Chapter Two
Chapter Two
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Edward shifted uncomfortably from where he sat on the couch in the Colonel’s office. He hated these visits more than he hated the man himself. More than he hated milk even, and that was saying a lot. There was just something unnerving and completely infuriating to sit before the egotistical bastard when he was in full Colonel-mode.
Roy was taking his time too, probably knowing full well how uncomfortable the younger alchemist was and enjoying every minute of his torment. The Flame had one hand resting under his chin as he looked over the report on his desk, the other hand occupying itself with a slim silver pen which the Colonel repeatedly tapped upon the desk’s surface.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
The corner of Edward’s eye twitched with every downward stroke of the pen. Every inch of him wanted to crawl off the sofa and onto that desk where he could ram a steel fist into the Colonel’s head. The bastard was doing this on purpose, no doubt a punishment for their argument the other day. Well, not exactly a full blown ‘Flame vs. Fullmetal’ confrontation that they were both infamous for, but it was bad enough. After a day’s journey on a train, anyone would be pissy. And when you are Edward Elric, boy wonder with a temper to match his talent, a train ride was like opening the gates of hell.
He had been tired and sore and still cranky over the mission he had just completed. The last thing he needed was to see Havoc waiting at the station to collect him and whisk him off to see the Colonel Bastard, and yet that was precisely what had happened. After arriving at Central, the boy had simply stormed in and tossed his handwritten report—it wasn’t his fault they did not have type writers on the train, right?—onto Mustang’s desk and then tried to storm back out. Unfortunately, Mustang had tossed in a few ‘short tempers to match short stature’ jokes before he had the chance to escape. After that, it was all a blur in his foggy young mind. His temper had taken hold of him, and he was sure he had said things one should not say to ones superior officer before he had finally left.
Also unfortunate was the fact that due to his ill mood the other night, he had to make a return visit to the Colonel so that they could properly go over the report. And, of course, for Mustang to torment him more.
So wrapped in his thoughts was he that Ed did not realize that the irritating tapping had ceased. Now, Roy’s full attention was on him.
“What, precisely, would you call this, Edward?” the Colonel asked, a gloved hand waving over the crumpled pages of his report.
It took a moment for the younger alchemist to return to the present. Ed noticed Roy’s eyes upon him with a question in his gaze. “Huh? Oh…what do you think it is? It’s my damn write up from my trip to Lior. Are you really getting so senile now that you need me to tell you that?”
Strike another for Ed. That little comment earned him the sight of Roy’s eyes narrowing slightly. Although the Colonel never reacted as strongly to Ed’s jabs at his age as Edward did to jabs at his height, it was obvious the comments still ate away at his nerves.
The look of anger was fleeting as it was soon replaced with one of mild amusement. “Not senile, Ed, just incapable of deciphering such childish scribbles. And I may be wrong, but I am fairly certain that the phrases ‘that deceiving bastard’ and ‘pissed off’ do not belong in an official report.”
“So what?” Ed shifted a bit in his seat, his eyes falling onto the sheets again. “I was tired, all right? The trip was long and I was still angry over everything. It still contains everything you need.”
The Colonel seemed to consider these words as he sat back in his chair a bit and flipped to another page, his eyes landing on a rather bad doodle of Edward’s head sticking his tongue out located on the edge of the sheet. “I see. And I suppose you will tell me next that this is acceptable as well?”
That caused the younger alchemist to cringe slightly. He had forgotten he had drawn that. “I was bored, okay?”
Roy smirked and shook his head as he folded the sheets up neatly before promptly depositing them into the trashcan by his desk. “I expect another report from you by tomorrow morning. This one is to be typed.” Without any further warning, the Flame Alchemist raised a gloved hand and snapped his fingers, sending a wave of fire into the trashcan, incinerating the offending papers to ash instantly.
The breath caught in Ed’s throat as his eyes locked onto Roy’s raised hand, completely ignoring the fact that his hard work had just been destroyed. Those gloves, he knew, were specially made for the alchemist’s needs. It was Roy’s defining trait, the symbol of who he was. Although Ed would never admit it, the boy was oddly fascinated with them. This was why he had Envy wear an imitation of them in bed.
Although he was sure that the feel of Envy’s version of the gloves was far different from the real thing. Envy’s was smooth like silk whereas the Colonel’s were no doubt rough like sandpaper. They were, after all, made of ignition cloth that allowed the Colonel to create a spark for his alchemy. They looked so similar yet no doubt they would feel very different. The coarse fabric would feel so good against his chest, his thighs, his…
His cheeks heated up as his thoughts swiftly progressed southward. No, no, no…he would NOT allow this to happen now of all times.
Thankfully, Roy seemed to be unaware of the raging war playing itself out right before his very eyes. He was blissfully ignorant of the teens fight to control his desire and anger. “Fullmetal, are you even paying attention to me?”
Ed bit his lip and turned his head to look out the window of the Colonel’s office. If he continued to look at the other man, he was afraid his growing erection would stand up and introduce itself. What was it about this man that affected him so? It was as if the rage the Colonel caused in him made every nerve in his body scream alive. He wanted to both punch and fuck the man at the same time.
Maybe the military would be willing to dish out some money for a psychiatrist because Ed was beginning to believe he needed one. Desperately.
“Edward!” Roy’s voice echoed off the walls of the small office, making the boy jump in his seat. Light amber eyes met the angry dark gaze of the Colonel.
Inside, Edward cringed slightly but dared not to allow it to show on the surface. Instead, he narrowed his gaze into one of anger himself. “I heard you. You’ll have your damned report by tomorrow. Now, how about you stop wasting my time and give me my next assignment?”
There was a pause between them as they both considered the other, as if they were sizing up opponents before a fight. Finally, Mustang broke the silence. “I have no more assignments for you at the moment.”
“With all due respect, sir,” Ed said, having to dig the fingernails of his real hand into his palm to keep his temper in check. “You always have something for me. And I don’t need to remind you how much I need to find the Philosopher’s Stone. I don’t have the time to sit around here waiting for you to decide when you will grace me with another lead.”
“On the contrary, Fullmetal, you have all the time in the world. You’re on leave until further notice. Think of it as a vacation.” Mustang then did something even more aggravating than putting him on a forced vacation. The bastard smirked.
Immediately Ed was on his feet, his eyes wide with a mixture of anger and surprise. “What? You can’t do that! I have a mission to do. You can’t do this, Mustang!”
“You’re mistaken, Fullmetal. I have the authority and I choose to use it,” Roy said, although his voice softened some as the look of superiority drained away to be replaced by something that looked almost like concern. “You look like you could use the break.”
Edward’s eyes flared, his hard on mostly forgotten as he glared at the older man. He had a mission to do, a promise to fulfill, and the only way he could accomplish it was with the bastard’s help. Every fiber in his being called upon him to scream and rant at him, but some small part of him—his rational side—knew that it would get him no where. “And how long will I be on this vacation?”
Roy seemed to consider the question carefully before he lazily shrugged a shoulder. “A week or two. We will see. As for now, you’re dismissed.”
“Colonel, is there any way I can ta-“
“Edward, you are dismissed,” Mustang interrupted him before he could finish. And as if to finalize the conversation, the Colonel turned his chair around so that he was no longer facing the boy, but instead the window.
With a final glare, Edward stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind him. That bastard was always getting on his nerves.
***
“Brother, wait!” the disembodied voice of Alphonse Elric echoed throughout the crowded streets of Central. Although Edward was short, he could walk rather quickly when he was angry. Which, unfortunately for Al, was quite often. “Brother!”
Edward paused in the middle of the sidewalk, not daring to turn around to look at his brother. After all, he was pretty sure that the look upon his face could be considered lethal. It seemed like the Colonel knew how to push all of his buttons just right to send him over the edge. That, and he was still sporting a rather painful hard on.
Oh how he had fantasies of shutting Roy Mustang up by tossing him over his desk and fucking the bastard into a pile of goo until he begged for forgiveness. Maybe he could even have him beg for more fucking…
Edward closed his eyes as the mental image invaded his mind, causing his cock to throb impatiently inside his tight pants. Thankfully, his coat hid it pretty well. “Come on, Al. I don’t have all day.”
“But, brother…you said you were on vacation. What’s the rush?” Al asked as he finally caught up with his older sibling. “And why are you so angry? You could use a break.”
“Why??” Ed twirled around to face his brother, his eyes flashing. “We don’t have time to be lazy, Al. You know how important it is for us to find the Stone!”
“Yes, bu-“
“No. I don’t want to hear anymore. It’s like you’re taking Colonel Bastard’s side or something.”
And Ed could have sworn he saw Al flinch, even though he was a suit of armor. It was then that he realized how unfair he was being to his younger brother. It was not his fault that he was being forced to take a break. Still, the damage had been done.
“Why are you talking to me like that, brother?” Al asked, his voice trembling just a bit. “You know I’m just looking out for you.”
With a sigh, Ed allowed his shoulders to droop in defeat. His ill temper mixed with his raging erection was making it difficult to maintain some level of sanity. Even though he had just visited Envy the other night, Ed realized he would need to make another visit soon. Perhaps after a mind-blowing fuck he would be able to see the good in taking some time off. But first things first…get rid of Al.
“You’re right, I’m sorry,” he said with a soft smile. “Look, I’ve just been under a lot of stress lately. How about you go back to the dorms for a bit? I need to take a walk, clear my mind.”
“Uh…all right. I’ll see you later then?”
“Yeah, sure. Thanks, Al.”
Edward watched as his brother disappeared in the crowd again, a mixture of guilt and relief washing over him. He hated lying to his brother but why he really wanted to be alone was something he was not about to share.
Now he was left with only one more problem; to find Envy. Usually the homunculus came to him but Edward had no desire to sit around and wait for when it was convenient for him. He needed to relieve some tension before he exploded.
Thankfully, he did not have to look far. Just as Ed reached the next block, he was knocked into from behind. He stumbled before finally catching his balance, his golden eyes flashing with anger as he whirled around to glare at whoever dared to knock into him.
“You should watch where you’re going, Pipsqueak,” Envy snickered, dressed in his Roy Mustang guise.
“Shut the hell up,” Ed growled, crossing his arms over his chest as he looked away. Although he was secretly relieved that Envy was there, he was not about to reveal that to the other man. After all, they were still sworn enemies.
“Now now, is that any way to speak to your superior officer?” Envy cocked his head to one side before he let his gaze flick to a group of females who were walking past. They giggled and blushed as he winked at them. “You know, I should use this form more often. I bet the Colonel gets laid all the time.”
Edward flinched a bit at that comment. It was no small secret that the real Colonel was a womanizer. He had probably gone out with every single woman in Central. Why the idea bothered him so much, Ed could not really tell. “Look, let’s just get this over with, all right?”
The ‘Colonel’ just laughed. “Don’t tell me someone is jealous? That’s a laugh.”
“Jealous of what?” Before Envy had a chance to respond, Edward grabbed hold of one of his arms and tugged him down the nearest alley, making the homunculus laugh at his eagerness.
“What, no hotel this time, Ed?” Envy asked with a smirk as he was pushed face first into a stone wall, his legs being kicked open.
“I said,” Edward grunted through gritted teeth as he practically ripped Envy’s pants down, “Shut up!”
As he slid his pulsating cock inside Envy’s tight ring of muscle, Edward allowed his mind to drift, wondering silently to himself if the real Roy Mustang would feel this tight, this raw…

“Sir?”
Roy Mustang tapped his fingers lazily upon the arm of his chair, his mind lost in thought. It had only been an hour since the storm that was Edward Elric had blew out of his office and yet still the boy was forefront in his mind. For reasons unknown to him, the boy seemed to be getting sloppy. He seemed to be more on edge lately than ever before, which was saying a lot considering how infamous the Fullmetal’s temper was. There was something troubling him, and even though Roy would not admit it, he was worried.
“Sir!”
Roy jumped in his seat, nearly falling to the floor as Riza Hawkeye jarred him from his musings. He turned his dark gaze to her, trying to will his rapidly beating heart to calm down again. “Yes, Lieutenant?”
Hawkeye set another stack of papers on top of the already huge mountain of paperwork on Roy’s desk. “I was wondering when you were going to be done daydreaming, sir so that you might actually get some work done today?”
“Work?” His eyes fell onto the stack of paperwork, making him cringe visibly. Why did fate have to be so cruel to him as to make him suffer through so much tedious work? He sighed. “I’ll get on it.”
“That’s good to know, sir.”
Before Riza could leave, however, Roy stopped her. “Hawkeye, have you noticed anything unusual about Edward lately?”
Riza seemed to consider the question before answering. It was one of her traits that Roy admired in her; she always gave a truthful and thorough answer. “He seems grumpier than usual. Maybe less focused. But I wouldn’t say it was anything unusual for a child his age.”
Roy sighed, relieved. “So you think it is just a stage he is going through?”
“It could be.”
“I gave him some time off, maybe it will help him clear his mind a bit. I need him at his full potential before I send him off on any more assignments.”
Riza nodded her head as she listened. Although Roy was often hard on the younger alchemist, she also knew that he cared for all of those who worked beneath him. It was one of the many reasons why she was so loyal to the man. “That was probably a good idea, sir. Although, you should not make it too long of a break. Edward gets even more antsy when he has nothing to do.”
“Point taken,” Roy said with a sigh. “All right, thank you Lieutenant, that will be all.”
Riza saluted before walking to the door. However, she paused before going through. “Colonel? Don’t forget the paper work.”
Roy groaned again as his office door closed behind her. So much for getting away without doing work…
Author’s Note: I have to apologize if this chapter was a bit off. To be honest, I’m sick and drugged up on some pretty powerful stuff. The next chapter should pick up more.
Response to Reviewers:
KousukeAsazuki: hehe I’m glad I was able to surprise you. That was one of my main goals with this story, to give a bit of a shock.
Thooruchan: Of course I’ll keep Envy around for a bit. ;] He should be showing up a bit more in the following chapters because I have some plans for him.
Devious Lil Devil: lol yes, Ed/Envy is a great pairing. I wanted to make it realistic too so I hope I can accomplish that. But please keep in mind that this is an eventual Ed/Roy fic
And to everyone else, thank you so much for your reviews. You were all so sweet! I’ll try to write more soon but I don’t think I should attempt any more until I’m feeling 100% again. Once again, thank you!
