“What is it with you and libraries?” Wufei asked breathlessly as Trowa pushed him against the wall, attacking his neck.
He sucked Wufei's earlobe between his lips. “It pisses Wiggins off.”
Wufei half-laughed, half-moaned. “Are you serious?”
He pulled his lips away as he cupped his hands to Wufei's bottom, massaging the firm muscles. “Yes, it does piss her off. But I do it more because it's like your natural habitat and you always look so sexy when you get caught up reading.”
He blushed. “I'm not sexy.”
He snorted. “And most of the school would disagree with that statement.” He kissed him softly and pulled away, taking his hand. Wufei spared a glance to the glaring librarian as they left. It confused him. Why did the woman care about his sex life or choice of friends?
He shivered as they stepped out into the cold and pulled his coat tighter. Trowa put and arm around his shoulders and held him close. Wufei smiled briefly before looking up to the overcast sky. “I really hope it doesn't rain. There's very little I hate worse than cold rain.”
“Christmas is coming soon. What would you like?”
Wufei frowned. “I don't know. We never celebrated Christmas.”
“What holidays do you celebrate?”
He shook his head. “None. My father doesn't celebrate anything except for a well executed business venture.”
Trowa opened the door to the dorms and Wufei stepped inside, grateful for the heat. “What do you want?”
He wrapped his arms around the small Asian. “I already have everything I want.”
He snorted. “That was cheesy.”
“Doesn't change the fact it's true.”
Duo came bouncing out of the stairwell, Quatre in tow. “I've been lookin' for you guys everywhere.”
“What's up?”
“We were heading to America's Incredible Pizza Company. Wanna come?”
Wufei's eyes lit up. “Pizza?”
“And a whole lot more. It's like Chuck E. Cheese, but it has a lot more.”
Wufei looked to Trowa hopefully and he smiled. “Sounds like fun.”
“Can we take the Jag?”
Wufei nodded and pulled out his keys. “Yeah, but I'm driving.” Duo pouted and Wufei rolled his eyes. “I haven't driven her in weeks,” he pointed out.
Duo sighed. “All right. I guess you have a point.”
Wufei snorted. “You guess?”
He grinned. “Yeah. Come on.” He shoved the couple back outside and Quatre shook his head.
“Sometimes you're such a kid.”
Wufei followed Duo's directions to the large blue building and parked. “There's a lot of people here.”
“Yeah, I figured there would be.”
Wufei set the alarm on the Jaguar and followed them into the place, which was much bigger inside than he'd realized. He looked around at all the games. The noise level was high as people talked, cheered, and laughed.
“What would you like to do first?” Trowa leaned over to whisper into his ear.
“I don't know. There's so much stuff.”
Duo didn't give him a chance to choose as he dragged all of them to the go-karts. After Quatre won the race, they moved to the video games. Duo challenged Wufei to a game and Trowa and Quatre watched as the Asian effectively kicked the American's butt. The Chinese man wore a big grin as he defeated Duo and looked to Trowa. The grin dimmed to a soft smile when he saw Trowa watching him. His boyfriend took his hand and pulled him from the game.
“Where are we going?”
Trowa didn't answer and Wufei frowned in confusion as he was pulled into the bathroom. Trowa pressed him to the wall and captured his lips. Wufei didn't bother protesting, he simply folded his arms over Trowa's shoulders and opened his lips in invitation. The kiss lasted for several minutes before Trowa pulled back.
“What was that for?”
“It's hard for me to keep my hands off you for very long.”
Wufei smiled even as he blushed. It was difficult for him, too. He pulled Trowa back down and the taller man groaned. He was very much enjoying his lover's new found boldness.
“Aw, come on guys, you can make out later.”
Duo was completely ignored so he used the urinal, washed his hands, and left. Trowa pressed his leg between Wufei's thigh and the Chinese man moaned, rocking against him. Wufei slid his hands down to grip Trowa's backside, pulling him closer so his length pressed into his stomach.
Trowa groaned softly and lifted from the kiss to gaze down into exotic obsidian eyes. Wufei licked his lips before pressing them to Trowa's neck. He tilted his head to the side, eyes slipping closed. If they didn't stop soon, he wasn't sure he'd be able to.
“Wufei, as much as I hate to say this, we need to stop.”
“You're the one that started it.” He sucked hard on the juncture between Trowa's neck and shoulder, pulling a gasp from him. He smirked and removed his lips and hands from the other. “But you're right.”
“And you're evil.”
He laughed and pulled his lover from the bathroom. “It's just a prelude for when we get back to the dorms.”
Trowa chuckled. “What next?”
“Bowling.”
“I didn't know you liked bowling.”
He paused. “Well, I don't know if I do. I've never bowled before.” He bit his lip and looked up to Trowa. “Um, do you like it?”
Even if he didn't, Trowa would have said yes. There was no way he'd keep Wufei from something new he wanted to try. But, fortunately, he did like it. “Yeah, I do. Come on.”
He walked with Wufei to the bowling area. They got shoes and a lane. “Okay, first thing you need to do is test balls for the right weight.”
He nodded and lifted several of the balls, finally settling on one. He glance to Trowa who'd already picked one. He moved to the lane and Trowa directed for him to set the ball down. The taller man picked up his own.
“All right, I'm sure you know the basics, but I'll go over them anyway. Basically, you try to knock them all down at once, that's a strike. If it takes two tries, that's a spare. You still get points if you don't knock all of them, but you get more if you do. Got it?”
Wufei nodded and watched Trowa as he took the first turn. Getting a strike. Wufei lifted his bowling ball and looked to Trowa. “Don't I get a pointer or two?”
The older man laughed softly and stood behind Wufei, grasping his wrist and lifting it up. “Basically, you study the line you want and aim for that. On the first throw, try not to put too much spin on it. Aim to roll it down the second line from the middle.” He stepped back.
Wufei did as directed and watched as the ball went straight for the gutter. “What'd I do wrong?”
“Too much spin. You get a second try.”
He nodded, waited for his ball to come back, and took a breath as he tried again. All the pins fell and he cheered, as did Trowa. In the end, Trowa won, but not by much.”
“You're a fast learner,” Trowa commented. “After some practice, you'll be near impossible to beat.”
After a game of mini-golf, which Wufei won, many more arcade games, and, of course, tons of pizza, the four decided to call it a night.
“I still say you cheated.”
Wufei raised an eyebrow as he looked in the rearview. “Why is it that every time you lose, you claim the winner cheated?”
He shrugged. “I can't admit I suck.”
Quatre smiled. “But you do, and very well, I must admit.”
“Oh? Is that a request?”
“Hey!” Wufei protested. “No sex in the Jag!”
Trowa chuckled as Wufei parked and unhooked his seatbelt. He grabbed Wufei's wrist and tugged him over for a kiss. Wufei moaned softly as Trowa's tongue caressed his own. He turned to his knees, bracing one hand on the back of the seat and the other on Trowa's thigh.
The door was suddenly opened and Wufei yelped as he was yanked out. He barely had time to recognize who had a hold of him before a solid punch landed to his jaw, sending him to the ground. He shook his head to clear it and grunted when a kick caught him in his ribs.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“This is no concern of yours.”
“The hell it isn't!”
Wufei rolled to his knees, coughing. “Stay back, Trowa.” He pushed to his feet painfully. “What was that for, Father?”
Shan clenched his teeth. “You disrespectful bastard.”
Wufei's eyes widened and he fell back a step. His father was pissed. He'd never seen him show his anger like he was now. Shan grabbed the collar of his shirt and sent a knee into his son's gut. Wufei crumbled to his knees, holding his arms over his stomach.
“I sent you here to show you how good you had it. Not to play bitch to some thug. I was sure Wiggins was wrong when she called me. But, apparently, she wasn't.”
He looked over to the other three who were glaring at Shan and looked ready to jump. “Stay out of it.” He pushed to his feet, ignoring the pain as his father took his beginning stance.
“That's always your answer when something doesn't go your way, isn't it? You can't talk like a civil human being. Just beat them into submission.”
Shan snarled and flew at his son. Wufei managed to block most of the blows and Shan somewhat surprised that the boy was putting his all into the fight. Unfortunately for Wufei, he had his mother's genes and not his father's. As with most people, Shan easily outweighed Wufei and the smaller Asian found himself losing ground.
After another vicious kick to the ribs, Wufei went down and rolled to his side as he gasped shallowly for breath. He whimpered softly and Trowa, Duo, and Quatre surrounded him. He clenched Trowa's arm tightly and tried to push up to a sitting position.
“What the hell kinda man would do this to his own son?” Duo spat as he glared at Shan.
“The kind who expects his son to behave. Perhaps if your parents had done the same, you would not be the degenerate you are.” He moved his gaze back to Wufei. “Pack your things and return home tonight.” He turned on his heel.
Trowa helped Wufei to sit up and the Asian leaned against him. “No.”
Shan froze and looked to his son through narrowed eyes. “Excuse me?”
He licked his lips, gripping Trowa's hand. “I'm staying here.”
“No, you're not. I won't have you disgracing the family further.”
“You can't force me...” his voice hitched as he took too deep a breath and pain laced through his side, “to go back.”
Shan ground his teeth. “If you don't come home now, don't bother ever coming back.”
Wufei's brows drew together. “Why did the librarian report to you?”
“I got her the job here, so she could keep an eye on you. I knew with your obsession with books that you'd be there a lot.”
He shook his head, disgusted with the man who had sired him. “Goodbye, Father.”
He stared at him for a moment before leaving without another word. Wufei closed his eyes. He supposed most sons would be sad to be written off by their father, and part of him regretted the relationship he didn't have with the man. But more than anything else, he felt relief.
“Couldn't he take away your college?”
He looked to Duo. “My grandfather left me a trust fund. It won't last forever, but it is more than enough to cover college.” He gripped his side, feeling nauseous and dizzy from the pain. “Trowa, I think they're broken. It feels the same as it did last time.”
Quatre pulled out his cell and called 911. Trowa shook his head. “Why didn't you let us stop him?”
“It was between him and me, and I didn't want you hurt.”
******
Zechs sighed softly as Heero spooned behind him, running soft caresses over his bare chest and laying kisses to his shoulder. They'd already gone two rounds and showered. Both were tired and Zechs didn't see them having a third round, but the soft touches were nice.
Heero's arm moved to drape over his waist and he pulled them tighter together. “I think we should drop one of our rooms.”
“Would they let us both stay in a single?”
“Hm. I don't know.” He nuzzled his nose in blond locks. “Or we could just get an apartment. I think there's a vacancy in Quatre's building.”
Zechs eyes slit open and he looked over his shoulder. Sharing a dorm room was one thing, an apartment meant something a little more permanent. “You want to move in together?”
“Yeah.” He frowned and glanced to the window. “Are those sirens?”
Zechs listened. “Yeah. And they're coming closer.”
They pushed from the bed and looked out the window. “Oh hell!” Heero ran from the room, Zechs on his heels. They reached the three as the paramedics began working on Wufei and a cop was asking them questions.
“What happened?”
“His dad beat the hell out of him,” Duo growled.
The cop frowned. “Why didn't you help him?”
“Wufei wouldn't let us,” Quatre answered. He looked to the police man. “He said it was between the two of them.”
All eyes turned to the Asian, who appeared even smaller as medical devices and bandages were applied.
Trowa held his keys out, not caring who drove, but knowing he couldn't in his present state. “Someone get us to the hospital.”
Trowa stared out the window as they drove to the hospital. He kept his mind blank, refusing to explore the possibilities of what would or wouldn't happen. When they reached the hospital, he sat in the waiting room and dropped his face to his hands, letting the others deal with the cops. He looked up as the doctor came in and Quatre put a hand on his shoulder.
“How is he?” Duo asked.
“Two of his ribs are broken and he has severe bruising to his abdomen, but I believe he will make a full recovery.”
“Can I see him?”
He nodded and lead them into the emergency room. “We'll be keeping him overnight for observation, just in case there is any internal bleeding that we haven't caught yet,” he said as they stopped outside the room. “A nurse will come soon to move him.”
Trowa barely heard him as he pushed into the room. The others held back to give them a minute alone. He sat in a chair by the bed, taking in his lover's bruised face. Obsidian eyes slit open and he took his hand. “Hey.”
Wufei smiled weakly. “Hey. I'm gonna be all right,” he whispered, breathing shallowly.
“That's what the doctor said.” He didn't know what else to say.
Wufei pulled his hand to his lips and kissed his knuckles. “Trowa, don't be mad at me.”
“I'm not. I just... you should have let us stop him before he broke your ribs.”
He sighed. “I already told you, he would have hurt you. It was my fight.”
Trowa grunted and leaned down to lay his forehead against Wufei's shoulder. Wufei closed his eyes and laid his cheek to the top of his lover's head.
Quatre peeked into the room. “Can we come in?”
Wufei looked over. “Of course.”
The other four came in, followed by a policeman. “I need you to answer a few questions.”
Wufei stared at the man for a long moment. “I'm not pressing charges.”
The cop frowned. “I've been informed that this isn't the first time he's put you in the hospital.”
He nodded. “That's right, but it is the last. I never want to see him again, and I won't if it doesn't go to court. It's over.” He shook his head. “I'm free. That's enough.”
He sighed and held out a card with his number. “If you change your mind, give me a call.”
Wufei took it, but he knew he wouldn't change his mind. After he left, Wufei looked to the others. “It's late. Why don't you guys go back to the dorms?”
Quatre put his hand to his shoulder. “We'll wait till they put you in a room.”
“How many times has he put you in the hospital?”
Wufei looked to Heero. “This makes the fifth time.”
“What were your injuries?”
He looked down to the sheets. “The first time was a broken arm, the next were my ribs. Then it was a concussion and internal bleeding, another broken arm, and now.”
He closed his eyes. He was tired and had refused heavy narcotics, so he was in a considerable amount of pain in his side and stomach. His lips curved up slightly as he felt gentle fingers running through his hair and looked up to Trowa. There was still worry in his deep emerald eyes.
“I'm going to be fine, Trowa.”
“It could have been a lot worse.”
“But it wasn't.”
******
Wufei clenched his teeth as Trowa helped him out of the car. He allowed the taller man to wrap an arm around his waist to support him as they moved up the steps to the dorms. He kept his chin down, ignoring the looks the other students gave him. They came to a stop as Wiggins stepped in front of them at the top of the steps.
He glared at her. “What could you possibly want? Haven't you done enough?”
She shook her head, brows drawn together. “I didn't know he would this.”
Trowa sneered. “You should have known what kind of monster you were working for.”
“I'm sorry.”
Wufei leaned heavily into Trowa, needing to sit down. “Just get out of the way. I don't care if you're sorry. Maybe I will some day, but right now, I just want you to leave me alone.”
She nodded and stepped aside. Wufei was panting for breath by the time they reached his room and Otto jumped up as they entered and helped Trowa get him into bed, propping him up on a mound of pillows.
“Is there anything you need?”
“Something for the pain.”
“I got naproxin and acetaminophen.”
He took slow, deep breaths in through his nose and out his mouth. “Naproxin.”
Otto nodded and moved to his desk. Trowa sat on the edge of the bed and brushed Wufei's hair from his face. Wufei smiled weakly. “If you keep pampering me like this, I'll always expect it.”
Trowa chuckled softly. “You deserve it.”
Otto handed Wufei the medication and a bottle of water and stepped back, watching the pair. He couldn't help but smile. As much as he had been against it in the beginning, it seemed Barton really did care about Wufei. And any fool could see Wufei was crazy for the taller man.
“You make a good couple.” They looked to him with surprise and he shrugged. “What? I'm just saying the truth.” He grabbed his jacket. “I'm heading out. Take care of him, Barton.”
He smirked to Otto. “Always.”
Wufei stared at Trowa as he looked back to him. “Always?”
“Well, as long as you'll let me.”
He smiled and cupped Trowa's cheek, pulling him close for a chaste kiss. Obsidian eyes met emerald. “Always it is then.”
