For the next two days, Vegeta did nothing but sit at Kakarot’s side and worry over him. His sharp eyes took in every movement, every painful breath that His mortal lover took and tried to think of any solution to make him feel better, but always came up empty. The helpless God dropped His face in His hands, trying to keep His emotions at bay. Crying would solve nothing. He needed to help Kakarot. His mind suddenly brought Him back to the day Kakarot broke his limbs. Not long after the horrible incident, Vegeta tried giving him water, but only managed to break his clavicle in the process when Kakarot tried to get up. He only pressed His hand into him as lightly as possible…gentler than He treated him even before he became ill and yet…and yet…He still hurt him. Vegeta didn’t understand. Why was Kakarot so brittle? What did this mean? What was wrong with him? He let out a pitiful moan in His misery. He just wanted this all to be over with. He didn’t know how much more He could take.
The God lifted His head when Kakarot let out a moan and a pained gasp then slowly opened his eyes. “Ve-geta.”
Vegeta wanted to grab a hold of Kakarot’s hand in a comforting gesture, but quickly stopped Himself when He remembered how fragile Kakarot was. Instead, He settled for carefully brushing his arm with the back of His knuckles. “I’m here.”
Kakarot turned his tired gaze toward his immortal love and began to tremble; in what, Vegeta wasn’t sure. “There’s…There’s something…I have to tell You.” The man sounded like it was too painful to speak.
Vegeta shook His head as He buried His gloved fingers in Kakarot’s matted hair. “Shhh, don’t talk Kakarot. S-Save your strength.” He ended weakly as those damn tears began to build in His eyes again.
Kakarot wanted to shake his head, but found that he couldn’t. “No. I have t-…to tell You.” He took a moment to catch his breath and get his bearings before continuing. “Quite some time ago, about a week or two after You left, I…I went into the nearby town and…went to a pub. There…There was…a-a girl.” He clenched his eyes shut in fear of looking at his beloved’s reaction. “I…I didn’t know what I was thinking…I was alone and I missed You. I went with her, but-“
“It’s okay, Kakarot. I forgive you.” Vegeta was still trying to hold in His tears, but they fell anyway as His vulnerable heart began to break all over again. Kakarot slept with another…all because He wasn’t there.
Kakarot opened his eyes then and his own tears fell when he saw the state his beloved was in. “Vegeta…I didn’t…I changed my mind. I didn’t sleep with her.” There was a pause as Vegeta took in the information while Kakarot weakly lifted his arm to settle his hand on a golden moistened face. “I love You.”
Vegeta took in a few breaths before relief finally hit Him. More tears fell as His heart beat rapidly at the wonderful feeling. “Oh, Kaka-rot.” His voice cracked as He held that warm hand to His face and nuzzled into the palm when trembling fingers caressed His wet cheek.
The God looked back into dazed and hazy eyes as Kakarot continued to speak as if He hadn’t spoken at all. “I love You so much…I want to spend eternity with You. You gave my pointless life meaning. Y-You…drove me…to find You…to find my purpose. I…I still haven’t seen Your true form yet. I want to see it…I want to stay with You…I l-love…”
Vegeta watched through blurry eyes while Kakarot spoke as if an old man at the end of his life and just like that…Kakarot went limp. The hand that Vegeta held no longer caressed His face…no longer held the life that it had a moment ago. Vegeta grabbed a hold of it as if it was the only thing keeping Him alive. “Kakarot?” There was no response in Kakarot’s suddenly lifeless body, no pulse was felt through the tender flesh of his wrist, not even so much as a spark of life was shown through those blank eyes… “Kakarot!” Panic immediately gripped Vegeta as He shook the still, fragile body on the bed, no longer in fear of hurting him. “Kakarot, no! No! No don’t leave me…don’t leave me! Come back…don’t go…you can’t go…” He ended pathetically as a fresh wave of gold tears poured from His eyes and fell to the floor like pellets of rain. Slowly, mechanically, He scrambled toward the broken torso and clutched it to Himself then broke down into a hysterical fit and bawled. “Ahhhh! Kakarot! Don’t leave m-me! I-I love you! You c-can’t! Not again! N-Not again!” He repeated His words over and over as if they’d bring His beloved back.
However, it didn’t take long for Vegeta to forget His loss momentarily when He noticed how cold the room was suddenly. He saw His breath through His sobbing and for some reason, couldn’t help but think why that was. Suddenly, a noise brought His attention to a corner of the room and He slowly turned His head in that direction, still holding His beloved. However, nothing prepared Him for the sight that greeted Him. It appeared to be some sort of large dog that was…made from ice. Vegeta could practically see the cold wisps drift away from the jagged icicles on the creature. Its eyes were white, in fact, He wondered if it had eyes at all. The creature seemed to let out a whimper and a growl at the same time. Vegeta looked to the body in His arms then back to the creature. In fear that it would take His beloved from Him, He held the body tighter and put His arm in between him and the creature in a protective gesture. The creature followed the movement then confused Vegeta by quickly taking a few steps back and made a loud whimper, but before Vegeta could react, He was suddenly standing outside in the cold. Utterly confused, He looked around Himself only to find His creator standing next to Him with a hand on His shoulder.
Through big, confused, and tear-filled eyes, Vegeta stared at the God who gave Him life as He held the body in His arms. “Creator?”
The God gave His son a sad smile before taking a step closer and inspected the corpse in the other’s arms. “It was expected. It appears he had the same illness his father and grandfather had. I knew it was only a matter of time.”
Vegeta took in a few panicked gasps as He held the body closer. “No…” He muttered brokenly. “Creator, please…bring him back. Bring him back for me. I’ll do anything!” He shouted in His grief, completely forgetting about the situation inside.
The God faced Him and answered slowly, carefully. “I already have. He’s waiting in there for You.”
Vegeta took a step back in surprise. “You…You mean…that creature…w-was…”
“Precisely. His last words gave You his answer. He wants to stay with You.” The creator spoke calmly with a small smile as He waited for Vegeta to comprehend the news.
“T-Then…why did You teleport me out here?” He asked, confusion taking over His grief.
The creator sighed. “Well, I had a feeling he’d do something drastic and I didn’t know how it would’ve affected You.” Vegeta gave Him a confused look. The God sighed again. “Maybe he’s calmed down a little. Let’s see.” He took a hold of Vegeta’s shoulder again and before He could blink, they were back in the room again.
Vegeta froze when He saw the creature standing in the same spot He saw it before. It was whimpering uncontrollably as ice seemed to form around it. Vegeta took a gander around the room and noticed that everything was coated in the freezing substance. “Vegeta, put him down. You’re scaring Him.” The creator ordered gently.
Vegeta clutched the body to Himself tighter and looked at the creature again in sad skepticism. After a moment, He relaxed His hold on His beloved’s corpse then set him down on the frozen cold bed. He winced when He heard and felt the once warm sheets crack and break under the body’s weight. He looked at the haunting face that spoke a cruel death then leaned over and ran His fingers through that wild hair one last time and placed a kiss on still lips before closing those empty eyes when He pulled away. Another loud whimper brought His attention back to the creature, who He still remained skeptical at. “It’s alright. You’re okay now. You’re just in a different form.” The creator tried to coax the creature from its hiding place, but it growled and whined at the strange God, who took a step back. “You try talking to Him, Vegeta. He doesn’t know me yet.”
Vegeta gave another skeptical look at His creator then at the creature before doing what He was told. Cautiously, He advanced toward the creature then kneeled on the floor when He was a few feet away from it. He held out a hand and spoke evenly in a sad tone, still grieving over His loss, but not being able to at the same time. “Come here. It’s okay. I won’t hurt You.”
Slowly, the creature with blinding white eyes and jagged purple and blue ice for fur crept out and towards Vegeta, ignoring the offered hand and going straight up to His face. Vegeta leaned back at the unexpected action, but didn’t sense any danger when the creature pressed its cold nose to His cheek. He calmed somewhat and placed a hand on the cold muzzle. “Kakarot? Is that You?”
A few whines were His answer as it nuzzled its nose more into His cheek and neck. Suddenly, the jagged ice that seemed to make up the creature’s body shrank into fluffy white snow and the white eyes turned to a familiar chocolate brown. Vegeta heard the creator let out a breath behind Him, but ignored it when He turned His attention to those eyes. “Kakarot?” The creature whined again and licked His face in what seemed to be recognition. Vegeta looked at His beloved’s new form in shock then turned to the creator. “What-?” The words were stuck in His throat.
The God smiled then came closer to kneel next to Vegeta. “I’ll explain everything once He turns back into His human form.” He turned His attention to Kakarot’s new form. “All You have to do is remember what You looked like when You were human.” The creator spoke calmly, but happily.
Kakarot stared at the creator for some time until finally, His body shifted and changed into the familiar body He knew. Vegeta gasped when He saw His lover change right in front of Him then quickly turned back to the body lying on the bed, making sure it was still there, to the living, breathing form in front of Him. “K-Ka-karot.” His voice broke as more tears made themselves known and embraced the naked form of His fated one. “You’re alive. You’re h-here.” He placed His hand behind the head of wild hair and kept it in place.
Kakarot smiled and cried His own set of golden tears as He returned the embrace. “Vegeta.” He whispered back.
After a little while, Vegeta pulled back slightly to place His eager lips on compliant ones. Kakarot returned the kiss with as much vigor and held His lover’s head in place, not wanting the kiss to end anytime soon. However, the other presence in the room started to get a little uncomfortable and made Himself known by clearing His throat rather loudly. They eventually parted and touched foreheads for a moment before pulling away completely. “How are You here? What’s going on?” Vegeta asked Kakarot before asking His next question at the other God.
Kakarot looked up at the creator with the same confused expression as Vegeta. The older God cleared His throat again before beginning with His explanation. “Well, as I’m sure You’re both aware, Kakarot was ill with the same disease as His father and grandfather, which ended His mortal life. Now, He is a God.” Vegeta and Kakarot looked at each other at that news.
“But…how? Why?” Kakarot asked.
The creator smiled. “You did say You wanted to be with Him, didn’t You?” That comforting smile widened when Kakarot nodded. “Well, since I know Vegeta didn’t explain it to You as well as He should’ve, but once You agree to be with a God for eternity, You become one Yourself.”
After a few moments pause of soaking in the information, Vegeta spoke up. “So, why that form?”
“Yes. What was that?” Kakarot wondered.
The creator took a moment to gather His words so He could explain it as best as He could. “Kakarot’s spirit spoke freedom and innocence. His urge to be everywhere made me think of a form that He could run in for long distances, but at the same time, look fierce for His stubborn attitude. The ice and snow speak of His forgiveness and a way for Him to protect Himself that gave Him more control, like the way He fought.” He paused to think for a moment. “Perhaps I didn’t give Him enough control. He could flash freeze someone and kill them instantly.”
Kakarot gasped in shock at the thought. “Wha?! But, I don’t want to kill anyone!”
The creator nodded, knowing full well of Kakarot’s kind nature. “That’s all part of being a God Kakarot. You can easily hurt someone by trying to help them, which is why You need to be more careful around humans.” Vegeta explained.
Kakarot looked at His hands and body as His form began to shake, the situation at hand finally hitting Him. He was…a God. He was no longer mortal, which meant He had all the power in the world. It meant that He was on Vegeta’s level, but at the same time, He had to take in the account of the world full of easily destroyed humans. Just one wrong move or thought could kill someone. For a moment, He believed that this was all a dream. He didn’t want to believe it, but at the same time, He wanted it more than anything. He wanted to be on the same level as Vegeta and not be treated like some sort of fragile doll. He wanted Vegeta’s respect and attention more than anything. He wanted Him to be true and real and not hold anything back. “I should probably explain how Your powers work.” The creator interrupted His chaotic thoughts as He turned His attention back to Him. He appeared to be trying to act indifferent to His surroundings as if they didn’t affect Him and Vegeta was trying to suppress a shiver. It took a moment for Kakarot to notice that the room was getting colder. “Whenever You feel anxious, angry, sad…any sort of negative emotion, Your surroundings will drop in temperature and it will either blizzard or rain ice. When You feel any positive feelings, it will either snow or nothing will happen at all. Your feelings control Your power, so You must be careful in what You feel and keep Your emotions in check. I know it probably sounds impossible now, but in time, You’ll learn to control it and it will be simple for You.”
Kakarot clenched His hands and His shaking stopped. He gave the creator a hard glare and frowned. “You’re right. It does sound impossible.” He stared down at His hands again. “I’ll never get used to this.” He whispered in a cold tone.
Vegeta took a hold of His hands, causing them to open and accept His. “Why ice?” He directed His question toward the God next to Him, but kept His gaze on His beloved.
The creator smiled thoughtfully. “I thought it seemed fitting. Kakarot is innocent and purity. Snow. You, Angel of Death, are fiery, hot-tempered, ruthless. Fire. Both are opposites but at the same time, complete one another.”
Kakarot and Vegeta stared at one another in thought. “I suppose it is sort of fitting.” Vegeta muttered in awe.
“Of course it is!” The creator bellowed.
Both ignored Him though when Kakarot placed a cool hand on a heated face. He tried not to moan at the intriguing contact. “So does this mean we can be together? Forever? I won’t die? I…I cannot be harmed?”
Vegeta nodded and closed His eyes for a moment to take in the odd sensation of His lover’s body temperature. “Yes. For-ever.” His voice broke as more tears streamed down His face. He held the cold hand tighter to His face then suddenly thought that He might be holding His dead lover’s hand to Himself. He had to open His eyes to confirm that He was indeed alive and standing right in front of Him, smiling His favorite smile. He briefly wondered if He was losing His mind.
Vegeta flinched when He felt a hand touch the back of His head and held still when He felt a dull warmth go through it. The warmth suddenly relaxed Him when He no longer felt tense, afraid, and heart broken. When His stress was soothed away, the hand left Him. Kakarot noticed Vegeta’s new demeanor and the tears stopped. He looked to the creator, “What did You do?”
The God gave Him a sad smile. “Don’t worry, I just calmed Him down. He seems to just fall apart whenever His chosens’ pass on. Apparently, He couldn’t grasp the fact that You came back. It’s not pretty when a God falls…” He trailed off, not wanting to talk about the subject further.
However, Kakarot seemed curious about the subject anyway, but could tell by the other’s expression that that’ll have to wait another time. He turned His attention back to Vegeta when He saw Him smile out of the corner of His eye. “Are You alright now?” He whispered closely to His face.
Vegeta nodded, never letting go of the hand still on His cheek. “Yes. Everything is perfect now.” He seemed to say in a daze until His eyes seemed to focus and He pulled Kakarot into His arms. “Just don’t leave me again.”
Kakarot carefully returned the embrace and nuzzled the other’s neck. “I won’t. I promise.”
After a few moments of enduring the loveable sight, the creator cleared His throat again, but in an awkward manner. “So, it looks like I’m no longer needed here. Unless You’re curious about anything else, Angel of Death?”
Vegeta pulled Himself out of the embrace and turned to His creator in slight irritation. “Creator, how many times have I told You to call me Vegeta?”
The God smirked. “And how many times have I told You to call me Kami?” Vegeta looked away and crossed His arms. Kami’s smirk widened before turning His gaze to Kakarot. “Call me if You ever need any help, Kakarot. I’ll answer.” He winked at Him before disappearing in a blink of an eye.

Yes! Finally got that part out of the way! If anyone’s curious, the illness I gave Kakarot is a rare blood disease called Thalassemia. It’s genetic and has a ton of symptoms, so they’re not all in there. One of them you all probably guessed is fatigue, the others are lack of hunger, fragile bones, shortness of breath, and heart failure. I think there were others I was gonna put in, but I was in a hurry to get this done, which probably explains why it sounds rushed. >_> I hope you all enjoyed it anyway. :) More to come.
