt in his eyes and he couldn’t stand it. He wanted to make it go away. The next thing he knew he had a sobbing sin burying his head in his stomach. This was completely new to Roy. So he took advantage of the fact that Yami was letting himself be comforted. Roy gently grabbed him under the arms and pulled him up to where Yami was practically sitting in his lap and Roy wrapped his arms around him. He placed his head on Yami’s and just held him. “ It’s okay. We’ll get through this together. I won’t let you do it by yourself. I promise.” He had made another promise, another promise that he was not going to break. Not now and not ever.
Yami felt comfortable in Roy's arms, in the back of his head, he could feel Ed getting impatient and worried. He sat up and looked Roy straight in the eye. "I'll help you out if you need me. Envy's not the only shape shifter around here, mines just more limited. I don't like doing it either, but I'd do it for you." He wiped away any remaining tears on his face. "Envy doesn't know that I can do that. He thought the alchemy was my ability. I never told him cause he'd want me to use it. I didn't and never want to use that ability for that bastard. I better go, I stayed out to long as it is." Yami looked off, eyes dimming to a darker color then back into a lighter color before he could give Roy anytime to say anything.
Roy sat there listening to Yami offer his help in the situation so very quickly that Roy barely had time to comprehend any of it. The next thing he knew Ed was sitting in his lap. “Umm…give me a few minutes.” That was all he could say at the moment. He thought about what Yami had said about shape shifting and Envy being able to track him down if he was out for longer then a minute. Roy put his head on Ed’s shoulder and thought deeply on how to use Yami. It would work to both of their advantages. There would be plenty of opportunities to use Yami and with that came Yami coming out more, giving Ed more time to use the immortality ability. It was all working out. But first thing he wanted to do is kill a certain envious sin.
Edward blinked. He was completely lost. He was one minute sitting in the evil darkness and now he was on Roy's lap, with Roy's head on his shoulder. He's just as confused as me. Edward felt laughing. He patted Roy on the head. "Okay...” Edward said as he tried to sort out things that Yami started throwing his way. Ed sighed and gave up. He waited for Roy to sort out his own confusion. "We should go and see the other's now." Edward then said, waiting to see if Roy was okay before he'd make any move to get off the comfortable lap.
Roy finally figured out what had just gone on and pulled away from Ed. “ We have to keep in touch with him and he’ll have to come out more often. That will help you out with the whole immortal thing. That’s about all I’m at the liberty to say right now but you’re right we need to go see the others.” He looked at the clock. It was about that time. Everyone should be up and if they weren’t they would be due to Hawkeye’s thing with being up at the crack of dawn. Roy looked at Ed and gave him a small peck on the lips before making to get up off the chair.
Edward smiled and returned a quick peck of his own; getting off of the comfortable warm lap and nodded. He looked down thinking, wondering what it was that Yami told Roy. Yami never asked for Ed to do that before, he didn't mind. Edward put on a smile and waited for Roy to get ready. Just for now I have to be immortal, for Roy's sake if anything else. Immortality is colder then anyone else thinks. He looked back up and waited at the door for Roy.
Roy quickly got dressed and went to the door where Ed was waiting for him. “Ready?” He walked out the door making sure that it was completely shut behind him. They walked down the steps towards Hawkeye’s room. She was stationed on the first floor with Brenda and Falman to keep away from Havoc and his smoking. He figured that he could tell her some of the things that Ed had told him before he told the rest of the unit. He was still trying to figure out what he was going to do with Yami when the time came to deal with Envy. Ed would have to know what was going on at least a little bit because he was the one who was going to have to finish him off. But Roy decided that they had to deal with the most recent problems that have risen first. Like informing everyone that Furher Watering was out to kill them all. When he got to Riza’s room he knocked, despite the fact that he had a key to every one of their rooms just in case. He knocked a few more times but there was still no answer. “That’s not like her. I know she’s awake. She’s probably with one of the others.” Just to make sure he used his own key to open the door. As he expected the room was in complete order and she was nowhere to be found. “Well let’s go se if she’s in one of the guys rooms.” He walked out and shut the door behind him.
Edward nodded, thinking of Riza waking the rest of the unit by shooting at them. Edward knew something was up when they checked the next two rooms. Brenda's room was slightly messed, but nothing major that would indicate a break in or struggle, but no Brenda to be seen anywhere within the room. He frowned and looked around the room as Roy went to the other room.
Roy looked around the room. No sign of anyone. Havoc and Fury’s room smelt of cigarettes and the bed was slightly rumpled but that was it. Roy walked back to Ed slightly frustrated. They would never leave the hotel without notifying me first. “Something isn’t right. Did you ever hear the phone ring or someone knocking on the door?” About the time he said that a young woman that could have been much older the Ed walked towards them. She was carrying a brown paper package. “General Mustang, sir?” Roy looked at her slightly confused for a second. “Yes?” She held out the package for Roy to grab and smiled. “This came for you this morning.” Roy reached out and grabbed the package from her. “Thank you.” He was examining the package so intently that he had forgotten to tip the lady. But when he looked up she was running and giggling down the hallway. On any other occasion he would of laughed at the young girls lack of self-control to at least wait until he was out of sight to freak out. He went back to his package and noted that it was unmarked except for his name on the front. As much as he wanted to rip it open to find out what the hell was in the damn thing, he knew that very very few people knew he was there. And this could be important information. “Let’s go back to the room.” He barely said to Ed as he went toward the stairs to go back to their room.
Edward nodded, wanting to know what could be in the brown cubed package. He didn't really like the bouncing bell girl that was giggling her head off down the hall. He saw her pair up with a friend and point at Roy. He felt like transmuting them both into a frog or at least a pile of mush. He turned to enter their room and sighed as he watched Roy place the package on the table. He glared at it. He didn't hear any ticking sounds. Just a lot of ruffling sounds when they walked down the hall. He sat at the table, wondering where his friends could have gone. He was worried, but he didn't want to worry Roy. What ever Yami said to him, had him confused. It must weigh heavy on his mind. I'm just glad that he isn't plotting any sort of revenge.... at least I don't think so.... Edward looked at Roy and sighed, waiting for Roy to open the stupid package already.
Roy stared at the package for a few more seconds just trying to figure out who, that knew he was here, would feel it necessary to send him a package and not wait until he got back. He reached over and opened the package. There was a box and a letter. He went to open the box but decided to read the letter first. He picked it up and started to read it. A blind person would have been able to see the expression on his face change from surprise to an almost demented expression. Roy Mustang was pissed. He threw the letter o the table and ripped open the box to reveal exactly what the letter said he was going to see. There, in the box, had to of been 30 pictures. All different angles but of the same people. Roy flipped through the pictures trying hard not to scream and rip them apart. It was his unit. They had been beaten and cut in various different places. They had looked very bad. If Roy hadn’t known these people he would of sworn that some of them might not survive the brutal punishment that they were receiving from their captors. They were mocking him. They were playing with him. They took the two most precious things in his life and were using them against him. He was livid. Roy, without much control of his emotions at this point, grabbed the chair that was in front of him and threw it as hard as he could against the wall. He grabbed the chair next to it and slammed it into the glass end table that was sitting next to the overstuffed armchair. After he had succeeded to beat the table to nothing, the glass was everywhere. He let the poor chair go. He was breathing heavily and he had managed to break a sweat. He looked over at Ed. His eyes were wide with fear and madness. “They…can’t...do this to ME!”
Roy's expression reminded Edward of a victim in a horror movie. He was shocked at Roy's sudden burst of emotion. He frowned and picked up the letter. It was a thin piece of paper, but it was written with cutout letters from a magazine carefully and expertly put together to form the letter. He read the letter then reread it.
General Roy Mustang, The Flame Alchemist:
We have your unit. If you want them back in 'one-piece'. Hand over the homunculus. If you fail to agree with these circumstances, we will resort to killing them off and sending their bodies in a box like the one you got. We will meet one week from now at the borders of this town.
Thank you.
Edward then picked up the pictures, he felt sick. He felt like picking up the remaining chair and breaking it into tiny pieces. First he had to make Roy calm down and think responsibly. "Roy, I'm sorry." Edward said as he moved slowly towards his ex-commanding officer and lover. "But now we need to think about this. Please calm down. " Edward had a serious look and glared at the distasteful pictures and letter. "Go sit down." He knew Roy had every reason to be pissed off.
Roy sat down like Ed had instructed. He could do much to resist. He put his head between his knees. This was getting out of hand. He wasn’t able to protect them as they had done on numerous occasions for him. This was killing him. And to top it all off they wanted him to give them Yami. Which meant that Ed would go with him. He would never do that. He promised to protect Yami and he wouldn’t give up Ed. But he couldn’t let his men die. He took deep breaths trying to calm himself down before he gave himself a heart attack. People went thru this sort of thing occasionally. The only difference is their kidnappers wanted money. His wanted the love of his life and his counterpart.
Edward sighed and wrapped his arms around Roy. "I don't want them to die. I hate seeing you this way." Edward put his head on Roy’s. He felt like crying. He knew what he had to do. They want me. There has to be more to it. I just know it. He thought, as he held on to Roy, unsure what to do. It has to be a trap. His anger started to slowly rise. He swallowed it back and kissed the top of Roy's head. They’re going to try to get two birds with one stone. "Roy, we need to figure out what to do before this week is up. I think there's more to this then we think." Edward was surprised at how adult he was acting. He guessed it was shock from the display Roy showed.
