The Whirlwind, Part I
Vegeta pulled his flight short and dropped to the ground, counting on the coastal breeze to carry his scent away before it could cause any trouble. Tenshinhan, Krillin and Piccolo followed a few seconds later and he faced two big smiles - and one deep scowl.
“Well well, the prodigal Prince returns. And all it took was the rebirth of an intergalactic space dictator!” Krillin laughed.
Vegeta snorted, surprised to find he’d missed the former monk. That the one most willing to stand up for Vegeta in the face of some major opposition had been the one most in favor of killing him when they’d first met was no small thing. It had been more than enough to earn Vegeta’s respect and he wondered where along the line he’d earned Krillin’s. He’d even had no objection when Piccolo had asked to let him in on the secret of the new Saiyan children.
Piccolo eyed him with an appraising eye, his fondness apparent and reciprocated. He wondered what briefly what the Namekian saw now when he looked at him. Finally he simply said, “You’re looking well. I’m glad. Really.”
“Same goes for you,” Vegeta returned. “I guess solitude didn’t suit either one of us as well as we thought.”
“True,” Piccolo chucked at the truth of his friend’s words. He was more at peace with himself than Kami had been as Guardian of Earth, more content than Nail had been in all his years of service, more content than he’d been since Gohan’s childhood training. All thanks to an adorable couple of tailed brats who each had him wrapped around their little fingers. “And you have no idea how difficult it was to get here alone.”
“Seriously, I haven’t seen that much pouting since the selfie was invented! And I’ll have you know this guy is a complete pushover. He just snuck off the Lookout while Dende was trying to calm the little monsters down!”
Tenshinhan’s scowl deepened as he listened to Vegeta laugh. Whatever they were talking about he neither knew nor cared. He hadn’t come here for this. “Enough of the chit chat. Where’s Freeza?”
“Killjoy,” Krillin muttered.
One of the more vehement voices in insisting Vegeta must have sinned terribly against Gohan the last time they’d seen each other, Vegeta doubted - even after having been proven wrong - Tenshinhan had come because of a change of heart. “I must say I’m surprised to see you here. Are you that eager to be killed by the great Freeza?”
Tenshinhan’s teeth ground together in a snarl. “I’ve known Goku for a long time, and the Goku I saw at Bulma’s party wasn’t the Goku I know. You’ve changed him. Now that he’s been stuck with you for so long I’m just here to see how bad things have gotten.”
There was no warning, no building of energies. Just a flash of anger in Vegeta’s eyes and suddenly the ground cracked under Tenshinhan’s feet. He struggled to keep his balance on the shaking ground under him as it crumbled and gave way, dropping him into a dark abyss. He caught himself and flew out. His incredulous gaze caught Vegeta’s angry one.
“I could destroy this entire solar system without exerting myself. And yet, I haven’t killed the arrogant dickhead who seems to love being shitty to me even though it would be so. Incredibly. Satisfying. You’re right. Poor Kakarot, subject to my intense restraint. How does he manage? Now come on baldies. Freeza’s close.”
Vegeta rocketed off, not waiting on company. Piccolo smiled and followed right on his heels. Krillin cleared his throat with a bit of a nasty smile before taking off. “Need some ice for that burn, Tenshinhan?”

Vegeta smirked, enjoying Freeza’s puzzled expression as he walked forward to greet him. “Kakarot will sit this one out. Do feel free to fight him though, if you can get through me.”
Freeza’s face lit up in amusement. “Poor little Vegeta. This won’t take long, but… when are you ever going to get tired of embarrassing yourself? I would have been content to kill you but now… I’m remembering how much better I slept with you around.”
“Sleep is about to be the last thing on your mind you overgrown lizard,” Vegeta said with murder in his eyes. Freeza’s smile faded and he scowled.
“Fine, fine,” Freeza said with the same tone one might use when stopping important business to play with an overactive dog. “You always did lack in social graces. You won’t mind if I skip to the end and swat you like a fly? I’d like to dispense with this nonsense and get to the real fight as soon as possible.”
He powered up, first to his true form, then to a shining, golden version of it that no one had ever seen before. He reveled in the shocked gasps of awe his transformation inspired, not missing the chance to expound on the many virtues of his strength, as well as the fury and outrage that had inspired it.
As he concluded his speech he noticed with disappointment that he seemed to have failed in rattling his intended victim or his wayward pet. ‘Ah well,’ he said to himself with a smile. ‘Let them be confident unto their deaths.’
Vegeta had watched the transformation, arms crossed. It was impressive, Freeza’s new form was more powerful than even he was expecting. And he listened patiently to his former master’s long winded speech about his sufferings in hell, the many wrongs Goku had done him, and his own superiority.
Though he still loved the feeling of his ki flaring out of him in a massive burst of power, Whis had quite effectively trained that out of him. Now he closed his eyes and let the power build inside him slowly, reining in the energy build both to conserve energy for the fight and to keep his enemy guessing. He rose to Super Saiyan, and then he accessed the power of the god ki and let it merge with the first. Only when he felt the combined power saturating him did he open his eyes again.
Freeza stared for a moment before bursting into condescending laughter. “What is this?” Vegeta smiled dangerously as he knew how it looked to Freeza’s overconfident eyes, knew that he saw no perceptible change in his power level. “Some blue hair dye and color lenses and I’m supposed to be intimidated?” He cackled away, uproariously tickled by the antics of his pet.
His first sign that Vegeta had even moved was the abrupt end to his laughter caused by the supersonic impact wave of Vegeta’s gloved fist in his gut.
“You were saying?”

Two familiar figures had appeared on the cliffside far below Freeza and Vegeta at some point. As soon as Freeza noticed them his eyes widened in shock and dismay. How long had the God of Destruction been here, and what did he want?
The small amount of time it took for those thoughts to register were enough for Vegeta to punish him for his distraction. He reeled from the sudden attack as Vegeta taunted him. “Why are you looking at him? Worry about what’s in front of you, Freeza,” he admonished with a fierce grin.
Freeza hacked up a large spray of his own blood from the force of Vegeta’s hits and rage filled him. He had trained for months, reached a new height of power so overwhelming none had been able to stand up to it thus far.
And yet he was barely holding his own in this battle. Vegeta’s strength and speed were far beyond what he’d expected to face. And the worst part, the part that infuriated was that this wasn’t even Goku, the one he’d dreamed of having his revenge on.
It was just… his pet.
He wouldn’t be killed and return to hell, he refused. And he sure wasn’t going to lose to a mere attack dog who doubled as a pleasant fucktoy. He smiled to himself as the thought reminded him that the way to defeating Vegeta had never been through pure strength.
He had to be conquered from within.
He put as much force as he could into one single kick and caught Vegeta off guard, sending him crashing into the sheer cliffside out of view of the watchers far above them. Freeza was on him before he could shake it off and he found himself in a familiar position. Too familiar; he froze.
Freeza’s tail snaked around his wrists and slammed him against the rocks again and he reeled from the impact. “I thought of you on the way here, Vegeta. Remembering old times. I thought I’d give you a reminder. I’ve even given us a little privacy. See? I am capable of being kind.” Vegeta tried to twist away but Freeza’s body pressed him against the rocks. Those cool hands wandered up his thighs, dragged their way up his groin to rest on his stomach. Freeza frowned for a moment as his intimate knowledge of Vegeta’s body told him that something was different. His eyes began to glitter with malice when he realized what it was.
“Oh my, isn’t that delightful! I’d heard stories of a third sex among your people but I never believed it. If I’d known what you were capable of your life with me would have been very different. I never really had much use for children, but… if it had worked imagine how strong they would have been! Even I couldn’t resist loyal soldiers with that much power! I suppose though,” he mused, leaning close to sniff along Vegeta’s neck. “It’s not too late for that. You smell delectable, my beautiful pet.” He hummed happily to himself, delicately lapping at that same skin, enjoying Vegeta’s shudder.
Vegeta’s mind reeled as Freeza tore the armor off his body to let it fall into the ocean below. The knowledge that no matter what happened he could thwart any attempt to impregnate him was a comfort, but a small one. He couldn’t focus, could barely think as the panic gripping him turned to despair. It seemed not even death had dulled Freeza’s memories of Vegeta’s body, of all the touches that hurt him in special ways, and the ones that made him feel so degraded and powerless.
Freeza was too strong; he’d always been too strong. Vegeta’s every attempt to stop him, defeat him, kill him had ended in failure. Why should this time end any differently?
His shudder was one of revulsion as Freeza pinned Vegeta’s hips with his own. Even Freeza’s bio armor couldn’t hide the feel of his erection. Memories of what it had done to him - what it would do to him again - flooded his thoughts and drove out the rage holding his Blue form together. His transformation left him with a whisper.
“I’ve never had you in this form. It would have killed you before, but you’re strong enough now to take it. Should I do it here or take you where Kakarot and your new friends can enjoy the show? They seemed to enjoy watching me punish you back on Namek. Do you think Kakarot would try to save you? Or stand there watching me while I mount my beautiful pet!”
Vegeta choked back a whimper as Freeza’s haunting laughter filled his ears, as he continued his exploration. ‘I can’t do this. I never could…’ With a realization that felt like dying he knew he would have to call on his mate to save him yet again.
Not for the first time he wished he could die without taking Goku with him.
‘Still too fucking…
weak.’

“I suppose you’re rooting for your student to win this fight. You never did seem very fond of Freeza,” Beerus remarked casually.
Whis snorted. “If I remember correctly I wasn’t the only one. You were getting annoyed with him yourself. Is that why you wanted to come, because you missed seeing Goku take him down?”
“Yes, quite frankly. I was expecting to see Goku fight but this is far more interesting so I suppose I don’t mind. Freeza hasn’t changed much; he seems to be having a better time right now than all of us though,” Beerus cackled.
Strangely Whis wasn’t sharing in the joke. His eyes were fixed on the rise of the cliff and that gave Beerus enough pause to stop his laughter. He turned back to the stalled battle to see their energies once again through the concealing rocks as Whis did.
“If Vegeta loses it’s his own fault,” he said, needling Whis. “He has everything he needs to win.”
“If he were fighting Freeza that would be true. But it’s his past he has to conquer.”
“What do you care anyway?”
Whis made a noncommittal hum. “I’d like to know my training is still as good as it once was.” Beerus shrugged and crossed his arms, going back to watching the two combatants but inwardly he remained vigilant. It had been eons since Whis had really cared about anything. And now here he was, showing concern for such a lower, fucking troublesome life form that should have been the last of his race.
A lower life form that had the potential to turn his entire existence upside down if not destroy it all together. On his own Goku was no threat, too busy pursuing food and fights to worry about much else. But together with Vegeta...
Beerus resolved to keep a much closer watch on Vegeta in addition to keeping him away from Whis’ training. It could be dangerous if his toy figured out how to realize that potential.

When Freeza and Vegeta disappeared from sight everything in Goku went on high alert. As soon as they did he had plugged himself into Vegeta’s mind as much as he could without distracting him. And so his unease turned to panic as he heard Freeza’s quiet words through Vegeta, felt his mate’s revulsion at his touch and worse - felt Vegeta’s will to fight being driven out of him.
Only Freeza had that power over him, to reduce his battle-hardened mate to helplessness with such speed and skill. It was a power crafted from decades of abuse.
In an instant of rage Goku accessed his god ki as the others around him gasped in shock. Before he could take off Gohan’s hands closed on his arms. “Dad, stop. He needs to do this on his own,” he said quietly.
“You don’t understand-” he began, but realized that wasn’t the case.
“I know I don’t have the right to that understanding, but I do have it. He can do this, he has to do this or it’s never going to end for him.”
Gohan was right and Goku released the energy. “He’s calling to me, I can’t just stand here and do nothing!” He felt Whis’ presence next to him but didn’t turn.
“It’s not your fists he needs, you know,” Whis said lightly. “He is your mate. One soul, two bodies. It’s his vision that is flawed. Lend him yours.”
Goku understood immediately, and set himself to the task just as quickly. It wasn’t easy to fight his way through the maelstrom of filth, pain and self-loathing in Vegeta’s mind but his determination won through. I’m here, Vegeta. Look at him. Really look. See him the way I do.
It wasn’t something he did. Watching Freeza get off on his blood and suffering made him nauseous and he had learned to avoid looking at the monster during his defilement.
And Goku hadn’t formed his thoughts into an order he had to follow. Freeza hands were taking over the job of pinning him, freeing his tail and Vegeta knew what would come next. He didn’t want to look, didn’t want to see that tail coming, didn’t want to know which hole it would violate first. And yet, he wavered.
Trust me, Goku urged again. Before he knew he’d changed his mind he was turning unfocused eyes from the sky to focus on the beast before him. In surprise Freeza chuckled, pleased to have his pet’s attention. He held that gaze in determination as Freeza’s tail began to wend its way up his body gritting his teeth tightly to keep from flinching. He gasped as Goku did… something to him over their bond. Before his eyes Freeza’s form blurred and resolved again and he no longer looked the same.
From the first time they met Freeza had been far, far more powerful than Vegeta. In his mind Freeza evoked a confusing mix of rage, respect and fear. A boogeyman, the spectre at the banquet that grew bigger, stronger and more dangerous with all the emotions Vegeta pumped into it, made worse by the fact that he’d never had the chance to fight him as a Super Saiyan.
But as he studied Freeza with Goku’s clearer insight he saw that it wasn’t real, none of it was real. Freeza was weak, and growing weaker by the minute. His body couldn’t take the massive amount of energy his new form brought with it; the arrogant fool hadn’t conditioned it long enough. And he… was strong. Stronger than any Saiyan in history save his mate, powerful enough to hold his own against a god. For the first time, Vegeta was the stronger between he and Freeza. And now he could see it.
The fear fell away.
//Kakarot…//
High on the cliffside Goku closed his eyes, a small sound escaping him at the amazement and pure gratitude that flooded him.
Feeling Beerus’ furtive scrutiny Whis didn’t show the great relief he felt as Goku relaxed at his side. He turned, making his way back to Beerus. Seeing his earlier fears reflected in Piccolo’s furrowed brow he was reminded of the fondness Vegeta felt for him, for the friendship and trust they shared. He paused only long enough to impart what he already knew.
“You can relax. He’s about to set himself free.”

Next chapter: The end of Golden Freeza and the beginning of a new battle.
Ulrike: Thank you! I must say, the idea of Beerus is terrifying to me. I get that this is a funny shonen fighting anime and nothing is to be taken too seriously, but… I can’t help it. Someone with the power over life and death on a massive scale… who is ready to blow up an entire planet because he isn’t getting what he wants the way he wants it as fast as he wants it. How I’ve written him is how I realistically see a character like that; I don’t think he could be anything but a sociopath. ...But it’s been established that I’m a headcase, so don’t take my opinions too seriously either, lol! I’m working really hard to post a good sized chapter at least twice a month and I’m glad it’s paying off. Keep hating my creepy Beerus, hopefully something very bad will happen to him soon. Muahahaaa! ;)
ZeoViolet: Yeah, I’m glad about the reviews, I’m always appreciative, especially when people had to jump through hoops with the login just to do it. :D And yep, karma is lining up a giant kick to Freeza’s ass using Vegeta’s foot. Honestly that’s what started this whole mess, watching Resurrection and yelling at the screen when Vegeta wasn’t the one to kill Freeza. He deserved that kill! lol!
