Chapter 3
They drove down the dark streets, looking for a descent bar or club. Catherine was in the backseat with Hilde, trying to reassure her that everything was going to be alright, while Trowa eyed for somewhere to park, even getting a little frustrated with the crowded lot.
The club’s floors were lightly vibrating from the sub-woofers that lay face down on the floor next to the DJ system with the bass cranked as high as it would go, lights flashed and shone around, a light mist covered the dance floor that was crowded with drunk, half-drunk and slightly sobered clubbers. There were only a few people sitting down around the circle, metal covered tables, the seating was a red vinyl that seemed burgundy in the dim light. People rushed to and fro in front of them, and Trowa tried to make his way back to the girls, handing each of them a cooler. Hilde snapped out of her daze and took the frosted bottle and smiled. She looked over the filled decanter, reminded of the few times that she found Duo drunk and stayed outside as he was mindlessly trashed the house in a blind, drunken rage.
“It’s ok Hilde… it’s not going to bite back at you.” She turned her head to Catherine who was again, smiling, before she ran over to where Trowa was sitting when he had found a quaint booth in a corner.
As she sat down next to Trowa, she opened the bottle and slowly lifted it to her mouth, taking in a bit of the content. As she placed down the bottle on the table, she looked up to Trowa with a questioning face. “There isn’t even any alcohol in it…” He nodded his head and placed down his bottle as well. “I know, it’s only fruit punch. I figured you wouldn’t want to drink alcohol after that last outburst Duo had that made him quit… and besides.. we need a designated driver anyway..” He took another drink as she sighed in relief, and Catherine laughed silently.
The hours passed and the club started to fill even more, until they had to close up the rope before anyone else got in. Catherine had continuously whispered something to Trowa all night, but Hilde had never found out what it was. Trowa’s eyes scanned quickly back and forth over the dance floor, and once his eyes were fixed, he got up and Catherine started snickering. She had been more than drunk, and both Trowa and Hilde had taken her wallet or any other spare change before she bought another drink and passed out. As Trowa rose up he looked to Hilde quickly for a moment, “Do you want to dance?” Hilde was a little shocked, Trowa, Trowa Barton, was asking her to dance, just the thought of Trowa and dancing willingly was all a little strange to her, but she nodded and got up. Even after all the drinks he had, he never even wobbled. He went over to the placed he was looking towards earlier and he found that it was still baron to his relief. The empty space seemed like it was rightfully reserved for them.
With each passing moment, they seemed to draw closer to each other, before Hilde placed her arms around his neck, and he placed his around her small waist, it was then when it seemed they couldn’t be drawn any closer to each other, their bodies touched and moved to the rhythm of the music.
