Power Heart: The search for family

Part Two

Sally looked up at Duo and sighed. She walked out the
examining room and sighed again. WuFei looked up scared of
what he would hear. Sally walked up to him and said, "Has
he had problems waking up?" WuFei nodded and said, "He
sleeps most of the time in Math and Study Hall. Why do you
ask, Sally?" Sally sighed and said, "What happened
today? Tell me everything. Don't miss a part."

WuFei said, "He woke up late and jumped out of bed.
I walked in and we talked until everyone was ready
to go to school. We all walked to school except for
Quatre. We all went to class. That is all until Trowa
came to my class and we came here."

Sally looked at Trowa and said, "What happened in class?"

Trowa blinked and said, "A new student shoved him on the
table in our workstation. Duo started bleeding from the
mouth."

Sally sighed.

WuFei looked up and said, "What is it Sally?"
Sally said, "That explains what the ultrasound
showed. I just don't think it explains it all."

WuFei said, "Sally, what is wrong with my Duo?"


Sally said, "Answer this question. Does Duo wake up
confused?"

Zechs nodded.

Sally said, "Alright. I have all the answers I need. Now
I need you all to hear me out because I can only describe
this once."

Four heads nodded.

Sally continued, "Duo has a minor tear in the
brain. He is on his way to surgery right now. Duo has
another problem that has us stumped. I might as well run
down everything that is wrong with Duo. One is the minor
tear in his brain. Two is hypothyroidism[1]. Three is
autophobia[2]. Four is neophobia[3]. Five is
kakorrhaphiophobia[4]. Six is bipolar disorder[5].
Seven is anxiety disorder[6]. Eight is anemia[7]. Nine is
bone cancer."

Silence reigned down for five minutes then all hell broke
loose.

"..."

*Thump*

Trowa stuttered, "Duo.. cancer.. how.. when.. what..."

Zechs gets up and goes to WuFei's side. Zechs said, "WuFei
are you alright?"

WuFei nods and said, "I just thought I heard Sally say that
Duo has cancer."

Sally said, "I did."

WuFei looks stunned and faints.

Sally said, "Please stop that. I know this is a shock
all of you. Please Duo is really scared right now and he
needs all of you to help him with this."

WuFei nodded.

Heero walked over to WuFei and said, "Would you like to
change all your classes so that you will be with Duo?"

WuFei nodded.

Sally left to the O.R.

Three hours later:

Sally walked back in the waiting room and said, "Duo
is OK for now. I do recommend a specialist for his bone
cancer. No fainting WuFei. He is awake but still groggy
from the surgery. He can have one visitor right
now. WuFei I think it would be best if it was you."

WuFei jumped out of his seat and ran out the room to go
see his Duo.

Trowa said, "That must be a yes."

The others laughed.

WuFei got to Duo's room and knocked. He heard no
answer. He knocked again and said, "Duo are you awake?"
He heard a groan and opened the door.

WuFei walked in and saw Duo trying to sit up. In a
matter of two seconds, WuFei was over by Duo's side
helping Duo sit up.

Duo looked at him and said, "Do I know you?"

WuFei looked at Duo like his heart was ripped out.

Duo smiled at WuFei and said, "Hey Fei-chan
what is wrong?"

WuFei shook his head and said, "Why didn't you tell me?"

Duo smile faded and said, "Who told you?"

WuFei said, "Sally. You could have told just me.
I love you, Duo. I can't loose you too. I lost
everyone who cared for me but you. How long
before the cancer eats you alive?"

Duo chuckled and said, "Oh boy, she told you
everything didn't she. Well before you get all upset
about the cancer I had better tell you everything.
I was told that my cancer could heal itself because
they found it in time. The L2 colony where I grew-up has
a free hospital. A free hospital is where a no to low
income person can go to get medical help for free.
I went there once with Sister Helen when I got sick.
Dr. Alan found the bone cancer and started my treatments.
It was healing but to insure that it doesn't come back
I take frequent treatments of chemo. The marks on my
arm were from that. Before a battle I would bring a
pouch that holds my chemo medication. I also have my
other medication that keeps me from getting sick in the
pack as well. I just hope this won't make you stop
loving m-m-m-me-......DR. ALAN."

The said doctor walked in and said, "Hello Duo. Sally
said that she had a young man who has bone cancer
so I came as fast as I can. I should have known it was
you. How are you feeling?"

Duo smiled and said, "I would feel alot better if my
friends were there to support me."

WuFei snorted.

Dr. Alan smiled and said, "I will be the judge of that."

Four Hours Later:

WuFei walked out and smiled. He walked to the waiting
room.

The door opened and Heero and the others walked out.

WuFei said, "Duo is coming home."

Duo was being wheeled out giggling.

Trowa said, "Is he on drugs?"

Duo said, "Maybe I am and maybe I am not."

Zechs looked confused at Duo and said, "What is wrong
with Duo?"

WuFei smirked and said, "He told the doctor that
his friends wasn't there for him. I had to prove to
him that we are."

The others laughed.

Next Morning:

Duo woke up and looked around not knowing where he
was. He was looking around and was about to cry.

WuFei walked into the room. He got a good look at Duo
and saw something was wrong. He said, "What is wrong?"

Duo jumped and said, "Where am I?"

WuFei sighed. Duo's mood changes were scaring him. He
looked at his lover and said, "We are going to be late
for school. I am in class with you and Trowa. Hurry and
get dressed."

Trowa and Heero walked into the room.

Heero said, "You guys ready."


Trowa just shook his head.

Everybody jumped as a scream was heard.

Zechs ran into Trowa's back and said, "Has anyone seen
Quatre?"

Trowa chuckled, "You loose Quatre too much, Zechs."

Zechs replied, "Not my fault. Is he at school?"

WuFei shook his head, "No. Quatre is in the kitchen."

Zechs nodded and left. He only got a few steps away before
he ran into the pilot he was looking for.

Quatre said, "Zechs what's wrong I heard you scream?"

Zechs shook his head, "Nothing I told you to wake me up."

The others laughed.

Heero said, "Lets go to school."

At school, Duo was looking for his locker. WuFei took Duo's
hand and dragged him to the Home Economics class.

Duo said, "This is my class. You go to yours."

WuFei said, "I am in this class, Duo."

Kaiza enters the room with Kash in tow.

Kash said, "Point him out."

Kaiza shook his head.

Kash looked up and saw WuFei. He walked over to him and
said, "WuFei, do you know someone named Duo Maxwell?"

The said pilot nodded and pointed to Duo.

WuFei said, "What do you want with him?"

Kash chuckled and said, "Tell him."

Kaiza shook his head, "I won't because I am not sorry."

Kash slapped him and said harshly, "Tell him or I will make
you sorry!"

Kaiza looked at Duo and said, "I am sorry for pushing you
yesterday."

Duo looked at WuFei confused.

He said, "What is he talking about, Fei-chan?"

WuFei said, "Kash, he lost a little of his memory. He doesn't
even know me sometimes. Your friend should just drop the
matter. I don't want Duo hurt anymore."

Kash and Kaiza nodded.
