Chapter 2: Dazed & Confused
First order of business after disembarking from the shuttle was to find a place to call home. Ok. So maybe not home, but a place to stay. Mead Colony was an agricultural colony with more farmland than anything else. Still, there were cities and towns here and there. Most housing complexes were on the farmlands and occupied by the farm/ranch hands.
Heero had chosen Mead because it was as close to a “normal” life as he could find. It had been months since he had last checked in on the little space colony but he was sure nothing had changed. It still had its country, laid-back charm perfect for a slow, easy life… Near the docking bay were several housing / employment agencies. Choosing one at random, Heero stepped inside and was accosted by agents.
“Welcome to Barton Agency,” a pretty brunet female chimed. “My name is Gail. These are my associates: Bob and Britney.” Bob was a tall, skinny blond with pail skin and a rather large nose. Britney was an equally tall, long legged brunet that looked like a model. Both smiled brightly as they were introduced. “How can we assist you today?”
“I need a place to stay and work,” Heero said coolly. He quickly scanned each one for weapons. `Can it, soldier! You're a civilian now.’
“What sort of work are you looking for?” asked Bob. His smile was making his nose look larger.
“How many people do you need to house?” Britney asked before Heero could answer Bob.
Behind him the door opened. Yet Heero couldn't hear the footsteps of the person entering. Gail, Britney and Bob sent smiles to whomever it was behind him, but didn't turn their focus from him. `Quit being so paranoid! No one knows you're here.' “Just me and I can work anywhere.”
“I can handle this one,” an all too familiar voice said. Trowa clapped Heero on the back, “Right this way, Mr. Yuy.”
Britney, Bob and Gail silently went back to their posts. Heero followed Trowa into his office. It was neat with a homey charm. There was a picture of Catherine in her circus costume next to his computer. Beside the picture of Catherine was a picture of Trowa with his arm around a beautiful East Indian woman. Her long dark brown hair flowed down her back in luscious curls. Both were dressed for an evening out and smiling like they were having the time of their lives.
The lady with Trowa was named Pramjeet Jafar, his fiancée. They had met during one of Trowa’s vacations. Catherine had seen the attraction between them and arranged time for Trowa and Pramjeet to be alone together. The romance blossomed so much that Pramjeet was willing to give up her normal life to be Trowa’s partner in the field.
‘His family,’ Heero thought with a twang of jealousy. It wasn’t directed to the fact that Trowa had a family. Heero had one to with the Gundam pilots and Relena. Trowa motioning to the empty chair on one side of his desk didn’t leave Heero time to ponder the twang of jealousy. Instead, he squashed it and sat down.
“WuFei said that you left. I thought you might be on a secret mission.” Trowa paused, eyeing Heero. There were very little telltale signs that Heero would allow to tell how he was feeling. One was his refusal to comment, which meant the obvious.
Instead of answering the hinted question, Heero asked bluntly, “What are you doing here? Mead isn’t exactly a vacation spot and you’re not with the troop.”
Trowa sighed, realizing that he wasn’t going to get any more information about why Heero left. Instead, Trowa replied, “That’s classified information, Heero. Information that you are not longer allowed access to.” Then he added politely, flashing his classic charming smile, “Would you prefer something in the city or on a farm?”
“I don't know,” Heero admitted after a moment of shock. “I'm so use to being a bodyguard or secret agent.” He expected to be shut out of all dealings with the Preventers by Zecks but from Trowa?
Trowa smiled slyly, “I have a position as a caretaker for a person on the outskirts of Baytown. It's mostly a live-in chauffeur and tending to the garden, which spans most of the five-acre land. Other things may be required of you. There will be a reasonable allowance and room and board will be paid buy your work. Light compared to what you're use to.”
Heero frowned. ‘Damn near to boring!’ But it would give him a chance to really think about himself and what he would want out of life. Trowa’s ‘classified’ answer was just the slap in the face he needed to realize he was no longer a Preventer. Besides, the employer would be some old person living out their retirement. This was a job and a place to stay all in one. Trowa would never send him in the wrong direction. “Fine.”
“Good. I'll make a few phone calls and you can be in your own room by tonight.”

Lea Zikamo sat on her front porch, softly rocking in her favorite chair. Mr. Barton said that he found the perfect caretaker for her. She had told him she would be the judge of that. The last three agencies that she worked with sent out incompetent people who were more interested in how much they were getting paid than how to help her. Lea always took care of her own personal things. The general chores were left to the caretaker. She figured they were easy assignments. ‘Perhaps there were no more hard workers out there?’
The bone in her left leg began to throb. There was a dull ache in it that morning. ‘A storm must be brewin!’ She sighed and gingerly rubbed her thigh. ‘I hope they arrive before the storm hits.’ She eyed the fake sky. The clouds were settling in.
Mead Colony was the first colony to incorporate a planet-like atmosphere into their station. The man-made weather made it possible for a better grade of crop to be produced. At first, the public at large thought that it would never work. Most feared that the weather generators would be too much for anyone to control. Thirty years later, those thoughts were now set aside. More Weather Controlled Farming Colonies, or WCFCs, are being built.
A puff of dust along the road to her house caught her attention. Lea squinted a bit, trying to identify the source. A dusty black, sleek looking car with tinted windows sped its way towards her house. “Well, it's about time, Mr. Barton.”
The car slowed down as it reached the last few yards as to lessen the dust it kicked up. Mr. Barton was always a kind soul. Always thinking about every detail. The passengers climbed out once the car stopped. Mr. Barton was a tall, good-looking man with that romantic air of mystery about him. Many women and men wanted him. Yet, he didn't seem interested in anyone. That, of course, wasn't any of Lea's business and she always stayed out of it.
The gentleman with him was slightly shorter with dark brown, messy hair and the oddest shade of blue eyes that she had ever seen, the beginnings of a beard, and his clothes looked like he had traveled for days in them. He didn't look like a caretaker. He looked like he was just released from the military. This intrigued Lea.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Barton,” She said as she slowly descended the steps of her porch. She was having second thoughts about leaving her cane in the house. “There's a good storm brewing. I was hoping you'd arrive before it did.” Mr. Barton smiled, causing Lea's heart to flutter. She could feel her cheeks warming. ‘Get a grip!’
“Thank you for your concern, Ms. Zikamo. Storm or no, I promised you I would find a caretaker.” Mr. Barton motioned to Blue Eyes. “This is Heero Yuy. He has just arrived here and was telling me how well he works in gardens.” Mr. Yuy smiled slightly. It looked painful as if he didn't smile much. “He worked in an apartment complex as the grounds keeper and part-time maintenance worker.”
“Really, now?” Lea noted Mr. Yuy's silence, the way he stood at attention, casually scanning the area. Bells and whistles were sounding in her head but Lea ignored them. So, Mr. Heero Yuy didn't fit the bill to her standards but why would Mr. Barton send him to her? He wouldn't be like the other agencies… would he? ‘Only one way to find out…’ “Well then, you should fit in just fine here. That's all that I require done here… more or less. Anyway, I should really get you settled for the night. Thank you, Mr. Barton, for being so prompt with this.”
“You're welcome, Ms. Zikamo. Call me if you have any concerns. I shall check up with you in a couple of days.” Mr. Barton gave Mr. Yuy a curt nod before getting into his car.
“Right this way, Mr. Yuy,” Lea chimed and headed into the house.

Ms. Lea Zikamo wasn't like Heero had expected. She was young, beautiful - in a plain sort of way. She had a frail look with her limp and thin, small frame. Yet, she held a commanding attitude that seemed to draw Heero to her. Caramel brown skin, big brown eyes and full kissable lips were attractive finishing touches.
Lea gave him a tour of the ranch style house. Heero forced himself to pay attention to what she said and not the way her lips moved. The house was huge. It had four master bedrooms, a library, living room, a huge kitchen with a breakfast nook to one side and a dinning room on the other. The porch wrapped around the house. The garage was separate from the house and there was a barn and a workshop in the back. The acreage itself was stunning and looked like something out of a garden magazine. He had to admit he was admiring it on the way in.
Dinner had been cooked and was eaten as Lea outlined Heero's duties. “For the most part, gardening and repairs on the house and truck are what will be required of you. Every now and then I will need you to drive me into town to help with the shopping and hauling of supplies. I have certain events, shows, and fairs that I must attend. You, on the other hand, will not need to be there. I'm sure you'll find other things to do.”
Lea fell silent as she watched Heero scarf down his food. He wasn't making smacking noises or mmm sounds, but she could tell he was enjoying the food. “Haven't had home cooking in a while, hum?”
“Never had food like this,” he answered with his mouth half full.
“Do you like it?”
Heero nodded eagerly. Each dish was so well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Seldom would he eat his fill, but this night was an exception.
Lea's smile widened. It made her look even more beautiful. There was a slight pink hue to her caramel brown skin. “Thank you,” she said. “Save room for desert.”
Desert was a three-layered chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and walnuts sprinkled on top. Lea served it with a tall glass of milk. Heero had another huge slice before heading to bed.
The storm had begun around the end of dinner. It was a strong one with lightning and thunder. Heero hardly noticed it. He laid awake still mesmerized by Lea. Why would one person live in a huge house like this and take care of all that land by herself? She couldn't handle it all by herself. Where's her family? How come she didn't ask for their help? How did she hurt her leg? Was it from working this land or a childhood accident? Really, it was none of his business, but he wanted to know. He wanted to know everything about her, even what she wore underneath her plain-Jane clothes. ‘Be content with working for her,’ Heero told himself. Then another thought invaded his mind before he could force himself into slumber.
‘Why am I so interested in her?’
The thought cleared any sleepiness he had. He sat up, frowning in the darkness. Why, indeed? He had just met the woman. No other female he had met ever made him feel like bedding her a mere few hours after their introduction. And that included Relena! Was it due to lack of sexual partners? Heero could count the number of women he had since Relena on one hand. He and Duo had stopped sleeping together since after he “declared” his feelings for Relena. Around the same time, Duo went to Hilde. They'd been together ever since. Heero deduced the attraction was due to the lack of sexual partners and the need to quench it. He plopped back onto the pillow with a sigh. ‘First you find your place in life. Then you can have your pleasure.’

Heero trailed his hand down her side. She was soft and warm and getting hotter by the second. She wiggled under him, whimpering for more. He smiled. Yeah, he would give her more but when he was ready. He continued to caress her making sure not to touch any erogenous zones. His lips nibbled at her neck occasionally gently biting. She threaded her fingers through his hair and wrapped her slender legs around his waist.
“Heero?”
Her voice was muffled and distant. That was wrong. She was in his arms… right? He continued to caress her skin only to feel unmistakable cotton. His lips also found fabric. He propped himself up on his elbows and stared down at bright white cotton covered pillow which was wedged between him and the bed.
“Heero? Time to rise and shine,” Lea’s cheerful voice beckoned beyond his bedroom door.
The sun's rays filtered through the thin curtains. The delicious smell of breakfast wafted past his nose. Heero plopped face first into the pillow. Sleep and the dream quickly faded as reality settled in. She wasn't in his bed or in his arms. She was beyond the door safely out of reach, which was a curse and a blessing. Curse because he was hard as a rock. Heero figured the blessing was he didn't have to explain something as awkward as sex after being there for on barely one day.
The door slowly creaked open.
“I'm UP!” he shouted and pulled the covers over himself.
Lea snickered. She didn't come into the room. Instead she kept the door cracked. “Good. I didn't want to baptize you with cold water on your first day here.” She closed the door and added with laughter in her voice, “Breakfast won't last long. So, hurry up. I ain't making more.”
Heero rolled out of bed and sighed in relief as soon as the door closed. He could have sworn Lea was in his arms. Her scent of peppermint and vanilla, the way she sounded so real and… right. Heero physically shook his head clear it of such thoughts as he headed for the bathroom and a cold shower. The cold water didn't help. Dream Lea kept haunting him with memories of her soft lips and skin. Of course, Heero had never touched Lea in reality but he couldn't stop wondering what it would be like. Something had to be done. He couldn't go to the kitchen table with an erection!
A low, soft groan escaped his lips as he slowly stroked himself. Dream Lea wandered back into his mind. Her delicate fingers replaced his. Heero leaned against the shower wall as Dream Lea stroked and played with the tip of his erection. Her brown eyes remained locked with his as she played with his hard cock. Her full pouting lips wrapped themselves around his length and sucked him to completion. Heero gritted his teeth, doing all he could not to cry out. After a few deep breaths to steady himself, Heero finished cleaning up. He paused and stared at his reflection in the bathroom mirror. ‘Ms. Lea is my employer. Nothing more, nothing less.’
With his mind made up, a focused Heero left his bedroom to start his new life as Ms. Lea Zikamo's caretaker.

~End of Chapter 2~
The revisions throughout this and the following chapters are mostly spell checks and maybe a few additions to the scenes. It’s really the last few chapters that will have a major overhaul. Anywho, thanks for reading. ^_^
