Never regretting for love

"Hilde, don’t you think it's too much for giving him electric shock and these medicine everyday?"

"Treize, you do want Heero as your spouse, right?"

"Of course, who wouldn't want to have him?"

"Well, there's one in front of your eyes... but I admit that he is beautiful and could be mistaken for an angel"

"Hmmm... yes... but too bad that I'm not his first, not the first one to have him writhing in my embrace as I take him for the first time... not the first one to hear his moans of pleasure... not..."

"ENOUGH!" Hilde felt angrier as she hear the same thing all men said about Heero, especially his ex-husband or her husband again, eventually, "If you really want him then never question my plans, Treize"

"Fine then... Just don't expect me to share him with you"

"There's no way I would want him especially if I can get Duo back"

That's right... I know you would come back to my side, wouldn't you, Duo?

*Duo POV*

"Nooo....."

I can't bear it as I see Hilde was shot right in front of while I can't even move to help her, my wife...

"Duo... Help...me...Duooo..."

I move as fast I could to catch before her fall on the hard, cold tile...

"HILDE!!!!"

"Duo... I can't... Promise me... tha...at... you will... live on... and never forget... me..."

"NO! Hilde! You can make it! C'mon you know you can..."

"Duo... promises me... after my death... you'll never... leave... Heero... alone... pro...miser...me... I... accept... you two...now... so... promise me..."

"NO! Hilde... You're not going to die... you're not..."

"Promise me... DUO... does...it...please..."

"Fine! I promise! Now just hang in there and don't leave me..."

I can't hold my tears anymore as I see Hilde began to lose her life little by little... As every seconds passes by, her hands becomes colder and colder and her face becomes paler.

"I'm sorry Duo... I...love...you... remember your promise... I love you" With that, she breathed her last breath right in my arms

Darn it! Who did this? I can't think others than loosing Hilde in such miserable way and now the memories when we two were still husband and wife, how we used to feel for each other before I met Heero keeps playing in my mind... Is this my punishment for neglecting my wife and her feeling?

There's something flashing somewhere in this darkness and then I see a shadow standing in front of me and really hard to see his face in this darkness

"Who are you? Show yourself, BASTARD!"

Suddenly the lights were turn on like magic... With these lights, I could see clearly what's around me... But never knew that the lights will make me feel like my heart is taken out from its place as the figure came up is the last person I expect to do this to my wife... Heero...

"Why...Heero... TELL ME WHY!"

All I get is only the cold smirk he always show when he kills his enemy before peace is achieved. He then put down his gun and turns his back on me and starting to walk away as if nothing happened... Suddenly he stops for a few seconds only to say, "Just don't forget your promise to Hilde, Duo" He smirks, "You promised her so you have to be by my side" and he then, continue walk away.

I can't help it, it hurts... My hearts hurts so much... I still don't understand why you did this... You knew I love you then why? Why can't you leave her? You're not the Heero who I love... Maybe he died along the way and I didn't even realize it and that's my biggest mistake.
I made up my mind Heero... I'll kill you... I promise I'll kill you before Heero who I love fell deeper into hell... I promise... Just like I'll fulfill my promise to Hilde, I'll keep this promise too Heero... I'll run, I'll hide but I'll never lie...

"Duo..."

I'll never let this promise left undone... I will not do something else that will make me regret... I WILL NOT...

"Duo... you're awake..."

"Who're you?"

"It's me, Zechs... You both are too cruel to me... How could you both forget about me? Well, especially Heero..." He said while he holds his chest to dramatize his words.

Zechs? Isn't he died? Does that mean I'm dead? No! I shouldn't...

"Where am I? What is this place?"

"You can see it yourself... you're our prisoner... You remember now?" He smirks as he looks down on me, well maybe because it's our position as I know that if we're both standing, we have the same height...

"How can I forget it?"

"Good... Now listen to me" He said with something unreadable emotion in his eyes

"..."

"I'll take you to Heero... He's waiting for you..."

Heero...

*Heero POV*

It's been 23 hours 50 minutes and 30 seconds since Zechs left this room. I still can't believe that less than 10 minutes I'm going to meet Duo. Is he alright? Is he hurt? Though I would pray that he's not... What will happen from now on? What will he do after he sees me? Is he going to berserk after he sees my condition now? Part of me hopes that he will and save me like he always did before however, the other of me hopes he won't cause maybe he'll get hurt by trying...

Duo... Can't wait to see you again... Miss you so much... Did you remember our promise that night? That we'll be together always? That you'll never leave me? Tell you the truth, Duo... That promise is the only thing that makes me want continues living... the only thing making me not to vanish after this peace...

---Outside the room where Heero's held captive---

"Leave! Never let anyone go inside this room! Understand?"

"But..."

"Do it!"

"I'm sorry, SIR!" Even the soldier trained to be the perfect soldier will think twice for declined Zechs' order after seeing his eyes and hurriedly get out from the room.

---Heero POV---

The noises made me back to reality and remember the promise Zechs said yesterday, to be exact 24 hours ago. Duo... Duo is only outside the door! DUO!

*Creak*

"Heero..."

"Zechs? Is it you? Where's Duo?"

He came closer and then opens my blindfolded...It took me a while to adjust the light as it's been awhile since I see light... Right! Duo... Where is he?

"Duo! Where is he? Zechs, where is he?"

"He's outside" Zechs said as he release me from the chair that was bound me since... since... It doesn't matter now, was it? Nope, nothing matters as long as I could see Duo again...

"Remember your promise, Heero that you'll stay here with me and I'll promise Duo's safety"

"I know" Though it's just a reply without thinking... all I think about now is Duo only outside this room... I feel my heart beats so fast that it seems going to explode...

"You’re ready, Heero"

Zechs then ordered Duo to come in as soon as he saw me nod. It only took a few seconds for Duo to come in... In an instant, I could see him standing there; I then check whether he is unharmed. It appears that he is. It really made me calm knowing this. Suddenly the longing I felt can't be kept low and I scream his name,

"Duo!"

I ran to him and hug him... I really can't believe that he's standing in front me, I can't hold back my longness to him, But as I look up to him, I suddenly feel that there's something different in his eyes... I can't read it... and somehow it made me feel uneasy...

"I'll leave you two alone... Heero, remember our promise" Zechs said as he walk out the room.

I don't really see it as I turn back on them as the look that Duo gave me makes want to disappear...

"I see that you're well, Heero... Or should I say... perfectly fine?!"

"Duo?!" I turned to see his face again as I hear something unusual in his voice...

"Look at this room... elegant and beauty, just like you... the old you... the one who I love" He walks around the room and checking it like it was made from gold and point the room to me. I then see around to look the room where I've been held captive for these months. And he said was true, this room IS made by gold, the wall, the floor, the furniture, well EVERYTHING!

I feel uneasy about this room, why would I be kept in this room? Does it happen to Duo too? Does Duo be held in this type of room? I turn back to see Duo again and realized the he smiles to me this smile made me feel like... I don't know how to explain what is this feeling... I really don't understand but it won't leave me alone... What is this feeling?

"Duo?"

"I just dreamt about a night when Hilde disappears from our life... do you remember about it, Heero?

"Yes... I remember it well"

"You remember the promise that night?"

"Yes... I do... What about it? Duo, why do you suddenly ask about it? Does it have something to do about this?"

There's another unreadable meaning in his eyes... I really feel bad about it... Like he's going to eat me alive... is he really Duo that I love? What happened to Duo?

"Don't worry Heero; I'll fulfill my promise like I said that night but in my own way"

"Duo? What do you mean?"

"Nothing" he whispers that I barely could hear it

"I'll take you away from this place and then we'll be together like I promise but of course if you're willing to leave this place"

“Of course I am!" I really hope he'll take me away from here

WAIT! But what if they realized about this plan? They'll after him and then, who knows what'll happen to him. It's still safer for him to leave me here... I can't let him got hurt.

"No! I think I'll stay here..."

"Heh! Just like I thought..."

There it is again, the unusual gleam in his eyes...

"Fine! If you don't want to leave this place, I'll stay here just to fulfill my promise... It's enough right?"

"Duo? What do you mean? I don't under..."

"Heero"

Zechs then came into the room and standing between me and Duo, His presents made relieved somehow. This isn't supposed to be like this... at least it's way too different from what I imagine

"What do want Zechs?"

"It's about time... Treize is coming to see you..." He said as he move closer to me

"Treize?" Duo said with those tones... again, "Now you even have Treize after you... you really are something, Heero"

"Duo? I think I heard something wrong? Did you say something to Heero?" Even Zechs found something strange in Duo.

After hearing this, Zechs move closer to Duo and touch his forehead and asking him if he's sick

"Know what Zechs? I'll give him up! If he wants Treize now, I'll let him go, I will as he got Treize in his palm now, but just warn him to be careful not to give something special to him. Like I did"

I can't believe my ears, my eyes... I can't believe that Duo could say something like that as if I'll seduce every man... I can't hold back my tears now as they already came out... It really broke my heart; the words that came from Duo's mouth really make me feel... What is the word? Oh yeah, unworthy... unworthy for his love, unworthy for living. Maybe I shouldn't got carried away back then, when he propose me to live by his side, maybe I should listen to J that no one will love me and will only hurt me and that I should disappears from this universe after the peace...

"What? Did I say something wrong?" He said with directly from eyes to eyes and made notice something dreadful, that it is really came from his heart.

A soldier suddenly came in and standing for few moments to look at us, maybe wondering about what's happening here, maybe... I don't know... I can't think clearly now. Then the soldier said to Zechs, "Master... the time"

"Yes... I know... Duo, I'll release you... Let's go..."

"And Heero?"

"We'll talk about that later... let's go..."

With that, Zechs walked out from the room and soon followed by Duo.

I fell into the floor as soon as they leave the room. I don't know what to think now... The words Duo said keeps playing in head like a broken radio and it won't stop rewind and replay in my head... It wasn't long till it finally stops as I feel darkness getting bigger and bigger as I soon fell into it.

---Outside Heero's room---

A man walks gracefully as he passes the guards.

"Master Treize!"

"Open the door! I want to see Heero"
