Chapter 2
Specific Warnings for Chapter 2: Hmm...not much. Some violence and unwanted sexual harassment. Language, too, I suppose. Don't worry, it gets much worse very, very soon ^_^
King Kold knew his son was approaching from the nervous order to stand at attention from one of the officers. The chorus of a dozen boots sliding into position rang through the air. He smiled, his restless tail giving away his anger and impatience.
"Well, well, son. Nice of you to drop by."
"Oh, my pleasure, father", came his son's reply. He could already detect the temper his son was so famous for. So, the little emperor didn't like being corrected, did he? Kold's smile widened.
"I was almost sure you would be late and once again you prove me right. You know I hate it when you are...it's disrespectful."
Freeza grimaced slightly at the hardening of his father's voice. Late on his own damned ship? Freeza felt his anger raise another notch.
Nevertheless, he masked it well, "I apologize, father, I was absorbed in some documenting and was informed of your arrival late. I assure you that the guard will pay for it."
Freeza grinned as he picked out the messenger guard. The guard's eyes widened in shock and fear.
"What, me? B-but Lord Fr--"
A second later, the guard, what was left of him anyway, dropped to the floor in a pile of burned body parts.
Kold laughed softly and turned to face his son, "Now that that's done with, you know why I'm here; to look over my boy's holdings, make sure things go smoothly--"
Freeza smiled bitterly, "You mean your routine spying, father?"
Kold paused, for the first time really looking at his offspring in a way that made the mighty Freeza swallow uncomfortably.
"Why, Freeza. Are you giving me sarcasm?"
Freeza at once shook his head, trying to look innocent, "Oh, no, no father. I was merely stating that every year you come here you always see it fit to completely change things around to your liking...from how I want them."
Kold nodded, his eyes closing as a smirk fit his lips, "Ah, I see. And all this time, I thought I was doing you a favor. Out of the kindness of my heart and all. You seem to forget who it is between us that has been running things right for decades now."
Freeza suddenly felt the eyes of his troops on him. He glanced over his shoulder and saw Zarbon standing at attention. But then his father shifted his weight and he was caught in his shadow. His violet eyes looked up for a moment before they cast themselves down. He knew who the superior one here was.
"Father, I...", he began, hating himself for what he was about to say, "That was very disrespectful of me. I apologize."
Kold set a large hand on Freeza's shoulder, "Of course you do. No offense taken, but next time you wish to be rude I suggest you do it elsewhere and not around me."
Freeza nodded as his father turned away, leaving him burning with resentment and embarrassment. He saw movement in the corner of his eye and before he could react, Kold's tail had smashed him against the chest, sending him flying into the wall with a sold thud.
His troops ran to him; he could see their boots surrounding him.
"Sire--!"
They stopped as Kold laughed, "Freeza's a big boy now. He can take care of himself, men."
Dizzy, Freeza got to his knees, glaring murder and blood past the troops staring at him, unsure of what to do. One of them stepped forward.
"Sire, are you hurt--"
Freeza focused up on him and a moment later the guard was clutching at his own throat, making small choking sounds before his head exploded. He collapsed to the ground. Freeza knelt up and rubbed the side of his face. When he drew his hand back, he saw purple staining his fingers.
Zarbon stood, shocked at what had happened. Basically, a father had corrected his son on the grounds of respect and attendance.
"Finally", he said quietly before realizing his thoughts had been verbalized. Kold, standing nearby, turned to look at him and instant terror gripped Zarbon for the second time that day.
"Uh--I mean—I d-didn’t--", Zarbon began sputtering until Kold smiled with amusement.
"Come here."
With a quick glance at his fallen master, Zarbon nodded and stood at salute, "Yes, my liege."
Kold smiled wider, "You're a pretty one. What's your name?"
Zarbon blinked at the compliment, "Uh...Zarbon, your majesty."
"Zarbon", Kold said thoughtfully, "I'll remember that. Now, tell me, what are you doing following my son around? How about you come home with me?”
Before Zarbon could attempt thinking of an answer, a massive hand brushed against his face and fingered the long green braid hanging down his back.
"This is pretty", Kold said, "Do you always have it back like this?"
Zarbon, words unable to make it past thought, only nodded. A sharp pull on his braid jerked his head back and his golden eyes widened in silent fear as he was pulled closer.
Freeza stood up unsteadily, looking through the lines of now-statuesque troops to see his father and Zarbon together. Closer together now, as Kold pulled Zarbon to him. His face went blank with mute rage and he stumbled towards them.
"Well, I don't like it that way", Kold replied and with another sharper jerk, a soft cry, and a few pulled strands, Zarbon's hair unraveled and went like a curtain down his back. His amber eyes were fixed on Kold's smiling face.
"Much better, dear Zarbon", Kold said, giving him an unsettling look, "I'll have to ask my son permission to...meet with you later. But then again, perhaps not. After all, I am his father. I suppose I can do what I want with you, hm?"
Zarbon only stared, then, "I...I suppose, your majesty."
He looked over Zarbon's head and his creepy smile brightened, "Ah, son! Better now?"
Freeza smirked as if being on the receiving end of a harmless joke, successfully hiding the boiling rage that screamed to rip off the bastard's head. Zarbon bowed to Kold, then went and stood behind his master, unnoticeably trembling.
The emperor gave him a glance then looked up at his father, "Well, if you're finished playing with my senior officer--"
"No", Kold cut him off, leering at Zarbon, "Not yet. But for now, you may show me to my room."
Freeza's smile felt plastered on his face, "Of course, father."
Kold let Freeza pass him, and then motioned for Zarbon to do the same. The blue alien's face went a shade paler as he hurried past the king's giant frame, trying to ignore the swift slap on the ass he received.
Others present in the long hallways knew better than to do anything but stand at attention for their passing lord. The threat of freely dispensed death apparent on his face would be dealt to those who did otherwise. No one could help staring after the trio passed at the intimidating size of the Icejin ruler and the fact that his cumbersome arm was linked around a high-ranking officer's shoulders.
Zarbon was barely able to keep walking, what with the whisperings of what Freeza's father would like to do with him later on. As if putting up with the son was bad enough...
"I think I know why my son would appoint you at so high a rank, Zarbon", the king was saying, "You've been fucking your way up the ladder, hm?"
"Uh, n-not exactly, your Majesty--"
A faint thread of laughter was coming its way around the corner and Freeza's mind went blank as he realized whose it was.
