Yea!! Last chapter!! He he!! Yea! Standard disclaimers apply!!! Here we go!* Star Wars and Star Trek are not mine. I was reading the latest classic star wars book (Tatooine Ghost) when I wrote this not the New Jedi Order ..which I despise. ( I have them all but I hate the whole messed up series) and yes, I am a huge Star Wars fan!!! Sorry to all those who don’t like the classics and the new movies.

Chapter 14

 
 
“WuFei! Why are you here?”
“Une sent me for you.”
“Why?”
“She has her own agendas.” After a moment he asked.” Did you get it?”
Hilde nodded as she held it up. “I hope so, if not we have all wasted our time.”
WuFei gave her a sharp nod as she leaned back on to Duo’s shoulder. She sighed as she relaxed. She shoulder ached and she was tired. Her eyes closed as the gentle motion of the van rocked her to a light slumber.
Duo’s arm wrapped around her as he felt her drift off. He grinned. He knew she was tired, even though she had lied to him. He could read her like a book. All the years they had spent together had made him very observant of her. The fact that he loved her helped too. Duo relaxed and let his eyes close as they drove back to Headquarters.
After a few minutes, WuFei poked Duo, waking him.
“We’re here.”
Duo opened a sleepy eye and nodded, Shaking Hilde slightly. “Come on , babe, we’re here.”
She opened one eye and looked up at him. “Here?”
“Headquarters.”
“Ok.” She mumbled and then stretched the best she could. She yawned and then followed Duo out of the van. She reached into her pocket , felt the disk and pulled it out. “We need to get this to Heero.” She looked at WuFei. “Do you…”
“Probably the main computer room. I saw him there last with Relena.” He shrugged.
Hilde nodded and said nothing. That relationship was an odd one after all. It was an on again off again thing. Hilde hoped someday they would finally get it together. They left Wu Fei who had mumbled something about going home and went on down the long corridor to the main computer room. She was tired and she felt as if her feet were dragging. She stumbled and Duo grabbed her pulling her into his arms, then he swept her from her feet. She squealed as he carried her down the hall.
“Duo! Put me down, Your ribs.”
“Their fine and you’re so light it’s nothing. I think I need to fatten you up a bit.” He grd atd at her as he carried her to the door of the room. He set her on her feet and pushed the door open. They stopped in their tracks at the odd sounds they heard.
Hilde’s eyes got wide as she pulled Duo back from the door way. “Um, let’s give them a couple of more minutes, ok?”
“Yeah, Good idea.”
After a few minutes ,Duo opened the door and called out to Heero. Heero answered in his normal noncommittal grunt. He pulled Hilde in after him.
“Heero. We have something you need to decode and fast.”
He looked up at them from the desk. Relena stood next to him. Her face flushed, and her hair slightly messy. Duo looked at her and said nothing. Relena’s face blushed deeper. Heero looked at the disk Hilde handed him.
“What is it?”
“It may be the plot to ruin Une and the Preventers.”
“Hn.” He slipped it into the computer and opened it. He grunted, and began to type. “Easy code.”
It only took him a few minutes to break it. The information scrolled on the screen.
“Call Une.” He stated as he continued to read the words.
“It was that easy? “ Duo asked, a little awe creeping into his voice.
Heero looked up at him. “Do you remember those old Star War DVDS? The ones you two like to watch all the time?”
Duo and Hilde both nodded.
“They used the Ewok language.*”
“Really? Wow! I suppose it could be used just like the Klingon language from Star Trek*, too.”
Heero nodded. “We have him and his daughter.”
Hilde looked at Heero and handed him another disk. “We also found some other disturbing stuff too.”
“Give it to Une. Let her deal with it.”
Hilde nodded as she put the disk back in her pocket.
Heero hit the print button and let the printer take the information.
“Does it have dates and stuff, Heero?”
He gave a short nod. “Yes. We have to get this to Une . The date of her execution is the day after tomorrow.”
“Any thing else?” Duo asked, placing a hand on Hilde’s uninjured shoulder.
“Yes. A press release claiming misappropriated funds and that she committed suicide , when found out.” he paused as he scrolled down farther . It claims he had investigating her for months and was ready to break with the news. He claims to have a committee set up to take over the operations of the preventers.”
“Bastard.” Relena growled. “ I can’t wait to take him down.” She smacked her fist into her open palm.
Heero looked up at her. “Relena?”
Hilde grabbed Duo’s hand. “Come on, let’s call Une. This guy is going down!!”
They swept from the room to call Une, leaving Heero and Relena alone.

 
~~~~ e Pe Presenter’s headquarters were quiet. Most of the solders were in the barracks sleeping or on patrol. Hilde and Duo walked down the hall to the control to call Une. Duo turned to Hilde, “Are you sure we want to leave those two alone?”
“Who?” She looked over him with a bewildered look on her face.
“You know , Heero and Relena.”
“Why not? They need some time to be alone.”
“Yeah, well….” he replied, scratching his head.
“Listen Duo they need the time together so they can sort out how they feel for each other.”
“Yeah I know ,but still…. We ….”
“Come on , we need to call Une and get this guy and his followers locked away.”
They continued in silence for a little ways, then Duo asked, “What about that Megan chick? What do you suppose they’ll do with her if she makes it?”
Hilde sighed, still feeling a bit guilty for wounding her so bad. “ I honestly don’t know, Duo. She’s not right in the head, that’s for sure.”
“Hmm.”
She pulled him into the com room and greeted the officer in there. She insted hed him to call Une at home and tell her it was imperative for her to return to Headquarters. When he asked what he should tell her if she asked why. She replied to tell her it was about the plot and she would know. He made the call and asked them if they were going to wait. She told him to tell Une to meet them in the main computer room. He nodded as they left the room and went back to meet with Heero and Relena.
The meeting with Une went well and everyone went off to their rooms to relax and sleep of a few hours before Une and the preventers raided the Senator’s office. She had asked if the four of them wanted to be involved ,but they declined, happy to be a pert but not in the spot light. Une would be sure to tell them about the bust and she would be sure to include them in her report. Hilde knew Une didn’t have to go but she wanted to be there pretty much so she could smirk in the Senator’s face.

 
Epilogue:

The raid had gone well. Une had told them that the man had been screaming at them the whole time calling it an inquisition , until his porno disks were found. Then he denied everything. The assassin had been caught the day he came to kill Une and he spilled his guts, telling everything he knew about he operation. They had confiscated the computer and found a list of names on it. Most them squealed, not wanted to go to prison. The trial would be coming up in a few months. Megan recovered and was sent t o get help from her father’s abuse. She would testify against him for clemency.

Hilde sat on her bed with her journal on her lap. She looked up at the ceiling , tapping her pencil on her lips as she thought of everything that had transpired over the last few weeks. She sighed and leaned back. Heero had finally admitted he had feelings for Relena ,and the girl was ecstatic. Une was safe and so was the Preventer Organization. . The President made an announcement that it was sanctioned by the government as government office. So it could not be decommissioned without an act of congress and the President. She held up her hand and gazed at the ring on her left finger. The small diamond barely shined in the dim light but was was enough to know it was there and it came from his heart. She wrote another entry then closed the book. Soon , they would be heading back to L-2 and their lives. Duo could be called on another mission any time but she seemed more at ease this time. He would be coming back. She looked up as the door opened, setting the journal beside her on the bed.
She smiled as the love of her life entered with two sodas.
“Hey, babe.” He greeted her and came over to sit beside her. He handed her one of the sodas. He pointed to the journal. “Writing again, huh? Gonna write a book someday about all over adventures?”
She took the soda and looked up at him as he sat beside her. “Hey, well you know maybe, I will. Do you think it will be a best seller?”
He leaned over and kissed her. “Anything with you in it has to be a winner.”
She blushed and set her soda can on the floor. She leaned over and kissed him hard on his lips.
He asked after she released him from her kiss. “So are you ready to head home?” He asked as he watched her fumble with the buttons of his shirt.
“Oh, in a little while.” She murmured as all the buttons cam e loose and she pushed his shirt off his shoulders. She took the soda from his hand and pushed him down on his back on the bed.
“Hilde, what are you thinking? They’ll be waiting….”
“Let them wait.” She smiled as she captured his lips once more letting her fingers slid on his bare skin.
“I’ll give you two minutes to stop that,” He moaned.
“Two minutes?” She asked, as her fingers ran to his belt and unhooked the clasp. Duo growled and flipped her over to her back. “OK,” he murmured, “Two can play.”
Soon the only sounds were heard were sounds of two people enjoying each other.
Sated and curled in each others arms they dozed together, when there was a rap at the door.
“Hey, are you guys ready? We’re all ready an hour behind.”
A few minutes they were on a shuttle to l-2. Hilde gazed out the window at the star field out her window. She felt Duo’s hand on hers and she turned to face him. He smiled as she smiled back.
“Soon we will be home.”
“Yeah, home.” She echoed back at him. Home. What a great place to be.
