Chapter Two - Hiding


Kai shifted gears and put his foot down.
As soon as Kai started speeding up the car behind them also sped up. Someone leaned out the window and started shooting at them.
Kai gave a slight grunt as a bullet pierced his arm and another grazed his shoulder. Rei saw it even though it was on the opposite side of him.
Rei undid his seat belt and turned around in his seat to get a look at the guys behind them.

Somehow they looked familiar but Rei heard Kai grunt again and looked to see that another bullet had gone into his shoulder.

“Do you have anything to shoot back?” Rei asked.
“Under my seat,” Kai said.

Rei leaned forward into Kai’s lap and reached under the bluenette’s seat.
His hand touched something metal and he grabbed it.

“Got it,” Rei said.

Sitting up with the gun in his hand.
Rei cocked the gun and aimed it at the car behind them keeping low so he wouldn’t get shot.
Rei aimed and pulled the trigger he watched as the car’s motor started to smoke. Then it burst into flames throwing the hood off.

“Nice,” Kai said approvingly.
“Oh god,” Rei said sitting back in shock and putting his seatbelt back on, “I remember who they are.”

Kai slammed on the brakes throwing Rei forward who felt very glad he’d put his seat belt back on.

“How?” Kai asked shouted and turning to him.
“They came to my village in search of guardian spirits. That’s how I got my scars,” Rei shouted back.
“You can’t go home,” Kai said turning back around and continuing to drive.
“Why not?” Rei asked astounded as Kai turned down a street heading away from his home.
“Because if you recognised them they sure as hell will have recognised you,” Kai said.

Rei was about to say something but just humphed and sat back in the seat fuming over how anyone could treat him like this.
They sat in silence for a while until Kai broke it.

“Did they find any?” Kai asked softly.
“Find any what?” Rei snapped.
“Any guardian spirits,” Kai said his voice still soft.

A voice in Kai’s head said that the guy next to him was fuming and not to push.
Rei sighed and sunk in the seat.

“The elders refused to tell them. My village had five guardian spirits,” Rei said, “Galeon, Galux, Galzzy and Galmon.”
“That was only four. What is the fifth one to weak to even mention,” Kai said.

Rei sat up straight and spun to face the bluenette ready to strangle him.

“Drigger isn’t weak. It takes nearly all my energy to keep him hidden,” Rei growled, “He could beat nearly any guardian spirit I asked him to.”

When he had said this, his eyes went wide and he clasped his hands over his mouth.
Kai turned his head and looked at him.

“So you’re Drigger’s keeper,” Kai asked.

Rei started shivering afraid that he’d get hurt. Experience had taught him never to tell anyone about Drigger even friends.
Kai noticed him shivering in fear.

“It’s alright. I’m not going to hurt you. Dranzer wouldn’t allow me to hurt another keeper anyway,” Kai said, “But it’s all the more reason for you to not go home. If those guys catch you, you know what will happen.”

Kai turned the car down an alleyway and parked it in the shadows out in front of a large warehouse.
Rei got out of the car and looked around him before following Kai into the warehouse.
On their entrance they were met by a very irate dark blue-haired boy.

“Where the hell have you been and who’s the kitty-kat?” the boy yelled.
“Shut up Tyson it’s none of your business and leave Rei alone. He’s one of us and hide my car before it’s spotted,” Kai ordered.

Tyson walked over and stood face to face with Rei.

“Okay then,” Tyson said grinning, “We call this place hell when Kai’s around but when he’s not we call it home.”

Rei couldn’t help but grin. Kai just glared at Tyson and headed for a small office on the other side of the warehouse. Upon reaching it he walked in and slammed the door shut with a loud bang that echoed through the warehouse making Rei flinch.

“Excuse me,” Tyson said, “I have a car to hide.”
“And I have bullets to extract from Beelzebub over there,” Rei said giving Tyson a small smile.
Tyson gave Rei a pat on the back and said, “Good luck and if he kills you I’ll make sure you get a nice funeral buddy.”

Tyson left the warehouse and Rei walked over to the office where Kai was.
He didn’t even knock he just walked straight in to find Kai shirtless and digging at the wounds in his arm and shoulder with a pocketknife trying to get the bullets out.
Rei slammed the door shut behind him making Kai spin around.

“Do you mind?” Kai snapped.

Rei walked over to Kai and pushed him into a sitting position on the couch. Then straddling Kai’s lap Rei took the pocketknife from Kai’s hand and started to remove the bullets with a hell of a lot more grace then Kai’s hacking.

“I can do it myself ,” Kai growled trying to push Rei off.
Rei clamped his legs down gripping onto Kai and continued what he was doing.
“I’m more qualified to do this than you are,” Rei stated.
“You have a degree in psychology and massage that definitely doesn’t make you qualified for bullet extraction,” Kai growled then gave a hiss when the knife hit the bullet.

The pain caused Kai to grab Rei’s arms in a tight grip.

“For your information I’m also qualified to do surgery and even if I wasn’t I could do this a hell of a lot better than you could,” Rei said lowering his head so he could see the bullet wound in Kai’s bicep better.
“Oh bite me,” Kai said.

Rei’s head snapped up so he was nose-to-nose and eye-to-eye with Kai.

“Don’t tempt me,” Rei growled in a sultry voice.

They stared at each other for a few seconds before Kai closed the gap and kissed Rei hard on the lips. Rei kissed back just as hard.
Kai’s hands went from where he had a grip on Rei’s arms sliding down to the bottom of Rei’s work shirt. Kai slid his hands up under the shirt and his hands started to roam Rei’s body causing Rei to shiver in pleasure.
Kai ran his finger across Rei’s lower back where a scar happened to be causing Rei to push his hips forward at the feeling. Rei’s groin collided with Kai’s making the bluenette throw his head back and moan in pleasure.

Rei lent forward and started to lick and suckle on Kai’s now exposed neck. Kai’s hands gripped Rei’s hips and pulled him forward as much as he could so that every move that Rei made, would make him feel the pleasure he had before. Rei grinned to himself and started to kiss the juncture of Kai’s neck while his hands slid down Kai’s chest.
Kai’s hands had reached Rei’s nipples so he ran his fingers over them. Rei gasped at the sensation and rocked his hips forward in reply. Rei abandoned Kai’s neck to look the bluenette in the eye. Kai looked back at him before Rei lent forward and claimed his lips in a passionate kiss.

“Kai where are you?” a male voice echoed through the warehouse.

Kai ignored it pulling his hands out of Rei’s shirt and entwining them in Rei’s hair.

“Damn it Kai where are you hiding?” the voice called again.
Rei pulled back and looked at Kai whispering, “You should answer him you know.”
“But I don’t want too,” Kai said pouting.

Rei shook his head before giving Kai a quick kiss on the lips and removing himself from the bluenette’s lap.

“I’m going to kill him,” Kai growled as he stood up causing Rei to laugh.

Kai walked past Rei giving his long hair a playful tug.

“Don’t go too far I haven’t finished removing those bullets,” Rei said.
“I won’t,” Kai said as he threw open the office-door and walked out.

Rei followed and looked around the warehouse for the person who had called out to Kai
Standing in the center of the warehouse was a short boy with dark purple coloured hair and rust red eyes. He was dressed in light brown shirt and green cargo pants.

“What do you want Ian,” Kai said flatly.
“Tyson was saying something about you bringing back a guy who claims to be one of us,” Ian said hotly, “You can’t keep hauling in lost causes.”

Rei stepped out from where he was hiding behind Kai.

“Oh,” Ian said fumbling slightly because Rei had heard the insult, “Uh.”
“If you want me to prove myself then fine. I can call out Drigger anytime,” Rei said his pupils narrowing to slits preparing himself to release the guardian spirit.

Ian looked Rei up and down.

“No that’s okay,” Ian stuttered he turned to Kai and said, “Heard you had a run in with the goon squad.”
“Ian before you demanded my presence I was in the middle of something very important now if you don’t mind go find Johnny and amuse yourself,” Kai said.
Ian looked at Rei then Kai and grinned, “Oh what exactly did I interrupt?”
Kai hesitated for a second before saying, “I was having bullets taken out of my arm.”
“Sure and I have a pole shoved up my butt,” Ian said sarcastically.
“You soon will if you don’t disappear,” Kai growled menacingly.

Rei was trying hard not to laugh at the exchange between the two.

“Alright, alright, I’m going,” Ian said before turning on his heels and marching towards a large staircase which he began to climb when he was at the top he leaned over the railing and said, “Oh and Kai remember, prepare before entering.”
“Ian,” Kai yelled.

Ian bolted through the door at the top of the stairs.

“Nice friends you got,” Rei said from where he stood beside Kai.
Kai turned to him and said, “Ian is one of the ones that I could probably consider even close to normal out of them all.”
“Would you consider me normal?” Rei asked moving so that his and Kai’s bodies were barely inches apart.
“If you consider exotic, mysterious and sexy normal then yes you’re very, very normal,” Kai whispered before closing the gap and kissing Rei.
“I knew it,” Ian said his voice breaking through their thoughts and making the two pull slightly away from each other.
“Shoot me now,” Kai said letting his head drop to Rei’s shoulder.

Rei laughed and patted Kai’s back comfortingly.

“I never got your name,” Ian said leaning on the rail at the top of the stairs.
“Rei Kon,” Rei said looking up at Ian.
“Ian can I ask you something?” Kai asked the dark purple haired man lifting his head from Rei’s shoulder.
“Yeah sure shoot,” Ian said.
“Oh the temptation,” Kai whispered softly before asking his friend, “Why do you plague my existence?”
“Cause Bryan and Tala like me,” Ian said matter-of-factly, “And we’ve been friends since we were little.”
“Thank-you for reminding me. I forgot about it for a second,” Kai said dropping his head back down on Rei’s shoulder where he kissed the juncture of Rei’s neck and shoulder.
“If Rei is one of us now, on the run I mean, don’t you think you should get his stuff from his home,” Ian suggested.
“I can do it,” Tyson said walking through the front door of the warehouse, “Where do you live?”
“Galeon Apartments, 32 Middle Road, apartment X35,” Rei gasped enjoying Kai’s actions, “I can come with you and help.”
“No it’s okay I can see you’re busy,” Tyson said grinning.

Rei felt Kai grin against his neck.

“Hang on a second,” Kai said bringing his head up to look at Rei, “Galeon Apartments. Didn’t you say one of your villages guardian spirits was called Galeon.”
“Yes Lee, Galeon’s keeper, owns the apartment complex but he and Michael, his boyfriend, are living at Michael’s place in America. Oh Michael has a guardian spirit as well. I think its called Trygle,” Rei said putting his head to the side.
“Do you know any-one else with guardian spirits?” Ian asked coming down the stairs.
“Yeah Mariah is the keeper of Galux, Kevin’s the keeper of Galmon, Gary’s the keeper of Galzzy. Umm and Gary’s boyfriend Steve is the keeper of Tryhorn. Michael and Steve’s friend’s Emily, she’s also my receptionist, and Eddy are the keepers of Trygator and Trypio. I think my best friend Max has one but I’m not too sure oh and there’s Kenny, Emily’s boyfriend, but he isn’t the keeper of Dizzi. Well he is in a way but…,” Rei said stopping and looking thoughtful.
“What do you mean Kenny isn’t the keeper of Dizzi but he is?” Tyson asked.
“Well there was this little accident, he was electrocuted, and Dizzi, her real name is Dizzara, got trapped in Kenny’s laptop. Don’t ask me how but she did,” Rei explained.
“Oh well then technically he is the keeper,” Ian said, “Well Tyson let’s get moving we have to get Rei’s stuff. Johnny are you coming?”
Suddenly a boy with rusty red colored hair stuck his head out the door at the top of the stairs and said, “What was that?”
“Do you want to come and help Tyson and me get our new pal’s stuff?” Ian asked.
Johnny looked at Rei and gave a nod of acknowledgement then turned to Ian and said, “Yeah hang on a sec.”

Johnny disappeared for a bit, then walked out the door with a knapsack on his shoulder.

“Have to get something while we’re out,” Johnny said running down the stairs.
“You sure you don’t need my help?” Rei asked throwing Tyson the keys to his apartment.
“Nope we got it,” Tyson said and he, Ian and Johnny exited the warehouse.
Kai grabbed hold of Rei and was just about to kiss him when Ian stuck his head back in the front door of the warehouse and said, “Tala, Robert and Bryan won’t be back till tomorrow morning. Spencer and Hillary are at her house, hopefully it blows up and kills them both, and Enrique and Oliver are asleep upstairs. So keep it down.”

Ian left the warehouse closing the door behind him.

“Is there going to be anymore interruptions tonight,” Kai asked the ceiling of the warehouse, “No. Good.”

With that Kai grabbed Rei and pulled him close kissing him passionately. Rei responded equally as passionate. When Rei felt Kai lick his lower lip Rei opened his mouth granting Kai entrance.
Kai explored every inch of Rei’s mouth reveling in the taste of him.

When the two broke apart Kai said breathlessly, “You taste like caramel.”
“Oh really?” Rei asked.
“Well I’m not actually positive,” Kai said, “But I can make sure.”
“Not right now,” Rei said, “I have got those bullets to extract.”

Rei turned and walked back towards the office and found the knife that he had been using before it had been hastily discarded.
Rei saw a bottle of whisky in a cabinet by the desk so he walked over and grabbed it. Undoing the lid he poured some on the blade of the knife before motioning for Kai to sit.
Kai sat in the desk’s chair and Rei kneeled between his legs.
Rei started to remove the bullets seeing Kai flinch occasionally

“You know you’re taking this quite well,” Kai said watching Rei’s face.
“Taking what quite well?” Rei asked removing one bullet he covered the blade in whisky again and started on another.
“Being literally kidnapped. I’ve forbidden you to go home. You probably won’t be able to go to work tomorrow, if ever, and I’m going to have to lock you up in this warehouse,” Kai said.
Rei looked up at Kai and said, “You can’t lock me up anywhere. Now that that’s straight the reason I’m taking this so well is probably because I know what these guys are capable of.”

Rei went back to work.

“What do you mean I can’t lock you up?” Kai asked, “What if I tied you to my bed?”
Rei looked up and grinned, “You wouldn’t have too. I’d lay there willingly.”

Kai grinned and lent forward kissing Rei.

Rei pulled back and frowned, “At this rate I’m never going to get these bullets out.”
Kai pouted down at Rei and said, “One more and I’ll let you finish.”
“Okay but just one,” Rei said sternly but he couldn’t help but let a big grin cross his face.

Kai leaned forward entangling his fingers in Rei’s hair and kissed him softly at first but it soon increased in intensity.

When Kai’s hands started to roam Rei pulled back and said, “You promised.”

Kai nodded and sat still.
Rei removed the second bullet from Kai’s arm then went around to Kai’s back to get the bullet out of Kai’s shoulder.

When that was removed Rei kneeled down between Kai’s legs again poured whisky over the wounds saying, “That’s should clean it and numb the skin. Do you have any gauze to put over it?”
“Yep upstairs,” Kai said first letting Rei stand up before standing up himself.

Rei followed Kai out of the office and upstairs.
The living quarters above the large warehouse were very spacious. At one end was a kitchen, a lounge room, a bathroom and a dining room. The rest of it, approximately two thirds, was divided into eight rooms, which converged on to one hallway.
On the couch in the living room slept a blonde boy, laying on his back. On top of him was a green haired boy. They were lying so the green haired boy’s head was on the blonde’s chest.

Kai saw Rei looking at them and said, “That’s our cook and his nutcase boyfriend. The green haired boy is Oliver and the blonde is Enrique. Enrique is very, very, very, very flirtatious but he is loyal as hell to Oliver. Oliver is a very good cook and a loyal friend.”

Rei nodded and smiled.
Kai walked into the bathroom but emerged from it a second later with gauze squares and medical tape.
Rei sat Kai down at the kitchen table and took the gauze squares and patched up Kai’s wounds.
Rei then sat down in the chair beside Kai.

“So what kind of guardian spirits do the others have?” Rei asked.
“Well Oliver is the keeper of Unicolyon and Enrique is the keeper of Amphilyon. Ian is the keeper of Wyborg and Johnny is the keeper of Salamolyon. Tyson is the keeper of Dragoon. Spencer is the keeper of Seaborg, he and his girlfriend Hillary aren’t liked very much, Hillary doesn’t have a guardian spirit. You’ll meet Bryan, Robert and Tala tomorrow. They’re the only three who could probably make a threesome work. Bryan is the keeper of Falborg, Robert is the keeper of Griffolyon and Tala is the keeper of Wolborg. I think I got everyone,” Kai said counting all of them off, one by one, on his fingers.

Rei yawned widely baring his fangs, which glinted in the light.
Kai smiled and grabbed Rei’s hand pulling him up out of the kitchen chair.

“You can sleep in my room and tomorrow I’ll clean out a spare room, that is if you want it,” Kai said leading Rei down the hallway.
Rei had his eyes half closed, he yawned and said, “No thank-you I prefer to invade your bed.”
“That’s good,” Kai said and opened a red door at the end of the hallway, on the left-hand side.

Kai led Rei in and let go of his hand. Kai shut the door and stripped down to his boxers then crawled onto the bed.
Kai lay on his back and watched as Rei stripped down to his boxers before he crawled up next to Kai lying down with his head on Kai’s chest.
Kai started to stroke Rei’s hair soothingly. Rei sighed and snuggled closer soon he had fallen asleep and all Kai could hear was a gentle purr resounding from him.
Kai watched Rei for a while until he too fell asleep.
