The Whirlwind, Part II
Freeza’s hand slipped lower and Vegeta’s eyes narrowed. He felt energized, ready to make Freeza pay in blood for every drop of his own that he had spilled over the years.
That long, sharp tail pressed against his lips, poised to force its way down his throat but it wouldn’t penetrate him, not this time and not ever again. With an explosion of power he ripped free of Freeza’s grasp and sliced a hand downward, wielding his ki like a knife. Freeza screamed as a little more than half his tail fell to the ground, sliced cleanly off. Vegeta grabbed his wrist and yanked him face to face, pulling him forward until they were nose to nose. Power returned to him in an intoxicating rush and in a panic Freeza was forced to watch his eyes change from black to brilliant, icy blue. “I never once gave you permission to touch me, Freeza.”
With that Vegeta pinwheeled them both by Freeza’s wrist, slamming Freeza into the rocks he’d had Vegeta pinned against before firing a devastating ki attack while his former captor was too stunned to dodge. During the time it took him to recover Vegeta simply watched him struggle to regain enough equilibrium to fight again.
Freeza snarled up at him as soon as he realized what Vegeta was doing. Watching his pet fight his way through the delirium of pain he had inflicted, watching him push his body and mind beyond their capabilities to continue the vain struggle against him was one of his favorite things. To see the impotent rage boiling behind the agony in his eyes, to see him lying in that luxurious bed fit for a prince, his own blood and his master’s cum pooling under him gods it had been so satisfying to have one of the most potentially powerful beings in the universe believing it was under his thrall…
And now that satisfaction was reciprocated as his pet watched him panicking like a trapped bug squirming futilely under a microscope.
Vegeta smiled nastily, letting Freeza know his pleasure. “Take your time Lord Freeza. Whenever you’re ready.” The shame of it, the indignity of it was too much. His rage finally centered him and Freeza launched himself after Vegeta with a roar that disturbed the ocean waves far below them. Silently Vegeta met him in the air and proceeded to brutally demonstrate his mastery of his new form while Freeza increasingly faltered in his own.
Freeza’s energy attacks were strong, unbelievably so. Which made it all the more crushing when Vegeta simply deflected them as though they were child’s play, unfazed no matter how fast they came. The battle raged over land and sea and Freeza lost track of the time they’d spent fighting each other. Eventually he gave up and charged Vegeta with a cry that sounded of desperation, attacking with his fists. Vegeta obliged and took him on. They moved through the sky too fast for some of the onlookers’ eyes to track, shock waves the only indicators of their passing.
More and more Freeza was forced to take the defensive. After each hit Vegeta gave Freeza just enough time to steady himself, just enough time to prepare to attack before slamming into him, knocking him through the air, driving him higher and higher into the sky only to knock him back down so hard his impact rent great depressions in the earth’s crust.
Aside from Freeza’s incredulous yelling, pain-filled screams and the sounds of flesh being pummeled it was silent. Vegeta made no sound. Goku watched just as silently and unmoving, arms crossed and Tenshinhan was disturbed by what he was seeing. Goku had never tolerated this kind of cruelty before.
After Vegeta delivered a kick that knocked the Golden out of Freeza he crashed to the ground, reverting back to his fourth and true form on impact. In a daze he looked up from the wide outcropping where he lay to see an audience looking down on him from the higher cliffside. He snarled, enraged at the knowledge that Vegeta wanted those gathered to see him so thoroughly defeated. Vegeta landed more gracefully than he had and dropped down into base, blue hair and eyes darkening to black once more as he released his Super Saiyan state. Maybe it was Goku’s sense of fairness rubbing off on him, and maybe - more likely - he wanted Freeza to know just how comparatively weak his previously most powerful form was now.
Freeza seemed to know what was coming, backed away with fear flaring in his eyes but Vegeta never faltered, his focus never wavering. “That’s it, I can see it in your eyes. That’s what it’s like to be cornered by something immensely stronger than yourself. It’s beyond fear, isn’t it? Not knowing what I’m going to do to you, but knowing it’s going to be worse than death and there’s nothing you can do to stop it?”
The tyrant’s eyes widened as Vegeta stalked slowly toward him. The memories of every humiliation, ever degrading act he’d subjected his pet to returned to haunt him. He truly feared being on the receiving end of any of them. He shook his head in jerking motions, and breathed quietly, “Vegeta, don’t…”
“Don’t what? What don’t you want me to do to you, Freeza? You’re not a child so that limits my options, and Kakarot destroyed your future and everything you held dear the first time he defeated you. But I still have some alternatives. Where should I start? Should I use you for my own gain, battling you against my own foes like a tool? Or maybe it’s something even worse that you fear.”
Vegeta stalked closer and Freeza cried out in dismay when he realized he’d backed himself up against some rocks and could retreat no further. He could only stare into black eyes that burned with all the rage of the tortured child he had been. That cold voice dropped to a hiss and somehow became even colder.
“Should I chain you up like an animal? Rape you until you can’t even crawl? Then maybe hand your broken body over to someone who might like a turn?” At the flash of horror in his eyes Vegeta smiled coldly. “I should. They’re all experiences you should have at least once. But… I won’t. Your blood is foul to me and I’ve had enough contact with your body to last a lifetime. But I will give you pain, Freeza. A gift to take with you back to hell. Are you ready?”
Freeza answered desperately but Vegeta wasn’t in the mood to oblige him. He pummeled him relentlessly, leaving off energy attacks to the satisfying crunch of his fists crushing bone. When Freeza could no longer stand Vegeta dragged him up and kicked him into the air repeatedly like a ragdoll.
It was no fight. It was punishment, pure and simple.
Finally Tenshinhan had seen enough. “Goku, this fight is over! Freeza’s beaten, are you just going to let Vegeta do this?”
“Yes. I am,” he replied without turning.
Tenshinhan recoiled at the satisfaction in Goku’s tone. “You’ve become as bloodthirsty as he is.”
To his surprise Goku didn’t deny it. “On any other day you’d be wrong about both of us, but… not today. This is bigger than you think and what he’s doing is necessary, Tenshinhan. Don’t try to interfere, I mean it.”
His eyes widened. “And now you’re even threatening me? Dammit Goku, this isn’t like you, Freeza can’t fight back!”
Goku turned, anger in his eyes that startled Tenshinhan but before Goku could say anything anything Krillin beat him to the punch. “Okay, I’ve had just about enough of this. You weren’t there on Namek. It wasn’t just what Freeza did to Vegeta, it was how he did it and the things he said… There’s a lot of leftover shit there that we have no idea about. Vegeta must have his reasons and he’s earned more than a little trust. You know, I think hating him just helps you forget that you haven’t exactly been a saint your whole life. Why you think you deserve forgiveness and trust and he doesn’t is beyond me.”
The barb had hit close to the mark. It was finally enough to give Tenshinhan pause. His mouth snapped shut around whatever else he had to say. Satisfied that Tenshinhan would at long last start laying off Vegeta Krillin turned to see Goku staring at him in surprise. He just grinned and held his fist out for a bump that Goku returned gladly. They might not spend as much time together as they once did but he was relieved that their friendship was as strong as ever.
Next to him Gohan heard Piccolo murmur something under his breath that he barely heard and didn’t understand. He looked away from the fight below and frowned to see Piccolo looking as though he’d been struck. “Piccolo…?”
“A thousand years,” he said only a little louder. “Vegeta could keep that up for a thousand years and it still wouldn’t be enough.”
Gohan’s lips thinned out into a line. Whatever Vegeta was saying down there was lost to them so far away, but… he’d forgotten for a moment how good his teacher’s hearing was, and how close he and Vegeta had grown over the years. His mind raced but there was nothing he could say. He was intimately familiar with the damage Freeza’s decisions - and Freeza himself - had done to Vegeta’s psyche, and could only guess as to what he had to say to the tyrant now. He reached out a hand, touched Piccolo’s shoulder and hoped compassion was enough to lessen the pain.
They both turned their attention back to the fight and just in time.
Vegeta lifted Freeza high over his head, then slammed him down hard across an upraised knee, bending him in a painful arch before pushing down on his chin and legs. His body cracked and crunched as things inside him bent and broke.
Gurgling screams of pain echoed over the landscape but Vegeta’s expression never changed from his chilling scowl. He used to think this moment would bring pleasure beyond his wildest dreams, joy in vengeance strong enough to fill all the empty places his soul used to reside before Freeza’s tortures devoured it. Instead he felt something far less wild but far more healing.
Satisfaction.
After a minute or so of that treatment Vegeta simply stood, letting Freeza roll limply onto the ground. He struggled to move but could only manage to raise himself to his hands and knees, and barely that. He looked up at Vegeta standing over him and Goku saw it. He knew Freeza’s habits from the fight on Namek, through Vegeta’s vision saw that same look in Freeza’s eyes as he had then. Even now his hands clenched in the dirt as he gathered his remaining energies for an ultimate act of spite. If he couldn’t win, he would destroy the planet.
Vegeta, his hands!
//Understood.//
Vegeta stepped forward and smashed his knee into Freeza’s chin. He grabbed Freeza’s wrists as he pitched backward and planted a boot on his face. “You won’t destroy my homeworld a second time!” With that he used Freeza’s face as leverage as he ripped both of Freeza’s arms off.
Freeza stumbled backward, babbling in disbelief. Vegeta carelessly tossed the severed limbs aside and lifted him into the air by his his throat. He pulled his other fist back and with a roar it flew forward and tore into Freeza’s chest. The ex-warlord looked into Vegeta’s eyes, completely incredulous. “Me… losing to you… This… This can’t be happening!” he gasped out.
“Funny. I spent over twenty years saying exactly that.”
“Vegeta, please, you don’t understand! It was Beerus all along, all of it. If we work together we could take him down, rule together in his place! Imagine it, no one could stand against us!”
Vegeta pulled him a little closer. “I already know exactly what Beerus has done,” he said quietly. “And you’re no better than he is. I’d sooner trust a starving two-headed viper than trust you.”
Freeza’s disbelief increased further. “You know…? Then why are you working for him?!”
A nasty smile curved Vegeta’s lip as he felt Goku decide it was time to join the proceedings. “Who ever said I was working for Beerus?” Goku dropped in to stand side by side with his mate and Freeza smiled at first, thinking he was there to stop Vegeta from killing him. But one look in Goku’s eyes told him how wrong he was.
“There aren’t many of us left thanks to you and Beerus but we are united. Why the hell would he need you when he has me?”
“It doesn’t matter,” Freeza spat out in fury, ever the petulant child even in defeat. “I’ve owned him since before you were born and I’ll own him ‘til the day he dies. While you played children’s games in your happy life I had my biggest, meanest dogs breaking him in for me, mounting your Prince like the bitch he is and getting him used to being ridden. He will always be mine.”
Goku’s eyes narrowed. “Wrong again, Freeza. The blood loss must be making you as stupid as you seem to think me. Vegeta was never yours.”
Freeza felt the tingle of power building inside his chest and snarled with all the hatred within him. “No matter what you do Vegeta, no matter how strong you become… You’ll always… be... my… pet.”
“And that’s the last time you get to call me that,” Vegeta hissed. He let loose enough energy to reduce Freeza’s screaming form to ashes from the inside out. Vegeta watched his hand as the ash fell and blew away, revealing the dirt and blood-stained white glove underneath. Two quick blasts from Goku’s hand made short work of his arms as well. If anyone with the desire to wish the tyrant back remained alive they would have to resurrect him one piece of ash at a time.
A fear Vegeta hadn’t even known he had was evaporating, leaving a calm space behind. Gone was the memory of the all-powerful creature that had tormented his youth. In its place was a pathetic, defeated enemy on his hands and knees begging for mercy. Goku felt the release almost as strongly as he did.
Vegeta’s skin and soul still crawled from Freeza’s touch. Between his need to be free of that filth and the almost euphoric satisfaction of finally having Freeza dead by his hand Vegeta’s low swing came to an abrupt end.
Mindful of watching eyes Goku took Vegeta’s hand instead of the full, clothes-shredding tackle he really wanted. Vegeta’s eyes met his with much the same thought; he could feel the telltale warm tingle under his skin that warned of his body ramping up again. With a smirk that sent a bolt straight to Vegeta’s groin Goku slowly removed one of his gloves, holding his eyes with that smoldering gaze the entire time. With exaggerated care he laced their fingers together and Vegeta’s tail grew a mind of its own, uncurling from his waist to trace a twisting pattern on its way to Goku’s leg.
The slow build gave way to an intense wave, and like a flashover it exploded over Goku as well. He spared a thought for their children; they needed privacy but neither one of them wanted to return to Beerus’ planet without seeing them all.
“I’m sure Whis will give us a few days,” Vegeta proposed. “He’ll get Beerus off planet safely. We can stay here and spend some time with the kids when we come up for air.”
It was a plan Goku could get behind. That shaky, dirty feeling Vegeta had was worse than it had been in a long time. “I haven’t forgotten what I owe you,” he said, gentle for the moment.
Vegeta’s lips parted in surprise and Goku couldn’t look away as they slowly curled into a smile. He felt a shudder run through Vegeta’s frame as his arm slipped behind his back. “Take me home,” Vegeta growled.
“Keep flicking that tail at me and I’m going to take you here.”
Goku’s hand didn’t even make it to his forehead. A voice stopped him before he could Transmit them away from an audience.
“Are you even listening to me? I said get up here!” Beerus roared, irritated at having to repeat himself.
Vegeta sighed heavily while Goku frowned. Vegeta’s scent was much stronger than it had been when they’d arrived; the thought of him around anyone else made Goku nervous. With regret he handed back the pilfered glove and watched that much-loved skin disappear under the heavy fabric.
//It can’t be helped. Let’s get this over with.// Before they lifted off he added with a smirk, //If anyone misbehaves I’ll leave the discipline to you. Feel free to be territorial if it makes you feel better.//
Goku blinked at Vegeta in surprise for a moment before he returned the grin with a chuckle. Sometimes he forgot how much Vegeta loved it when he embraced his - as he called it - ‘primitive Saiyan self.’ Reluctantly they separated and flew up to the higher cliff where Beerus waited impatiently. “No time for congratulations, there’s work to be done. Whis. Go and find Champa. It’s urgent. We have some long-standing arguments that need to be settled once and for all, and now is the time.”
As Beerus spoke Vegeta’s tail had continued to try its damndest to get Goku’s attention and had instead garnered the rapt fascination of Tenshinhan and Krillin. Vegeta frowned. If anything he expected Gohan to be the problem, not the two humans. But though the younger Son’s sexual interest was clearly peaked he hadn’t acted on it in the least.
On the other hand Tenshinhan shifted uncomfortably as if his pants had suddenly gotten too small. Already more than a little annoyed with him Goku’s hackles rose when he saw his old rival and friend eye-banging his mate but he ignored it as best he could until Tenshinhan’s hand stretched out toward that tail that was dancing for him.
It twisted deftly away from the attempt but Goku shot into his Super Saiyan form, roaring at the interloper. The display shocked some sense into the two pairs of unfocused eyes, much to the amusement of everyone except Tenshinhan and Beerus who pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned. Even Gohan hid a chuckle or two behind his hand. Krillin rubbed his head sheepishly and apologized. At least he had some idea of what had just happened. Tenshinhan was clueless and extremely confused as to why he suddenly found someone he’d distrusted so irresistible.
Krillin decided Tenshinhan had been enough of a singular ass-bucket to Vegeta as to deserve a little punishment. He’d let the three-eyed giant of a man fret over and question his entire sexual history for a week before he fessed up that it was just a quirk of Saiyan biology.
He smiled to himself, shifting because his own pants felt a little too tight. He and 18 would be busy for a while.
Maybe two weeks.
Exchanging amused glances with Piccolo Vegeta tucked his wandering tail back around his waist with an effort. His scent was still going to keep them aroused but if what Gohan had said about his human heritage allowing him to hold himself back for a while was true then they could control themselves as well. Especially with Goku occasionally snarling a reminder at them.
“Are you two even listening to me?!” Beerus yelled, fed up with being ignored.
“Yes, yes,” Vegeta growled. “Champa must be found urgently.” His body was ramping up quickly and he was already getting uncomfortable. The faster they could humor Beerus and leave all the better.
“Wait, isn’t Champa your brother?” Goku asked, finally bothering to re-enter the conversation.
Beerus nodded. “And my Universe Six counterpart who happens to be an incredibly arrogant thorn in my side. Now go Whis, this is urgent. I can’t stand him thinking he’s better than me one second longer than I have to. And it will give me a chance to find out what he’s been up to lately.”
“What does that have to do with us?” Vegeta asked impatiently.
At this Beerus smiled dangerously. “Whis will take Goku with him. It will be good for him to broaden his horizons.”
Whis’ eyes glanced quickly over at Vegeta, who was getting worse by the minute though he knew better than to show it. Even though Beerus had forbidden Vegeta’s travel to Universe Six he decided to bank on the cat’s mercurial nature and try anyway. “In that case I’d be more than happy to take them both!” he proposed cheerfully.
“Nonsense. Vegeta is tired. He needs to stay here and rest. I will stay here as well and watch over him until you return.”
“He needs to stay with me,” Goku said in a low growl, moving closer to Vegeta.
Beerus’ eyes narrowed dangerously. “Are you refusing to follow an order?”
“He needs me,” Goku repeated heedlessly.
“You’ll do as I say or I’ll crush this puny planet and you along with it!” Beerus roared. “I know for a fact that he’ll have time to watch you die before he follows after you and I’ll make certain he has a front row seat.”
Goku shook, teetering on the edge of control and Vegeta dragged himself out of his own shock.
//Stand down Kakarot. This is what we’ve been waiting for.//
But… Transmitting from another universe? How do we even do that, it’s too far!
//Not for us. No matter where we are we’re never separate from one another. I know we’ve never tried it before, but… we’ll have to work it out on the fly. I’m strong enough, I can hold out until you get here, it won’t be more than a day.//
It’s not your strength I’m worried about, Vegeta. You’re already starting to hurt and your focus is going to go totally off pretty soon. I can’t leave you alone with him!
Goku took a step toward him and Vegeta took a quick step back, tightening his arms against his body.
//Don’t. If you touch me it will only get worse.// Goku noticed his tail was wrapped tightly around his waist but its muscles were twitching as he fought to keep it there, not twining through the air telegraphing his need to his mate the way it usually did at these times.
“Vegeta, I swore I’d never leave you, I… I don’t think I can do this.”
It was no more than a whisper but in it Vegeta heard everything Goku was feeling. He’d asked Goku to embrace his Saiyan heritage and now he was going back on that nature, asking him to leave his mate not only in heat, but in arm’s reach of someone neither one of them trusted. Vegeta recognized he was asking too much.
He took a deep breath, sliding off his gloves again and steeling himself for touch before reaching out to a startled Goku, taking his head in his hands and bringing their foreheads together. At the touch the fire growing in his body dampened to a pleasant heat, believing it would get what it needed. In that brief relief he found every last remaining shred of calm within him and gave it to his mate, feeling Goku relax into his touch.
//This is the only way to kill Beerus without getting Whis involved or endangering our children.//
Are you sure…? I could just play the ‘idiot’ card and take you away, it’s worked before… Or we could just fight him now, we’re so strong when we’re together, we could take them both on-
//I wish there was another way. He’s not fucking around, if we go against him he won’t hesitate to start killing. And with everything Whis knows about fusion I’m almost certain he and Beerus can fuse, and that’s exactly what Beerus will demand if they’re together. I thought about telling you but… I didn’t want to concern you.//
He could feel Goku’s shock but knew it had set him back on course; that was more of a fight than they could win right now. //I’ll take him to my house, the less people he’s around the smaller the chance something will set him off, and the less people I’m around, the better. It’s almost over, Kakarot. Now… turn around… and go.//
As soon as he let go of Goku the fire inside Vegeta roared back to life, even stronger now that it had been denied. He held the pain in it back from Goku as best he could but the jump in his scent would be unmistakable.
Goku stared at him for a long moment, fists clenching at his sides. Until he returned Vegeta would be the only thing standing between Earth and Beerus’ temper and boredom. As he turned to go he saw his son staring at him in disbelief. He didn’t know if he’d ever fully trust his son again, but at the very least someone besides Vegeta should know what was happening and why he was leaving. It wasn’t as smooth a job as Vegeta would have done but from Gohan’s momentary loss of equilibrium he knew the quick burst of information had been delivered. If nothing else he would know to stay away from the irresistible temptation Vegeta was about to become to him.
“Whis. I’m ready, let’s go.” Goku put a hand to Whis’ back, sitting cross-legged as he lifted them both into the air.
“Steady on, Goku. He survived Freeza. He’ll survive Beerus as well.”
“I know you’re trying but there’s nothing that’s going to make either one of us feel better about this. Let’s get moving.”
Whis just sighed, knowing Goku was right.
Goku knew that one glance back would undo his resolve so he stared straight ahead as they moved away from the Earth. Vegeta was in the most danger, but it was his steady presence giving strength to him as the distance between them increased.
//We can do this, Kakarot. We have to.//

Next time: Allies emerge while Vegeta and Goku each deal with the difficulties of distance.
ZeoViolet: I’m so sorry to hear the bad news. I haven’t lost a parent but I will admit to being very afraid of that day. I hope this was a good distraction. And I hope Freeza’s comeuppance was as satisfying to read as it was to write. :)
