The Prince Bride

Chapter 16 "A Deal with Evil"

Suddenly Heero sat straight up in bed... A nightmare... that's all it was a nightmare.....

Uncle Howard flipped the page. "It was just ten days to the wedding, the King still lived but poor Heero's nightmares were getting worse and worse. Already
five of the staff had resigned owing to the screams and sudden attacks on anyone that entered Heero's bedchambers....."

Heero regained his breath from yet another nightmare, the sweat beaded on his skin and his eyes flashed wildly for a moment as he gradually escaped the grip of the
dream. With a determined look on his face he slipped out from under the covers and paused a moment to stretch his tired limbs. The skin rippled over
muscled nude body as Heero took the opportunity to appraise his form in the mirror. Slender legs, tapering waist, muscular chest, six pack to die for and a nice packa.... He looked good. Reached into a drawer he pulled out a pair of boxers and yanked them on. Grabbing the silky robe from the bed post he quickly exited the room and went in search of Princess Relena and Lord Treize.

He found them a few moments later, together, in the office. Idly Heero mused if they were joined at the hip, they always seemed to be together.

"See, I told you Heero wouldn't marry that bitch Relena!" Zechs crowed in triumph.

"Okay, okay so you're a smart kid, sometimes too smart for your own good now shut up." Howard replied and turned another page.

Heero barged into the office, not bothering to knock. In four strides he was across the room and facing Princess Relena over the broad expanse of a wooden desk. Cold blue eyes bored into those of the one he hated more than spiders, and considering his hatred of spiders ran extremely deep that was saying
something. "Listen up Princess Relena and listen good."

A startled Relena raised her eyes to meet the icy gaze of her betrothed. Heero took a deep breath, this wasn't going to be easy.

"I love Duo and I always have and I know now that I always will. If you force this marriage to go ahead then all you will find in the morning will be a corpse." Heero leaned over the deep pink desk as he spoke, making sure that his words were heard.

Relena blinked and then blinked again. The short speech that her fiancée had just given adding up to the most words he had ever strung together in her presence. The princess cocked her head to one side and contemplated the threat.

"Well I could never hurt you Heero so I guess the wedding is off."

Heero gripped the edge of the pink desk hard and blinked. A look of confusion, disbelief then distrust all flashed over his handsome features before they were replaced with a look that simply translated as "Huh?" Never had Relena given in this easily.

The princess got up from her desk and walked over to the fireplace where Treize stood, toasting his rear with the heat and wishing he was experiencing the heat
of a different kind, but that would have to come later. He eagerly thought of the blonde Arab tied to the bed post in his room. His mind was drawn back as Relena halted next to him.

"Treize dear, you returned the Pirate back to his ship did you not?"

Treize bowed deeply then bolted upright with a yelp as his rear received a little more toasting than necessary. Rubbing his overheated backside he replied as dignified as he could. "Of course my lady."

Princess Relena gave a rather sickly sweet smile. "Well then, all we need to do is simply alert him."

Relena turned back to face a still stunned Heero. "Hee-love, are you certain that he still wants you? After all it was you who did the leaving back in the fire swamp."

Heero's face paled and he cringed at the pet name.

"Not to mention that pirates are not known to be reliable..." Relena continued, her face a mask of coolness.

Heero glared at the princess and pushed his chin forward. "My Duo will always come for me." Well, he had only come once and that was at the base of the canyon when things had gotten a little heated but they hadn't had a chance since then to explore the possibilities any further, but Duo had said he would always come for him and Heero was looking forward to testing those words further... if he ever got away from the pink peril that was.

Relena nodded and then schooled her features to appear to be thinking of ways to help her poor delusional betrothed. Her eyes lit up and Heero missed the flash of malice, had he caught it then he would have been a little more concerned when Relena spoke next.

"I suggest a deal. You write four copies of a letter and I'll send my four fastest ships, each in one direction to find the man. The Dread Pirate Shinigami is usually near Sank? or is it Sink? No, I think it's Sunk..."

Heero rolled his eyes.

"... Yeah it's Sunk around this time of the year. they'll run up the white flag and deliver your letter."

Heero looked skeptical, he was still trying to figure out the Sank bit and knew there had to be a catch to this somewhere, he just couldn't figure out where.

"If Duo still wants you... then bless you both." Relena's eyes narrowed and her teeth clenched as she spoke those words, then suddenly the sickly sunny smile was back and she moved closer to Heero who cringed at her nearness and smell of her perfume. "If he doesn't, please consider me an alternative to suicide?"

Heero thought it over. To all appearances it seemed that Relena was indeed genuine in her offer, but Heero knew appearances could be deceptive.

"Are we agreed?"

Unable to find any glaring flaws in the plan, other than the one he'd neglected to add himself, that being if Duo didn't want him then he would still rather kill himself than become this pink princesses whore, he figured he had no choice but to agree to the plan. He nodded his consent.

~later~

Princess Relena and Lord Treize were enjoying a quiet stroll through the forest near the castle when Treize paused and smiled at Relena. "Your prince is very charming my lady, simple, but charming."

Relena smiled back, missing the touch of sarcasm in Treize's voice. "Yes he is. He won my heart when I first saw him, I was out riding my horse you know."

Treize nodded. "Ahh, love at first sight. Such a rare occurrence these days."

Relena sighed dramatically. "Yes it is, that is why it is so important for us to cure him of this dreadful illness called gayism. I mean, can you
imagine my love with another man? We simply cannot allow that to happen."

Treize didn't really see the illness gayism as an illness, it was more of an affliction to him, after all he suffered from it himself but had learnt to deal with it, rather satisfactorily he might add, and thought of the sated blonde back in his chambers. But he didn't dare let the princess know of his *little problem*, not for a while yet anyway. If things went according to plan and he was able to blame Heero's death on the kingdom of OZ then he'd be able to declare martial law and take over. After all, what did a princess know about war?

Relena stopped their stroll beside a huge old willow tree, the trunk was broad and covered with knots and bumps. "Tell me, how is our dear pirate doing anyway?"

Treize smiled as he turned to face the princess. "He's completely recovered and I'm starting him on the machine today. Would you care to join me for some
entertainment?"

Relena turned a little green and waved her hand. "No I don't think so. It wouldn't be proper for me to observe. I trust your abilities to torture our friend good enough that he begs for his death. That will teach him to try to take away from me the one I love. besides I have a wedding to finish planning and that takes a lot of work. It has to be perfect you know!

Treize bowed. "As you wish." He turned back to the tree and began to fiddle around amongst the various knots and gnarls in the bark of the tree trying to locate the one that would open the secret door and admit him to the Pit of Despair. "Where the hell is that blasted thing?! I swear one of these days I'm gonna label it. I can never find the damn thing!"

Relena pushed past him and reached out. Her fingers wrapped around a protrusion about three inches from where Treize had been searching. The secret door in the trunk slid open.

Treize huffed and put his hand on his hips. "How did you managed to find it?"

Relena smiled coyly. "It's just a case of memorizing the feel. Touch it, play with it, learn the texture and every dip and curve, commit it to memory
and then you will never have a problem locating it again." With a wink Relena departed.

Treize watched, stunned for a moment before the heat flared in his groin as the princesses words hit home. He shook his head and quickly disappeared inside the tree.
