The hung over noble couldn’t hold it anymore. As soon as he left Kakarot’s presence, he relieved the contents of his stomach on the side of the trail towards town. He watched with exhausted eyes as the rain washed it all away and panted for air in his bent over position. After the feeling had passed, he stood and looked towards his home, which was on the other side of town. He decided not to waste anymore time and quickly headed into town.
Once there, he jumped to the rooftops so he wouldn’t risk running into people. Vegeta has never felt such exhilaration. He wasn’t in disguise and his black outfit didn’t blend in well at all with the crowd. He actually looked around himself more as he made his way through town. The colors were more vibrant and stunning as the crowd of people blended together, trying to make their way to their own destination. All had straw hats or umbrellas over there heads to keep the rain off of them. Even though the atmosphere wasn’t as cheery since it was raining, it made the experience all the more new.
He stopped on one of the high buildings, probably a hotel or a whore house, and decided to study the environment a bit more. Sure he’s been in town before, but everything was hidden behind a veil of blue and the experience wasn’t the same. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes as the smell of the rain filled his intoxicated system. The fresh air was different and it calmed him. It was nothing like the inside of a suffocating manor full of high class know-it-alls.
He continued to gawk at the numerous people that came in and out of the little restaurants, saloons, whore houses, and vendor stands. Why was his father keeping him from all of this? The air out here was more crisp, the land was wide, and the people were numerous. So much out there to see, and all he’s seen were the inside of mansions, either to kill the noble’s or to converse with them. Vegeta sighed contently at the feeling of freedom for a moment until he caught something within his sight. Lone, white pieces of paper seemed to be nailed to the side of every building, each one the same with words on it. What caught his attention was a small group of people that surrounded one of them at a small saloon. Curiosity nagging at him, he decided to get a closer look.
The oddly conspicuous noble moved over a couple buildings, then stopped on one and looked across the street at the saloon. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that the big, bold words on the sheet of paper said ‘WANTED’ and a description of the person below. He then realized it must’ve been a wanted poster of the samurai, but there was no drawing. Eyeing the people next to it, he snuck over by the saloon to try and eavesdrop on what they were saying. “Wow! You’re lucky to be alive!” A girl in pink exclaimed to a girl in yellow and brown attire.
“I know! I even served the guy tea! And out of everything that usually occurred here, I’m surprised we didn’t feel his wrath from making such a racket!” The girl in yellow responded.
“Maybe he didn’t want to bring attention to himself. After all, he’s wanted in ten areas now.” The one in pink whispered.
“No way! Ten places?! Why haven’t they caught the guy yet? He must be really dangerous if no one can catch him. What if he kills someone else? I told the boss I’m not working on night shift by myself anymore.” The one in brown seemed to be quite panicked at the idea.
Vegeta didn’t know what to think. Ten areas? Why didn’t he tell him that? Wasn’t that important information? To tell the one he’s sleeping with that he’s been wanted in ten places? What exactly did he do to make him so popular? Maybe his enemies were trying to make it easier for themselves if the whole public knew who they were after. What if…that’s why he was always moving from place to place? Will he leave now that he’s told him that he’s wanted here as well? The noble shook slightly in fear of losing the samurai. No. He can’t leave. Not until he’s found out what it is that Kakarot has done. He must know. He growled at this newfound information and proceeded his way back to his home.
Once there, he realized from his bird’s eye point of view that the guards were all in a rush. Some yelling at others to check in places in town. Vegeta’s heart sped up in panic as he realized they were looking for him. As he watched the scene of panicked guards and servants, a thought occurred to him. Should he go back? He looked at his manor a moment longer before turning his gaze toward the other side of town, where his samurai waited for his return. This would be the perfect opportunity for him to escape. They all probably think he ran away and he did but only for the night. Maybe…he should leave it that way? His thoughts turned to the samurai and the many unanswered questions that still plagued him. He told Kakarot he would talk to Lord Akuto, the leader of the Doumei clan, to get the price off of his head. Yes. In order for them to live a peaceful life, he must find a way to get the clan to leave him alone. And in order for that to work, he must attend as a noble, as their ally, not a pissed off assassin after blood.
With his mind made up, Vegeta settled a determined gaze at his manor. Shall he appear as someone that barely made it out alive? Or shall he show up as if he’d lost track of time? With his absence, he shouldn’t come back empty handed. A perfect plan in mind, he decided not to return to his home, but to return to his Master. The plan was sketchy, but it could work. He ran in the pouring rain all the way to the Hara manor.

Ookami paced back and forth in one of the empty halls of his home with an angry and confused expression pasted onto his face. He heard the news of his fiancé gone missing. Lord and Lady Hokoru were in a panic and were searching the whole area for him. The young Lord growled. Where was his fiancé? Perhaps he was fearful of his future with him and ran. Or perhaps it has something to do with the samurai that has been wanted in town. Thoughts of kidnapping and other acts of revenge were cast out the window. His fiancé was more than capable of preventing himself getting captured. However, Ookami feared the worst with the samurai. Who knew what his fiancé was doing out on his missions? As soon as he married the young noble, he would make sure that he wouldn’t leave the manor at all.
Downstairs, Lord Koga paced in his work room, fearing the worst of his young apprentice. What if he was kidnapped by people that were close to the victims of the past and wanted revenge? Or worse yet, by that samurai? Lord Koga had sent half of his guards and his clan to aid the Hokoru family in search of their son. He was about to go into a nervous breakdown if his future son-in-law wasn’t found soon.
He was broke out of his nervous pace as someone knocked respectfully at his door. “Come in.” His voice cracked from the stress weighed upon his mind.
A guard entered and bowed. “My Lord, young Master Vegeta wishes to speak with you.”
Lord Koga’s gasp was caught in his throat. “He has returned?”
The guard nodded. “Yes, my Lord. He has information he wishes to share with you. He claims it’s important.”
It took a moment for him to respond. “Yes, of course! Send him in.” Excitement and relief flooded him as he eagerly waited for the young noble to grace his site, assuring him that he was alive and well.
Vegeta entered his Master’s office as soon as the guard granted him permission. He was soaking wet and had an urgent air about him. “Master, I have news!” He was taken back as his Master suddenly embraced him. “M-Master?”
“Oh, Vegeta! I’m so relieved! You have returned! I was fearing the worst!” Lord Koga pulled back to take a closer look at his apprentice. “Where have you been? And why did you leave? What is this important news you have for me? Do you’re mother and father know that you have returned?” He couldn’t help but bombard the young noble with questions.
Vegeta sighed. “Master, I’m fine and no my parents don’t know of my return. But I need to tell you of-”
“You didn’t return home first? Oh, but you’re parents must be worried to death!”
“Master! Don’t worry about that now! I must tell you something of the samurai!” Vegeta couldn’t believe that his Master was more worried about his parents than why he’s even returned at all.
Lord Koga was frozen in place for a moment. “You do?”
Vegeta nodded. “As you know, I was rather disappointed in my last mission. So, I thought I’d go out and do some research on my own. I have returned to you to tell you what I’ve found.” A moment of silence passed as Lord Koga eagerly awaited for the news. “As you have probably heard, the samurai has been wanted in ten areas. They say as soon as the price on his head is out, he flees. So, I searched everywhere and have come to the conclusion that the samurai has indeed fled. The proof is the trail I followed that lead to Kanazawa. It seems that he’s been wanted all over the south of the continent and he is moving north.”
Lord Koga thought about this information for a moment. “Yes, that does seem to make sense.”
“I also wish to see Lord Akuto regarding the samurai. Since he is our ally and you wish to aid him, we must gather more information so we can.” Vegeta clenched his fists to make himself look more determined.
Lord Koga thought about his apprentices’ choice of words and decided that there wasn’t any reason not to trust him. “Very well. In fact, I have scheduled a meeting with Lord Akuto tomorrow. Since you went out of your way to retrieve this information, you shall accompany me. What do you think? Will that do?”
Vegeta couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Did his Master ask about his opinion? Is he giving him a choice whether or not to go with him? “Yes, Master! That will!” He couldn’t help the smile that beamed his face.
Lord Koga returned the smile. “Excellent. We shall leave early so that we may have the whole day to plan out a way to catch the samurai. He is a very dangerous individual and it won’t do to have him wandering the country doing whatever he wishes.” He took a step forward and absently ran a hand through the young noble’s drenched hair. “Now, return home and dry off before you become ill. I’ll have some of my guards…” He trailed off as he thought of his orders. “On second thought, why don’t we have your parents come here? I’m sure they would like to know why you went missing and I bet they’ll be furious with you. It would do some good to explain everything to them and maybe things will be better.”
Vegeta almost embraced his Master, however he tried not to act too ecstatic. “Thank you, Master.” He bowed politely.
Lord Koga waved a hand at him. “Not an issue. Now, let’s get you into something a little more…dry.” He called for his guard standing outside the door and ordered for him to find something for the young noble to wear. “Perhaps something of Ookami’s should do. You two are almost the same size, after all.”
Vegeta froze. Great. Now he has to wear something of the bastard’s…and they’re hardly the same size. However, he swallowed his pride just this once and bowed. “Thank you, Master.”
Lord Koga smiled. “Think nothing of it.”
Vegeta and the guard left the office and went upstairs towards Ookami’s room. On their way, they ran into him. “Greetings, Ook-”
“Vegeta!” Vegeta started to say as he was interrupted by his fiancé. “Where have you been?” He was suddenly embraced by the other. “And why are you soaked?” He studied the young noble’s attire and couldn’t help but lick his lips.
Vegeta didn’t miss the gesture and suddenly felt self-conscious. “I…went out on a little errand…and it’s raining.”
Ookami’s eyes narrowed when he mentioned going out on an errand. “Hm. So, what brings you here?”
Vegeta hesitated. “I merely seek for something dry.”
Ookami smirked and Vegeta resisted the urge to groan. Ookami looked to the guard. “You may leave us. I shall find him something to wear.” The guard bowed and left. Vegeta looked back at the guard, almost telling him not to leave. “Follow me.” Ookami gave his fiancé one last look before leading the way to…wherever he was taking them. Vegeta swallowed and obeyed.
Some time later, they arrived at Ookami’s room after all. Ookami opened the door for his fiancé and gestured for him to enter. Vegeta hesitated before doing so and Ookami followed in after him and quietly locked the door. Vegeta didn’t notice the action as he looked around the noble’s usually clean room. Ookami went over to his closet to pick out something for Vegeta to wear. “Actually, a towel would be just fine. I doubt any of your clothes are going to fit me.” Vegeta said a bit nervously.
“Nonsense. You can’t walk around in wet clothes. You will become ill.” Ookami sifted through a few more clothes before finally picking one. “Ah, here we are. It’s a bit small for me anyway.” He tossed a thin, white robe to him as Vegeta caught it and inspected it.
Vegeta quirked an eyebrow at him. “The same fate would befall me if I pranced around in this as well.” He tossed the robe on the bed and crossed his arms.
Ookami glared at him. However, Vegeta missed it as he went into the bathroom that was connected to the room. He picked up the first towel he saw and dried his hair. He then shrugged off his wet shirt, which took some effort, then dried off his torso.
Ookami entered the room then and embraced him from behind. “So, what was your errand that was so important that you have the whole town worried? And don’t lie to me. I’ll know if you do.” He traced Vegeta’s muscles on his stomach as he waited for an answer.
Vegeta froze at the touch and tried to come up with an answer. “First of all, the whole town hardly knows I exist and for your information, I left to retrieve information about the samurai.” He ran the towel down his arms.
Ookami watched the action. “And what did you find?”
“That the samurai has left. It seemed as soon as the bounty on his head was out, he fled. Just like everywhere else he’s been.” Vegeta was glad he wasn’t looking at him. His face might have given him away and he was a master at making a lie sound like the truth.
“Mhm.” Ookami hummed skeptically as his hands moved up to trace his fiancé’s slick chest. He leaned his head on his shoulder and whispered in his ear. “Is that all?”
Vegeta tensed at the movement. “Well…Master and I are going to Kyoto tomorrow to speak with Lord Akuto to see if we could help him catch the samurai.”
“Do you know where he’s going?” Ookami stopped his movements only to tighten his hold on the young noble. He wanted to get all the information he could to make sure this all wasn’t a lie.
Vegeta held back a gasp at the unexpected movement. “I believe he’s heading to Kanazawa.”
“Mhm.” He began kissing Vegeta’s neck, no longer able to help himself with the lithe, wet noble in his arms.
Vegeta flinched at the feeling and thought about pulling out his swords, but Ookami would stop him before he’d get the chance. He whimpered in defeat as that shameful tongue made circles on his skin and began to suck on it. “Ookami! Stop!” This is bad. if he went to Kakarot tonight, he would see the mark. “I have a meeting tomorrow! I don’t want you marking me for everyone to see!” He dropped the towel and started to struggle in the firm grip.
Ookami stopped for a moment. “But I do.” And he continued his attention on the spot and held his struggling fiancé a little tighter.
The tight grip only made Vegeta panic more. “No! Cut it out!” He decided to chance it and reached an arm back to pull out one of his swords, but his arm was caught by the other and was pinned to his back. “Ah! Damn it!” He arched in his uncomfortable position and tried his other arm, but it was pinned to his side. Vegeta panted in his effort as he continued to struggle. How was he that strong?! Was he training when he wasn’t around? Why was a spoiled, inexperienced noble stronger than him?!
A knock at the door interrupted them. “Master Vegeta? Your parents are here.” A guard on the other side announced.
“Oh, great!” Vegeta was suddenly released and fell to the floor. However, he quickly stood and looked in the mirror to see what the damage was on his neck.
“What a pity. And we were having a bonding moment.” Ookami smirked as he watched his fiancé pick up the towel and wipe at his neck and continued do the same with water. “No matter how much you try, it won’t come off.” Vegeta looked desperately in the mirror as he tried to think of a way to get it off. He suddenly thought of his swords and reached back to pull one out. However, a grip on his arm prevented him from doing so. “Don’t even think about it.” Ookami growled in his ear. Even though the mark was in a vital place, killing himself would’ve been better than having it on his skin.
“Master Vegeta?” The guard hesitantly asked on the other side of Ookami’s room door.
Vegeta growled as he was let go. “I’m coming!”
Ookami sighed and released him again. “I wish.”
Vegeta picked up his wet shirt and inched it back on as he pushed his way past him and left the room with an enraged expression on his face.

*becomes ecstatic at seeing a new (and greatly loved) reviewer* :D I’d reply, but AFF would get on my case. >< But, I will say that you guessed the events that will come to be! X)
I was actually torn between having Vegeta return before his parents found out or after they found out. I went for the latter…obviously. :) It would’ve been kinda boring if he returned without anyone knowing and I didn’t know what else to fill the rest of the chapter with, so I went with that. ^^ Sorry, Veggie. But you’re the star of the show. ;) A twist must be thrown in every now and then…and what kind of an author would I be if I didn’t? I’ll tell you…a boring one, that’s what! >< Okay, now that I’m done talking to myself, I’ll let you all continue reading. :)
