Chapter 26; Drifting
"Slow down," Ed whispered, wanting the ride to last. Roy complied, but not before running another stop light. The streets in the east part of town were desolated since everyone was at the drags on the other side of town. When they exited the city, the only thing illuminating the night was the cars headlights and the full moon.
Ed looked up at the illuminating orb in the sky. As a child, he thought it followed him everywhere. As if whoever had made it, had made it just for him. He laughed at his past naivety.
Roy let a grin cross his lips when he heard the blond’s soft laughter float to his ears. He knew Ed would like this. The blond had struck him as the type of guy with the need for spontaneity.
Ed began to laugh lightly. "Can you believe the stunt Maes and Gracia pulled tonight?"
A smile curled on Roy’s lips. At least Ed was talking to him now. He moved his hand to the radio, thinking some music could lighten up the mood. Maybe something classical, and by classical it meant hits from 20 years back. There was one station that played older hits and one song was just ending. There wasn’t an annoying radio host at this hour, the radio jukebox playing random songs. Next up was Alexia’s ‘Hold On’. Although Roy didn’t like love songs that much, it seemed to have an effect on Ed who turned his attention to the radio.
Every day I try to hide
My fears to be alone
Every day I live
You know I try
To face my broken life with force
I’ve learned by now to love
I’ve found your shining light above
Roy glanced at Ed and was a little confused. He must have misinterpreted the situation because Ed had grown stiff in his seat. Maybe he wasn’t the type of guy who would appreciate the romantic mood Roy was trying to create.
I hold on to your light to be together
I recall the time we were so close
I hold on to your light to be together
With you once again…
’I definitely screwed up,’ Roy thought as Ed turned the radio off and there was a thick silence in the car. He waited for the did-you-really-think-I-would-forgive-you speech, but it never came. Ed only stared right ahead. He didn’t even ask Roy to take him home or drop him off somewhere. Not knowing what he had done wrong this time was really getting to the raven haired driver.
Roy was about to open his mouth and blow his what ever small chance to explain himself (if possible), but Ed spoke up first. ”It’s not you. It was the song. It…it reminds me of him.”
’Well, that explains much.’ Roy glanced at Ed and then back at the road. Love song, a ’him’…Roy could do the math, it was just that he had thought that he was Ed’s first guy intimately.
”Him?” Roy asked, trying to as silently as possible get rid of the lump that had formed in his throat.
”My father.”
’Then again, I failed math in high-school.’ Roy could tell from the tone of Ed’s voice that it was a touchy subject even if the blond had only said two words. He didn’t plan on prying, but when he recalled what had happened yesterday at the garage, it only fueled his curiosity.
”Your father wouldn’t happen to be the reason why you moved to Central, would he?” If he remembered to be subtle, maybe Ed would be able to explain a few things in a settle manner. Like how close he was with his brother, Envy. Roy didn’t know if he had to be worried: Ed had busted the pretty boy’s lip and face, but then again, Envy had let it slide. There seemed to be more to Ed than his driving and mechanic skills. Or maybe Roy was just paranoid.
Ed leaned back in his seat, looking out the window. Normally he would have said that he didn’t want to talk about his father, but surprisingly, even to himself, he said: ”He left my mother when me and Al were kids.” He realized Roy hadn’t asked for that information but it was on the top of Ed’s head. Every time ’Hold On’ played, his mother would get this distant look on her face. He knew it reminded her of her husband, it had been their song. Late at night when she thought she was alone in the kitchen, sipping on tea or washing the dishes after their evening meal, when that song was on, Ed had sometimes seen her cry. His mother was a strong woman but when it came to their father, she would always be moved. A weary smile, a dazed look, or even tears.
Ed sighed. He looked over at Roy who had his eyes on the dark road ahead. For once the lead racer was discreet, not saying anything but listening. Well, he might as well answer the man’s question and throw away the ’non-of-your-business’ attitude.
”I hate that bastard for leaving us. Still, I came here and tried to find him after all these years.” That was a part of the truth. Ed might be spilling his heart but he wasn’t going to go into the details such as the black envelope and the Ouroboros. ”We knew he had a house here and used to have another family before he married my mother. I haven’t found him, and the trail is stone cold. It was a waste of time, but it didn’t turn out so bad after all.”
Al could get a proper education and Ed…well, Ed had found a way of life that suited him just fine. A job at a garage, friends that were into the same as him, and then…love?
”By other family, you mean Envy?” Roy asked tactically. Honestly, Ed’s story had moved him and he was surprised. If someone like Ed had left unmentioned something like family affairs, it usually meant that it would stay unmentioned. But Ed had opened up and Roy felt he understood the blond at higher levels now. It was as if Ed was showing him his dark side of the moon.
But stories say that monsters live on the dark side of the moon. When Roy had posed the question, Ed knew that the lead racer had a second agenda, most likely concerning Envy. He couldn’t admit to having more than once come in contact with the crime organization known as the Ouroboros, but he didn’t want to lie to Roy either. Lies had messed things up before between them.
Ed nodded, trying to look like he wasn’t thinking about which words to use. ”I knew about Envy since I was a kid. After the bastard of a father left, he didn’t even send us a single letter. I came in contact with Envy, but it seemed like he didn’t know about the bastard whereabouts any more than I did.”
”Your father,” Roy started but held his tongue. ’His father is Hohenheim of Light.’ Roy really didn’t need to ask that question, for all he knew, Ed only knew the man as his father. And Roy didn’t ant to bring up how he knew the man. Ed quirked an eyebrow and Roy realized he would have to cover his ass. Unlike Ed, he wasn’t ready to go into his dark past. ”I wonder what he would think if he knew one of his sons is a criminal and the other a street racer.” He said.
Ed snorted. ”I don’t care a fuck what he would think. He wasn’t there so he has no right to complain about how his sons turned out.”
”Luckily, your mother had two sons.” Roy said out of the blue. Ed quirked his brow. ”You won’t let Al race and you make sure he goes to school. And obviously, you want to protect and care for your mother. You’re the man your father wasn’t. Not many men can live up to such.”
They drove in silence for a while up a hill, and when the road started twisting and turning, Ed didn’t need to see Roy reach for the car gear stick and hit the gas. He could feel it. They started drifting up the hill. It was an amazing feeling, even though Ed wasn’t the one driving.
The car turned in the opposite direction of the wheels because the rear slip angle was greater than the front slip angle. Roy turned the wheel right, and the car turned to the left. Left, right. Right, left. If the driver was in control of this, then it was true drifting. If not, then it was just bad and dangerous driving.
Ed had to admit, the lead racer could drift.
”Before I started racing, me and the guys came to this very place to drift.” Roy said, making Ed look up at him. ”But even before we got our licenses, me, Maes and Jean would cut class and drive on our bicycles up here to watch the older kids drift.”
Ed didn’t know why Roy was telling him this, but he listened intently.
”One day this guy let me sit in his car while he did some wicked drifting. Later that day he raced another driver and won. The guy had this indescribable look on his face when he stepped out of the car after the race. Seeing him, I knew I wanted to race. The day I got my license I also got my first speeding ticket, and a week later I spent a night in jail for dangerous driving. After that, I knew I didn’t like cops.” Roy said with a smile. Ed laughed, it really did sound like Roy, getting into trouble. Ed had Scar to thank for not spending a night in jail on more than one occasion.
”It was in jail you met Speed, wasn’t it?” Ed asked. Roy gritted his teeth, wondering why the blue haired man kept popping up.
”Yes. I suppose he told you that.”
”Among other things,” Ed responded, knowing he was playing with fire. ”He told me you two used to go steady.”
”Which happens to be none of your business,” Roy stated, ending the discussion. So much for friendly conversation.
Ed frowned. ”And I guess your relationship with Jenny Havoc is none of my business either,” he said out loud.
”Damn right,” Roy said.
”Pull over.”
”What?”
”Pull over,” Ed repeated sternly.
”Why?”
”I need a cigarette.”
Roy kept on driving with no intention on pulling over. The rustling sound made him glance at Ed, seeing that the blond had pulled out his pack of cigarettes and put on between his lips with every intention to break car-rule number one.
”What the hell do you think you are doing?” Roy demanded when Ed pulled out his lighter.
”Either you pull over or I’ll light it in here and you can blame yourself for the ruined interior,” Ed threatened. Roy didn’t respond well to threats and grabbed Ed’s cigarette against the blond’s protests, breaking it in his fist and throwing it out the car window. Ed grunted and slammed his head against his seat.
”Is she that good in bed?” Ed asked although it killed him.
”Who?” Roy asked. Ed gave him a glare that said ’who-do-you-think-asshole?’. ”I told you, it’s none of your goddamn business.”
”Oh, I’m sorry,” Ed said, feigning polite. ”Were you speaking to me or sleeping with somebody else?”
Roy growled, having enough of smart assed word games. ”You really want to know? She’s one of the best I’ve had, and when she goes down on me I—”
”Okay, now I’m sick. Pull over.”
Roy glanced at Ed, the blond looking really pale and uncomfortable. ”No shit?”
”No shit, I’m about to toss. So if you don’t want to ruin your interior…”
Roy pulled over and Ed almost kicked the car door open, stepping out and taking a deep breath to calm down. Soon after Roy decided to step out as well, the cool night air feeling good on his skin unlike the smell of smoke reaching his nose. He looked at Ed’s backside over the car roof, a trail of thin smoke slithering from the blond. That sneaky bastard.
Roy walked around the car and came to stand next to Ed, leaning his back on the car. The blond still looked pale. Maybe the sudden flood of information was too much for the blond to handle. Ed had heard worse from Roy and in more detail, but even Roy knew that it was a different thing to tell about a random woman than talk about him and a girl Ed hated.
Ed took a deep drag and exhaled a thicker cloud of smoke. Roy shook his head. ”I thought you quit.”
”Screw you,” Ed retorted and blew the second cloud of smoke right in Roy’s face, the unhealthy smoke stinging Roy’s eyes but the raven haired man didn’t even flinch. “Oh, I’m sorry. That’s Jenny’s job.”
“Will you just shut up about that woman already?!” Roy asked annoyed. Ed threw the remains of is cigarette on the ground and started walking. “And where the hell do you think you are going?”
“The hell away from you!” Ed yelled back.
“Where to? Central is a mile away.”
“Then I better start walking,” Ed said and looked around. “It’s that way right?” He said pointing down the hill towards small lights, not expecting an answer. Ed started walking down the slide, deciding to take a short cut by walking straight don rather than to follow the road and go around and around the hill.
“You can’t be serious.” Roy said shaking his head, moving from his car to the edge of the road, looking at the blond half walking, and half sliding down the slope. The blond’s stupidity had officially reached whole new heights.
“Watch me!” Ed yelled, his voice barely audible but was still in the line of view. Ed turned around to se if the lead racer was still watching, taking a step forward, stepping on a lose rock and losing his balance. Ed fell down on his side, gravity and the lose rocks doing the rest as he slid down the hill.
“Fuck!”
“Edward!”
********************************************************************************
”Take them off.”
”Fuck you Colonel-bastard.”
”Don’t start with me,” Roy said. ”Just take off your pants. You’re bleeding.” The raven haired man reached for the buckle of Ed’s belt. The blond grabbed his hands and pushed them away, grunting as he undid his pants himself and slowly slid them down his thighs, hissing as the fabric of the jeans slid over the cuts. Ed pulled his torn jeans to his knees and looked at the bleeding scratches. Some sharp rocks had cut through his pants and cut the skin. It wasn’t anything serious but the cuts stung like hell.
Roy moved to the back and gently touched the most damaged part on Ed’s thigh, making the blond hiss and back farther into the backseat.
”Don’t touch me!” Ed hissed and moved away when Roy sat down next to him in the back of his car.
”It doesn’t look so bad.” Roy said looking at the bruises forming. ”You sure you weren’t hurt?”
Ed shook his head. The only thing badly injured was his pride and ego. Just when he was going to make a dramatic escape, he had been so damn clumsy and slid down the hill side. Roy had run down the hill, almost falling himself in the process. It had ended with Roy carrying Ed back up to the car and setting him in the back seat of the Eclipse. Really, talk about embarrassing!
Ed kicked off his shoes and slid the pants down the rest of the way. He didn’t really care that his ankle hurt. He may have strained it but it was the least of his worries when sitting into the back seat of Roy’s car in a ruined sweater and his boxers. He felt miserable, his head hanging down in defeat. “Go on, laugh. Just…” ‘Just don’t sit there looking at me like that.’
Roy shook his head. He couldn’t even find the will to be angry with the blond. He flicked his tongue over his thumb and gently stroke away the dirt and blood from Ed’s skin around a cut on the blond’s thigh, the blond flinching but not saying anything.
“You really know how to fall and get bruised,” Roy said.
‘Yeah, like fall for you and get my heart torn out of my chest,” Ed thought. “So, are you going to drive me home or to the hospital.”
“Neither. We need to talk.”
“That’s funny. Just a moment ago you were giving me the silent treatment.” Ed said sarcastically.
“That was before I overestimated you, thinking you wouldn’t be so stupid to take a tumble down the hill to prove a stupid point.” Roy muttered.
Ed rolled his eyes. “It has to be illegal to make fun of someone who is in pain like this.”
“You can still be a pain in the ass, so you are not that far gone. And as long as you are not bleeding to death, you can at least shut up and listen.” Ed sighed and turned his glance at Roy waiting for whatever the raven haired man had to say. “I’m…sorry…” Roy pressed out the two hardest words for him.
“Sorry for what?” Ed asked. Roy gave him the ‘you-know-very-well’ look, not going to go so low that he would start counting all the mistakes he had done the past month. But saying he was just sorry wasn’t enough for Ed, and Roy knew that.
“I’m sorry I made you fall down the hill, although you did it to yourself.” Roy quickly added. Ed sighed. He couldn’t argue with that.
“Yeah, well, I had it coming.”
“Does it still hurt?”
“What do you think? First you sleep with her and then you take her out on a fancy dinner, everything in front of me to rub t in. You might as well rub salt in these cuts you sadistic bastard…and you were talking about the cuts just now…weren’t you?”
Ed felt a blush rise to his cheeks, hoping he wouldn’t have misunderstood Roy’s question. Roy shook his head again and grabbed Ed’s chin, forcing the blond to look him in the eyes.
“I didn’t sleep with her. I didn’t ask her to dinner. And I certainly didn’t plan any of it.” He said sternly, onyx piercing into Ed’s amber to make sue the blond understood how serious he was. “It wasn’t my intention to hurt you. Damnit, you’re so…” Roy grunted and pressed his lips against Ed’s, forming a kiss.
Ed didn’t respond at first, but after repeating in his head what Roy had just told him, he sighed against the man’s mouth and moved his hand to the base of Roy’s neck and brought him closer, moving his lips against the other man’s mouth. Roy pressed against Ed and had the blond leaning against the space where the car missed a door, placing himself between Ed’s legs, never breaking the kiss. His one hand snuck under Ed’s sweater, up the taunt abs and chest, flicking a nipple with his thumb before gently rolling it between two fingers while is other hand ran up and down Ed’s thighs.
The blond suddenly hissed, almost biting Roy’s tongue. Roy quickly moved his hand away, realizing that he had been stroking the scratches that were still raw. Ed however didn’t want the small discomfort to stop what was happening and pulled Roy back down by the collar of Roy’s shirt for a passionate kiss before he pushed the man away.
Ed sat up and maneuvered himself in the narrow space to sit down in Roy’s lap, straddling the older man as he sat upright in the car seat. Roy liked the way Ed became aggressive, feeling himself get harder when Ed placed Roy’s hands on his hips and leaned in for more kisses, their tongues began to explore each other’s mouths.
Roy’s lips left Ed’s and planed warm, wet kisses down the blond’s chin and neck. He chuckled softly into the hollow of Ed’s neck. "Miss me?"
Ed didn’t answer, not wanting to admit to Roy, or himself for that matter, how much he’d missed the lead racer. How much he’d missed Roy’s touch. His kiss. Ed didn’t want him to know that for the past few nights, he’d been awakened by the phantom feeling of Roy’s fingers scorching his damp body, Roy’s lips searing through his own, and Roy’s deep voice running hot shivers up his spine.
Roy probably already knew what he was doing to the blond. ‘Cocky bastard.’
Ed started undoing the buttons on Roy’s shirt, his fingers fumbling and the blond’ cursed frustrated. Roy had it easier, sliding his hands up Ed’s sides, hands roaming over warm skin causing shivers t run up Ed’s spine. The blond stopped his work on the buttons when Roy lifted the sweater up Ed’s torso and Ed slid it all the way off, having some trouble to get it over his head when his arms bumped against the car roof. Meanwhile, Roy grabbed his own shirt and pulled it open, not caring that he few buttons left undone were torn off. He needed Ed badly, and even if it was in the back seat of his Eclipse…
“Déjà-vu,” Roy said when Ed threw his sweater into the front seat.
“Huh?”
“This is the same car,” Roy whispered against Ed’s skin as he trailed his mouth over the blond’s chest, making Ed blush at the memory. Knowing what happened last time, Roy should have been prepared when Ed moved his hips, grinding his groin against the older man beneath him. The older man hissed and carefully bit down on one of Ed’s nipples. Ed did it again and Roy bit him harder, causing Ed to hiss before moaning softly as Roy started lapping on the small, throbbing nub.
Ed was tugging on his black t-shirt and Roy complied by taking it off, Ed grabbing it and tossing it into the front as well. The blond then started fumbling with Roy’s belt and it was quit clear hat the blond wanted. The buckle was much easier to undo than the buttons and the zipper was pulled down quickly. Roy gasped when Ed’s hand cupped his groin, stroking as he tried to find the flip of his boxer’s while suckling on Roy’s neck. Ed pulled back when his fingers made contact with flesh and fished out Roy’s straining cock, running his hand up and down the impressive length.
“Are all men big like you?” Ed praised. “I’ve only seen guys at the locker rooms, and they weren’t nearly this big. What if I can’t handle you inside of me?” The blond laughed when Roy froze. “Just kidding old man,” Ed smiled at him. Roy smirked and pulled Ed for another soaring kiss, softly grunting against Ed’s mouth as the blond jerked him off, running his thumb over the head and spreading the drop of precum. Roy kept nibbling on Ed’s lips while his hands moved down to Ed’s hips and tugged at the waist band of E’s boxers. With some difficulty they were able to free Ed from his last garment and pull Roy’s pants and boxers down to his knees before assuming their previous position with Ed straddling Roy. The lead racer was pleased to see Ed was just as aroused, the blond’s own erection pocking him in the stomach.
Roy grabbed one of Ed’s buttocks, bringing the younger man closer so he could grasp both Ed and his own erection in his fist, slowly fisting both cocks, rubbing them together, Ed’s hand soon joining in. Both panted heavily as their hands moved up and down, but when Ed began to grind, Roy knew the blond wanted more.
Roy left the masturbation to Ed, bringing his hand up to Ed’s flushed face while the other kneaded the blond’s buttock. Ed took two of Roy’s fingers into his mouth, suckling on them greedily, making the older man groan s he imagined what that mouth could do on other parts of his body. But they didn’t have the time and Roy had set his mind on giving the blond the ride of his life.
“Up,” Roy whispered, barely loud enough for Ed to hear. They let go of their throbbing cocks and Ed moved to stand on his knees, having to bend forth since they had limited space, his thighs spread over Roy’s lap. Roy brought the two fingers Ed had coated with his saliva to the blond’s buttocks and after spreading the cheeks he teased the hidden opening before gently inserting first one and then the second finger into Ed’s hot and waiting cavern. Ed bucked, hitting his head on the car roof as he did, but he was too occupied with the sensation he was feeling in his ass than his head.
Roy moved his fingers in a steady rhythm, bucking his hips simultaneously, imagining the tightness around his fingers engulfing his erection. He began scissoring his fingers, gently stretching the opening, preparing Ed for a single, larger limb than his probing fingers. Ed was moaning, grasping Roy by the shoulders, Roy’s mouth latched onto Ed’s neck, suckling and lapping.
When Roy withdrew his fingers Ed knew it was a sign for him to sit back down. As he moved down, he felt the tip of Roy’s cock press against his opening. He moved lower, Roy holding his own cock by the root to guide it inside Ed. When the head was inside, Roy could place his hands on Ed’s hips but didn’t push the blond down. Ed lowered himself down in his own pace, taking in the other man inch by inch. And there were many inches!
When finally nestled in Roy’s lap, Ed grasped the seat behind Roy and used his arms and thighs to move up before letting gravity do the rest, howling out in pleasure when Roy hit that spot deep inside him.
“Oh God,” Ed moaned out loud. He moved again and it felt even better. “Oh Roy!”
“Damnit Ed! So good!” Roy groaned, grasping Ed’s hips and bucking upwards every time Ed slid down his shaft.
Ed was shaking so violently that he thought he was going to collapse. He tossed his head and mewled, panting out “Yes, yes,” whenever he was able. Roy’s nails dug into Ed’s waist and his fingers curled on the blond’s skin, and Ed slammed down so deep and hard that he knew he wouldn’t be able to sit normally for a while.
Roy grasped Ed’s weeping cock and fisted him while Ed continued to move on top of him. “Ah, Roy…I can’t…Aaahhhh!” Ed howled, hot seed erupting from his shaft, coating their stomachs. Roy sounded like a suffering animal as he leaned back in is seat and arched his back, Ed feeling how floods of hot liquids were sprouted inside him.
Ed slumped down against Roy’s chest boneless, resting his head on the man’s shoulder, panting and feeling so damn good. Roy wrapped his arm around the blond and smelled Ed’s hair, noticing how much hair spray and gel the blond had used. But he really couldn’t be bothered by how a date started as long as it ended the same way.
“I did,” Roy heard a small voice mumble against his neck. He stroke the blond’s back almost lovingly.
“What?”
“Miss you.”
Roy couldn’t help the smile that spread on his face. He placed a kiss on Ed’s neck, smirking at the lovebite forming.
“I missed you too, Fullmetal.”

“Fuck!”
“Edward!”
