Birthday Boy
A/N: Wow, 50 reviews and over 2000 hits. To my reviewers: TrulyWished, yup, Kimblee is such an asshole. milky, sorry for the cliff-hanger. My hands got tired from writing 10 pages and I decided t cut the chapter at a fitting place. Nastyscarythingunderthebed, daah, he can’t die. I don’t have the heart to kill him. Thank you for your concern, no I wasn’t badly hurt. I’m a professional dancer and choreographer and it was a job-related accident and the set. I’m ok and I’ll watch out more from now on. Anon, same thing and I’m glad you liked the chapter. I was afraid readers might want more lemon and lime than action and plot. Kuragari75, glad you like this fic.
Now, I have been trying and trying but the plot I have in mind needs yet another minor OC. Don’t hate me. Secondly, this chapter is based on my birthday party weekend. I have a small surprise for you all. Enjoy!
Chapter 14; Birthday Boy
It all happened in slow motion. The purple Nissan Fairlady leaped into the air, soaring in the air. It looked like it could crash into the dark water below any moment. As the wheels continued to rotate, the car driving on the invisible street of air, you could hear Ed whooping loudly inside.
The front of the car was the first to hit the road n the opposite side of the river, the car bouncing and the bumper falling of. The Fairlady landed on its screeching tires, the engine roaring as the car continued towards the finish line with the bumper hanging on one side, making sparks fly as it was dragged don the street. The crowd quickly parted to give the roughed up ride some space, not knowing it the breaks were still working after such a rough collision with the ground.
The car made a sharp u-turn, the engine dying, the busted front facing the bridge that was being lowered back down.
All was quiet, smoke coming from under the hood.
“Hell yeah!” Ed yelled from inside the car, opening the door and stepping out, people cheering and hollering. If the jump hadn’t broken Ed’s spine, the countless taps on his back were enough to have his back hurting for the weekend.
“Give him some god damn air!” He heard Havoc yell, elbowing his way through the crowd to get to Ed, Roy right behind him.
The lead racer looked at Ed and then turned to his busted car. “Damn Fullmetal, can’t you win a race without wrecking your ride? Who the hell is going to want to race you if they know they will most likely end up with busted ride?”
“Then we will just have to come up with another prize for the winner when we race again,” Ed said. Roy raised an eyebrow, wondering what the blond had in mind. Roy nodded, agreeing that they would race. Someday.
Meanwhile, Kimblee had crossed the bridge and pulled to a stop at the finish line. He smacked the wheel, honking in the process. Well, at least he had come to deliver what was agreed and not driving away with the car like a thief. Ed had to give him credit for that. Frustrated, Kimblee stepped out of his car and slammed the car door shut.
“Kissing the finish line was a little too rough for this lady,” Winry said checking the cosmetic damage on the front of Ed’s car and the busted bumper, looking at him disapprovingly after wrecking a formerly beautiful Fairlady. Ed just smiled, knowing Winry was playing, the blond woman smiling as well and hugging him. “You won, Ed!”
Ed chuckled. “Yeah, I know.”
Havoc walked around Kimblee’s car, checking the damage, stopping when he reached the back of the car. “Got it roughly in the ass did you Kimblee?” He chuckled. “And by the ‘blond bitch’!”
“Auch!” Someone yelled in the crowd, people laughing at the irony. Kimblee looked all but happy, cursing and smacking the hood of his ride as if it was the car’s fault he had lost.
“Don’t blame the game or ride, blame the racer.” Roy smirked at the man.
“Shut the fuck up, Mustang.” Kimble warned, his fist holding the keys tightening, a thin stream of blood running don his hand. Kimblee raised his fist to his face and liked the blood off of the back of his hand. He threw Ed the keys, the blond catching them in the air.
“Pleasure doing business with you,” Ed said, knowing Greed heard him. Kimblee didn’t say anything, one of his women from earlier sneaking up to him, pressing up against him suggestively but he didn’t seem to be in the mood anymore.
Riza tapped Ed on his back, Winry still clinging to him and Rose looking up to him like a 4th grade school girl looks up at a cutie from a boy-band. “That last stunt you pulled…wow…” Rose said, Ed winning a new fan.
Havoc jumped at Ed, grabbing him and holding him in an arm lock, ruffling the blond’s hair. “This is my homeboy right here! The one and only, Fullmetal!” Havoc announced loudly, raising Ed’s arm in the air, the crowd cheering. “Damn, I’ll need to start making these people pay to see this shit. I’m telling you Fullmetal, you and me could make some good money.”
“I don’t race for the money. Or the cars.” Ed stated so everyone could hear him, especially Kimblee and Roy. “I race for the respect and pried. Watch out next time who you are calling a bitch, Kimblee.”
To stroke a cat against the fur and they get mad. And when messing with a tiger you should not forget they have claws that can kill a man. Kimblee growled low in his throat, pulling out his gun, the people around them protesting. Roy instinctively moved to stand in front of Ed, blocking Kimblee.
“You want to get shot again, Mustang?” Kimblee asked, raising his gun.
“Enough Zolf.” Came a voice filled with superiority. Both Roy and Kimblee turned to look at Greed who was stepping towards them, clapping his hands. “What an interesting show this has been. But it ends here. Face it, you lost Kimblee.”
“Damnit Greed, don’t you tell me—“
“Shut it or I’ll stick that water pistol up your ass.” Greed warned, reminding the Alchemist who was the boss. Growling, Kimblee put down the gun and back in his hidden pocket. Greed turned to Roy who looked just as angry that Greed broke in although the mafia boss had just spared him from another bullet. Greed offered Roy his hand. “Congratulations on today’s race, Flame.”
Roy looked at the hand, looking up at the gangster and slapped the hand away.
“Harsh,” Greed commented, having expected as much from Mustang. “I’ll be seeing you around.” Greed signalled his men to follow, walking passed Ed, talking so quietly only Ed heard him say: “The streets are yours if you want them.”
Ed watched Greed jump into his car, his men and the Alchemists following, a growling Kimblee having to get a ride for him and his whores after losing his car. Why had he raced? And what had he tried to prove?
"Party at Fullmetal’s crib!!" Havoc yelled into the street after the race. Everyone cheered, happy to have a place to party for the night.
Ed’s eyes widened. "Havoc! You must be out of your goddamn mind!"
Havoc just smiled, patting Ed on the back and treating him on a cigarette. "It just works that way sometimes," he said simply before running off.
Ed sighed heavily. ‘What have I gotten myself into?’ he asked himself before heading to find Winry, tow the busted car to the garage and get to his place before it was torn down.
***********************************************************************
Ed was sure Winry had stalled them on purpose, driving back to his place so slow that Ed had demanded they would pull over and he would drive the rest of the way. After a thorough interrogation, Ed had found out that Winry had heard from Al that it was Ed’s birthday. And knowing the mouth on the blond woman…
When Ed and Winry drove nearer to his house, they were met by a mass of cars and some people hanging outside. The house lights were on and music was blearing from the inside. Through the windows, the pair could see random people drinking beers and dancing.
’How the hell did they get in? Has to be Al. He’ll let just about anyone in. I need to talk to him about that again," Ed thought just as a car honked, stopping at their side.
"Nice crib you got here Fullmetal!" Havoc complimented, staring up, awed at Ed’s place. "If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re rollin’ in the dough."
"Yeah, well it helps when you’re born with a silver spoon in your mouth and that your father is filthy rich and left you a big bank account," Winry slipped, followed by an elbow in her gut. "Ow Ed! What the hell was that for? Al told me!"
"No shit!" Havoc exclaimed. "You’ve gotta be kiddin’ me!"
Ed gave Winry an irritated look on account of her big mouth. By this time, the rest of the crew had pulled up. Roy stepped out of his Lex, followed by Riza and Rose.
"I should have guessed Edo was rich," Roy started. "It would explain the stick up his ass."
Ed rolled his eyes, wondering at how fast this guy’s moods changed. Not just an hour ago, Roy looked just about ready to screw him into the ground. Now the lead racer was all with the insults.
"Well," Winry exclaimed, clapping her hands together. "Let’s get this party started."
***********************************************************************
Inside the party had already started. Ed was greeted by the crew that had been missing from the race. He figured they had arrived earlier and set the whole thing up. He didn’t know half of the people there but he was happy that at least the crew was gathered to party. This wasn’t just because they had all brought him gifts. Well, everyone except Roy.
Al had confessed to have been conspiring with Winry and set the party up in the last minute. At first Ed was pissed but he let it go. He would actually have been more surprised if Al had listened to his request not to have a party. When it came to guests, Al was the perfect host. Jay, the bartender from The Silver Rose, had come and was working the kitchen like a bar, fixing the guests up with drinks on the house. Rose took her role as a waitress and walked around with a tray and making sure no one was standing around without a drink, beer or soda. When she reached Ed, she chose a drink for him and kissed the glass, leaving the imprint of her lips with her lipstick on the glass before giving it to Ed winking. Ed smiled at her and took a sip.
Outside, Winry was sitting on the hood of her car with Havoc who had been forced to go outside, Al actually threatening to show the pack of cigarettes up his something if he caught Havoc smoking inside the house. A car that looked much like Breda’s ride pulled over next to the house. Winry and Havoc looked at each other. Hadn’t Breda made it already and brought he cakes he made?
As it was, Breda walked up to the two. Havoc was about to ask the chef where the hell he had been, but the words died in his mouth when he caught the most sexy sight he’d ever seen. His world went in slow motion as a woman stepped out from behind Breda.
Havoc’s eyes slowly grazed the female’s body, starting from her tanned and toned legs. ‘Damn, what a hell of a set of thighs,’ he thought wickedly. His eyes raked over the woman’s short skirt and stopped just for a fraction of a second at her pierced navel. His eyes continued their ascent upwards, lingering perversely at her breasts. ‘Nice pair of knockers too.’ He continued his climb up her body, passed her exposed shoulders and to her face. Her hair was a very dark hue, almost making it look black. She wore it in a messy bun, keeping her hair length a mystery. Her full pink lips were complemented by green eyes and long eyelashes.
"Who’s your friend?" Winry asked.
Breda smiled proudly. "This is my homegirl 4thCry, Fullmetal’s birthday present."
The woman smiled, nodding at the two and pulling out a pack of cigarettes. Havoc hurriedly pushed Winry off the hood and pulled out his lighter from his pocket. "Here’s a seat," Havoc said, smiling and patting the hood, offering her a light. She smiled and lighted her cigarette.
Winry got off the ground and dusted herself off. "Nice to know that best friends come first," Winry said, glaring at Havoc. Havoc smiled, rising and dropping his eyebrows, thinking Winry should know a hot woman when she saw one. 4thCry quickly put out her cigarette and snapped her fingers much like the Colonel.
”Now, where is the lucky birthday boy?”
***********************************************************************
”Yo, listen up people!” Breda announced, people leaving what ever they were doing, gathering in the living room. ”Now, let’s hear it for the birthday boy, the dare-devil of the streets, Fullmetal!”
”Happy birthday!” They all congratulated, almost making Ed blush.
Breda continued his speech. ”I’d like to thank Rose and Jay for putting up and our DJ, Kain Fuery!” Kain bowed ceremoniously. ”And now I’m gonna give the birthday boy his gift.” Ed was pushed into an armchair by Falman and Havoc, both smirking at him. ”I present to you a woman who can drive into my garage any time and let me check out her trunk. Ladies and gentlemen, my homegirl 4thcry and her girls.”
Three women stepped out of the crowd, taking over the dance floor. Ed panicked. Al was going to kill him if he let his friends bring strippers into the house. But these woman had no intention on undressing, Fuery putting on Justin Timberlake’s ’Lovestoned’, the women putting on a dance show. They weren’t hookers after all, but just because they weren’t naked, they did turn a man on with their suggestive moves, swinging their hips and licking their lips.
The one in the middle, who Ed guessed was Breda’s friend 4thcry, winked at him and gestured for him to get up on the floor. Ed was pulled out of the armchair by Havoc who pushed onto the dancing floor. Ed reluctantly walked up to her, knowing he wasn’t much of a dancer and she seemed like a pro. 4thcry put her hands on his shoulders, dropping down real low in front of him, her hands sliding down his body. He went stiff, his friends noticing how he reacted to the dancer’s suggestive moves, Winry giggling and Jay rooting for him.
Ed decided to be a man about it and when he was to face to face with the dancer, he grabbed her by her waist and swept her of her feet. She giggled and he pulled her upright, spinning around with his hands still on her hips as the song turned into a slow dance, the people around them cheering and applauding enthusiastically. She leaned in and whispered in his ear: ”Happy birthday.” Ed nodded and she gave him a kiss on the cheek when the song ended, walking up to Breda and sat down in his lap. The man smirked at Ed and gave him thumbs up. Ed had no idea how Breda knew such girls. There was more to the man than his cheeseburgers.
”Now that you showed us all you can dance, mind giving me some lessons?”
Ed turned around and there was Rose. He smiled at her. ”Sure.”
Fuery switched to Sean Paul’s ’Give It Up To Me’, the guests cheering and forming couples now that the dance floor was free. Ed carefully placed his hands on Rose’s waist and she put her arms around his neck. They moved to the beat, Rose turning around in Ed’s arms at one point, dancing with her back pressed to his front.
”You are popular tonight, cutie.” He heard the familiar sultry voice say, turning around and seeing Psiren dancing next to them with Roy who had one hand on her ass, the other holding a beer bottle. Ed’s eyes were locked with Roy’s, amber piercing onyx. The stood still long enough for Rose to turn around, confused why they had stopped dancing. She sighed and turned to Roy, tugging at his shirt.
”Dance with me?” She asked simply. Roy took a swing of his beers, nodding and handing Ed the empty bottle, smirking as he offered Rose his hand and she took it. Mustang pulled the giggling girl against him and danced with her like an older brother dances with his little sister. You would think it would annoy a girl, but Rose didn’t mind.
Ed rolled his eyes. Psiren had gotten over the fact she had been dumped for a younger girl, putting her arm around Ed’s shoulders.
”Well, I’m gonna go hook up with a complete stranger. See you around cutie.” She said. Ed decided to go put away the empty bottle and get himself a drink. Watching Roy dance with Rose was having a strange effect on him. For a second there, his mind had pictured Roy’s arms around him in Rose’s place. It was frightening.
He walked into the foyer where the door was left open. He looked outside, spotting Winry talk to some girl while checking under the hood of a car. Ed deciding it was better not to interfere since you rarely saw her hook up with anything else but sports cars. Just then a black car pulled over and Ed felt nervous when he recognized the car. He tried to look cool, like he hadn’t been doing any illegal racing that night or anything…illegal…
Scar walked up to the front door, taking of his dark sunglasses. ’Who the hell wears those things in the middle of the night?’ Ed thought. ”What are you doing here?” He asked.
”I heard from Miss Rockbell there was going to be a party.” Scar explained his hands in his pockets. ”Well, do I need to get you roses and ask you to be my date before you let me into the house?” He asked with a playful smile.
”Shut up old man!” Ed hissed, hoping no one heard that. ”Besides, I don’t think you’ll fit in.”
”Edward, don’t try to act like I didn’t hear on the cop radio that there had been a street race and someone - and I’m guessing you – drove a car across a rising bridge. I’m guessing that means most of the people in there came from the drags here. And honestly, I don’t care a damn about that.”
Ed quirked his eyebrows in surprise. He stepped to the side and let Scar come inside and join the party. ”You are either the best cop I know or the very worst.” Ed commented, Scar throwing his jacket on top of the pile covering most of the foyer.
”Tonight I’m just one of your homeboy, alright?”
Ed nodded, giving Scar daps. ”Let’s fix you up with some cake and a drink.
***********************************************************************
Outside, the last car to pull over at the house that night was a white Ford Mustang Fastback. A man with his hair dyed blue and his left arm tattooed with black, tribal tattoos. He checked out the house and walked inside, closing the open door after himself.
***********************************************************************
Ed was eating a piece of Breda’s delicious cake in the kitchen, wanting to escape the party for a moment. From where he sat at the island counter he could see out into the dining room, a few people playing poker, one of them being Roy.
Ed frowned when he saw Jenny, wondering who invited her. She went to stand behind Roy, leaning down and wrapping her arms around him, kissing his neck. For a moment she glanced into the kitchen, seeing Ed and gave him the same look he was giving her. She smirked evilly, touching Roy’s chin so the man looked at her, leaning in and kissing him on his lips, making sure there was tongue action. As Roy was occupied by her lips, she manoeuvred her ay to sit in his lap, continuing to keep his attention from the game on her.
”C’mon Flame, play or go get a room.” A player said irritably.
”Yeah, or put Jenny on the table and play for her.” The men chuckled.
Ed looked away disgusted, having lost his appetite. He moved to the sink and scrapped the rest of the cake in the garbage.
”If Breda saw you do that he would be hurt,” Rose said, walking into the kitchen with a tray filled with empty glasses and bottles, placing them in the sink. Ed didn’t answer her and she sighed. She looked at the direction Ed had been looking, not thinking it had been Roy ad Jenny’s make-out session that had made him so irritated. Al had moved all of Ed’s presents onto the dinning table for his older brother to open up later.
"Whoa, you sure did get a lot of gifts. Now I feel bad. I didn’t get you anything," she said guiltily, going to the fridge and grabbed a cider.
"Don’t feel bad.” Ed said, opening the bottle for her. ”I wasn’t planning on having a party anyway.”
Rose took a sip of her cider, wetting her lips. ”You know, there are other things I could give you that are not material.”
Ed raised an eyebrow. ”What’s that supposed t mean.” He wasn’t dumb. He knew she was hitting on him.
"Nothing…just…"
"Just…what?"
"Just a small little peck on the cheek. Totally innocent," she said, a small blush on her cheeks. Ed smiled at her, leaning over the counter and presenting her with his cheek, his eyes closed. Rose smiled, closing her eyes and leaning in…
”Oh Roy..” Ed heard Jenny moan, his eyes widening. Ed turned his head to see what the hell was going on in the dinning room. The first thing that popped into Ed’s mind when her lips touched his was ‘Damn they’re soft.’
Rose’s eyes widened as she realized that Ed had moved his head to catch her lips instead and the simple ’innocent peck’ became more than that.
’This wasn’t supposed to go like this,’ Ed thought. But then he remembered Roy’s lips on that drama queen bitch. ’What the hell.’
Rose smiled inwardly and closed her eyes as he leaned in even more, increasing lip contact. She sighed into his mouth when his hand came up to caress cheek. Timidly, she gave in to his coaxing, allowing her tongue to slip out and intertwine with his.
"Oooh, look who’s making with the suck face," a voice said, followed by a couple of female giggles. Ed and Rose pulled away from each other. Jenny and Riza stood at the doorway, trying to contain their laughter.
Rose opened her mouth but closed it, not wanting to sound like an idiot. What was she supposed to say? ‘It’s not what it looks like. I was just giving Fullmetal his birthday present’?
Jenny chuckled. "Looks like you two are getting along just fine."
"Yeah, you’re real mature Jenny," Rose said, still embarrassed. Ed could tell the bitch jenny had Rose terrified.
"No rosebud. You’re mature. Making out with some punk you barely even know in the kitchen." Her voice held a touch of disgust.
"C’mon Jenny," Riza said lightly. "I’m sure they were just having a little fun, right guys?" She directed the last part to the two guilty ones.
Jenny walked up to Rose, hands on her hips. She leaned in close to Rose and sniffed. ”I smell…a scank.”
Rose blushed furiously, looking like she was about to cry. With a whimper Rose rushed out of the kitchen. Riza turned to Jenny.
”I think you went over the line Jenny,” she said, going after Rose. Jenny snorted, turning her attention to Ed. She grabbed Rose’s cider and took a few sips, keeping her eyes on Ed.
”A word of advice, punk: Get lost. You don’t belong here.”
”Who the fuck do you think you are telling me what to do, woman?” Ed growled irritated with the woman. ”And why did you have to upset Rose. The only scank here is you.”
Lightning flashed in the blond woman’s eyes, moving to stand face to face with Ed. ”Stay away from Roy, you hear me.” Finally, she got it out of her system.
”I just told you. Don’t you fucking tell me what to do, bitch.”
Jenny jerked forward, intentionally spilling her drink on Ed’s shirt. She gave a fake gasp and put her hand over her mouth. ”Oopsy,” she said, but didn’t pull the bottle away, letting the rest of the liquid stain his shirt shaking the bottle to get out the very last drop. ”Look at that. Oh my good. Clearly, it was an accident.”
Ed growled. ”Accident my ass.”
Jenny smiled evilly, leaning in to whisper in his ear. ”Stay away from Roy or there ill be more accidents.” She slammed the bottle on the counter and left the room. Ed rolled his eyes. What did he say? Drama Queen.
Already feeling the sweet beverage become sticky he pulled off his shirt and tossed it into the sink with the dishes. Right now he didn’t mind if Al would scold him later about the kitchen not being the laundry room.
Someone gave a low whistle and Ed turned to find a guy he never met before. He had blue hair and his left arm was heavily tattooed. ”You must be Fullmetal,” the guy said pointing at him with the hand holding a half empty bottle of corn-beer. ”Nice party.”
”The party is almost over.” Ed said, trying not to take his anger out on the guy. ”Are you the kind of guy who arrives late or something?”
”I’m the kind of guy who moves from party to party. I just came from a bar but the mood died when Kimblee and his boys showed up.” The taller man chuckled at Ed’s expression. ”I figured you were friends. I’ll have you know, you had Kimblee was showing down drinks and licking his wounds. He was half way passed out when I left, mumbling about a blond guy called Fullmetal. Then I heard you had a party and I wanted to meet the guy who beat Kimblee at a race.”
Ed smirked. It was good to get some appreciation once in while. The man reached out his hand.
”The name’s Speed.”
Ed was about to shake his hand when a voice broke in. ”Obviously, he’s the Fullmetal that beat Kimblee.” Ed turned to see Roy in the doorway. Speed clicked his tongue, emptying his bottle halfway, lifting it as a salute while he swallowed.
”Long time, Colonel.”
”Party’s over. Leave.”
”Since when do you order people around in MY house?” Ed asked, glaring at Roy. Roy gave the blond the ’shut-up-I-know-better-than-you’ look, making Ed even angrier. Speed emptied his bottle, sighing as he put it on the counter.
”No need to get angry. I was already on my way out.” Speed said, walking passed Roy before turning around to say: ”I’ll see you around Fullmetal.” He left quickly like he had been shot in the ass by Roy’s glare.
”What the fuck was that about?” Ed demanded when the guy had left.
”That guy is trouble, take my advice and stay away from him.” Roy said moving closer to Ed.
”I have been getting a lot of advices today.” Ed said angrily, thinking about jenny telling him to stay away from the lead racer.
”Your gift,” Roy started, Ed quirking his brows, Roy being the last person he thought he would hear those words from. ”What do you want?”
”Excuse me?”
”You heard me,” Roy growled, not wanting to repeat himself. He watched Ed think about hat the blond wanted.
”The Honda S2000.” Ed said, Roy raising his brow at the suggestion.
”The junk car?”
”That’s the one.”
Roy looked at the blond strangely. He shrugged; at least he saved a few bucks.
”Very well, it’s yours. And since I’m such a good sport, I’ll let you keep it in the garage free of charge.” The older man said smirking. ”I heard Rose gave you a special present.”
Ed blushed slightly when reminded about the kitchen kiss incident. His face grew hotter when Roy put his hands on the counter on each side of the blond, leaning down.
Ed spotted some pink lipstick smeared on Roy’s neck and it killed the mood immediately.
”I have to kick people out if I want to sleep tonight. Starting with you.” Ed tried not to hiss but Roy got his message loud and clear, stepping back and walking out of the kitchen.
Ed leaned on the counter for a moment before starting ’mission kick guests out’.
”Winry! You owe me so get your ass over here!
