Close Minded People
“Auntie, I’m back.” Quatre called after he shut the door behind his new friend…at least, he hoped he was his new friend.
“Welcome back Quatre, how was…your…day?” His aunt slowed as she came to the entry way. Trowa smiled when he saw her, she was very…cute. She had to be in her late twenties by the look of her aura, but she seemed like she could have attended school with them. She had light golden brown hair, that Trowa could tell didn’t come from a bottle and she was genuinely a nice person. That was a rare thing to find these days…it also meant that the boy next to him had grown up in a somewhat stress free environment, at least when he came home. The blonde just smiled as he turned to the other boy.
“Oh, it was ok. This is Trowa, is it ok if he stays for dinner. He got my bag back for me.” The woman finally smiled at the green eyed boy. Trowa couldn’t help wonder how many times Quatre had lost his bag to those little shits.
“I was just going to start it. Is there anything you would like?” Trowa smiled back at the woman. She knew that he had stepped in to take care of the bullies for her nephew.
“Anything is fine with me. I’m just happy to be getting a home cooked meal for a change, it’s been a while.” The woman nodded as she turned on her heels and made her way to the kitchen. Trowa turned to ask Quatre why his aunt had been looking between them with such an odd expression on her face, but the boy was bright red and turned away before Trowa could question him on it.
“We can do our homework until dinner is ready.” Quatre stated as he led Trowa into the living room. Trowa just smiled and silently nodded at the boy who was suddenly a healthy shade of pink. Trowa took out his things and got to work. The blonde was obviously embarrassed. Probably about the way his aunt had been looking between the two of them. Trowa forced himself not to laugh as he realized exactly what that look had been about. So the bullies had been right about him being gay. Well, at least that made things a little easier.

“Thanks for dinner.” Trowa called after the woman who had just turned and left them alone to say good bye.
“You’re welcome dear, feel free to come over any time.” Then they were alone. It was…awkward.
“Umm…like she said…if you want to come over again, you’re welcome to it. If you want…you could come over tomorrow to hang out…it was fun.” Quatre couldn’t look up. He was so scared that Trowa would say that it was good for today, but he didn’t want people to think they were friends.
“Quatre, I don’t think I should make it a habit of acting as if I belong in your house. I am only a guest after all.” Quatre did nothing but nod in agreement. He knew it. “If you would like though…we could go on a date tomorrow night.” Quatre’s head shot up so fast that Trowa let out a small laugh.
“Da-Date?” Trowa nodded then replied.
“Only if you want to. My treat.” Trowa was sure that the blonde didn’t give himself any time to think before he started nodding in agreement.
“After school, I’ll walk you home if you like. We can leave our bags here when we go.” Quatre nodded again before a bright smile lit his face.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Trowa.”
“Tomorrow.” Trowa stated before leaving.
“Quatre.” The blonde turned at the sound of his aunt’s voice. Of course she had been listening, he didn’t expect any different from her.
“Yes Auntie Iria?” The woman’s breath caught. She didn’t think she had ever seen her nephew smile like that. At least not since her sister and her husband had died.
“I know that you’re excited about going out with him just…be careful.” Quatre’s smile faded a bit, but she could still see the ghost of it in his eyes.
“I know Auntie, I will be.”
“Good…now, isn’t he just the cutest little thing you’ve ever seen?” Quatre felt his laughter bubble up and spill out of him.
“I thought you said that I was the cutest little thing you’ve ever seen. Come on, I’ll help you with the dishes…then you can help me figure out what to change into after school tomorrow.” He watched as his aunt tilted her head back and allowed herself to join in on the laughter, as they made their way to the kitchen.

Trowa had tried to talk to the blonde the next day, but the conversation was completely one sided. The blonde just seemed to turn red and clam up whenever Trowa started talking. The brunette didn’t quite know what to make of it. If he was embarrassed because he liked the green eyed boy, Trowa could understand…however, if Quatre had changed his mind and felt obligated to go out with him since he had helped him…Trowa didn’t want that.
“You know…we don’t have to go out if you don’t want to. Don’t force yourself to go on a date with me because you think you have to.” Trowa stated as they entered their final class.
“No, I want to…I just…I don’t know what to do on a date - no one has ever asked me out.” Trowa didn’t know if he should laugh because of how worried about this the boy seemed to be or if he should feel sorry that he had never been asked out.
“Hey…it’s just like hanging out. Yesterday we didn’t have any problem talking to each other. It’s like that only…”
“Only it’s a date.” Trowa smiled at the extra stress the blonde had put on the last word.
“No, it’s only a date.” Trowa countered, putting emphasis on ‘only’, he wanted the boy to be comfortable with this. Quatre let out a small laugh.
“Okay, okay, I concede, you win. It’s only a date.” Quatre replied sarcastically. Trowa smirked in triumph before heading to his seat. Even if Quatre wasn’t their completion, Trowa was more than happy to take him on his first date.

Trowa watched as the blonde turned red again, though this time for a very different reason. Well, not that different…the boys that had been bullying him yesterday had been waiting for him. As Trowa assumed they always did. Only this time, they saw that Trowa was with him before they could even start harassing the blonde. They were almost around the corner down the street when the one who was in charge had yelled at the top of his lungs that he hoped they had beautiful mutant babies together. Trowa had just laughed, turned back to him and stated very calmly that men didn’t have the equipment to produce babies.
The high school bullies turned bright red and Trowa had to wonder what they were thinking about that comment. He knew that they thought Quatre was gay, but that didn’t mean they knew for sure that he was…and if not, Trowa had just outted him. Which could very possibly be why Quatre was so red right now.
“Are you alright? I‘m sorry if that made you uncomfortable.”
“They’re talking about sex and we just met. Do they think that being gay means that we can sleep around as much as we want without consequences? Maybe they think that all gay guys are whores…where the hell do they get ideas like that?” Trowa paused before he answered. The blonde was uncharacteristically pissed off…Trowa was enjoying it.
“Close minded people will always be just that, close minded. I don’t enjoy what they say…it hurts sometimes, but if you can stand there and figure out a witty retort that they weren’t expecting, their expressions are priceless.” Well, at least his little one wasn’t angry with him for what he said. By the time that they had reached the blonde’s house, both of them were laughing about what had happened.
“What’s so funny?” Quatre glanced sideways at his aunt as he passed her on his way to his room to change.
“Close minded people should learn about what they’re being close minded about so they can get their facts straight.” His aunt just smiled as he ran up the stairs.
“And that would mean?” She questioned, turning toward the other boy.
“That if they want to bully Quat, that it really shouldn’t be about him having mutant children.” He responded with a smile before he headed toward the bathroom down the hall. The brunette just stood there looking after the green eyed boy. No one had ever made her nephew laugh about what a bully had said.
“Well, I’ll be damned.” She muttered to herself before she went into the kitchen to make herself look busy.

Trowa could have skipped down the hall, that was how happy he was. Though…being an Angel of Death, he would never allow himself to do something so…childish. However, the smile that was plastered on his face seemed to be doing a pretty damn good job of scaring others around him. He had just finished with his date. He felt like such a school boy again, he wasn’t sure if he was happy about how seriously he had taken their date.
What if Quatre wasn’t their last Angel? Yes, he had the light blue aura that they were missing, but so did a few of the other Tenshi’s. If-no, when he brought the blonde to Limbo…if he wasn’t their missing Tenshi…what would happen to him? He’d go with his group. Each group of Angels consisted of five people, one leader and four under them. Trowa couldn’t stand the thought of anyone else touching his little one. Except his other lovers…that made a fantastic mental image.
“How do you think you’re progressing with the unfound?” Trowa hadn’t even realized he had made it to the throne room yet, until Duo brought him out of his musings.
“I am progressing well with him. Duo…can I be honest with you?” The braided boy just tilted his head curiously. Trowa knew that business came first…even if Duo tried to get it to come second, so why was Trowa suddenly alright with skipping business?
“Of course Trowa.”
“I went on a date with him today. He’s gay…it is my honest opinion that he is our fifth Angel. I would like your permission to actively pursue him. I think that if we’re dating, he’ll be more likely to come with me when it’s time.” Duo didn’t know what to think at first. This was Trowa. Calm, cool, level headed Trowa. Speaking about something that wasn’t purely factual. Duo would have though Heero would have been the one to ask him something based on feelings before Trowa.
“If he is not our fifth?” Shinigami watched as his Angel visible deflated.
“I hope he is…but if he isn’t, I will stay with him through the transition to Tenshi and break it off only after he has found himself someone else to be with.” Trowa knew he was stepping out of bounds with his request. He didn’t expect Duo to agree but he could always hope.
“Fine. I accept your request.” Trowa smiled at his lover. He had been sure that Duo would have told him to go to hell for wanting to date someone else, but…if he was their last Angel…they would be doing a lot more than just dating him.

Allysa frowned as she paced in front of the gateway to earth. This wasn’t good. She knew that she didn’t have wings…Trowa didn’t say if they appeared when he was first brought to Limbo or if they took a while to be visible. Now…that green eyed menace was sure that their last Angel was that blonde boy she had seen. Wufei had been the one to take her soul. The one that brought her here. It wasn’t fair that she had to pine from a distance while some nobody got to be so close to him without doing anything.
She had to do something. The blonde boy had to go. He couldn’t be in her way…she had enough problems getting the Asian to notice her without having to deal with the fact that they may have their fifth Tenshi. Allysa paused in her pacing and turned to face the gateway. If she could eliminate the competition…maybe she could be the one to comfort the onyx eyed Asian when they figured out that the blonde wasn’t who they were looking for. With her mind made up, Allysa took the few steps it took to cross the room and passed through the gateway. Wufei was her savior. She was only saving him from choosing the wrong person to be with.
“Welcome back Quatre, how was…your…day?” His aunt slowed as she came to the entry way. Trowa smiled when he saw her, she was very…cute.
