Chapter 15- Barrier by Agent182, Macha and Mechanical Butterfly
Vegeta hardly had a second to look at the domed building. He knew he needed to stall Kakarott, but how? ‘Physically of course,’ Vegeta thought to himself. He did wonder why Kakarott hadn’t just IT’d them directly to his son.
Vegeta closed his eyes. His meditation may have not worked earlier, but he knew he had it in himself to be something much darker than he had lived the last couple of decades. And that past might be his only salvation.
It was such a brief thought before he was directing a fist into the back of Kakarott’s head.
Which never connected.
Vegeta struggled to get his fist loose from the tight grip it was held in.
“What exactly was your motive?” Kakarott asked with a dark aura behind his words.
Vegeta’s smirk held something in it that hadn’t been there for years, “Foreplay.”
Even this version of Kakarott was thrown off by that comment. Enough to give Vegeta time to pull his own fist closer to himself, Kakarott’s arm following. He gaze never left the other sayian’s eyes as he lowered his head and bit Kakarott’s wrist.
Kakarott growled, but didn’t let his hold loose. Vegeta grinned a bloody grin.
“I really do like you this way,” Kakarott grinned, “But I have a feeling this isn’t real.” Kakarott pulled his arm back, which brought Vegeta into embracing range, “I won’t let anything get between us. Not even you.”

“March 24...Nanorobots complete.” I blinked. “But…but how…?” I looked back down and continued to read. “Dr. Briefs refuses to use the nanomachines treatment. His cancer has severely advanced there is no other choice.” I skipped a few paragraphs and only half read things. “Bunny suggests we put the Nanorobots in Dr. Briefs favorite treat….marshmallows.” Did my father eat those marshmallows? It would be the only explanation, and did it really matter how the Nanorobots got into his bloodstream, they were there and they needed to be removed. But how…none of the information I could find told me how they could be removed. They could survive for centuries…fuck, how do you destroy microscopic beings that were inside someone without destroying the person…?
Questions flooded my mind and there were no answers. “Fuck…” I mumbled softly as I picked up a few more papers, scanned them and tossed them aside. This is getting me nowhere. I glanced over to some more files on another desk. With a turn and one step, I was to them and already eyeing each page, picking up key words and searching for how to destroy them. “…Nanorobots……… can kill cancer….. tested on mice not yet on humans….”
Folders flew in every direction as I threw them aside. DAMMIT! There’s nothing here! Nothing! I sighed heavily and shoved the other papers to the ground.
If only Bulma was still alive… she could figure this out. I need to stop my father- no... that monster! My father might as well be dead. I froze. Oh shit… That ki. It’s- that monster… and he has Vegeta with him.
He must be here for me… to kill me. I know it. He must know I’m the only one that is intelligent enough to actually do anything. But why…
Why didn’t him instant transmission here? Maybe there is hope for my father… could Vegeta be distracting him? Dammit. I wish I knew.
These papers were useless. I know what is going on but I have no solution… this is typical. I scowled and threw papers across the room.
Someone tries to find a cure for a disease and this shit happens! This is probably a ‘one in the whole universe’ thing… but it’s not even worth it. All the lives that were stolen…
I sensed a rise in the ki’s outside… With a frown, I moved towards the door. I have to get out of here.
How can I bring my father back? My mind wandered as I sprinted through capsule corps and to the back exit. Wait… why the hell didn’t I think of this before? Dende! The dragonballs! We could wish for Kakarott to be gone and my father will be back! I felt my frown change into a grin. This day was looking brighter. I shoved open the back door, the sun blinding me for a moment as I stepped out.
Kakarott and Vegeta had yet to move from the spot by the front of the building. I wondered for a moment what they were doing… but I shake my head. “Thank you Vegeta.” He was giving himself to that beast… so I could save everyone… He was truly a hero.
I took off to the sky; the wind pushing my hair back as I flew towards Kami’s lookout. Our only hope was the dragonballs.

Vegeta laughed. There was no other way to respond, “Oh, but you have me. The real me. The me that I’ve been trying so futilely for years to suppress, in order to impress your other ego!” Again Vegeta laughed a manic sort of laughter, eyes closed and tearing, before he opened them up, “And now I get to have both. My self to be free for whom I am, and you,” Vegeta’s gaze turned, of all things, sultry, “The you I always knew you could be; were,” he purred.
Kakarott didn’t look like he was buying it, but in reality Vegeta knew there was nothing to be sold, “I tried to change myself to be more appealing to your,” he almost hissed in disgust, “Human side. My obsession poisoned me everyday! ‘Goku’ would insinuate this or that, and I would try to become it, to please him. To please you,” Vegeta spat at the ground, “Pathetic, I know, but my fixation had made me so. Don’t you see? You’ve freed me, at the same time you have freed yourself.”
Kakarott leaned in for a kiss. He was thoroughly surprised when Vegeta growled, “I’ll be the one to initiate things like kissing,” Vegeta stated, and then backhanded the other Sayian, blood appeared from the crack at the center of the other’s lips.
Kakarott licked away the crimson, a bitter yet sweet taste.
The surprise move had been enough for Kakarott to let loose of his restraining grip as he was shoved away. He resisted the urge to stroke the place Vegeta’s hand had contacted with his face. ‘Another human behavior I will over come,’ he thought to himself.
Vegeta wasn’t through with his rant though, “Sayians mate. Not for love, but for power. Do you have the wish for such power mating with me would bring?” The prince challenged.
Kakarott growled. “You dare ask me that? Do you have a death wish?”
“If you are not the sayian I think you are, then there is no reason to continue this farce, and I may as well have died by Frieza’s hand,” Vegeta crossed his arms. It was a bold and daring move. The stance left him vulnerable to anything Kakarott wanted to throw at him.
The statement was taken just as well as if the Prince had called him moronic. He was no idiot, nor was he a weak hearted fool. He was a sayian damn it; and there was only one way to show how sayian he really was.
Kakarott launched into an attack. Vegeta hadn’t been as self-assured as the stance had indicated. He was waiting for Kakarott’s reaction: one which he was sure would be aggression. He wasn’t disappointed as Kakarott lunged at him.
Vegeta’s instincts screamed both at him conflictingly. One side was screaming to fight, the other was rejoicing in the fact Kakarott was putting an effort into being dominate.
A third ki suddenly filled the area. Kakarott was distracted from his attack, and Vegeta mentally cursed the demi’s timing.
“What is he doing?” Kakarott growled down at the prince he had pinned beneath him.
‘I wish I knew,’ Vegeta thought. “I really couldn’t care less about your spawn right now,” he said out loud.
~o0o~
My heart sped up. Oh god no… I could feel that monster’s ki flare up. He knew I took off. FUCK FUCK FUCK! I didn’t think he’d notice. I lowered my ki, in hope he would think I stopped… or gave up. Kakarott’s ki only grew higher and I could sense Vegeta could no longer keep Kakarott there…and distracted.
There was no need for me to keep hidden any longer. With a burst of light I transformed into Super Sayian, causing my body to soar faster towards my destination. I have to get there… I can’t fail Vegeta. I can’t fail myself.
I went super Sayian 2 a second later. It sped me up and Kami’s look out came into my view. YES! My mind shouted as I saw the tall building. I flew up towards the top of it. The dew from the clouds wet my skin as I passed through them. I surprised the drops of water didn’t boil when they touched my skin, I felt as if I was burning up.
~o0o~
Dende looked down from the tower. His was still so stunned at what he had been witnessing for the last day to react. The world he was supposed to be Guardian of was crumbling. His champion was no more: Goku was gone as though he had never existed. In his stead was a monster: and the only hope for reprieve was another monster; Vegeta. ‘I should have never healed him back on my home planet,’ Dende looked down from the tower.
Mr. Popo stood and fretted as he watched his Master’s lack of reaction. The old Kami would have been doing something. This new young Master was so indecisive. Sure, the new Master had a good, pure heart, but he lacked knowledge for his prestigious position.
In a couple more moments the sayians would be here, and then everything would be lost.
If someone didn’t do something, “Go!” Mr. Popo spoke with an uncharacteristic tone of command.
Dende started at the sound of the black genies voice, “GO?”
If Mr. Popo had hair under his turban, he’d be ripping it out, “GO, run. You need to stay alive. Choose one of the rooms. They only know of the room of Spirit and Time. If they can’t sense your ki, they will assume you have gone there. HURRY!”
Even as Dende’s feet moved to obey the genie’s command, his mind was still slow to respond.
Gohan reached the top of the lookout, his feet touched down and he felt a sigh at his throat but he wasn’t ready yet. Kakarott was right on his ass. He needed to find Dende. Across the building he saw Mr. Popo making his way towards him. He was at a decent speed sprint and he was to Gohan in a few seconds.
The genie spoke lowly, “I sent Dende to hide…” Gohan nodded and glanced over his shoulder. Kakarott was almost there. He could hear Vegeta’s curses as they drew closer.
“Gohan… I have an idea…” He said the plan to the demi-Sayian and they began moving towards the room of spirit and time. The plan wasn’t the best… but it was the only hope they had. The only hope Earth had.
Kakarott was here.
His eyes narrowed as he searched the area. He felt two ki’s… He was suspicious as to why there was only two. Gohan and Mr. Popo were there… but where was the Earth’s guardian?
He let a smirk draw across his features. Vegeta touched down next to him. “Kakarott leave the boy alone.”
“I’m not here for the boy…” His words were cold but Vegeta knew exactly what he meant. He felt a gasp leave his lips. The dragonballs…
“You were trying to stall me… I’ll have to teach you a lesson when I return.” There was sudden pain at Vegeta’s brow and he fell back, clutching his face. “That’s just a taste of things to come… my Prince.” He was gone. Vegeta didn’t waste one second as he hurried to his feet and raced through the buildings. ‘Come on Kakarott, stall him somehow. Don‘t let him get to Gohan!’ Vegeta dearly wished for his Kakarott to save the day, once again.
Kakarott growled in frustration as he realized where he stood. Across the building. NOT where Gohan was. His eyes went to slits as he felt Vegeta’s ki moving. Kakarott put two fingers to his forehead and disappeared in a mess of blue and orange.
Vegeta could have smiled as he came into View of Gohan and Mr. Popo. The genie motioned for him to hurry. They all knew the maniac Kakarott would be there any second.
Vegeta slowed as he got to Gohan- then was thrown to the ground. Dark blue and orange rolled over one another until they hit a wall.
“Gohan- quickly! Get Kakarott into the room!” Gohan nodded sharply. His fingers grasped a hold of his father’s favorite gi and gripped onto his arm, pulling him and Vegeta as they tried to strangle each other.
Gohan’s arms strained to gain control of them as he got closer and closer to the door. With one final shove, the three sayians were in the room of Spirit and time.
Vegeta immediately let go of Kakarott and stepped away from the sayian- who got to his feet, ready to attack again.
Kakarott growled and stepped close to Vegeta. “So this was your… plan. My my… and I thought it was to distract me by seducing me. I do like the other one better…” He smirked and glanced at Gohan then to the door where Mr. Popo was chanting something.
His head titled and his eyebrow rose. “What is he saying?” he stepped closer to the genie but arms were suddenly holding him back, then he was on the floor. His head pounding as Vegeta and Gohan rushed to the door
Pain engulfed their whole bodies as they hit something clear. A… barrier…
They were sent to the white floor, confusion written on their faces.
Through the clear blue, Mr. Popo stood- a frown on his face and sweat at his forehead. The two sayians knew they were locked in and there was no way they could escape unless the genie freed them. Kakarott knew the same as he stood.
~o0o~
Mr. Popo sank to the prestigiously white tiled floor exhausted. He couldn’t feel their kis, so he knew that his warding spell had worked, but it had worked too well. Gohan and Vegeta had been trapped in the same room as his target: and there was no way to let them out without also letting out the monster Kakarott.
He looked up and his eyes immediately fixed onto Gohan’s look of disbelief and confusion.
Tears welled up in the genie’s eyes: tears of regret, tears of failure. He stood up clasped the physical door to the room in his chubby hand. Without looking up he shut it.
Mr. Popo would not risk the world. Not even to save a dear friend. As he closed the door on Gohan’s face, he wondered what kind of after life a genie who was capable of betrayal would face when his time finally came.
~o0o~
Gohan stared in disbelief at the shut door. How could he...? He saw the reason why he would but… Gohan shook his head. He trusted Mr. Popo. He could have at least let him and Vegeta out! He knew Vegeta was thinking the same next to him, his thoughts of the genie not as sugar coated.
Vegeta’s fists tightened. ‘When I get out of here that bastard is going to wish he was dead. I’m going to beat him into bloody pulp... unless, Kakarott gets to him first. He locked me in here- The prince of Sayians!! In here with Kakarott. Of all people. Kakarott is probably going to tear us apart, limb by limb.
The maniac grinned. Mr. Popo was a fool... to think he could keep him entrapped. He slowly moved past Gohan and Vegeta, who both seemed deep in thought and pissed off. His hand reached toward the blue wall and he jerked his hand back as pain shot through it. He growled and looked back to the other sayians. “What the fuck is going on?”
Neither Gohan or Vegeta had an answer for him.
~o0o~
Dende’s mind slowly calmed as he felt Kakarott’s ki shut and locked away from his current place and time. Thoughts finally started to flood his recently panicked mind. ‘Why was Gohan coming here? The dragonballs? I don’t have the dragonballs collected! Even if I did, I wouldn’t know what to wish for.’
