Authors note: DBZVelena: Sorry.... That this part is late is due to 2 things.
1: My brother owns the TV and DVD-player needed to make the raw draft of each chapter.
2: I'm a lousy planner of my own time.
But I stole the TV and DVD-player this time. Left him a cookie in return. A chocolate chip one, with a collar and feeding bowl. (Sorry Hawkclowd, I could not resist.) Anyway, Here is another
installment. Enjoy.

ShenLong: "Ohh my aching shoulders and fingers." *peers at keyboard.* "Damnit! all my letters are wearing off the keyboard." >_<

Chapter 3 "A Royal Announcement"

Uncle Howard shifted slightly in his seat and adjusted his glasses. He reached for a drink and swallowed thirstily, reading was hard work. With his throat suitably soothed he once more opened the book and got ready to read.

"So, are we getting to all the good stuff now?" Zechs asked.

"Have patience young man. All the good stuff as you call it will be coming up soon enough. The scene has to be set first." Uncle Howard returned to his book. "Now where were we? Oh yes....."

"It was five years after Duo's demise and all the people of the Sank Kingdom were gathered at the royal palace to hear the announcement of who was going to be their future princess... err... prince......"

The castle courtyard was a buzz with conversation. People jostled against each other in an attempt to gain a better view of the royal balcony and the royal family. Suddenly the air was pierced by the sounds of trumpet fanfare, heralding the arrival of the Princess Relena and her parents, the current King and Queen Noventa.

The royal family made their way out to the balcony and began to wave at the crowds milling below. They were flanked on either side by two guards who had somehow miraculously survived the previous war, (by *not* yelling "It's a Gundam!") but were now having severe hearing problems due to the loudness and placement of the trumpeters. Also accompanying the royal party was Princess Relena's long time confidant and advisor Treize
Khushrenada.

Princess Relena never went anywhere without the man. She trusted him explicitly which surprised her father as he had his suspicions about the man and his intentions towards his daughter, however Princess Relena had shown nothing but faith and devotion to her position and her duties.

The crowd cheered as The royal family plus one waved at them. Princess Relena stepped forward and waved her hands to quiet the rowdy mob.

It didn't work.

They waved back.

She tried again and again.... Eventually the ever helpful trumpeters stepped forward and gave a blast on their instruments, effectively silencing the mob and rendering the King permanently deaf.

"Thank you.... I think." said Princess Relena to her musicians. She turned to the now tone deaf crowd once more and addressed them in her high voice. "My people, a month from now our kingdom will celebrate its 500th year anniversary. On the sundown of that day I will marry a man unlike any other. " Princess Relena paused for a moment to wipe her mouth. "This man was once a commoner like yourselves." She paused again and stared at the blank faces of the crowd. Taking another deep breath she pressed on.... " I'm sure you will agree that he is not that common now. Would you like to meet him?"

The crowd was silent for a moment. People turned and looked at each other as if seeking the answer to the question in their neighbors eyes. A voice from the back spoke up. "Yeah I guess so." A moment later the rest of the mob joined in with wild cheers and shouts.

Princess Relena shook her head and rolled her eyes. Just how the heck had this kingdom managed to survive for 500 years with these sorts of morons for subjects? A squeeze to her elbow reminded her of the task at hand and she smiled at Treize.

"My loyal idio... subjects. I give you Prince Heero." Princess Relena's arm flung out to the side, hitting her father in the face and knocking him out cold as she pointed to the small entry way off to the side in the court yard where a red carpet awaited.

The trumpeters stepped forwards and proceeded to blow like crazy down the narrow tubes, instantly everyone's hands clamped down over their ears. Princess Relena spun around and tripped over the prone form of her father, who was being revived by one of the palace guards, and glared at the trumpeters.

Said musicians eyes went wide as the Princess faced them. Immediately the sound stopped.

With her hands on her hips Princess Relena stared them up and down, then she growled loudly enough for only them to hear.... "Do that again and I will shove those trumpets where the sun don't shine and you won't need your mouth to play a tune on them..... Got it?"

The trumpeters nodded silently and slunk back into the bowels of the castle, trumpets tucked protectively under their arms.

Satisfied, Princess Relena turned again to the crowd. She stepped back over her father and repeated her earlier announcement. "I give you Prince Heero....." Her arm again flung out and this time it was Treize that ducked, only to cop it across the back of the head as he stood before the arm had yet returned fully to Princess Relena's side. He stumbled forwards and grasped at the nearest thing available to steady himself..... The Queen.

The frail Queen was unable to support her own weight let alone that of Treize and the two fell to the ground.

Princess Relena stared at them. "Treize, would you be so kind as to stop molesting my mother? I'm trying to announce my betrothed here."

"Sorry your highness." Treize picked himself up and offered his hand to the Queen who took it and began to blush and giggle like a school girl. Once the Queen was standing again she seemed in no particular hurry to release
Treize's hand and the man had to practically pull himself free of her grasp.

"Third time lucky..." Princess Relena muttered under her breath. "I give you Prince Heero." This time the arm did not connect with anything as everyone made sure they were well out of the way.

The crowd gave a murmur and turned as one to face the darkened entry way where the red carpet came from.

Heero stepped onto the carpet and slowly made his way along its length and out into the sunlight of the court.

The crowd gasped.

A sunbeam shone down on the young man, bathing him in an ethereal glow.

The trumpeters in the castle raised their instruments and then thought better of it.

Heero stood quietly at the end of the carpet, his head slightly bowed, dull blue eyes peeking out from underneath unruly chocolate bangs.

He was a vision from the gods.

Lightly tanned skin of his slender neck disappearing under a loose cobalt blue shirt that fluttered around his muscular torso. The top four buttons were undone showing his well developed hairless chest. The long sleeves billowed over arms and ended in cuffs at wrists that joined elegantly shaped hands with tapered fingers.

The shirt was tucked neatly into black skin tight pants that hugged the mans body, showing off the curve of his ass and the well developed thighs. The narrow hips and waist led down to well toned calves and finished with a pair of ankle high black leather boots. The pants hugged his form so tight that anyone who dared to look at the mans crotch could plainly see he was nicely proportioned.

Uncle Howard paused for a moment and opted to skip reading out aloud those last few lines. While his mind might be old enough to take it he didn't want to corrupt his nephew just yet.

"A small silver crown adorned his head indicating his betrothed position..."

Treize silently handed Princess Relena a bucket to catch the drool before any of them needed to swim for it.

The crowd cheered and whistled in appreciation of their new, soon to be Prince Heero. Most approved of the choice... All envied the young Princess in her selection of partner and several tried to slip him their phone numbers.

Prince Heero raised his eyes and glared at the crowd.

The crowd immediately went silent and bowed before him, eager not to upset their future King or Queen.

"But Prince Heero felt nothing..." Uncle Howard's voice droned. "Although Princess Relena had the right as well as the power to choose whom she married and had picked Heero, Heero did not return her affections. The fact that she had been camped out on his farm and stalking him for the past year, had firmly cemented his lack of feeling for the Princess. But given no other choice, as the spoilt Princess was to be denied nothing, he had been forced to relent and give his consent to the marriage."

"But Heero did not love her...... Heero would never love her.... Heero was gay....."
