Goku entered the hut that had been inside of the capsule corp ball and sat down with a sigh. Closed his eyes and wondered how long it would take them to get to their destination. He wanted to be there already, but they had used up all the wishes and it would take another year before the dragon balls were ready. Space travel wasn’t that quick either. So going to the Namek’s planet wouldn’t really help timewise.
This was a situation where he later realized it would have been smart to have at least wished Raditz alive and on Vegetasei, but then there hadn’t been enough wishes. But he could have felt his ki and gotten them there without having to use a spaceship at all.
And if he mentioned that, he knew others might be shocked that he’d thought of it. Sometimes it was best just to keep quiet when he had his epiphanies.
He was drawn from his thoughts when he heard the whoosh sound of a door opening. He opened one eye to peer in the direction of the door.
His tail quivered. “Vegeta!”
Vegeta’s gaze zeroed in on the movement of Goku’s tail.
“Kakarot,” the Alpha growled out between his teeth and held onto the door.
Goku blinked, “Yeah?”
Vegeta closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose with his free hand. “You need to control your tail.”
He tilted his head. “Why? What’d my tail do?”
Vegeta scowled and crossed his arms in front of him upon reopening his eyes. “Your tail just now, that quiver,” he grit his teeth, and turned his head, face flushed, “indicates you are receptive to being mounted.”
Goku blinked, “Huh? Vegeta I’m not a horse.”
Vegeta ran his hand down over his face and growled, “Damn it Kakarot! It means you, as a beta, want to be pushed down and taken.” He glanced in Goku’s direction.
“Taken?”
Vegeta’s jaw clenched, his fangs nearly piercing the flesh of his lips. “Fucked, Kakarot! As in sex.”
Goku’s mouth felt dry and he licked his lips. “Oh.” He reached a hand behind his head and scratched himself. “Hehheh… uhhh…,” he gulped feeling his face grow hot.
Vegeta shook his head and turned. “I’m going to wait outside for Broly to return.”
“Why? Don’t ya wanna stay inside?”
He looked back over his shoulder. “If I stay, I might tear off your clothes and take you.”
Goku’s eyes widened and he gulped. “Ve-vegeta…”
“I know Kakarot. While your body is clearly ready, your mind is not. But your scent and tail language will cloud my judgment. And I refuse to hurt you like that.”
Goku stared down at the floor of the hut, his fists resting on his thighs. It wasn’t that he didn’t want Vegeta, but, and he hated to admit it, he was scared. Not like needle scared, or anything like that. But it was still new and what Vegeta wanted to do to him… he’d never done that before.
He heard footsteps getting closer. Yellow tipped boots appeared in his vision.
A warm hand cupped his chin and tilted his head back.
Vegeta pressed his forehead to his. “I’ll wait as long as you need Kakarot. But please, get control of your tail. Not everyone on Vegetasei will understand that you’re not conscious of your tail language.”
Goku purred, “I-I’ll try.”
Vegeta’s lips ghosted over his and when he went to pull back Goku followed, lifting himself out of his seat to brush his lips over the shorter Saiyan’s.
The Alpha froze. The tip of his own tail quivered.
Goku inhaled the scent of Vegeta’s unique musk. With a sigh against the Alpha’s lips he sat back down.
Vegeta turned around and opened the door leading out onto the small planetoid of Vampa with his swamp and its huge insects.
He hoped they wouldn’t have to eat any more of them. They weren’t exactly tasty, but when one was hungry and it was all that was available, well better than gnawing on one’s own limbs.
“Vegeta?”
The older Saiyan stilled at the door. “Yes, Kakarot?”
“When my, heat,” he choked out the word, his face hot, “hits, the only one I want is you.”
Vegeta’s hand clenched where it held the door, and it crumbled in his fist.
Goku watched him take in one ragged breath after the next as if he’d just run a marathon. “Are ya okay, Vegeta?”
“I’m fine! ” He jumped outside and shut the door with his tail, leaving Goku to blink after him.
The beta scratched the back of his head, brows furrowed and sighed. He’d wanted Vegeta to stay, but he wasn’t about to force him to remain with him at all times.
Even though he wanted to.
Broly was out there.
His tail lashed in agitation and he growled. Stood up and followed Vegeta outside.
Broly hadn’t taken long and both Lemo and Cheelai stood to his side.
Vegeta looked back at Goku. “Can you transport all of us at once, or do you need to make multiple trips?”
Giving himself a shake he grinned the trademark Son grin, “Of course I can teleport all of us. Just make sure you’re all in contact with me.”
Vegeta moved behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist.
Goku blinked and felt heat rising up to the tips of his ears.
Broly placed a hand on his shoulder. Lemo his other shoulder, and Cheelai grabbed hold of his free hand.
Then, closing his eyes and trying not to think about Vegeta’s body being pressed up against his, he placed two fingers to his temple and concentrated on his ki and enveloping them all.
Seconds later, or perhaps minutes, they were back on Earth at Capsule Corp.
Trunks and Goten looked up from where they sat at a picnic table.
Goten grinned and turned to get up and run to them. “You’re back!”
Goku chuckled as everyone but Vegeta removed their hands from him. “Yeah. For now. We still need to find Tarble and ask him.”
Trunk’s eyes moved from Goten, to Goku, and then spotted his father. “Dad? What’re you doing?”
Goten blinked and then his own face got hot. “Shouldn’t you be behind closed doors?”
Goku blinked, “Why?”
Goten and Trunks shook their heads.
Goku shrugged and then placed two fingers on his temple again and concentrated on locating Tarble’s ki in the great expanse of the Universe. He wasn’t so far away that he couldn’t sense him at all.
He blinked his eyes open and heard a rumbling growl from behind him. “Vegeta?”
The shorter of the two pushed Goku behind him and stomped forward toward an even shorter Saiyan.
“You will stay away from my Kakarot, Tarble.”
Tarble cocked his head. “What are you talking about, Vegeta?”
Goku himself was a bit confused as to what was going on and grabbed the end of his own tail and shifted from foot to foot.
He took a few steps forward.
Tarble’s nostrils flared. “Oh. OH!” He grinned and wrapped his arms around the older prince. “You’re courting. That's wonderful brother!”
Vegeta’s brows furrowed and he pushed his younger brother away. “Where’s Gure?”
Tarble blinked and stared down at his feet. His bottom lip trembled.
Goku cocked his head and leaned over to ask, “Are ya okay Tarble?”
Vegeta growled, “Kakarot, get back!” He shoved him behind him again and glared in his younger brother’s direction.
Goku wasn’t sure what was going on. Vegeta had been acting odd lately. Really odd.
Tarble wiped his hand over his eyes. “I-I’m fine. But Gure’s with some guy named Zeno-sama or something like that.”
Goku gasped.
Vegeta’s jaw dropped.
“What!?”
Tarble lowered his hands and took a deep breath before slowly releasing it. “I don’t know what happened. But Gure and I are no longer together.”
Goku looked at Vegeta. They both were aware of who Zeno-sama was and that he could easily wipe the existence of the universe - all universes - out. This was not something either of them could handle even if they were quite strong. They didn’t have that sort of power or influence. Not even Goku himself despite thinking of Zeno-sama as a friend.
Vegeta shook his head, “Maybe it’s for the best, Tarble.”
“How!? There are no other Saiyan’s… and they wouldn’t want a weak Alpha like me anyway.”
Goku placed a hand on Vegeta’s shoulder and stared over him to look down at Tarble. “You’re not that weak, Tarble. And I’m sure ye’ll find someone on Vegeta-sei.”
“But the planet and our people are long gone, Kakarot.”
Goku shook his head. “Not anymore.”
“What do you mean?” The Alpha asked him and directed his gaze to Vegeta, “What does Kakarot mean, brother?”
Vegeta sighed and patted Goku’s hand on his shoulder. Instead of grabbing it and flipping him as he normally would he instead turned his head and pressed a kiss to the fingers.
Goku’s eyes widened and felt his face heat up. Not even ChiChi showed nearly so much affection. Hugs yes, but kisses in front of people? Not so much.
Tarble smiled at the pair. “At least you found a beta. I didn’t even realize he was one…”
“Nor did I. And Kakarot had no idea since he doesn’t have any memories of his time before Earth.”
Goku scratched the back his head since it was the truth and he had no idea what else to say on the matter as Vegeta explained the wishes Goku had made.
Tarble as he listened to the details his eyes grew wider and wider. “That’s… that’s amazing, Kakarot!”
Goku grinned, “Heh. Well Shenron’s the amazing one who we should be thanking.”
“Yes. Maybe if I see him I will be sure to thank him.”
“So, will ya be joining us on Vegeta-sei Tarble?” He asked of the younger prince.
“I… no longer have anything here that is keeping me,” his head lowered, his bangs shadowing his face, “so yes. At least to visit. You’ll bring me back here,” he looked up at them, “if I feel I am not welcome on the planet of my birth?”
Goku hoped things would go better than that Tarble imagined, but he nodded anyway. “Of course! We’re not gonna force anyone to do anything, right Vegeta?”
Vegeta’s brows rose. “That depends, Kakarot. There are laws that must always be upheld and the culture of our people is different from many of Earth’s ways.”
“No killing.”
“No unnecessary killing, Kakarot.”
His brows furrowed. “Fine, but I get ta decide what’s unnecessary.”
“Of course you would. It’s our sire that we may have trouble with.”
Tarble asked, “How? You two, even one of you alone, would be enough to put father in his place.”
Vegeta nodded.
Goku hoped that the family could get along. “What will your father think of me? I’m just a third class.”
Vegeta growled, “Nonsense! With your power level you’d easily pass the trials to become first class and as my mate you’ll be an Elite.”
“Uh… trials?”
Tarble shuddered, “Best you not know. It’ll turn your stomach.”
“But if I have ta do the trials, because it’s a Saiyan than ta be with Vegeta… I will,” although he already didn’t like the sound of it.
Vegeta smirked, “Good. Not that I think you would need to do those trials considering you and I are both well beyond the level of Super Saiyan.”
Tarble nodded. Then he frowned. “It will all depend on father’s mood. Are you certain you want Kakarot to allow him to be among those brought back to the land of the living once he’s set foot on the planet?”
“Yes, Tarble. Father may have many faults, but he is still our sire. And if he becomes a problem I believe it would not be too difficult to overthrow him.”
“I wish you luck, brother. Now I’ll be right back with my luggage. I don’t have much that I need to take.”
Vegeta used his hand to signal Tarble to get on with it. “Go on, hurry up. We don’t have all day. At least you’ll get to meet Broly.”
Tarble stilled. “Broly? I’ve heard of him, but I’ve never met him. Isn’t he dangerous?”
Vegeta scoffed.
Goku shook his head. “Nah. He dun like ta fight. And he’s got this thing called Soulmate’s Gaze.”
The younger prince’s pupils turned to pinpricks. “What!? He’s a beta?” He began pacing in front of them instead of getting his luggage as he’d mentioned. “And he’s been alone all this time except for his terrible sire?”
“He’s got Lemo and Cheelai,” Goku pointed out.
Tarble stopped and stared up at him. “They’re not Saiyan’s. And now you left him alone again to come get me?”
Goku glanced at Vegeta and back at Tarble. “He’s really strong, Tarble.”
“You just said he doesn’t like to fight.”
“He doesn’t, but he’s stronger than me and Vegeta. He can defend himself.”
Tarble placed his hands on his hips. “Just because he can doesn’t mean he wants to. Take me to him.”
“What about your luggage, Tarble?” Vegeta crossed his arms and watched his younger brother with a wary eye.
Tarble growled and hurried to get his things.
Goku turned to Vegeta, “Why’s Tarble being so weird?”
“He’s an Alpha, remember?”
“Yeah? So?”
“It’s an instinct to protect a beta.”
“But ya never felt that way about me.”
“At least one of us was usually missing our tail, Kakarot. It messes with our senses. Kami, the Kaoishin, and the Gods you’ve made friends with did not have entirely altruistic reasons for getting rid of our tails in the first place. To stop them from growing naturally as they typically do after a time.”
“Oh.”
Vegeta reached up a hand and brushed the back of it against Goku’s cheek and all the orange clad Saiyan could do was lean into that touch with a purr.
“Kakarot…,” Vegeta’s ears were red and he was trying to clear his throat.
“Yeah, Vegeta?” He asked, eyes hooded as he inhaled a spicy scent that had him salivating.
Just then they were interrupted, “Vegeta! You can’t do that here.”
Goku stood to his full height and blinked. “Huh? What was Vegeta doin’?”
Tarble stared at him. “You really don’t have a clue, do you?”
“Of course he doesn’t. He’s not aware of the pheromones he’s giving off. I’m surprised you haven’t tried to jump him.”
“He’s your beta.”
Goku growled, “I’m right here and not an object!” He tilted his head and thought about things he’d heard Bulma and ChiChi complain about in the past. They hadn’t been about him, but they’d mentioned people they’d run into whilst out and about in the city. Goku hadn’t understood and now that he did he winced.
Vegeta chuckled. “I know, Kakarot. You’re more than capable of defending yourself, but an Alpha Saiyan’s instincts can override common sense at times. The same with a beta’s.”
Goku frowned.
Tarble sighed, “It’s fine, Kakarot. I’m sure Vegeta will finish explaining things to you. But you do smell like you’re begging to be bred. However I’m capable of control. I am however surprised my brother hasn’t already done so.”
Vegeta glowered at his younger brother. “Tarble!” He growled out the name. “I am trying to be respectful of Kakarot. Besides he still doesn’t know everything and I won't force him into something he doesn’t understand.”
Goku shook his head and touched Vegeta’s arm and Vegeta grabbed hold of Tarble’s own shoulder. “I’m gonna be Vegeta’s, but we’re waiting for my heat.”
“Really? But I thought you were already in heat?”
The beta gasped, “What!?”
Vegeta frowned. “I think I’d be able to tell, Tarble.”
“Hmmn. Maybe it’s pre-heat then? It’s way more subtle.”
Goku had no idea what he was talking about, but he used his IT to get them to where they’d left Broly.
When they arrived Goku yawned.
Vegeta placed his arm around Goku’s waist. “Come on, let’s head to bed and then we’ll get ready to leave.”
Goku nodded, “Mmmn.”
It was at that moment, Broly turned around the corner into the room and his eyes widened at the sight of Tarble.
Tarble stared up at the large Saiyan. He was big indeed. Yet his scent was like that of flowers and Vegeta-sei itself with a mix of some unknown aroma.
The younger prince could not tear his gaze from the long haired Saiyan who did not yet have his tail.
Goku watched with tired eyes and whispered to Vegeta, “Do ya see that?”
“Yes. Father will not be pleased.”
Goku blinked. “What? Why? Are ya mad?”
“No. Not at this. But what father did…”
He didn’t know what to say, but his gaze flicked to where Broly and Tarble were, standing almost toe to toe and staring at each other from their differing heights.
“Should we separate them?” Goku asked.
“No. Leave them Kakarot. They’ll figure it out and if not, they’re fully grown Saiyans.”
“But Broly knows little about…”
“I’m certain Paragus taught him a lot of customs, but in a manner that he hoped would lead his son to taking over the planet so he could become Paragus’s puppet.”
“That’s a horrible thing for a father ta do.”
“Right. Let’s go Kakarot. If you are in preheat… I want to make sure no one tries to hurt you.”
“Hurt me? What?”
“Sometimes, during heat, a beta’s power level will fluctuate, sometimes disappear for a brief time.”
“Then why don’cha stay with me Vegeta?”
“You wanted to wait.”
“Well, I said I wanted ya for my heat, so…,” he gulped, “do ya not want me… anymore?”
Vegeta grasped Goku’s head in his hands and rose on tiptoes to kiss him. “Stop thinking nonsense,” he panted, “it’s difficult enough to behave myself without you provoking me. I don’t want to hurt you.”
“You’re not gonna hurt me, Vegeta.”
“Mating during a heat, even if contraceptives are used, all but guarantees a pregnancy. Do you want to be pregnant, Kakarot?”
Goku gulped. He hadn’t thought about it. “I dunno.”
“Then don’t ask me for this. Not unless you’re certain of everything, Kakarot.”
He pressed his forehead to Vegeta’s. “Okay,” he whispered.
Vegeta sighed and pulled him out of the room. “Let’s leave those two alone to stare into each other’s eyes.”
“They didn’t even seem ta realize we were still in there.”
Vegeta stopped in front of a door and opened it. “You can stay in my room.”
“Huh, but Vegeta where are ya gonna sleep?”
“In the Gravity Chamber… actually probably outside your door.”
“Why!?”
“I know you can defend yourself Kakarot, but please allow me to protect you as my senses dictate.”
“But why don’t ya wanna sleep in here with me?”
“Remember what we just talked about?”
“Yeah?”
“That’s why.”
“Oh!” He nibbled at his bottom lip. He wanted Vegeta in bed with him, even if it was just to cuddle. But he’d learned enough to know that it was best this way. Not that he liked it. But he didn’t know if he wanted to be pregnant. At least not yet. But what if he never wanted to? Would Vegeta not want him then?
Goku gulped. He was afraid to ask, but he wasn’t against having a child. Just he needed to get used to the idea he’d be the one carrying the baby.
“G’night Vegeta.”
“Good night, my Kakarot.”
He felt a tingle of warmth go through him and smiled. With a quick peck to Vegeta’s forehead he closed the door and dove beneath the sheets. He’d wash up in the morning when he woke.
