GUNDAM WING X: When Fantasy Bends Reality

PART TWO: UNEXPECTED GUESTS

"Just Wild Beat! Communication! Ame ni utare na gara! Iroasenai atsui omoi! Karada jyuu de tsutaetai yo toni-iiight!"
The long golden hair of a young woman swished back and forth in its ponytail as she danced around her bedroom, singing the words to one of her favorite songs as it played from the speakers on her desk. She had just finished putting some newly washed clothes away in her closet, humming and singing to herself as she did so. She closed her closet and twirled several times to the music, her slim and youthful body moving around in time to the rhythm. She spun across the room to her waiting chair, which she let herself fall into, giggling. Blue eyes danced around her room casually as she leaned back in her chair, kicking her legs playfully to the music.
Wallscrolls, lithographs, and posters covered her walls. Her eyes stopped on the poster directly above her desk. It was a picture of five boys, posing. The girl looked at it and giggled before turning her chair around to face her desk. She lifted her hands to begin typing on the keyboard in front of her, her fingers dancing over the keys as more music played from the speakers of her computer. She hummed and sang with the music, every once in a while taking a sip of soda from the cup sitting next to her. Just then, the alarm on her clock went off and she glanced at the time. "Hm. 2:30 already?" She reached over and shut off the alarm before reaching for her cup again, only to find it was empty. "Uh oh. Time for a refill."
As she stood, she took a glance to the small cage on the floor beside the desk. She knelt down to it, making kissy faces at the rodent inside. "Hey, boy. How's my baby doing today?" A glance inside the cage had her notice an empty bowl in the corner. "Uh oh, looks like you need more food." She reached up to the desk where a large bag of rat food sat, bringing it down to the floor with her. She opened the cage and reached in, allowing the fuzzy thing to scurry up her arm and onto her shoulder. She giggled and nuzzled her face against him, and was returned with a licking of her cheek. She soon dropped a handfull of pellets into the bowl within the cage, closing the bag and putting it back on the desk. She then picked the chubby thing off her shoulder and gave it a kiss before putting him back in the cage and closing it. "I'll be back in a minute, boy." She smiled at him as she stood from the floor.
She got up and walked downstairs to the kitchen with cup in hand. Opening the fridge, she was quickly met with something cold on her calf. She turned and looked down at the culprit whose cold nose was against her leg. "Oh, its only you, girl." The black mass of fur wagged its tail as two more came up to do the same. The girl smiled at them. "Okay, you guys need to go outside? Is that it?" As if in affirmation, the three dogs barked and instantly headed for the back door. She smiled and followed the wagging trio, unlocking and opening the back door to let them out into the backyard.
She let out a small sigh as she left the door open and walked back to the kitchen to get her refreshement. As she did so, she took a glance around the house, noticing how quiet it was. She was the only one home at the moment, her parents having left on several days of vacation time. So she was in charge of things until they got back, leaving her alone during their absence. Even so, she enjoyed the time alone. It was peaceful and quiet for a change. Plus, it gave her a chance to think and to get some much unfinished work done on some of her personal projects. Letting out a yawn, she reached in the fridge and opened the bottle of soda, pouring it into her cup. As she did, she could hear the dogs barking fervently outside. The startle it caused made her spill onto her hand. "Dammit." She set the cup down on the counter and turned to go see, but the barking soon stopped. "Hm. Must've been a bird or something." She then walked over to the sink and quickly washed and dried her hands.
She glanced at the clock on the kitchen wall as she tossed away the paper towel. "Hm. Still half an hour before it comes on. Might as well grab a snack first." She then reached over to get her soda, but halted. "Dammit. The door." She let out a sigh and began heading for the backyard door. She was startled once again as all 3 dogs came racing back into the house. She let out a startled grunt. "Geez, what's with you guys toda-"
Her words froze as she caught something out of the corner of her eye.
Her gaze turned slowly to notice the figure now standing in the doorway. The light from the backyard was at their back, shadowing their face. "Who..." The word slipped out involuntarily. As if responding, the figure took a step forward, the dim lighting inside the house vaguely lighting up their features. It took only a moment to register two things: First, that this was not someone she knew, and second, that the gaze being given her was a deadly one.
In an instant of panic, she turned on her heel and bolted through the kitchen, turning the corner to head through the front of the house to go upstairs. She could hear the figure, as well as the dogs, racing behind her as she did. She had only made it three steps up the stairs before she felt a strong hand wrap around her ankle and pull back on her leg. She lost footing and slipped, falling forward against the carpetted stairs. In the instant, she registered the one behind her advancing to move on top of her and instinctively kicked her leg back at them with a shout, landing her heel into their stomach. The temporary moment of stun was enough for her to scramble up the remaining steps and stumble down the hallway to her bedroom, quickly entering and slamming the door shut.
Her fingers fumbled with the lock a moment before she succeded in locking the door. Instantly, the handle rattled as the one on the outside attempted to open the door. She heard a grunt of irratation from them at finding it locked. She knew it wouldn't take much for whoever it was to break through the thin door if they wanted, though. Not waiting to see if and when they would, she moved over to her computer desk and picked up the phone, preparing to dial the emergency line. However, she noticed upon picking up the phone, there was no dial tone. "Did they...cut the line??" she asked herself aloud. She fearfully put the phone back down, wondering frantically what to do. She walked to her window, looking out and down to the ground. "...It might twist my ankle falling on the bricks, but I have to try."
Just then, she heard a flurry of thumping noises upon the stairs. "Place is empty", she heard a voice say. "The only one here is her", came another. "Is she the one then?", spoke a third. "More than likely."
"How many of them are there??" she thought aloud. It was then that the panic took over. She had to risk the jump and try to escape. She began to force the window open, causing a rough scraping sound to be heard.
"What's that?" "A window!" There wasn't even a moment's reprieve before the door was kicked open with a splintering CRACK. She had only just managed to get a knee up on the windowsill before she felt her shoulders grabbed from behind. "No!! Let me go!!" she cried out towards the window, hoping that someone nearby would hear. "HELP!! SOMEONE HE-!!" She soon found herself silenced by a strong hand being clamped over her mouth. She struggled frantically, but all for naught. Her captor's grip was like iron. "Stop struggling", a smooth yet serious voice told her. "We're not here to hurt you." Whether that was true or not didn't seem to matter at the moment as she kept flailing in their grasp, her muffled cries the only reply she gave.
She subconsciously noticed one of the others closing the window and curtains, at the same time there was more feet clammering up the stairs, as well as the incessant barking of the dogs. "What the hell!?" she heard someone exclaim. "What are you doin'??" "She tried to escape", one of them answered. "We had no choice" "Let her go!" she heard yet another voice, one younger in tone. "We will, once she calms down", the one holding her replied. "Then maybe we can figure out what's going on."
Amidst the situation, her head was spinning from adrenaline and panic. Her eyes opened momentarily, catching a glance at the mirror-plated doors of her closet. She didn't get a clear look at the reflection, her vision blurred. All she was able to register was one person holding her and four others in the room, making a total of five. That was all she saw before the disorientation caused her to black out, falling limp in her captor's arms. Before consciousness faded completely, she could hear them speaking.
"It seems she's fainted." "Perfect. That's all we need..."
