//o rose
thou art sick
the invisible worm
that flies in the night
in the howling storm
has found thy bed of crimson joy
and his dark secret love
does thy life destroy//
Sir William Blake

chapter fifteen / intruder

Her apartment was dark as she opened the door and dropped her keys on the foyer console table. She closed and locked the door behind her – leaning back against the cool wood with a sigh. It had not been an easy day and her body seemed to feel every moment, every restless moment of the past 48 hours. Her muscles ached, her head was sore, her heart….

She didn’t want to think about it.

She kicked off her shoes, dropped her handbag and briefcase right where she stood. She moved towards the bedroom, shrugging off her blazer, unbuttoning her top, zipping her skirt down into a puddle on the floor. She was naked by the time she threw herself onto the crisp clean sheets, the smooth cotton enveloping her, the faint scent of fresh linen drifting into her into sleep.

She felt the weight of the duvet come over her shoulders and warm fingers curl around her hip, pushing her into something solid. “Sleep,” He whispered in a husky haze, his fingertips caressing the cool silk of her cheek. “Dream of me.”

The words barely registered as she drifted into a dreamless slumber.

He was still there when she rose early the next morning. She woke at dawn by habit. But unlike habit, seeing Trowa lie next to her in bed was a mystery. He never stayed the whole night with her – and if he did it was because they forwent rest. He didn’t sleep, as far as she could tell. Seeing him lying beside her, one hand under her, the other resting on his toned stomach, rising lightly with every breath he took. His hair was tousled, his chin dusted with a golden beard. He was handsome – almost angelic as he slept.

And desirable. So very much so she was tempted to wake him with a slow, long lick. He was naked under her sheets – so was she.

She couldn’t even recall her innocent morning routine before him. Now she was a being of bliss, seeking acclaim through succumbing to the hedonistic pleasures of the flesh. She was so wanton she wondered how she could ever go back to that mundane routine.

He stirred in his sleep, startling her realization. Coffee. When he woke up he would probably want some – maybe drink it off her skin. She shivered at the idea, and rose from the sheets. She found her short silk robe on a nearby chair and started for the kitchen.

As she set the coffee up she felt a chill of cold air hit her bare legs and found herself staring at the open patio door. She looked around curiously – she didn’t recall leaving it open, then again, she barely recalled climbing into bed. She shut the door after letting her eyes sweep the balcony, locked it and drew the curtain back.

“I never wanted this,” A voice whispered against her ear, hands cupped her pelvis turning her into the cool blue eyes of the intruder.

“Heero,” She gasped, her eyes going wide.

“I never wanted this to happen,” He continued, his fingers kneading her hips, the silk sliding through his fingers. “I thought…I don’t know what I thought – but I knew, I knew it from the start, that you were mine.” The combination of the close proximity of his warm, solid frame and feel of his hands on her body were unraveling her supposedly resolved feelings. “He was right – I never saw what was there. I never knew how much you cared about me…how much I cared about you. Wanted you. Desired….desire you.”

“Heero,” She found her voice hoarse from disuse. This wasn’t supposed to be happening. Heero Yuy didn’t matter anymore. He wasn’tposeposed to make her feel like this. She was with Trowa – Trowa who was sleeping in the other room. What if he walked in? What if he kissed her? Trowa…Heero…it was too much for Relena to understand.

“Then I saw you with him, how amazing you were…how unbelievably sexy and I couldn’t understand why I had been so blind. Then at your office with the vibrator. God, I wanted to fuck you over your desk. It was like I couldn’t think, I couldn’t sleep. I kept seeing you, imagining it was me instead of him riding you, touching you…tasting you.”

He loomed over her, so close she could feel his erection pressing into her belly through the thick denim. His arousal seemed to fill the air, swirl around her head and consume her. She felt like she was on fire – his words, his body bringing her to shake in the knees.

“Then that morning when I found you, offered like a pagan sacrifice. Fuck.” The image seemed to run before his eyes and she realized how unsteady his usually steady frame was – he was trembling. “I didn’t mean to be so rough. I didn’t mean to not take my time and kiss you or touch you but I didn’t know, I didn’t think….I couldn’t. I wanted you so badly I was like a machine – and seeing you like that…Please, don’t be angry. Please, please don’t hate me. I needed you so badly…I’m sorry….”

She was becoming lightheaded. It was as if she had stepped into her utmost fantasy. The man she had loved and craved for so long, pouring his heart out to her, transforming before her eyes from the stoic soldier to the real man she knew lay beneath the armor.

“Then two nights ago, I came to you. I swore it would be different, that I would make myself clear and resolve everything – and I saw you. God, you were so beautiful writhing against those sheets, you were so lost in the passion you didn’t even see me…you said his name…and I was lost again. He could never care for you the way I do. He just wanted to use you...wanted to hurt you...I told him to stay away…”

Coldness struck her. “What?” She willed her body to stand perfectly still. “It was you?”

He kissed her. His hands cupped her face to his as he kissed her wildly, starving, like a man who’d found oasis in the desert. He kissed her like it was for the last time and she found herself returning it with equal fervor. His touch was so hot and filled with passion she felt as he is was scalding her, branding her with his touch.

His touch was not as deliberate or as expert as Trowa, but filled with so much tenderness and passion that the sensation alone turned her weak in the knees, into a pool of pleasure. The clumsy blindness was perfect. This was Heero Yuy, the man she held such ardent unrequited love for nine years. The man who swore he’d kill her. The man who’d swore he’d protect her.

Her taste overwhelmed him and he fell to his knees, bringing her with him. His body was tight with hers, his mouth ravenous. His tongue delved in and out, stroking caressing her.

The man she had ached for for nine long years was literally on his knees for her. The man who fucked half of her administration. The man who told her to mind his own business when she found him entwined with one of her most hated adversaries. The man who’d only considered her desirable the moment his old comrade started fucking her.

She wasn’t a vindictive person, but she knew what it was like to suc such feelings. Unrequited feelings, that were squandered and thrown to the wind. And he was going to pay for it.
