CHAPTER 3
The next morning Trowa woke to find an empty house and a note on the bedside table.
Dear Trowa, it read.
Please forgive me for not being there when you woke. I know you may not have realized it but yesterday evening I was having a problem. You see I was barely able to control myself around you. You don’t know how much I just wanted to grab you and force you to see how I care for you and make you trust me again! If we can’t have trust then this won’t work, and Trowa, if I were you I wouldn’t trust me ever again with what I had done. I’m so sorry Trowa, I know I must now be hurting you once again but I’m afraid that we are just not meant to be together. Maybe some time in the future we can be friends but I ruined my chances with you and now I will face the consequences of my actions. I hope that someday we will see each other again. But for now please take all your belongings and go to Wufei’s house. Don’t call and don’t try to contact me. I know this must hurt but I believe it is the best for both of us. Please don’t cry over me too much, and I hope you will not hate me too much. Although it doesn’t seem like it I love you I always have and I always will. I will remember you always and I hope you will remember me,

Quatre had abandoned him. Trowa let out a wail. He had tried to trust Quatre again and all that had happened was that he was betrayed again. He curled himself into a ball and stayed that way, sobbing, and falling in and out of a restless sleep.
A few hours later he heard the phone ringing downstairs. He let it ring until the answer machine got it.
“Trowa?” said Wufei’s voice. “Trowa, are you there? If you are please answer me! If not then well Quatre just ignore this message. I’m sure you don’t care anyway.” Trowa could hear a distinct sneer in Wufei’s voice as he said the last sentence. The answer machine beeped signifying the end of the message. Trowa slowly uncurled and walked to the phone. He dialed Wufei’s number.
“Hello?”
“Wufei? It’s me, Trowa.” He croaked.
“Trowa? Where are you?”
“I’m at Quatre’s house.”
“What are you doing there?”
“I wanted to see if Quatre and I could work things out.”
“Are you sure it’s not too early for that?”
“Well obviously it is.”
“Trowa? What are you talking about?”
“I spent the night here last night.”
“What?! Are you ok? Nothing happened right? I swear if he hurt you... I’ll, I’ll... I’ll kill him.”
“No! No Wufei I’m alright, in fact Quatre didn’t touch me.”
“Humph.”
“Really Wufei. I’m fine. But I don’t want to stay here any longer. Can I come back to your house? Permanently?”
“Yeah, of course. You sure you’re okay?”
“I will be, eventually. Sorry if I scared you Wufei. I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
“It’s ok. See you then.”
Trowa shook his head as he hung up the phone. Wufei was a really protective person underneath his hard exterior. Trowa made the bed and then got out his suitcases and packed the rest of his things into them. After calling a taxi to help him carry his suitcases he waited outside for it to arrive so he didn’t have to be surrounded by the memories of happier times. When the cab arrived Trowa climbed in and left for Wufei’s house without a backwards glance.
When he walked in the door Trowa was met by a very uptight Wufei. After seeing that Trowa was unhurt Wufei calmed down a little. He managed to not yell and just told Trowa that next time he should leave a note. Trowa promised to do that and trudged up the stairs to his room. ‘My new permanent room.’ Trowa thought miserably. There he lay down on his bed and wept for Quatre one last time.
