[1] Bugbears are similar to orcs, meaner than hell, stinky, gross, but with cute little noises. They stand about 7’ tall on average. Elves and bugbears are enemies in the Kingdoms of Kalimar D&D supplement, actually they’re enemies most of the time really.
[2] Think two to three foot tall spider with an eel’s neck a couple dinky arms in front, beady little eyes, coarse fur, lots of teeth. Now you’re starting to get close. The mentality is this---‘if it didn’t belong to me at one time, doesn’t belong to me now, or won’t belong to me in the future…then it doesn’t exist.’ Hence it’s a slaver. Makes sense, ne?
[3] ‘Trance’ is the term used for an elf’s sleep. They don’t really sleep, but enter a meditative state that gives their mind and body a chance to recuperate. A human sleeps 8 hours a night, an elf trances for 4 hours.
[4] Two basic kinds of dragons. Chromatic-the evil and Metallic-the good. This refers to the dragons’ scale color; they’re born a certain color. Although being sentient creatures they can choose to go against the draconic nature of their alignment. (i.e. a Chromatic dragon can be good and a Metallic dragon can be evil.)
[5] Naïlo means Nightbreeze in Elven. (Player’s Handbook v.3.5, pg. 16, under the ‘family names’ heading.)
[6] The ‘Master Ring’ and ‘Slave Ring’ are located in The Book of Vile Darkness: ) the SR is keyed to the MR. Wearer of SR must do whatever MR wearer says. 3/day can deal…I’m not going to go into the d6 damage it does, but trust me it would hurt. And the MR can talk to SR as per ‘Sending’ spell. Seriously every D&D nerd should own this book and its counter part The Book of Exalted Deeds~~~~MUST BE OVER 18 TO BUY EITHER ONE!!!! EXPLICATE CONTENT!!! SR ring can only be removed by wearer of MR. Also ‘house rule’ it can be other types of jewelry & it suppresses magical abilities until the MR says different, and if MR dies OR ring is take from them and not put on anyone else, then the SR can remove it.
[7] ‘I tried not to think of the words ‘searing, flesh’-is a line from Edward Norton in everyone’s favorite soap-making movie Fight Club.
[8] A type of sword favored by elves.
[9] Yes he has Fell Flight and Dark Discorporation. I build all of my warlocks like that. It’s just too fun to pass up.
[10] Is it just me or do most people blow right past the ‘Soap-5lb.-5sp’ part of the equipment chart? I always buy soap so I can force it on the lower CHA party members. **I’m tellin’ ya I must have a soap fetish**
[11] Abyssal is the language of Demons; Infernal is the language of Devils. Trust me there’s a HUGE difference.
[12] This would be a Heward’s Handy Haversack or as I like to call it, the H3. Much shorter that way. Think a smaller version of the Mary Poppins’ suitcase. Mary Poppins actually had a Bag of Holding. It holds more than it should physically be able to.
[13] Vorel means ‘beautiful’ in Draconic.
[14] Drow is a race of elf; they have dark skin and white hair and live underground. Normally evil.
