Damn Traditions 20
Okay, sorry this took a bit longer to get out, there was a convention at the weekend and I was too tired to write getting home after it each night. I caught up with a lot of old friends, met someone I knew only be email for four years for the first time and entered the Kamehameha contest. However with a slight cold I couldn’t manage a good one and crashed out in the first round. My son however made it to the finals, but when discouraged to not go for the “cute” factor (the crowd voted), he wound up with third place in the end. Well I still have my memories of Vic Mignogna playing with my hair in last years finals…. Ah Broly…Anyway so I took a few more nights to get it down, yes some of this is based on actual events in season two which I bought at the con, only the main characters have changed slightly to suit this AU. I have only spell checked this, so if there are any mistakes I’ve missed it’s because I didn’t have time to correct them. One day I will go in and edit them, but I’m too busy right now. Between this I have my Naruto story and a Sentinel dues story and a fantasy novel I’ve been working on for years, as well as a Yugioh story on the go. And no I don’t have much of a life. Cons are it besides raising my son and work.
So I hope you like and again thank you for reading and the reviewers, you are the best! You really make it worth it.
Damn Traditions continued….
Vegeta growled. The bastards had his child! Zarbon, that bitch Aspaga, and his father—they all had to be involved in this conspiracy to take his son. But why? Why take a tiny baby? He wasn’t the heir to the throne, not yet anyway. And why bring him to the Icejins, their greatest enemy. Unless… unless that was the deal his father had made with Frieza. He had given the lizard his first born in exchange for leaving their world alone. His own grandchild!
Vegeta clenched his fists tightly. His father would be lucky to live once he got his hands on him. He wasn’t sure what to do at the moment, he needed to rest, but there was no way he was going to leave knowing his son was being held within. He’d have to find someone to help him and he thought of at least one person he could use until his own men returned from the safe world.
It took him a little time to track down the man. “Bardock.”
“Sire.”
“I thought you had gotten into my father’s favor?”
“That was what I had thought, but I think he’s been keeping me away from the palace. Perhaps he thinks that I am a part of these rebel attacks. Which I am not, nor is the group I knew of either. There is something very suspicious about these attacks. My grandson was not killed by the rebels.”
“You grandson is not dead.”
“What?”
“I think there is a conspiracy going on, that’s why my father kicked you out of his bed… Yes I knew it was you, your scent is not far of my mate’s.”
“You said something about a conspiracy?”
“I followed a carriage taking my…wife…away from the palace; you know she has befriended Zarbon?” Bardock nodded. “I followed her to a mansion where he soon joined her. I heard the cry of a child which I believe to be my son. But I have exhausted myself I need to rest before I can do anything about getting him back.”
“And you think the King is a part of it too?”
“Oh I know he is. He told me he had made a deal with Frieza, and I believe that was to give him my firstborn. He just didn’t want anyone else to know what they deal was, so he faked the death of my son.”
Bardock was clenching his fists and without realizing he was powering up.
“Damn, now I know where my mate gets some of his power from. Stand down man. We must not alert them that we know. I need you to watch the mansion for me. I must rest I wasted too much of me energy trying to find my son in the rubble of the palace and if I am to take on the Ginyu force, I need more than I have now.”
“Gladly Sire. But when you go after your father, I want in on it.”
Vegeta grinned. “I’m going back to the palace. Just keep watch, if it looks like they’ll leave come and get me. I’m calling my men back home.”
“And Kakarott?”
“He doesn’t need to know what has happened. I hope they haven’t let him know about the child being supposedly dead.”
“No I’d rather he didn’t know either.”
“Did you know his power was equal to that of an Elite?”
“Kakarott has talents that I don’t understand, so no, it doesn’t surprise me. He can sense power levels in others. In fact he’d have known the boy wasn’t dead.”
“Well, he’s not here and there is only you and I. I can’t trust anyone else.”
Bardock nodded and readied to set of, “I will see you later.”
Vegeta watched him leave, then he headed for the palace. He really hoped he would not see his father, or he’d be heir to the throne from patricide.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Bardock found a place to conceal himself and watched the mansion. It was quiet, but he occasionally saw one or two of the men he believed were the Ginyu force Vegeta had talked about. They were an odd bunch, but if Vegeta needed to rest up before fighting them, then they had to be good.
Nothing happened during the rest of the night. But just after dawn, Bardock sensed something stirring and watched as three members of the Ginyu force flew off. And as he watched them leave, he had not taken into account what the other two were doing, and suddenly found himself looking at the little green one, who was looking at him. One of the big ones, a humanoid with a red mop of hair was grinning at him too.
“I think we have a spy, Guldo.”
“I think we do too.”
“Why don’t you play with him first?”
“Don’t mind if I do.”
Bardock pulled his scooter around and had a look at the little green guy, he didn’t seem to have much power, and seeing that they already knew he was there, he would have to fight. He rose up into the sky and powered up, before diving at the little creature. It was then that Guldo struck with his time freezing technique, stopping Bardock before he got too near while he ran to a place of safety. When his breath ran out, Bardock found himself crashing into the ground, before bouncing back into the air a little confused as to what had happened. He spotted Guldo and went at him again at speed. And again Guldo stopped time as he held his breath, Bardock was much closer this time and Guldo ran to get away, but as he was running he tripped and lost control of the time freeze. Bardock saw the ground coming and stopped himself using a small Ki blast which knocked Guldo rolling along the ground, and Bardock wonkily into the air spinning.
Bardock wasn’t sure what was going on, the little guy could not be that fast. So once again he shot down on him. Once again Guldo froze time, but he didn’t have any energy to fight Bardock by attacking him during the freeze, so he chose to run and hide. Bardock, now weary of the strange disappearances of his small foe, once again managed to stop himself crashing into the ground as the little guy vanished before his eyes. He flew off in search of him. Finding him he attacked with Ki blasts and still he rolled away narrowly escaping the large Saiyans attacks. But Bardock would not give up, and pushed to his limit, Guldo stood and fought, using something called a mind bend to trap the big Saiyan. Then he gathered rocks and threw them at Bardock, before physically beating him up because he could. He used the last of his energy to forge a tree truck spear and aim it at his helpless victim. It was about to hit when he gasped out into surprise. Bardock was suddenly free and Guldo’s head was parting company with his body. Bardock saw Vegeta land not far away from the little green creature he had just decapitated. The head kept on talking about being cheated, before Vegeta blasted it and Bardock landed not far away grateful for the save.
“You weren’t supposed to bring attention to yourself,” said Vegeta.
“I let myself get distracted.”
“You’re as much a baka as your son.”
Bardock shrugged, he couldn’t argue with that.
As they were speaking the big redhead was moving towards them. Vegeta noticed him first and his anger began to rise.
“My fight is with the little one here,” said Recoome. “You stay out of it.”
Bardock was not about to argue again.
As Recoome began, Vegeta powered up and before the big guy knew it he was flying all over the place, and being beaten at the same time. Vegeta threw him into a hill then sent a huge Ki blast at him. However while it all looked very good, when the smoke cleared there was Recoome, clothes crispy and black, but still there He went at Vegeta fast and got him, before Vegeta started back and the fight was on. They fought hard, both getting at the other, until Recoome able to get the upper hand and crash Vegeta into the ground. He then opened his mouth and sent off a Ki blast from there. Bardock swung at and dropped the big guy while grabbing hold of Vegeta to get him out of the way. Pissed with the rescue, Recoome went at Bardock getting him with a powerful kick, knocking him to the ground. But Bardock knowing Vegeta was not ready to fight again picked himself up. He knew he was no where near as powerful as Vegeta or this giant, but he would fight for his grandson’s sake.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buddabin snuck around the corner, he knocked once at Kakarott’s door. Kakarott poked his head out and they nodded together before heading away. They were able to get out of the main building and then they took to the air. Neither said a word as they flew through the night air, until they reached a place where a small ship was sitting. Even before they came to land two tall beings exited the ship.
Buddabin turned to Kakarott, “This is Nail and Piccolo, they’re Namek mercenaries, they’ll take you away from here.”
The two green beings nodded at him.
“I will make sure the others are safe until we can figure out what to do. You will be safe with these two.”
“Can we go,” said Kakarott.
“Whenever you want,” said Nail and he and his partner headed into the ship followed by Kakarott.
Buddabin got well out of the way as the ship took off, then headed back.
Kakarott sat where he was told, but not long after leaving the planet he stood. “We must go to Vegetasei.
“Are you insane?” said Piccolo.
“My father and my mate are in trouble, they need me. Take me to Vegetasei.”
“No fucking way,” said Piccolo, but Nail put a hand on his partner’s shoulder.
“I think we should. This one is strong, mate of mine, probably stronger than you.”
Piccolo looked over the agitated Saiyan.
“Please I can feel my mate weakening and I must recover my child.”
“I don’t like it, we might not be able to get away from their safely,” said Piccolo.
“If my mate dies, I die,” said Kakarott.
The two Nameks looked at each other.
“Very well,” said Piccolo and changed direction for Vegetasei.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Bardock straightened his armor, recurled his tail about his waist, and as he did so he knocked the pouch he had hidden inside his armor. He reached inside suddenly remembering that he had bought a pouch of magic beans from a traveling nekojin. The nekojin had said they could heal, just by eating one of them. He had bought them for fun, but he wondered what if they really worked? He pulled the pouch out of his pocket, took one of the beans out and put it in his mouth and chewed. It only took a few moments but he felt the bean work wonders on him, he was fully healed!
He pulled another bean out and turned calling to Vegeta and threw the bean to him. “Eat it Vegeta.”
By then Recoome had recovered enough to launch himself at the rejuvenated Saiyans. He went at Bardock, who ducked enough to get a powerful punch in the giant’s stomach, felling him. Then Vegeta launched a Ki blast at the fallen attacker destroying him.
Then Bardock looked to the sky, “Damn, I think we attracted some more attention.”
Two of the three that had left earlier returned. Burter and Jeice. They landed surveying the area.
“Isn’t that Guldo’s body over there?” said Jeice pointing at the headless green creature.
“Where is Recoome? I can’t detect him anywhere,” added Burter.
“Who could those bastard Saiyans have beaten them?”
“I don’t know, but they are not going to get away with it.”
They split up and then flew at the pair at top sped, missing them at each pass. Both Saiyans stood their ground, not intimidated by the two attackers.
They sat in the air looking down at the Saiyans. Then Burter got on the radio on his scouter, “Jeice use your fire crusher ball on the tall Saiyan, we’ll have to take them out one at a time.”
“But he’ll jump to avoid it.”
“When he does I’ll sneak in from behind and crush him, you go after the little one.”
Jeice fired off the ball, but Vegeta fired a blast at the same time deflecting it away, almost hitting Burter. When he looked back down at the Saiyan they had attacked, he was no longer there.
Jeice who had been surprised by Vegeta’s deflection, called out to Burter. “Look out behind you.”
Burter turned to see Bardock there and immediately launched into a fight with him in the sky. Pissed off with the older Saiyans trick, Jeice joined their fight. But he was able to hold them off and once he had a change he got right out of the way and the pair wound up punching each other. They went at him again, but wound up repeating their mistake, only this time Bardock attacked immediately kicking Burter out of the way, then speeding after him and kicking him down towards the ground. Vegeta positioned himself in the right place and as he was about to hit the ground, caught him and thrust a Ki blast though his belly, killing him, before tossing his body away. Outnumbered Jeice turned tail and flew off the way he had come.
Not too much later, he returned, but not alone. With him was the leader of the Ginyu force, Captain Ginyu himself and the Saiyans didn’t need a scouter to realize that he was much more powerful than the three they had killed.
“Well, well, Prince Vegeta himself,” he said.
Jeice was surprised, he had no idea he had been fighting the Prince.
“I have come for my son.”
“So all our plans were for nothing, you found out we had taken him alive.”
“You should never have trusted that bitch who is my wife. I followed her here.”
“Stay out of it Vegeta. A deal was made with Freiza. Your son to be raised by him, in return for your planet’s continued existence.”
“I had figured that out Ginyu, but I will not allow it. He is my son not my father’s, he had no right to make any deals with my child and I will take him back.”
“Then you have to go through me.”
Vegeta growled he knew Bardock was at his limit, and he was not that far behind.
