Dragonball: Unforgotten
Chapter One Hundred and Thirteen
You had literally and metaphorically taken a step back after Goten had gotten there. He was their real family after all. Goten hadn’t seen his brother since he left for Namek and he’d only had one day with Goku his whole life. Less than a day really considering that whole Bobidi’s curfuckle. The reunion of father and son was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Goten was concerned about his big brother first which brought a smile to your face but when he jumped onto Goku’s back the image made you twinge. No matter how cute Goten acted, watching him with Goku was like being kicked. Goten was the physical reminder that Goku needed to leave so that he could support his family and be there for them.
The only person that might have noticed your withdrawal was the not-dinosaur man. Piccolo also stood back with his eyes mostly on Gohan as he was concerned about him in particular while Krillin joked around with Goku.
“You know Goku, you should be happy you married someone like Chichi.”
Just hearing her name put an unhappy look on your face. It was at that where you decided to leave the group of them alone for their reunion. Besides you still needed to find a place to set your spaceship-house. With everything that had happened in the icy forest you didn’t think it would be a good place. After all of that destruction there was bound to be someone that came to investigate. Plus you didn’t want to live somewhere that severe. So while they were otherwise engaged you went for a bit of recon.
“Why?”
Krillin laughed. “Because if I came home beat up all the time like you, my wife wouldn't be there to help. She'd just beat me harder.”
Goku’s grin was full of merriment as he laughed with his long time friend. It wasn’t until Gohan turned around when you'd started into the sky, that he noticed you weren't nearby.
"Hey, where's she going?" Goku asked as he carefully put Goten down with his good arm.
Gohan frowned. He had a feeling why you'd decided to leave when you did, unlike his father. You liked to avoid group social situations that had the chance of being laiden with emotion. Not to mention you'd told him that seeing Goku with Goten hurt because it was a reminder of everything that went wrong. Or something like that. The fact that it still hurt you upset Gohan; he understood that it hadn't been that long for you to get over, especially with the way his father had been acting, but still...he couldn't help the way he felt either.
"Maybe she's going to see her family," Goten supplied as he too watched the trail of energy. "Hey! Does that mean there are other aliens on this planet? I want to meet them!"
Goku frowned deeper, matching that of Gohan. He knew that if you wanted to go see your family, not that they had really ever seemed to be a big concern for you to be honest, that you wouldn't fly off. You'd just instant transmit to Yardrats - back to where Broly was apparently. You hadn't done that though. You'd chosen to fly off. Which meant that you were going somewhere else. The most maddening part of it all was the fact that he couldn't sense where you were after he lost sight of you.
He didn't like that feeling. He didn't like that feeling at all.
What was worse was the fact that when he'd tried to take off after you so he could catch up and remedy that, he couldn't. He couldn't summon his energy. Goku sat down on the ground with a hard thump as though all the fight had been taken out of him, a very worried look on his face that everyone in the group noticed right away.
"What's wrong Goku?" Piccolo said.
"I just tried to take off but...I don't think I can fly right now you guys," Goku said seriously.
"What?" Krillin asked with his face covered in shock. "But you've known how to fly for decades!"
Goku only stayed quiet as he looked towards the last spot he'd seen you. He tried to focus; tried to sense you. Because the moment he could it didn't matter if he couldn't fly; he was going to Instant Transmit to you and bring you back. He didn't like the idea that he couldn't see you or sense you to tell if you were okay. He didn't like the fact that you just took off either. Unlike him, when you took off you didn't have the tendency to come back.
Unfortunately that didn't seem to be in the cards for him. "Is everyone hiding their energy?"
Everyone there, including Piccolo, shook their head.
"Awe man, I was hoping you were," Goku let out somewhere between pouting and being completely, deadly serious in a way that only he seemed to pull off. "I can't sense anyone's energies either."
"This is a serious problem," Piccolo said.
"I know! I can't follow Bella if I can't sense her!" Goku said with a very perturbed look on his face.
Gohan, oddly enough, remained quiet. It was a serious problem and he was worried for his father but he wasn't sure what to add to the conversation. Plus he wasn't about to help his father find you given the circumstances.
"Bella?" Krillin asked. "Why would you want to follow her? Did she do something? Do you want me to go after her for you?"
Even though it was a little bit of an empty threat, Krillin meant it in all the best ways.
Goku shook his head with a frown. He asked in a very frustrated but innocent manner: "How am I supposed to take care of her if I can't find her?"
The fact that Goku was not able to use his energy for anything apparently hadn't set in yet. The seriousness of the situation also hadn't quite set in either. He was used to being able to blast anything or just zoom around to his heart's content. Something that he wouldn't be able to do without even the basic energy techniques available to him.
"Why would you need to take care of her Goku?" Krillin asked. "I thought she was Gohan's girlfriend."
"She is," Gohan said as a sort of understanding started to pass over his face.
He looked at his father. He wasn't happy, per say, that his dad was having troubles after the fight. But the dawning realization that Goku wouldn't be able to follow you and him everywhere started to lighten his spirits. Maybe his dad losing his energy for the time being wouldn't be such a bad thing after all!
"No. She doesn't need to date you anymore," Goku said as he looked up to Gohan with an intense look in his eyes as he seemed to understand exactly what Gohan was coming to terms with as he thought about it. "I'm back now. You leave her alone."
Krillin was completely lost in this situation. Still he tried to keep the air lighter than it was becoming. "Is that some rivalry I'm sensing? Goku - what would Chichi say if she found out you were chasing after your son's underage girlfriend?"
"She's not his girlfriend," Goku proclaimed. "She's my wife."
Now that really make Krillin confused. "Wait, say what?"
"Now's not the time for this. With Goku in this state, he's vulnerable," Piccolo pointed out.
"No, no, now's the perfect time," Gohan said as he babied his own wounds for the time being. "Go ahead Dad, why don't you tell them?"
"Tell us what?" Oh poor Krillin, he'd been so out of the loop.
"Mom wants to kill Bella because she is having Dad's baby and marrying big brother!" Goten jumped in happily.
The look on Krillin's face wasn't verbalized but it was clearly understood: "oh fuck."
