Bulma knocked on Vegeta’s door. “Hey, Veggie, Bardock says that we’ll be landing soon.”
Vegeta opened the door angrily, glaring at the blue-haired woman. “Call me that again, and I’ll blast you.”
Bulma just smirked at him. “Veggie. Hmm. Yup. It’s decided. That’s your new nickname!”
“I swear to the gods if you don’t stop calling me that!” Vegeta yelled, following her up to the cockpit.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever, Veggie,” Bulma said as she took the seat next to Bardock.
Vegeta raised his hand to smack her, but stopped when Bardock said, “Would it not be wrong to hit a woman who does not have the strength to fight back?” Bulma turned to see that Vegeta still had his hand raised. Her face contorted into a look of anger and she jumped up and punched Vegeta in the face.
“You asshole!” Bulma yelled, “How dare you try to hit me! I’m a lady!”
Vegeta stared at her, cocking an eyebrow. “A lady? Really?”
“You keep acting like that and you’ll be flying back to Planet Vegeta!” Bulma yelled.
“Great! Then I wouldn’t be stuck in a tin can with your loud, annoying ass!” Vegeta snapped back.
Bardock rolled his eyes as the two continued bickering. He carefully navigated through Namek’s atmosphere and, after surveying the layout of the land, landed in a fairly flat location. Bulma and Vegeta continued arguing behind him. “Hey!” he snapped at them, “If you both haven’t noticed, we have landed. Both of you, get you acts together. Let’s go talk to the Namekians and wish Lyri back.”
“That’s if those wish orbs even exist,” Fasha called from somewhere in the ship.
Vegeta hoped with everything he had, that these were real. He press the button to open the ship and jumped out without waiting for the ramp to lower. As soon as his feet touched the ground, a deep voice told him, “I suggest you and your friends turn around and leave.” Vegeta glared at the two green Namekians that stood before him.
“I’m not going anywhere, green-man,” Vegeta snapped, “We’re here for the-“
“Dragon balls,” the one in the white cape interrupted, “We know. We also know what you are and we’re not about to let some monsters use them for their own personal gain.”
“Listen here, you green jackass, it’s not about personal gain-“ Vegeta snarled. The rest of the group lingered on the ramp, growing angrier by the minute.
“We don’t care what it’s for. You Saiyans have brought nothing but death, destruction and misery to the universe. We’re not about to let you do the same to our planet,” he said, “Now, leave.”
Vegeta vibrated with anger. How dare these stupid Saiybaman wannabes just dismiss him without giving him a chance to talk. He would make them pay. He would make them suffer. He would...
“Wait!”
Bulma came running down the ramp and ran past him. “Wait,” she said again. She stopped in front of the Namekians.
“You’re not Saiyan,” the more talkative one said.
“No, I’m from Earth,” she said, “My name is Bulma and these Saiyans are my friends.”
“You ally yourself with these monsters?” the other Namekian asked.
“Hey! They aren’t monsters! We didn’t travel for seven months just for you to be dismissive and rude!” Bulma snapped, “We traveled here because we had heard about your wish orbs and were hoping to wish our friend back!”
The Namekians exchanged looks with each other. “It is not up to us. To use the dragon balls, it is up to the grand elder to decide.”
“Nail is correct. Elder Guru decides everything,” the other said.
“Can we please see him?” Bulma asked.
“No.”
“Piccolo,” the Namekian named Nail snapped, “The grand elder would not want us to send them away.”
“Tch...fine,” Piccolo muttered before yelling, “But we’re only taking three of you.”
“Go,” Bardock said, nudging Kakarot down the ramp.
“Follow us,” Piccolo told them, “And don’t lag behind! We won’t stop to wait for you.” Both him and Nail took to the sky and flew off, Kakarot and Vegeta following them.
“Hey! I can’t fly, remember!” Bulma yelled after them. Kakarot quickly flew back and picked her up before taking off again.
The group eventually landed on a large plateau that held a huge house. “Wait here,” Nail instructed before disappearing inside with Piccolo. Minutes later, Nail returned and ushered them in. Before them sat a monstrously huge Namekian.
“Wow! He’s huge!” Kakarot exclaimed. Bulma elbowed him hard.
“Forgive him,” Bulma said quickly.
“He’s an idiot,” Vegeta added.
“My children tell me that you wish to use our dragon balls,” Guru said. He motioned to Vegeta. “I can sense that you are the one wishing to use them...” Vegeta remained silent, neither confirming nor denying Guru’s claim. “Come, let me see your true intentions.”
“What? Hells no,” Vegeta said.
“Vegeta, stop being an ass!” Bulma said.
Vegeta crossed his arms. “Do it for Lyri!” Kakarot told him.
“Tch...” Vegeta grumbled but stepped forward.
Guru placed his gigantic hand on Vegeta’s head. “You have a lot of pain in your heart,” he started, “But...” He paused, keeping his hand on the Saiyan prince’s head. “I can sense that your intentions are good...” His giant hand left Vegeta’s head and reached up, grabbing the large orange orb above his head. “You will need to collect the other six before you can make your wish...” He handed the large orb to Vegeta. “Nail and Piccolo will help you with your quest.”
“Wow! Thank you so much!” Bulma exclaimed.
“It is no trouble,” Guru said, “I hope your wish brings you great happiness.”
Nail and Piccolo led the group out of the house. “The rest of the dragon balls are in those villages,” Nail told them.
“We should probably-“ Bulma started.
“We’re not splitting up. Guru may have given you permission, but that doesn’t mean that I trust any of you,” Piccolo snapped, “Now come on!” He jumped over the ledge of the plateau and disappeared from sight.
“You’ll have to excuse him,” Nail said.
“Why’s he got a bug up his ass?” Bulma asked.
“He’s just not very trusting of off worlders,” Nail explained.
“I’ll deal with his ass later,” Vegeta growled. He took off following Piccolo. Kakarot picked Bulma back up and him and Nail followed. When they landed in the first village, there was a bit of hostility.
“It’s ok,” Nail told them, “Guru says their intentions are good.”
The other Namekians seemed weary, but handed over the dragon ball. Bulma thanked them and they left for the next village. Eventually, they had collected all seven balls.
“I will summon the dragon and make your wishes known,” Nail told the group.
“Why can’t we do it? What you don’t trust us?” Bulma asked.
“No, it’s not that,” Nail told her.
“It has to be done in our language,” Piccolo snapped.
“Fine. Whatever. Do it,” Vegeta grumbled.
Nail stood before the dragon balls, stretched out his arms and spoke five words in Namekian. The skies darkened and the dragon balls began to glow. Lightning flashed. A blinding light sprang from the glowing orbs, spinning up into the sky before exploding, lightning up the dark sky for a brief moment. Then, looming before them, was a monstrous alligator-like serpent.
“Why have you summoned me?” the dragon asked.
“Your wishes?” Nail asked.
Bulma and Kakarot looked to Vegeta to ask for Lyri to be wished back. Vegeta’s pride was held him back. Kakarot sighed and asked, “Can we wish for our friend, Lyri’s resurrection?”
Nail nodded and asked the dragon to revive Lyri. “Very well,” Porunga boomed, his eyes glowing red.
A warm feeling flowed through Vegeta. He felt whole again and it was easier to breathe. She was alive. After a couple minutes he glanced around. “Where the hells is she?”
“She is where she died,” Piccolo told him.
“What? Why wasn’t she brought here?” Vegeta yelled.
“Because you only wished for her resurrection!” Piccolo snapped.
“If it’ll shut you up...” Porunga boomed. His eyes glowed red. “That’s a freebie...”
Lyri appeared on the ground, her legs under her and her hands on the ground in front of her.
“Huh?” she asked, looking around, “Where the hell am I?” She looked up at Porunga. “What the hells is that thing?” She scrambled backwards away from the giant dragon, only stopping when she ran into Vegeta’s legs. She looked up at him. “Sorry...” He grabbed her upper arm and held her to her feet. He let her arm go, his hand sliding down her arm and stopping only when she grabbed his fingers. Their eyes locked and she gave him a small smile. He squeezed her hand before pulling away. Kakarot walked over and pulled Lyri into a hug.
“If you ever die again, I’ll kill you,” he told her. He let her go and Bulma pulled her into another hug.
“Hate to break up the reunion, but you have two more wishes,” Piccolo told them.
The four of them looked at each other. “We’ve been gone for seven months...” Vegeta said, thinking out loud, “What’s happening on Planet Vegeta?”
Nail asked Porunga. “I can show you what you wish to know...” the dragon boomed. Vegeta’s knees hit the dirt as he started seeing things. His father’s death at the hands of Nix, Nix ordering a hit on him, the Saiyans all returning home and...
“No...” Vegeta muttered before yelling, “No!”
“Vegeta, what’s wrong?” Lyri asked.
“It’s Frieza...he...” Vegeta said, “How could that dumbass not see...”
“What?” Kakarot asked.
“We need to get home now before there’s nothing left to go back to,” Vegeta told them.
“Ok, we can leave right now,” Bulma told him.
“We don’t have seven months!” Vegeta snapped, “We need to get home now before Frieza destroys the planet!”
Lyri turned to Nail and Piccolo. “Send them back. Leave me and Bulma behind. Just...send them back!”
Nail nodded and told Porunga what she said. “Done!” the dragon boomed.
“What? No, wait!” Vegeta said reaching for Lyri before him and Kakarot disappeared.
With the last wish granted, Porunga bid them farewell and disappeared in a flash of light.
