Bathroom
Chapter 12: Bathroom
"We’re what?!" Ed exclaimed incredulously.
"You heard me, Fullmetal. We’re locked in."
They both sat in silence, taking in their predicament. Ed turned to face Roy’s profile. "This is all your fault!" Ed yelled, standing up in front of him.
"My fault?!?" Roy demanded angrily, standing up also, not wanting the younger man to look down on him.
"Yes! Your fault Colonel-Bastard! If you would have got out when I told you to, I wouldn’t be stuck in here with you!"
"Oh please! For all I know, you probably planned this."
Ed’s eyes grew wide. "Are you crazy!?"
"I can’t blame you, though. Once you get a little taste of me, it’s hard not to come back."
Ed sputtered, amazed at his arrogance. "Look, Colonel-Bastard. We’re not going to get anywhere by griping at one another. We gotta find a way out."
Roy sighed, reluctant to give up his argument. "Fine. What’s your suggestion, Mr. I-am-the-worlds-best-mechanic?"
"I was kind of hoping…you had an answer to that."
Roy shrugged, heading over to the opposite side of the bathroom to sit down. "We wait."
*********************************************************************
Three hour passed. Well, actually only 30 minutes but it felt like an eternity.
"Do you really have to do that?" Ed asked irritated. Roy had been sitting there across from him, flicking a damn lighter on and off….on and off…..repeatedly. It made him want to grab a cigarette, but they would probably have chocked on he smoke sine there were no windows in the bathroom. If there had been one, they would have opened it and yelled for help so loudly the entire neighbourhood would have called the fire department to save them.
Roy didn’t answer, just paused and looked up at Ed for a moment before continuing.
"Aaaarrgh," Ed cried frustrated. He wanted to snatch the damn thing out of the man’s hands! "And why do you have that thing anyway?" Ed asked him. "It’s not like you smoke."
Roy stopped flicking. "You don’t know that. In fact, there are a lot of things you don’t know about me." *Flick* Roy was really starting to get claustrophobic and unfortunately for Ed, he could be and even bigger asshole when he felt helpless in a situation.
"Like what?" Ed asked, thinking this a good time (well, better than any other day) to start asking some questions about the man who had been tormenting his dreams, appearing as a dark and handsome stranger. Ed figured that if he knew more about the guy, his…he didn’t want to use the word ’infatuation’ or ’crush’…would go away if Roy would reveal something that made Ed repulsed by him. Somehow the fact that Roy was a total asshole and arrogant bastard wasn’t enough to drive the blond away.
Roy chuckled softly, smirking arrogantly. "If you want to know so much about me, Fullmetal, then you should pick up a magazine. You’re bound to find a few articles about me somewhere in there." *Flick*
"Why don’t you just pick up a magazine and wipe that smirk off of your face," Ed mocked angrily under his breath. ‘What a bastard.’
Ed watched as Roy grabbed a tissue paper and lit it, blowing it out before the fire got too big.
"Shit Mustang, you really must be bored."
Roy glanced up at him but didn’t respond to Ed’s sarcastic remark. He watched as Ed sighed and crossed his arms over his chest. Roy’s gaze was captured when the blond huffed, pushing his chest out and pouting his lips. The younger man really didn’t know what that did to him. Roy soon became aware of the scorching heat that so suddenly surrounded his fingers.
"Shit!" he exclaimed, quickly racing towards the sink to put out the burning tissue paper. He set it in the sink and twisted the knobs to the faucet. He panicked when they just squeaked, refusing to let out any liquid.
"Quit messing around and put that out," Ed said, almost absently. Roy grabbed the tissue by the only part that wasn’t engulfed with flames, but the fire was going so fast that he had to drop it. It fell right onto the small rug, and Ed and Roy watched in horror as the fire spread across the small mat.
"Holy hell!" Ed cursed in panic, but then calmed himself down. ‘No use panicking, Ed.’ He raced to the bathtub and tried to twist the knobs. To his dismay, they wouldn’t budge.
"Roy….come help me!" He yelled with difficulty because the smoke was becoming thick. Roy ran over to him, jumping into the tub for leverage, and twisted the knobs. Ed sighed delighted when water began to pour out.
"Don’t just stand there, Fullmetal! Help me put this thing in there!"
Ed complied, helping Roy pick up the burning rug and quickly throw it into the tub. They sighed with relief when the fire was put out. But Ed’s relief quickly turned to anger. He turned to Roy.
"Look at the mess you almost got us into you damn idiot!"
Roy rolled his in exasperation. He was tired of this blond blaming everything on him. Okay…so maybe it was his fault, but damn! Give a guy a break!
"Oh, can it. I’m not in the mood for your bitching."
"Oh yeah, I forgot. If it’s not praising you, then it’s not worth listening to."
"Finally. You understand." Roy said seriously.
"You are just impossible!" Ed yelled above the roar of water that was steadily filling the tub.
"I’m impossible?" Roy asked, not really expecting an answer.
"Yes! Impossible! You strut around, throwing arrogant insults out, and then expect everyone to flatter you."
"And your point is?"
Ed shook his head in frustration. "You know what, Colo—" but the words died in his throat when water began to seep into his shoes.
"What the hell?" Roy said confused as he looked down at his own wet shoes.
The tub had overfilled, pouring water onto the bathroom floor. "Oh great. Just what I need," Ed said, hastily reaching for the handles to turn it off. As he reached over he lost his footing, and slipped on the slick ground. He screamed, reaching out to grasp Roy, pulling the older man with him into the tub in the process.
Roy quickly spun himself around midair, allowing Ed to fall on top of him. Water splashed onto the bathroom floor as the two bodies hit the water. Roy struggled to get air as Ed’s body weight held him under.
He pushed Ed off angrily. "Great!" He yelled sarcastically when he caught his breath. "Now, not only am I stuck in here with you, but now I’m fucking soaked!" He spat at the blond with rage as he turned off the faucet. The sound of the drain guzzling down water could be heard.
"Get a grip, Roy," Ed said, pulling himself up. "I slipped, okay? It was an accident."
Roy stood up also, trying not to notice the way Ed’s clothes clung to him. That white, wet t-shirt and blue jeans were leaving absolutely nothing to the imagination and right now was not the time.
He attempted to step out of the tub only to slip, kicking Ed’s legs out from under the blond and landing on top of the younger man. The two hit the water once again. Ed thrashed about once more to get up, only to be entangled by a mass of limbs. He sighed in frustration and gave up, sitting his head against the back of the tub.
Above him, Roy was panting with exhaustion. How fucking hard was it to get out of a damn tub?
They both looked up when the bathroom door opened.
"Geez you guys," Havoc said, entering. His belt was already unbuckled, indicating that he really had to go. "I know public places are fun and all, but please, for the sake of everyone else…get a room?!"
Ed blushed, taking in their position. He was lying down with his legs parted and Roy in between his thighs. His face grew even redder when he felt a certain hardness prodding at his leg. He quickly pushed Roy off of him, carefully pulling himself out of the tub. Roy followed behind him.
"Not even three weeks down the line and already you guys are humping like bunnies," Havoc joked.
"Shut up, Jean," Roy demanded no trace of humour in his voice.
"Ay, ay, Colonel," Havoc mock saluted as he walked to the toilet. "Hey and don’t forget to close the door on your way out!" Havoc called as Ed and Roy left the room.
**********************************************************************
"Where’ve you guys been?" Winry asked as the two made their way down the stairs.
"And why the hell are you dripping?" Jenny demanded, running to Roy’s side.
Ed shook his head. "Don’t ask." He turned to Hughes. "And fix that damn bathroom door. I think Havoc’s stuck in there. Someone should get him soon." He grabbed Al’s arm, pulling him towards the front door, Scar following the brother’s.
"Where you guys goin’?" Winry yelled after them.
"Nowhere. We’ll meet you guys up at the drags!" Ed yelled back.
***********************************************************************
"What was that all about?" Scar asked, taking the wheel as Ed twisted his hair to get the water out before stepping into the backseat of the car.
"Nothing. Just had to get out of there. I’m so damn frustrated with that guy!" Ed growled, massaging his aching temples.
”What happened brother?” Al asked concerned, sitting next to his brother.
”Nothing Al, and…something. I’ll tell you later.” Ed mumbled, leaning back in his seat, closing his eyes, hoping for a quiet drive home.
”You said you would meet them at the drags. Are you racing brother?” Ed heard the anger in Al’s voice, knowing fully well his younger brother and he may have shared the passion for mechanics and cars, but the younger Elric disapproved of Ed’s illegal racing.
”Not now Al,” Ed said but he knew he was in for a scolding.
”Those people, are they street racers? Brother, those people are criminals!”
”Oh really?” Ed said with a hint of anger in his own voice. ”Then I’m a criminal as well. They are good people Al. I thought you liked them!”
”I did. I mean, I do but…” Al grew quiet, the air tense in the car. Scar nodded, knowing exactly how they felt.
"Too bad it’s not that easy. A child who steals candy isn’t a thief, after all. It’s hard to draw the line, differing who are the good guys and who are the bad ones. I myself can’t see any of these guys as criminals. Except for Mustang, that is."
Ed’s eyebrows quirked. "And why is that?"
"He’s just not such a great person to know. Drugs, car thefts. Do I need to go on?"
Ed raised his eyebrows. "How do you know?" he asked, trying to be nonchalant. Somehow he felt the urge to yell and shout, defending Roy even though he had to admit he didn’t know much about the man.
Scar sighed heavily, indicating that he was going to tell them something important. "Well, as you know, before I became a cop, I was on the other side of the fence. Selling drugs, breaking and entering, etcetera. During that time, I became quite acquainted with Mustang. This was before he was into the whole drag racing scene."
Ed’s eyes widened. "You never told me this."
"There was never a reason to. We were good friends actually. That was until I had a change of heart. My older brother started really pushing me. Telling me I could become something way better. So I focused on my goals and this is where I ended up."
"So, you hate Mr. Mustang. Why?" Al asked, his gaze briefly flickering over at his older brother who was all ears.
"I told you, right? Drug bust a few years back. It was brutal. He would’ve faced a minimum of 5 years in the big house had the charges not been dropped."
"Oh, yeah?" Ed inquired surprised. "What happened?"
"Well, either he was innocent, or he has friends in high places."
"Let me guess. You opt for the latter?"
"Can you blame me, Edward?"
Now Ed could understand the hated looks that the men had exchanged every time Scar followed Ed to meet the crew. He thought it was just an over surging of testosterone or that a street racer could smell out a cop. But now he realized it went much deeper. "I just want to know what you have against the guy. Not that I’m on his side or anything."
"You don’t understand Edward. I can still remember arresting him and bringing him in. I can tell he hates my guts for it. He thought I had doubled crossed him. It’s never easy with him, remember that Edward."
Ed nodded. He already knew that.
***********************************************************************
"Roy, you don’t even know him!" Jenny turned red in a mixture of her anger and frustration over Roy’s refusal to answer her, only concentrating on the road. "For all you know, he could be working with that fucking cop! You just got the job as boss a year ago. No use in fucking that up!"
"And if he just so happens to be working with the cop?!" Roy asked, his anger finally bursting. "I don’t have anything to hide! Do you have anything to hide Jenny? Jean?"
The guy in the back seat shrugged, not wanting to be dragged into the mess.
"Look, Roy. All I’m saying is that you can’t trust someone just ‘cause he has a pretty face! You don’t know the punk. He hasn’t been around like the rest of us. You’ve known Hawkeye, Hughes and my brother since you were brats, and the rest of us you’ve known since high school. You can trust us."
"Listen, Jenny. I’m tired of your dumb little jealousy antics. Fullmetal works for me. I couldn’t care less for him. And for the record, I’m not tied down to you or to anyone else. I can do whatever I damn well please."
"That’s not what you said when you were screwing my brains out."
Roy breathed a sigh of frustration. When was this woman going to realize that she was only a release for his horniness? Alright, so maybe it was wrong, but didn’t someone know when they were just a booty call?
"He works for me. That’s it."
The rest of the drive went on in silence.
