Chapter 13


Duo and Heero where heading for the puppy shop that was an hour out of town, they knew the puppy place got in registered pre bread dogs. Actually Duo did research to make sure they didn’t come from puppy factories. Duo also read an add in the paper for the place saying they just had a littler of germen shepherd pups. Which was three days ago they planned to go on the weekend which was a nice Saturday afternoon.

Duo was driving again like always, Xanatos was sitting in the back Heero had to sit back with him so he didn’t fuss too much. “I am so excited,” Duo proclaimed as he was driving sixty five miles an hour down the highway. “I know I really want a boy dog.” Duo added, once again he was dressed in his priest outfit. He decided to start wearing it again more after that one guy made a big deal about it. Plus he did wear it to remember Father Maxwell the garments were special to him.

“Alright Duo,” Heero said from the back behind the passenger seat, “I might get us two puppies you know germen shepherds need play mates and a lot of room to run around.” Heero reminded him.

“Oh well, we can get two then I don’t mind more the merrier as I always say, I love doggies” Duo said giving a goofy giggle that only Quatre and Heero had ever been witness too. It never failed it made both of them laugh when he did it.

Heero shook his head, “You’re a goof ball Duo,” Heero said with a smirk on his face and looked up at his husband’s eyes through the review mirror.

“Why thank you,” Duo said wiggling his eye brows then looked back onto the road/ “I can’t believe we are going to have puppies, puppies, puppies, PUPPIES!” Duo honked the horn in his happiness. “Woops,” Duo laughed, “I so did not mean to do that Heero.”

Xanatos just laughed from the back seat feeling his mother’s extremely good energy, he waved his little fists around looking up at Heero. Heero smiled at his son. “I know baby your mother is so silly.” Heero said and tickled his tiny chin he bent down and kissed him on the cheek.

They finally arrive at the puppy shop which Duo had to turn down a long dirt road to get too. Though there was two huge clean signs in the front on either side. That Said Per Bread Puppy shop and it had cute pictures of Puppies on it. On either side of the dirt road was large green lawn with fences around it. Duo drove through the gate and parked in the little gravel parking area where some small crabapple sapling grew tall enough to make good shade. It was a hot spring afternoon.

The puppy shop was behind where Duo parked it was a two story black and blue brick building with large front windows. There was a nice black stone pathway that lead up to the blue door with small glass windows in it. On either side of the door sat two large stone dogs that looked like great Danes. On the other side of the fence was grown female dogs that looked very healthy and spunky. There was golden retrievers, black labs ,germen shepherds and golden labs. Then on the other side were smaller female dogs like Pugs, Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, Shitzu and Jack Russell Terriers.

Duo took the key out of the slot and unbuckled and pushed open the door and hoped out. Heero had already gotten out and had Xanatos on his shoulder. Duo shut his door and walked around the car and walked with Heero up to the door. Duo had taken Heero’s hand and swung it back and forth.

The dogs barked excitedly at Duo and Heero from the other side of the fence, “Awww they are so cute and loud” Duo called over the barking dogs as he enters into the doggie shop where the puppies that were ready to leave their mothers are kept. They were in glass cases that people could reach their hand over the top of and pet them if they so wished.

“Yeah they sure are,” Heero answered as they came into the puppy shop as they did this. The puppies all started yapping just as excitedly.

Duo was drawn right away to the germen shepherd case that was in the center of the room. Not hard to miss at all. The counter was to the left hand side of the room there was a lady and a man were sitting behind it. The man came out from behind the counter. He looked to be in his mid thirties with black short hair and black eyes and kind of handsome. “Hello is there something we can help you with?” He wondered in a friendly tone to Duo who had reached his hand in only to get it pretty much licked to death by eight week old puppies.

Duo looked up through his bangs at the man, “oh yes you can, we would like to buy two of your germen shepherd puppies. We called three days ago made an appointment our names are under Yuy.” Duo told him the women behind the counter flipped open the seclude book from under the desk area.

She had blonde hair back in a pony tail and big red lips and blue eyes, “Oh yup the Yuys” She couldn’t believe the one speaking was actually a guy with how curvy they were. She twitched her lip some, looking back and forth from Duo to Heero. Then she noted the baby as well what kind of fucked up deal did they have going on she thought.

“Yup that is us, so anyways” Duo said and picked up two of the wiggly pups, who licked Duo under his chin. “Which ones can we pick?” He wondered happily looking up at the man.

“Well if you like you can spend some time with all of them and find out who you connected with the most.” The man answered Duo he looked his body over as well and wondered what was up with him wearing the outfit yet he had boobs and a braid. Of course made no comments as he wanted to sell dogs not worry about what others did in there personal lives so long as they took care of the puppies or had the means to take care of them.


“Alright that sounds like a lot of fun, where can we do that at?” Duo wondered in a happy tone and waited for the man to answer once again.

The man then led Duo and Heero to a back room where there was a large white tile floor with dog toys littering the floor and a bench to sit on at the far back. There were pictures of past puppies and dogs on the walls. The lights where high florescent lights Heero carried one of the puppies under his arm Duo carried three and the man carried two more. The women seemed like she was glued to the spot acting like she was busy talking on the phone with a customer.

Heero walked over to the bench and sat down and put the puppy on the ground, Duo sat down in the middle of the floor and all the puppies jumped up around him. They licked at his face and yapped playfully. Though one of the puppies ended up taking the end of Duo’s braid and yanking on it.

“AH” Duo cried putting his hand on the back of his head. “No puppy” He said and had to pull the dog in by his braid and pried his teeth off. Then he took a few bobby pins from his hair and twirled his hair up on his head and pinned it so it wouldn’t fall down for now.

The man never saw a boy with such long hair, though he had breasts which was very freaky.“So um you’ll have to fill out uh application form that will allow us to do a background check on you.” The man began, “of course if you pass that then you’ll be able to come back and get the puppy or puppies you picked.”

“Is there any possible way you can just do a background check on the two of us today, we live an hour away I promise Duo we’d get him two puppies today.” Heero said firmly “There was never any mention of a background check on the phone.” Heero added, “It is not fair to tell us this now and waist our time.”

The man blinked and opened his mouth to say more but, Heero had made a very valid point.”Alright fine but you still have to fill out an application that is part of the process.” The man said crossing his arms over his chest.

“No big deal,” Heero said in a clam firm tone “bring me the paper I’ll fill it out,” He said patting his sleeping son on his back.

“Isn’t it him who wants the dog?” The man wondered nodding toward Duo as if he were a thing.

“I am the one buying the dog for Duo, he and I are a joint package.” Heero added getting annoyed with this guy right away.

“Alright,” the man shook his head and walked out of the room quickly. Not liking the look Heero was giving him in the least.

Duo rolled his eyes, “Damn what is wrong with everyone they act like I got the plague.” Duo muttered then smiled as one of the puppies licked his face he was a cute black and brown pup then there was an all black one Duo really liked as well they had blue eyes. He picked these two up and walked over to Heero and sat down, “What do you think of these two?” Duo wondered the black one reached over and gave Xanatos’s head a licking since it was cradled in Heero’s arm closest to the black ones mouth then licked up Heero’s bare arm.

Heero smiled “I love them,” he said and leaned in and kissed Duo on the lips just as the man walked back into the room.

He gave a gasp of disgusted but tried to cover it up as if he was coughing, “I have your application form.” He said walking over toward Heero.
“Excellent we will take these two puppies,” Heero added, “Duo put them down a moment so you can hold Xanatos.”

“Alright Heero,” Duo said and stood up and set the puppies down at his feet they both stayed near him. He took the baby and set him over his shoulder Xanatos picked up some of the fabric on Duo’s shirt and put it into his mouth. “Uh oh, your getting hungry aren’t you baby?” Duo sighed as Xanatos made a loud suckling sound on his shirt.

“I am going to go out to the car and nurse him while you fill that out ok?” Duo wondered to Heero who had taken the papers and sat down and started to fill it out.
“Alright Duo,” Heero said not looking up from filling out the form wanting to make this as fast as he possible now.

Duo then walked around the staring man, “what kind of a priest are you?” he wondered to Duo he couldn’t help but ask.

“I am not a priest, I wear this in honor of a priest,” Duo answered not turning around and opened the door and left. He felt the women glaring at him the whole way he walked out of the puppy shop ignoring her and went to the car and sat down in the front seat. He opened his shirt and pulled open his bra and let the baby suckle he sighed as Xanatos nursed. “Don’t let anyone ever make you feel any less special then you are.” Duo said to his son, “Just cause your different doesn’t make stupid normal humans better then you.” Duo said stroking his son on his soft head as Xanatos looked up at him the whole time he spoke.

Duo returned ten minutes later, Xanatos was now sleeping soundly in the baby pouch. Heero was standing at the counter he had two puppy carriers with the puppies inside. He had already paid the lady. They had bought all of the pet supplies the day before so they wouldn’t have to worry about it.

The lady at the counter glared as Duo entered the building again, “actually I changed my mind, Bill I don’t want to sell the puppies to transvestites and fags!” It was like she couldn’t help but let this burst out.

“To late lady you already made the sale,” Heero said she put her hands on the carriers and pulled them toward her on the counter.

“No I refuses, give them their money back, I refuse to sell to a mockery to the catholic church!” She added fiercely her blue eyes glaring coldly at Duo and his outfit and his large breasts that could still be seen through the shirt even if it was a bit baggy.

“Lady let go of the puppies you sold them to us we don’t want the money back, just let us have the puppies you’ll never have to see us or worry again.” Heero told her in a very clam tone though Duo could tell the danger levels in his voice were rising.

“Really Deb let them have the puppies they are theirs now all sales are final anyways.” Bill said firmly, “Even if you don’t like it you can’t keep them from taking the puppies that is discrimination.” Bill added “So remove your hands at once or you’ll be fired.”

“Fine then I quiet I refuse to work for a place that sells anything to fags!” Deb bellowed and slid off her stole and took off her apron and threw it in Bill’s face. She marched out from around the counter. Still glaring daggers at Duo she marched toward him with fists clinched. “This is all your fault I got fired!” She shouted like a mental bitch and brought her hand back to slap Duo. “You low life dirty piece of trash!”

Before Duo or Deb could make anymore moves Heero grabbed her wrist and then took a hand full of her hair and drug her toward the door kicking and screaming. He didn’t even say a word he kicked open the door and tossed her out on her face she slid across the gravel with a cry. Heero then walked back into the store and took the puppies and glared at the man who backed up.

“I am really sorry,” he said in a scared high pitched tone with his hands up in defense.

Heero and Duo left the building without a word Duo looked a little upset by all the events that had unfolded. Duo put Xanatos back in the car seat he didn’t really know how to feel after all that had happened. Heero put the puppies on the floor in the back seat. Duo sat down in the front passenger seat. Heero got in the driver’s seat and nearly ran the girl over who was still laying there and blew a lot of dust and rocks up into her face. He sped off out of the puppy shop back toward home.

“Duo, don’t let that dumb bitch get to you,” Heero said as he drove across the highway going about eighty eight miles an hour. He was gripping the steering wheel pretty firmly.

“Maybe you shouldn’t let her get to you either,” Duo reminded him watching the speed gage go up.

“I am sorry but it is just… we were wanting to have a fun day getting puppies and some stupid moron has to go and ruin it.” Heero huffed as he came to the exit to the high way that would take them home.

“Well we can still enjoy the rest of the day can’t we, we still have to name them and potty train them and feed them there first meal. Its going to be fun Heero we got our new babies and we will just focus on that alright?” Duo said calmly and gave Heero a flicker of a smile.

Heero reached over and took Duo by the hand and kissed it, “yeah your very right Duo, its just I am getting pissed, I am trying to find Wufei so far he has all but vanished out of the face of the solar system it seems.”

Duo nodded, “I see,” he said and watched the world go by quickly he noted Heero and put the speed up to ninety miles an hour. “Heero pull over and let me drive my gods your speeding way to fast.” Duo said putting his hands to his head freaking out, “we have puppies and a baby we’d be in so much trouble if we got pulled over!”

Heero nodded and turned on the blinkers and pulled over to the side of the road he slowed down and put the car in park. Duo and Heero switched sides and Duo buckled his seat belt and drove them the rest of the way home at a more moderate pace.

Before they got home they went through a drive through and Duo and Heero ordered themselves two cheese burgers a piece two large fries. Duo got himself a chocolate milkshake Heero got himself one as well. They pulled out of the drive through once they got there hot food Duo was seeming to be more hungry in this pregnancy already. Heero opened the bag and handed Duo some of the warm fries.

Duo munched down into them as he drove, still managing to keep the car steady. “Hmm I am feeling better already, nothing better to sooth the soul then with fries and a cheese burger huh Heero?” Duo smirked with the fries wiggling out of his mouth he looked over at Heero who had opened one of the cheese burgers and munched into it.

“Yes,” Heero nodded in agreement then offered the cheese burger to Duo who took it and bit into it. While Duo did that Heero ate more of the fries then picked up his milk shake and sipped some of that he didn’t get why fast food clammed him down but it sure did. At least it was tasty he thought though he knew it wasn’t healthy Duo always seemed to love it and he could see why now.

“Mmmm, beef” Duo said licking his lips “Beef from a fast food place even and a good fast food place not some shitty joint with nasty burgers that leave your gut feeling like it went through the ringer you know.” Duo said and offered the cheese burger back to Heero who gave Duo some more fries. Heero took the cheese burger and bit into it and nodded then picked up some fries and ate those.

Heero watched the world outside go by. His thoughts started to drift off again toward Wufei and how much he really wanted to kill him. He hoped he could find him soon though he wasn’t sure now how easy it was going to be. Normally he and Trowa where excellent trackers but Wufei was like them and knew how to turn invisible.

Duo and Heero finally got home and Duo took Xanatos into the house and laid him up in his crib to sleep. Heero took the puppies out of the car and around the back so they could use the restroom before he took them inside.
As Heero took the puppies out he noticed a car had been sitting on edge of the street it was an old car. He had never seen it before, though he made no indication he noticed he went to the back yard with a frown wondering what was up with the car.

He sat down on the back porch and opened the carriers and let the puppies out and they wagged their tails and sniffed around in the grass. Heero then stood up and unlocked the back door “Duo,” He called softly hearing him coming down the steps he was in the kitchen but Duo could still hear him easily.

Duo peeked his head into the kitchen, “yes Heero?” He wondered blinking his big violet eyes.

“Bring me my hand held computer, I need to check something,” Heero said and turned around and went out the door to watch the puppies exploring also watched as they relieved themselves.

Duo returned shortly with the computer and sat down next to Heero he had locked the front door and took the baby monitor with him. Heero made the satellite he had programmed on this city zoom in toward the car next to the stop sign. Duo watched this as well, “Hmm,” he said softly. “Who do you think they are do you think they are after us?”

“Well normally when anyone, is after anyone it is normally us Duo,” Heero said and took pictures of the men’s faces and sent them to headquarters of the preventers they ran background checks on the two men in the car.

Duo walked over to the puppies and picked them up as Heero did this and he looked at the cute little bundles of fur who licked his cheek. “I think the black one will be named Ace,” Duo said happily.

Heero looked up at the black one and nodded “Ace is a good name for him” He said then looked back at the computer. “I think the other puppies name should be,” He actually set the handled computer down for a minute and took the puppy. Who licked him on the face Heero rubbed him on his head. “Aries,” Heero nodded, “I like it, a good strong name” Heero said and set Aries down then picked up the computer as the status of the men started running across the screen.

“Aries that is a good name I like it,” Duo said and patted Aries on the head who licked him on the hand.
“Well those men seem to be part of a gay hate crime organization so I’d say they are after us,” Heero said darkly. “Well not for long,” Heero said and turned off the computer he shut the lid.
“What are you going to do?” Duo wondered blinking as Heero stood up and picked Aries up.
“I am not going to do anything I am going to spend my free time with you and the puppies. I just sent some men to take care of it.” He walked to the back door and Duo smiled holding Ace still and they came into the back door together. Duo and Heero then fed the two puppies in the kitchen and Heero hugged Duo while they watched Duo lay his head on Heero’s chest and smiled.

“Well alright then that sounds pretty awesome then, Ace and Aries?” Duo wondered Ace gave Duo a cute little yapping then went back to eating. Duo chuckled he was so happy to have his puppies and was glad Heero was there. He probably never would have noticed something like that damn Heero was good. Though too bad he couldn’t find Wufei yet, he knew he would it was only a matter of time. “I love you Heero,” he said looking up at Heero with his lips inches from his.

“I love you to Duo,” Heero said and closed his lips around Duo’s and massaged down his back. Duo felt like he was falling for Heero all over again with this kiss. He wondered what the next day would bring. He wondered what his next baby would be like though Xanatos still had a while to go he was still so tiny. He thought all of this after he broke the kiss and rested his head on Heero’s chest again and watched the puppies sniffing around the kitchen now.
