Chapter 1
Mabelle
Mabelle
The city burned in the darkness of twilight and a lone girl made her way across the street. Her auburn hair was held underneath a black bandanna, her blue eyes were hidden by the dark sunglasses that were not necessary in the darkness of the city streets. She was out looking for familiar faces since the college had been attacked this afternoon. Her black, skin-tight tank top was underneath a black leather jacket and she wore a pair of dark jeans with a pair of combat boots underneath. In her arms she carried a large rifle, an elephant rifle to be exact. Across her back were two more of the same design rifle.
"Belle!" a familiar voice cried and Mabelle, or Belle to her friends, turned to see another college student. "Jesse!" Belle cried as she ran across the street and embraced her friend.
"Oh God, I thought you died in the attack on the campus!" Jesse's eyes darkened.
"No, I got out with Tamra and Alexis," she whispered.
"However as we were running two of those things got them..they would've gotten me if a building hadn't collapsed."
"Oh dear God," Belle covered the choked sob that escaped her throat. She closed her eyes underneath the sunglasses. They ran into an alley and stood there for a second, Belle mourning the.lose of her two friends. Finally she snapped out of it and handed Jesse a gun.
"I saw two police officers firing regular pistols at those.men. It had NO effect, so I thought these might do some damage."
"Thanks," Jesse whispered, her eyes filled with unshed tears. The two slowly exited the alley, attempting to exit the city on foot. That idea was quickly ended when a laser blast hit a nearby car and sent the two girls flying. Belle flew through a nearby window and landed on the bed in the display, Jesse was no where near as lucky. Jesse flew into the side of the building, several loud and sickening cracks could be heard and she slid, limply down the wall. Belle jumped back out of the window, ignoring the many cuts that went through her jacket to the skin underneath on her arms and back.
"Jesse!" she cried as she rushed to her friend's side. Jesse's beautiful blond hair was saturated with blood and a red trail ran from her lips to her chin. There was a fractured skull and at least seven ribs broken, one of her lungs was most likely most likely punctured.
"B-b-b-belle.." Jesse coughed violently and blood flecked Belle's hand.
"Run.." Jesse's eyes dulled and Belle knew that her friend was dead. A tear fell from her eye and rolled down her cheek.
"Damn it, Nappa, you went and killed a perfectly good one!" a voice cried out and Belle turned. There were two of the aliens standing in the middle of the st. A . A tall bald one with a mustache and another one a few inches shorter with hair that looked as if he had stuck his tongue in a light socket. Both wore strange armor, a funny device over their left eyes, and had some brown rope tied around their waists.
"Sorry, Pepr," the bald one said as he looked at the other.
"Perfect, you know we have to make a quota," the other one complained. Belle pulled her sunglasses off, letting them fall to the pavement to shatter ae pue pulled the gun up.
"Please, Dear God, let my aim be true," she prayed as she pulled the trigger. It seemed that everything moved in slow motion. The kickback of the gun jamming into her shoulder, bruising the flesh and knocking the 5' 8" girl to her back. Somewhere above, God heard her prayer and the shorter alien suddenly screamed out in pain. A burst of blood erupted from his shoulder and he looked up at her. She hit the pavement and her gold, Celtic cross bounced up into her face. Before the cross even dropped back to her chest, the alien was holding her up by her neck.
J'dee
****
J'dee woke suddenly. She sat bolt upright in the bedroom and clutched the sheets close to her chest. She blinked trying to get her surroundings and she looked to the side seeing a tray, on the tray was a plate, toast, a banana sat on the plate and on the tray a hot drink still steaming. She knew it was coffee he she smell she curled her nose up. Coffee. She hated coffee 'smells better than it tastes' it was always her number one thought. She had used that line since she had heard it on that transformers episode where Rodimus Prime had been turned in to a human along with Ultra Magnus, Springer and Arcee. J'dee tentively picked up the cup and she took a sip and watched as the door opened. She saw the elderly figure and he smiled at her. She remembered what happened now. She'd passed out due to an over load of energy and it happened to be on this elderly man's property. He'd come running out brandishing a shot gun ready to shoot. But seeing it was her- just a girl not an alien; he'd taken her in. She smiled she was glad for his kindness. It was rarer and rarer these days such kindness was seen in her country. Living in the city, she'd witnessed many disturbing behaviours. Christchurch; Otautahi as it's Maori name was. The New-Zealand equivalent of an English city, very English. But now she was off on the outskirts on some random farm.
"Evening young lady, you've been asleep for over twelve hours now. I thought you'd wake up shortly so I brought you the only food I have left in the house. It's those damn Aliens you know destroying everything that makes food scarce on the farm these days."
He spoke and sat down on a seat in the room.
"I'm sorry if I startled you by arriving on your property like I did." She apologised.
"It's alright lass, you were on the run, I don't blame. Al. All these women these aliens are taking."
He shook his head.
"It's a terrible thing, those poor dears, I don't even want to think what they're doing to them."
J'dee shuddered involuntary. She brushed some hair from her face and looked at the elderly man.
"My name is J'dee." She offered.
"Clive." The elderly man replied.
'It's a typical old man name to me at least, he probably has a wife called Betsy or something close to that.' She thought.
"Thank-you once again Clive." "It's no problem, my wife would of liked you. She had a soft spot for women who are polite and kind like yourself."
'Kind?' she thought. 'Geez he hardly knows me.'
"Ummm.... thanks- I think." She smiled weakly hoping she didn't sound to pathetic.
"I'll leave you to eat." He smiled at her and left. J'dee grabbed the toast and banana she began to crush the banana up and she put it on the toast. She didn't care she was using her hands. Food was food and since the saiyans arrived like the old man had said it was scarce.
****
She had fallen back asleep again after eating. Eating the way to ground access energy. But yet again she was woken from her sleep, this time it wasn't natural. There was a slight noise. She slipped from the bed and realised she was only in her underwear she looked round and grabbed a robe from off the back of a chair and put it on doing it up at the front. She felt nausea, fear, someone else was in the house.
"Clive?" She called slipping in to the darkened hallway.
"Is that you?" There was no reply and she looked round for a form of weaponry or something close to that. But she was greeted with nothingness. It was so quiet she didn't know Clive well enough, but she knew he wouldn't want to scare her like this not now of all times. She swallowed hard and she trusted her gut when it said that it wasn't Clive.
"Who's there?" She said her voice trembling. She got a whiff of a smell and she blinked. It was a familiar smell, like burnt or singed hair or fur, she wasn't sure which they smelt the same to her.
"Who are you?!" She screamed.
"Answer me!" She tripped over in the hallways and scrambled backwards looking to the floor. There was something there and in a leopard crawl she made her way over to what she fell over and then she felt a wet sticky substance and she lifted her hand up and looked at it. It was dark and it smelt familiar. She knew that smell... Blood.
Gasping she scrambled backwards and found a light switch she flicked on the hallway light and she saw the body. Clive. Sweet elderly Clive. Dead. He was lying in a pool of his own blood, blood that was now on her too.
She ran down the hallway and stopped dead as she heard a crashing sound in the lounge. She paced her breathing slowing it down. She was just straining to peer round the doorway in to the dim darkness of the lounge when it happened. She screamed as a piece ofkneskness separated itself from the night. He pounced on her, his hands crushing her shoulders as he pinned her to the ground.
"No..." She breathed panicked.
"Do you know how long I've waited?" His voice was mocking her.
"Stop it." She growled.
"Don't make me hurt you." She threatened. He laughed. She hated that. he was laughing at her- her, the one who had the souls of three dead witches on her, she had r. Sr. She had strength everything at the touch. Oh he would pay. No one laughed at her and lived- okay well maybe they normally would live cause she hated killing, oh and blood she really hated blood. But laughing she didn't like that. A girl had laughed at her once. She had rammed the girl's head in to a wall. And this was what she was going to do this alien thing, with the fuzzy tail.
"Get off me!!!" She screamed.
"Oh c'mon you know you it. it." She twitched with anger and he moved one hand to run it through her hair, much like a lover would and she growled and took full advantage of the male distraction and flipped him off her and it to the wall she jumped to her feet and spun round dropping in to a defence stance. He jumped up and lunged at her she was surprised by the strength as he slammed her in to the wall causing the roof to cave in.
"Now do you wanna hurt me?" He teased, "C'mon oracle I like it when you're scared."
She struggled against him, but he held her tighter, sniffing the air round her, it was an odd action to her.
"The more I scare you the better you smell."
He stopped talking and then forced his head in between J'dee's jaw and shoulders and savagely began to kiss her neck.
'Now or never...' She thought and brought her hand back conjuring up all the strength she could muster.
'Heracles God of strength...'
*BAM*
She punched him right in the jaw sending him flying backwards and she stood up and clenched her fist and shook it as it throbbed with pain.
"SHIT! DAMN! DAMNIT!! OW!!!" She looked at the saiyan.
"It's like punching steel." She added. She held her hands out in front of her.
"I damn you to Hades!" There was a flash of power that erupted from her hands and hit the alien and he cried out as the power made him burst in to flames and he was suddenly disintegrated. J'dee sunk to her knees in exhaustion and she felt all strength seeping from her.
"Gotta-move-on-wards..."

She changed in to the baggy white tank top the farmer's pair of denim over- alls she still wore her platform shoes but this time she covered her hair up with a dark blue bandanna, she looked much like one of those farmer daughters. The only difference was, farmer daughter's didn't wear platform shoes they wore gumboots. J'dee wandered back in to the forest on the hills. She sat down on a tree stump and stayed there. People had been lost in these forests for weeks. She didn't care to become another one. She just wanted to hide. She slipped from the log remembering Clive who had harboured her for a day. Clive who she didn't even know.
"I'm so sorry..." She whispered to the night air. She looked at her hands and thumped them on to the ground.
"Release!!!" She shouted returning all the gathered energy back to the earth grounding it. She knew she wouldn't see food again for a while so this was the only other method of grounding energy. With that she fell to the ground weak and tired. Her body no longer able to support the energy without rest. She regretted that choice as soon as she heard the voices. Looking over she saw two more of the aliens as they spotted her. One had a wild boar over his shoulders and the other held a deer. "Well what do we have here?" One of them remarked. She sighed defeated, she would give up for now, but when she woke up there would be war. She felt herself slip in to unconsciousness.
